As previously reported, Randy Blythe was arrested Wednesday (June 27)
at the Prague airport on manslaughter charges. Blythe, 41, who was
represented by two lawyers in court, is accused of causing the fatal
injury that occurred at LAMB OF GOD's May 24, 2010 show in Prague. The
singer apparently either pushed or struck a 19-year-old fan named Daniel
who had come on stage, and that person died 14 days later of bleeding
in the brain. Here is the latest in Blythe's criminal investigation:
According
to iDNES.cz (Czech news network), a session behind doors was held
yesterday (July 16) at the Prague Municipal Court regarding the Randy
Blythe criminal investigation. The good news is that the court has
dismissed the prosecution's motion to deny Blythe's bail.
Blythe's Czech attorney Martin Radvan spoke to Radio Prague about the singer's arrest in Prague last month on manslaughter charges.
"We
are now waiting for his release because the band has already collected
the additional 200,000 dollars, and only due to long travel time between
the Prague Municipal Court and the court for Prague 8, we are still
waiting," Radvan said. "Otherwise, he should have already been released."
When asked if Blythe will have to stay in the Czech Republic: "Everything indicates that he will be allowed to travel home. But
he will have to come back either for further investigation or the
trial, and that's what he wants to do. As a world-renowned artist, in a
specific genre of music of course, he cannot afford to simply disappear.
This is a wrong assumption by the Czech police and the Prague municipal
prosecutor who still believe there is a possibility he will disappear
and never show up again. But there would be posters with his picture all
around the world, and if he wants to continue performing, he will have
to return. And he wants to return because he believes he is not guilty
of anything he has been charged with."
On the topic of why no one
made any attempt to approach them after the incident — not even the
police or the family members of the fan — in the two years following the
concert in question, Radvan said, "I really don't know. Let me put it this way: nobody was expecting that, unfortunately, this young man Daniel Nosek
would die a month after the concert. His father then spoke to the
police who launched an investigation and called several witnesses who
were at that concert. They also approached the U.S. Department Of
Justice and asked them to take part in the investigation, which the
department refused to do. Refusing to do so, they did not notify anyone
from the band or the management, so no one really knew that
investigation was underway, which I think is not something the U.S.
Department Of Justice can be proud of.”
On how Randy Blythe
is coping with being in jail: "Randy Blythe is an intelligent man, he writes songs and now in jail, he has started writing a book. As regards his Mongolian 'neighbor,' Mr. Blythe is not really learning Mongolian from him all the time; we just bought the guy a book of Sudoku so that Randy has a little more time to do things he wants to do."
On whether Randy has complained about the conditions in jail: "Not at all. He says he is being treated in a fair way, and he has no
complaints whatsoever about the guards or anybody in the Pankrác prison.
He realizes he cannot do anything about the fact that the prison is
old... it's not a place where he would like to spend more time, but
well, that's how it is."

GUNS N' ROSES Celebrate 25 Years Of 'Appetite For Destruction' - Video Interview With Steven Adler Available!
Recently, 80s Rock icons GUNS N' ROSES were inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame. The ceremony took place on Saturday, April 14 in Cleveland, Ohio. As it was anticipated, singer Axl Rose wasn't part of the induction ceremony. GREEN DAY's Billie Joe Armstrong inducted the band into the Hall Of Fame!
There is no question that without 'Appetite For Destruction' (released July 21, 1987 via Geffen Records), the record that helped the band to become a worldwide phenomena, GUNS N' ROSES would have probably never made it into the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame. After all, 'Appetite For Destruction' hit the top of the Billboard 200 album charts at number 1 in both 1988 and 1989.
What made 'Appetite For Destruction' such a great record was the overall quality that combined excellent musicianship, catchy lyrics, and top notch production. SOULFLY To Headline 16th D-Low Fest In Memory Of Max Cavalera's Stepson Who Was Murdered!
