In 1999 a group of Jackasses decided to join forces and create something that would entertain people, while at the same time making them sick to their stomach. This formula has proven to be very successful for the Jackass crew. The show came to surface when Big Brother Magazine (a skateboarding-related magazine), was approached by Johnny Knoxville, who had been turned down by various magazines, with the idea of testing self defense devices on himself. Jeff Tremaine loved the idea and hired Knoxville as a journalist. Tremaine decided to take Knoxville's idea to the next level, and asked him to make a video of the stunts. The footage featured Knoxville getting tasered, maced, and even shot while wearing a bullet proof vest. This video appeared on the second Big Brother skateboarding movie. The video also featured Wee-Man and Steve-O, who was a clown in florida at the time.
Around the same time that Big Brother released their movie, Bam Margera released a movie called "Landspeed: CKY". The movie featured what Margera dubbed as the "CKY Crew", performing crazy skits and stunts. The crew included Ryan Dunn, Brandon Dicamillo, and Raab Himself. Along with Margera's parents and older brother. Tremaine loved the movie, and decided to recruit them into what would become the infamous Jackass crew. Then the crew recruited Steve-O, who at the time was working at a Florida flea market as a clown. The final cast member was Ehren Mcgheney, who was recruited by Dave England.
Now the crew needed a director, so Jeff Tremaine drafted director Spike Jonze to join the Jackass crew. Tremaine, Knoxville, and Jonze also served as Executive Producers. Once they started pitching the show, they were given an offer by NBC's Saturday Night Live to perform the stunts on a weekly show. They collectively decided to turn the offer since it wasn't what they were looking for. After turning NBC's offer down, a bidding war occured between Comedy Central and MTV, which eventually MTV won. This is when Jackass was born.
Once Jackass hit the airwaves of MTV, everyone started talking about the show. Some loved it, some hated it, but people were watching it regardless. The show immediately caught attention from the media, the government, and parents worldwide. Due to the graphic nature of the show and the dangerous stunts performed on the show, MTV placed warnings and disclaimers during the beginning of the show, after each commercial break, during very dangerous stunts, and they also showed the skulls and crutches logo throughout the entire show. They also made it clear that they did not accept submissions from fans. Regardless of all this measures, some stupid kids still tried imitating the stunts, which in some cases lead to the death and injuries of some kids.
Eventually, U.S. Senator Joseph Liberman publicly condemned Jackass and asked MTV to take more serious measures. Pressured by the government, MTV's parent company Viacom asked MTV to take some action. This is when MTV cancelled all airings before 10:00 PM, and eventually stopped rearing Jackass episodes. This angered the cast and the production of the show, who were pissed at MTV for bending over to Liberman's demands. In 2001, Johnny Knoxville announced during an interview for Rolling Stone magazine that the show would end after the third season of Jackass aired on MTV. The reason being that MTV started controlling the show by telling them what they could and could not do.
In 2002 the Jackass crew reunited to film what they believed would be the conclusion of Jackass. The full-length motion picture titled "Jackass: The Movie", featured more vulgar stunts than the ones allowed on MTV. The movie ended up costing $5 million dollars, and ended up making a whopping $60 million in the US alone. It also finished in the number 1 spot at the box office on its debut weekend.
After the release of "Jackass: The Movie", the Jackass crew parted ways. However, the Jackass monster was still hungry. In 2006, "Jackass Number Two" was released, and grossed $29.01 million in its debut weekend. The movie had to be re-edited after Don Vito (Bam Margera's uncle) was arrested after groping two 12 year old girls, the producers decided to cut out scenes that they thought would affect Don Vito's trial. After the release of "Jackass Number Two" the crew made it clear that as long as there was money to be made by the Jackass franchise, the Jackass movement would continue.