On Thursday, August 2nd, Max Cavalera's SOULFLY will be headlining the 16th annual D-Low Memorial Festival at the Marquee Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona. Also appearing on the bill will be Incite and Lody Kong (both bands feature Max's sons) and a slew of bands that will be announced soon. The D-Low Memorial Festival is an annual event held in memory of Dana Wells (Max Cavalera's stepson), who was killed after the release of Sepultura's "Roots" in 1996. In 2004, the band recorded part of their 'The Song Remains Insane' DVD at the show.
As previously reported, SOULFLY will be performing at the 2012 "Gathering of the Juggalos", to be held August 8-12 in Cave-in-Rock, Illinois, where it's been the last few years. The event has been gaining mainstream media attention and getting larger and larger each year, with its organizers, Insane Clown Posse, welcoming hip-hop, Hard Rock and Metal performers, professional wrestlers, and comedians to the event's multiple stages, including everyone from Ice Cube, George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, and Method Man and Redman to GWAR and Charlie Sheen. And now, SOULFLY will be the first Roadrunner Records artist to play for the notoriously volatile juggalo audience, who shower performers with love (and Faygo soda) if they like them and hurl bottles if they don't. Here is what Max Cavalera had to say about this unique opportunity:
Says frontman Max Cavalera, "It's a challenge and at the same time it's an honor that they specifically asked for SOULFLY to play at the festival. We're gonna give our best show possible and we're going to fuck shit up at the Gathering of the Juggalos".
It has also be announced that the second chapter of the "Maximum Cavalera Tour" is happening! The trek which features SOULFLY, INCITE and LODY KONG, will kick off on Tuesday, July 31st in San Francisco, California and will conclude on Friday, August 17th in Amityville, New York. 12 Killed At The BATMAN "Dark Knight Rises" Premiere In Aurora, Colorado - Statement From President Obama Available!!
Earlier this morning, Denver Police confirmed that a masked gunman killed 12 people at a midnight showing of the NEW Batman movie: "Dark Knight Rises". This very sad event took place at a mall in Aurora, Colorado (a suburb of Denver). The gunman turned joy into tragedy when he hurled a gas canister into the auditorium and opened fire on moviegoers.
According to hospital officials, about fifty others (including children) were wounded in the attack on the showing of the movie, some of whom were treated for the effects of tear gas, hospital officials said.
"This is a horrific event," Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates told a news conference, adding that a suspect was taken into custody in the parking lot behind the theater. He had initially put the death toll at 14, but a spokesman later told NBC the toll had been revised to 12.
Reuters has gathered the following information:
- Police said the Aurora gunman had appeared at the front of the theater during the movie and released a canister which let out a hissing sound before gunfire erupted.
- Dozens of police were at the scene, and the authorities evacuated the area while they checked for any explosive devices. They said there was no evidence of a second gunman.
- Wendy Post, who was waiting to be reunited with her daughter at a local high school following the shooting, said her daughter told her the shooting erupted just minutes after the film began.
"She saw the exit door open and something was thrown across the screen, and then shooting started," she told local NBC affiliate 9News television. "It was chaos."
- President Barack Obama, who was notified of the shooting on Friday morning by his homeland security adviser, John Brennan, urged Americans to "stand together" with the people of Aurora in the hours and days to come.
"Michelle and I are shocked and saddened by the horrific and tragic shooting in Colorado. Federal and local law enforcement are still responding, and my administration will do everything that we can to support the people of Aurora in this extraordinarily difficult time," Obama said in a statement.
"As we do when confronted by moments of darkness and challenge, we must now come together as one American family," he added.
- Colorado has suffered mass killings in the past. In 1999, two students opened fire at Columbine High School in the suburb of Littleton, near Denver, killing 12 students and a teacher.

STRIFE Reveal NEW Album Details & Video Teaser!
Southern California Hardcore band STRIFE has signed a recording deal with 6131 Records and will be releasing their forthcoming album, 'Witness A Rebirth' this fall.