In 2007 Bam Margera announced on the Howard Stern Show, that "Jackass 2.5" was in production. This time around the concept was a compilation DVD of stunts that did not make it to "Jackass Number Two". One of this stunts was Bam pulling Don Vito's teeth out with his Lamborghini. This stunt was cut out of the DVD due to Don Vito's probation sentence in December of 2007. This same year "Jackass: The Game" was released. The game features the crew and their most popular stunts, plus additional stunts that the crew suggested to the game developers.
In 2008 MTV held a TV special called: "Jackassworld.com: 24 Hour Takeover" to coincide with the launch of Jackassworld.com, a website dedicated to everything Jackass. During 24 hours MTV welcomed the Jackass crew to their studios. This is when Jackass 3 was born, after the crew realized that the fire was still lit and the chemistry between them was intact.
For Jackass 3, the crew decided to take it to the next level and decided to film in places like Mongolio, South Africa, and Finland. This time around they decided to use 3D technology to add more realism to the movie. The movie came out this past Friday and it should be another hit for the Jackass crew. A crew of people, that went from Jackasses to Movie Stars.

New York Hardcore Titans
On Thursday December 16th, history will be made as three of New York's most important Hardcore bands in history will join forces for a very special concert. We are talking about Life Of Agony, Biohazard and Vision Of Disorder. The show was organized in order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of "River Runs Red" and the release of their live DVD titled "20 Years Strong: River Runs Red, Live In Brussels". The legendary band performed this past April in Brussels Belgium to a sold out crowd, as a celebration for the 20 years of their legendary concept album. Life Of Agony are not the only ones celebrating, Biohazard is currently celebrating their 20th year anniversary!
This one in a lifetime concert, will take place at the Best Buy Theater (formerly the Nokia Theater) in Times Square. The show will be co-headlined by Life Of Agony and Biohazard, while Vision Of Disorder will be the main support. Just the fact of seeing Keith Caputo, Evan Seinfeld, and Tim Williams on stage back to back, is already very promising.
Another element added to this show, is the fact that all three bands are back in style, after taking an extended hiatus. Life Of Agony rejoined forces in 2002, while Biohazard and Vision Of Disorder reunited in 2008. All three bands have been taking names at their recent performances, and there is no doubt that they will tear up the Best Buy Theater in Times Square this 16th of December. So be there if you can, and if you can't Horns Up Rocks will bring you exclusive coverage. Because yeah, that is the way we roll! \m/
SET TIMES:
- SEVENTH VOID: 7:30
- VISION OF DISORDER: 8:15
- BIOHAZARD: 9:00
- LIFE OF AGONY: 10:15

RFM: It's Always Zombie in Philadelphia
Royal Flush Magazine released book number 7 today! Royal Flush is a magazine that blends music, art and entertainment, in a chaotic yet perfect way. Created by magazine genius Josh Bernstein, who is also Creative Director at Revolver Magazine, Josh's concept was to offer the public a magazine that was informative, original, and very artistic. One thing that sets Royal Flush Magazine apart from other magazines, is their creativity.
One perfect example of this is the signing they recently hosted at Forbidden Planet here in New York City. The signing feature coverboy Rob Zombie, who brought with his band mates: John5, Joey Jordison and Piggy D. The cover was painted by legendary heavy metal album artist, Ed Repka, best known for his cover work with legendary Heavy Metal band Megadeth.
“Royal Flush is awesome,” says Zombie. “There aren’t any magazines like it. It’s great to leave around forever because there is so much stuff to read.”
Book number 7, also features a back cover featuring the cast of "Always Sunny in Philadelphia". The cover was illustrated by veteran Royal Flush artist Patrick McQuade. Both cover stars agree that Royal Flush Book Seven is not to be missed. “Royal Flush might be the craziest thing I’ve ever seen,” says DeVito. “This is amazing.”
Inside this issue, you will find a double-barreled, double-sized salute to both TV and B movies, plus the usual batch of comics, underground art, satire and pro-wrestling tomfoolery including an exclusive interview with Danny McBride about Eastbound & Down Season 2 and his upcoming movie Your Highness, with a bonus look at the men who inspired McBride’s EB&D character Kenny Powers by baseball author Dan Epstein.
Here are some quotes taken from book 7:
“I don’t need to bench anymore. I just pick up cans of beer and bongs. So that’s how I keep strong,” says Danny McBride the star of HBO's hit series "Eastbound & Down".
Comedian Lewis Black lists celebrities he can't stand: “Mario Lopez is definitely one, and the Jersey Shore cast is pissing me off too. Glenn Beck thinks he’s funny, fuck him too.”
Danny Bonaduce’s fists talks about who he wants to hit badly: “Well, it would be interesting to hit Bret Michaels. I really like him, but it would interesting to see if he died or not,” also adding, “Dee Snider, I’d punch him in the head right now.” Bonaduce also talks about Michael Lohan showing up at his house and challenging him to a celebrity boxing match.
Celebrity stoner Tommy Chong talks bout taking bong hits on stage with Cypress Hill: “It was the biggest bong hit I ever took in my life. I literally had to be carried off the stage because I was blasted. I retarded my mental growth for at least 10 years.”
Danny DeVito lists his dream guests for "It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia": 1.Michael Douglas, 2. Jack Nicholson, 3. Ed Norton 4. Mel Gibson (when things cool off)
Rob Zombie shares his admiration for comic book legend Jim Steranko and Oscar winning director and B-movie king Roger Corman (both profiled in this issue). Zombie says of Steranko, “I love Jim’s Nick Fury stuff. I even met him when I was a kid!” On Corman, Zombie adds, “The movie business wouldn’t exist without Roger Corman. I think he’s the smartest guy in the history of motion pictures.”
Not convinces? Book 7 also takes the piss out of Conan O’Brien, Jay Leno, The Jersey Shore, Justin Bieber, Tiger Woods, Mark Zuckerberg, Lady Gaga, Mel Gibson, LeBron James, James Hetfield, Kirstie Alley, Dustin “Screech” Diamond, Marilyn Manson, Gene Simmons, Patrick Swayze and the return of the Douchebag 100 in another 112 page, full color, pop-culture-skewering bible of insanity.
Do your eyes a favor and pick up book 7 today! FYI: Barnes and Nobles has a limited edition lenticular hologram cover, only 1,000 were made!
“Royal Flush is such a visually stimulating magazine. I love it and wish it luck in the future!” —Hugh M. Hefner

SLAYER: Living Danger
There are very few bands in the world that carry the torch of Heavy Metal the way the mighty Slayer does. Slayer has been one of the top Heavy Metal bands in the world, since they came out in 1981. At that time the Bay Area Thrash Metal scene was just a baby, and Slayer quickly became one of the godfathers of the scene.
When a Metalero hears the word Slayer, they tend to yell Slayer real loud and throw the horns up in the air. This is what we evidenced this past Friday at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island. Every time Slayer steps on a stage, the crowd has a certain feeling of danger. It is hard to describe it unless you are there to experience the Slayer mayhem. There is no doubt that after winning two Grammy's recently, Slayer will eventually be inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame and will forever be an influence in Heavy Metal music.
Without further due, here is the mighty Slayer (make sure you scream it)! Live and loud at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island. Fasten your seat-belt, crank the volume up to 15, and prepare your neck for some headbanging! \m/

MADBALL: Set off the EMPIRE
Today marks the release of Madball's 7th studio album. The album is titled "Empire" and it has all the elements that has kept Madball relevant since they came out in 1988. The band started when Freddy Cricien (vocalist), and the members of Agnostic Front Roger Miret (vocalist) and Vinny Stigma (guitarist), decided to form a band in order to let Freddy exploit his talent. Freddy was only twelve years old at the time.