Some bands leave such an impression on fans that, even after two decades, their sound still resonates deep and wide. STRIFE is one of them, and once again tapping into the energy that has kept listeners interested for 21 years.
After touring the world recently, they decided it was time to unleash a NEW batch of songs after 11 years of recording silence. The groundwork for what would become their newest album, 'Witness A Rebirth', has been laid and their collective efforts began down the road to realization.
With producer Nick Jett (Terror, Rotting Out, Backtrack) at the helm, STRIFE recruited friend and previous collaborator, Iggor Cavalera (founding member of Sepultura and current Cavalera Conspiracy) to perform drums for the album and traveled to Brazil to start the recording process with him. Soon after, they returned to California and put the rest of the pieces into place, including guest vocals by Billy Graziadei (Biohazard) and Scott Vogel (Terror), plus a guitar solo by Marc Rizzo (Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy). The rest serves as a testament to their talent, bridging their past (especially the contemporary Hardcore sound. 'Witness A Rebirth' is at once both refreshing and evocative.

CANNIBAL CORPSE Are Ready To Slaughter Ear Drums; The 2012 Summer Slaughter Tour Is Finally Here!
Tomorrow night, American Death Metal legends CANNIBAL CORPSE will kick off their headlining spot on this year's Summer Slaughter tour at the House Of Blues in Los Angeles (now SOLD OUT)! The band will be joined by label mates Between The Buried and Me, Job For A Cowboy and Goatwhore as well as The Faceless, Periphery, Veil of Maya, and Cerebral Bore. In honor of the tour kick off, Metal Injection will be hosting a pre-game Summer Slaughter podcast which will allow fans to chat LIVE with the bands. The one-hour pre-game show begins at 3:00pm EST/12:00pm PST at THIS LOCATION. Don't miss it.
Additionally, CANNIBAL CORPSE will appear on day two (August 18, 2012) of this year's inaugural Knot Fest alongside fest headlining hosts Slipknot, Deftones, Lamb Of God, Deathklok and more! For more info head over to the official website HERE.
CANNIBAL CORPSE are touring in support of their critically lauded, impossibly brutal full-length, 'Torture', released through Metal Blade Records earlier this Spring. On the twelfth studio offering of their inspiring twenty-four year career, the Floridian quintet have never sounded so vital, the album building upon the wealth of powerful, dark, and memorable songs comprising 2006's 'Kill' and 2009's 'Evisceration Plague' and pointedly upping the ante at every turn. The record landed the band at #38 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart upon its first week of release, making it the highest debut in CANNIBAL CORPSE history! Torture landed at #7 on the Billboard Top Independent Album Chart, #4 on the Billboard Top Hard Music Albums chart and #32 Billboard Top Current Albums Chart. Produced by Hate Eternal's Erik Rutan, Torture continues to reap critical accolades from critics and fans around the globe and is yet another testament to CANNIBAL CORPSE's permanent allegiance to shrewdly arranged, pile-driving Death Metal madness.

LAMB OF GOD's Mark Morton: "Here's a tune I worked on with some friends the other night. Something different. Hope you enjoy."
Mark Morton from LAMB OF GOD, is arguably one of the best Heavy Metal guitarists today. His style of playing is definitely to blame for the musical evolution of the Kings of New American Metal! Since he is currently at home in Richmond, Virginia, awaiting for the return of his friend and bandmate Randy Blythe (who is currently arrested in Prague, Czech Republic), Morton got together with some buds and recorded a NEW song!
Entitled "To Make Sure2", the song is available for free legal download at this location.
As previously reported, Randy Blythe was arrested Wednesday (June 27) at the Prague airport on manslaughter charges. Blythe, 41, who was represented by two lawyers in court, is accused of causing the fatal injury that occurred at LAMB OF GOD's May 24, 2010 show in Prague. The singer apparently either pushed or struck a 19-year-old fan named Daniel who had come on stage, and that person died 14 days later of bleeding in the brain. Here is the latest in Blythe's criminal investigation:
According to iDNES.cz (Czech news network), a session behind doors was held yesterday (July 16) at the Prague Municipal Court regarding the Randy Blythe criminal investigation. The good news is that the court has dismissed the prosecution's motion to deny Blythe's bail.