Twenty-two years later and Madball is stronger than ever. When we saw them at the Black N Blue Bowl earlier this year, they sounded amazing. We have no doubt that "Empire" will infiltrate into every corner of the globe, and prove once again that New York Hardcore is as strong as ever. Today, Hardcore is a global force that can't be stopped. Not as long as Madball is in the game, as one of the flag holders of the genre. SLAYER, MEGADETH & ANTHRAX @ American Carnage 2
On Friday October 8th, we headed to the Nassau Vetarans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island to experience one of the best tours in Heavy Metal history. Which tour are we talking about? The second leg of the American Carnage tour, sponsored by Jägermeister Music, which features Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.
We arrived at the venue around 4 o'clock, and immediately headed to lot 6 (pretty appropriate) for Jo Schuftan's (founder of Horns Up Rocks) tailgate birthday party! As soon as we arrived to lot 6, Heavy Metal was blasting from every car in the parking lot! It was heaven for any Metal head and hell for everyone else. After a few beers, some food, and lots of Metal, we all headed inside for the Anthrax experience.
As soon as we stepped inside the venue, the roar of the crowd was making the walls rumble out of control. People were raging down the ramp to get inside the pit. Anthrax kicked their killer set with Caught In The Mosh, which got the pit moving from the get go. As we were watching Anthrax perform, it became evident that Joey Belladonna is one of the best front-man in Heavy Metal today. During their song Antisocial, the entire venue got goosebumps as Joey had the crowd chanting in unison. The highlight of their set was the debut of their new song titled Fight Em' If You Can, which the crowd really enjoyed. Anthrax were truly awesome and could have easily headlined the show!
1. Caught in a Mosh
2. Madhouse
3. Antisocial
4. Indians
5. A.I.R.
6. Fight 'Em Till You Can't
7. Metal Thrashing Mad
8. I Am The Law
Following Anthrax, Jim Fiorentine from That Metal Show, stepped on stage and welcomed everyone to American Carnage. He did a few jokes which got the crowd pumped for Megadeth and Slayer. When he asked what band would be the fifth band if there was a "Big 5" tour, the crowd made it evident that Overkill would be the perfect fit.
A few minutes later the lights went out and Megadeth's intro which featured music by Heavy Metal legends Black Sabbath started blasting through the PA, the crowd went insane. When icon Dave Mustaine came on stage, the crowd roared louder than a furious lion! As soon as they started playing the intro to their legendary album "Rust In Peace", the venue's decibel level went up thanks to the thousands of screaming fans. For the next hour Megadeth demonstrated why they are one of the best Heavy Metal bands in history, as they played every song from their "Rust In Peace" album. Even though it is a real hard task to be "sandwiched" between Slayer and Anthrax, Megadeth didn't disappoint.
1. Holy Wars... The Punishment Due
2. Hangar 18
3. Take No Prisoners
4. Five Magics
5. Poison Was the Cure
6. Lucretia
7. Tornado of Souls
8. Dawn Patrol
9. Rust in Peace... Polaris
10. Trust
11. Head Crusher
12. A Tout Le Monde
13. Symphony Of Destruction
14. Peace Sells
Once Megadeth completed their therapeutic annihilation, Jim Fiorentine from That Metal Show surprised everyone as he was standing at the sound board with the sexy Jägermeister girls. He asked everyone to raise their cups in the air, and do a shot for the legendary Dimebag Darrell from Pantera and Damageplan. Then he demanded the for the crowd to do a Slayer chant, after Anthony De Moya and his group of friends kept wildly chanting Slayer, Slayer, Slayer! They didn't want to hear Don talking, they wanted Slayer's musical mayhem!
Next thing you know, the lights go out, the crowd goes wild, and Slayer's stage curtain is covering the band as they start playing World Painted Blood. Once they dropped the curtain, the entire place erupted into a volcano of shredding and headbanging. Slayer sounded amazing, very powerful and full of energy. It was amazing to see them play "Seasons In The Abyss" in its entirety. After seeing Slayer perform in front of a crowd that went ape shit. One thing is for sure, the Slayer quarter is not ready to retire anytime soon. The rumors are useless, when you see how this guys always deliver the insanity that made them Heavy Metal legends from the get go.