But yet again, the Czech authorities have thrown a dangerous curve ball at Blythe: they have doubled the money required for bail from $200K to $400 K! According to Blythe's legal team, this is equivalent to the salary that Blythe earns in two years.
So Blythe's nightmare is not over yet! As previously reported, the prosecution can still reject his bail and keep this case alive for as long as they want.
Blythe's next bail hearing is set for this Thursday (July 19), lets hope they release him from prison and that he can get back on the road with LAMB OF GOD!
Here is Randy Blythe's first interview since being arrested!

Study Says That Headbangers Are Smarter Than Classical Music Fans!
Do clever kids headbang? Well, according to a survey conducted by psychologist Stuart Cadwallader, teenagers who crank up Heavy Music could be unusually bright. As we all know, many of us (if not all of us) use loud/fast music as a way to deal with the pressure of being gifted outsiders.
Cadwallader, who surveyed 1,057 members of the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth (now IGGY: International Gateway for Gifted Youth), had this to say about the research he gathered:
"There is a perception of gifted students as being into classical music. That's an inaccurate stereotype." So in the wise words of MACHINE HEAD's Robb Flynn: "HEADBANG MOTHERF'ER!"
Note: IGGY is targeted at the brightest young people (aged 11–19) from across the globe.

SLIPKNOT Share 7 Super Gross Stories Compiled Throughout The Years!
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of SLIPKNOT's groundbreaking album 'Iowa' (double-CD reissue available now via Roadrunner Records), the great folks over at Spin.com talked to some of the members of SLIPKNOT and gathered seven super gross stories that might make you gag!
7. The One With The Fans Who Maybe Should Wash More
Shawn "Clown" Crahan, #6: "There's one thing that I think is pretty gross but I don't want it to be demeaning to anybody. I started wearing surgical gloves at in-stores. I would shake hands with everyone, of course. But I would look at the line and see folks rubbing their hands on their nose, looking like they hadn't showered in four days. I mean, I'll shake their hand, but when you do an in-store for 4,000 people, you're like, 'I just got exposed to Cincinnati.' The other band members thoughts I was an asshole, but I remember after one in-store, I showed them the palm of the glove and it was black. Not just a little dirt, but pitch black."
6. The One Where Sid Broke Both of His Heels
Corey Taylor, #8: "Oh, yeah, Sid broke both of his[heels] on the first night of the Mayhem Festival (in the 2008 version). He was in so much pain he was having a hard time doing his parts."
Sid Wilson, #0: "Yep, both my heels at the beginning of a show. I was jumping over Paul [Gray, bassist], done it a million times, and for some reason this time I was a little far behind my self and I had on all 30, 40 pounds of leather and chains, kind of a Road Warrior thing. I had done the jump in dress shoes lots of times. I was cocky and I didn't look at the arena first. So I jumped and smashed into my heels and broke both of them. Tremendous amount of pain. I finished the show, but I did the rest of the tour in a wheelchair. Some nights I'd end up crawling around on stage, dragging my body around. I looked like a guy from Hellraiser."
5. The One at the Viper Room:
Taylor: "While we were recording 'Iowa', I was nearly banned for life from the Rainbow Bar & Grill on the Sunset Strip, where the clientele has not changed in 30 years. I saw one of my heroes there, a guy I just worshiped, and he was being really unpleasant. And that really bummed me out and I got wasted. In my drunken anger, I started hurling shot glasses at him. I was asked to leave and the owner the next day called my manager and said, 'If he ever pulls that again, he's banned for life.'
"So I'm already hammered and we go taking off down Sunset, we're jumping parking meters and we're in front of the Viper Room and my buddy looks at me and says, 'I bet you could put your foot right through that.' So I kicked that plate glass window, wearing shorts. It shatters and I turn around and there is a cop car sitting right at the red light. I didn't even try to run, I just walked over and put my hands on the hood. They were very cool about it, they very politely handcuffed me and sat me on the curb right outside the Viper Room.
"People are coming out and laughing at me. I just start spitting at them and cursing them. The cops throw me in the back of the cop car and I just passed out in the back seat. Next thing I know I'm sitting in a chair at the station. And the station gets a call from the cops on the scene. They said, the owners are here and if I paid for the damage they wouldn't press charges. So we go back to the Viper Room. And I just looked like a lump of shit at that point, and I had just enough money to pay for the damage. I come stumbling across the street towards the owners with a fist full of the grossest money you have ever seen. It was like you put $500 in your pocket and worked out all day. I remember just putting this revolting money into one of their hands and I collapsed in my friend's car. The next thing I know, I wake up in my hotel, basically naked, some girl in my bed, no idea who it was and there's porn on the TV. "
4. The One With the Pee:
Taylor: "I can tell you that a person in the band, won't tell you which one, was filmed in England on the floor of a shower area, having two chicks piss on him. It was definitely the strangest threesome ever. And it just fucking shows you how disturbed this band is that everyone was there, crew and band alike. It was definitely a very strange event."
3. The One With the Dead Bird:
Wilson: "We had a dead bird in a jar. Clown kept it in there for a long time. We'd bring it out on stage and take big deep breaths out of it, see what death smelled like, have that inside you, gets you in that dark place. It would make you throw up immediately, vomit in your mask. He had it in there for so long it started getting this gelatinous liquid in the jar as it decayed. One particular show, early on in our career, when the bird was at that stage, Clown huffed it, I huffed it, I threw up immediately. But the O.G. Maggots, before we made it big, they were nuts. They were saying, 'Let us smell it.' So we put the jar down there and they start pulling out this stuff and eating it! I think it was more disturbing for us. The kids were sicker than we were. They always had something to prove."
2. The One With the Pig Heart:
Crahan: "In the early days, I would get a lot of dead birds, alot of dead shit in jars, mainly birds, of course. But there was one girl on the east coast who brought me a cow heart or a pig heart. I just remember her coming up and, like, smacking me in the head and throwing this heart down and being like, 'Can you sign this?' "
1. The One With the Decaying Human Femur:
Crahan: "This is the craziest thing that ever happened and it kinda bothered me for a while. We were in a foreign country, I won't say which one to protect this girl's identity. She was living it like we were living it. Her clothes looked like sewed that shit up herself, really weird material, but it was what she loved.
"She gave me a human femur bone that she had written 'People = Shit' on it. It wasn't a normal clean, bleached bone. It was brown and dirty and she had clearly gotten it from a grave. The country where we were, it was very easy to do. This bone had sand and dust on it and in blue ball point pen right in the middle, 'People = Shit.' I mean, I believe the soul immediately goes when we died and even thought the body is just a shell, I still want to have respect for those remains. But if there's one thing we are saying in Slipknot, it's 'Don't ever judge me.' So I sat her down and had a very personal talk with her. She was very deep into our thought processes and really in love with our idea, so in love that she went to these realms. So there was a person [from whom the bone was taken] that had no idea they were going to be brought into our thought process. That's how circumstantial and random life is."

Earlier this week, Jon Lord of Deep Purple died earlier at the age of 71. The co-founder and keyboard player with the Heavy Metal pioneers passed after suffering a pulmonary embolism. Earlier this year, Lord was diagnosed as suffering from pancreatic cancer, a normally swiftly developing and deadly form of cancer. Lord was was surrounded by his family at the London Clinic. Jon Lord is survived by his wife Vickie and two daughters — Amy and Sara (please keep them in your thoughts and prayers).
