Mike IX Williams: 1st CORRECTIONS HOUSE Interview + Update On NEW EYEHATEGOD + Jail Poetry!!

Every time we get to chat with Mike IX Williams from EYEHATEGOD, he comes across as a very genuine, outrageous and artistic individual. He definitely does not follow a text book when it comes to his creative projects, and he never jumps into any project in which he can't bring in his unique vision.

His latest project, which he says it is not a project, is called CORRECTIONS HOUSE. The idea behind CORRECTIONS HOUSE is to create a sonic experience that is completely unpredictable. The bands music, which is impossible to categorize, mixes spoken word, guitar sounds, and plenty of sound escapes.

The group is currently trekking through the United States of Metal, so make sure you check them out.
On Monday, January 21, we were able to catch their first full concert ever at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, New York. Right after they were done delivering a very unique sonic experience to all those who attended, we had the chance to chat with Mike IX Williams about CORRECTIONS HOUSE, the NEW EYEHATEGOD record, and he even told us about this poetry book entitled "Cancer as a Social Activity" which he wrote mostly while in jail. Watch this exclusive interview, and support underground Metal!

TOOL: Danny Carey Discusses The Bands Fans, Superman Soundtrack & NEW Batch Of Music!

As previously announced, TOOL are working on some NEW music. Up until know, in typical TOOL fashion the band have been very mysterious about the status of their fifth studio album and have only been communicating with the outside world via their webmaster.

The Rock FM (New Zealand radio station), recently conducted an interview with TOOL's drummer Danny Carey. During the interview Carey discussed the progress of the NEW TOOL album, the effect that their music has on millions of people worldwide and his involvement with Jason Bonham (son of John Bonham from LED ZEPELLIN) on the NEW Superman soundtrack. Listen to the interview at this link:

http://www.therock.net.nz/Tools-Danny-Carey-talks-to-Tracey/tabid/381/articleID/23856/Default.aspx

When asked by Chilean radio station Futuro about the album arriving in the near future, Maynard James Keenan directly replied: “No NEW disc, not this year.” When pressed further replied: “I have not written any songs. So no, there is nothing.”

As reported last week, the band had to postpone a few recording sessions after allegedly two members of the band were involved on some minor accidents. More info HERE!

As previously reported, the Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award (presented by Ernie Ball) will go to Metallica, who will release the 3D movie "Through the Never" in August. (Previous honorees include Rush, Motley Crue, Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead and Ozzy Osbourne.)

Metallica’s Lars Ulrich commented, “Since the Revolver Golden Gods Awards is fast becoming THE most rocking awards ceremony in the hard rock world, we are beyond psyched to be at the receiving end of this shout out and in the distinguished company of Rush, Lemmy, Ozzy and Motley Crue. I was hanging out and presenting at the shenanigans two years ago and the energy in the room and the vibe backstage was beyond fucking cool, so Metallica is chomping at the bit to partake in this year’s event. Once again, we are honored to be recognized as achievers (!!) and we can’t wait to get up and jam onstage and sweat for and on everybody gathered.”

SLIPKNOT's Corey Taylor Updates Fans On The Bands Next Record!

For their millions of fans around the world, Slipknot are as much a culture and a way of life as they are a band. To completely engage with all of the perseverance, ingenuity, artistic integrity and holistic vision of Slipknot's creative output in all of its forms, is to fully embrace every facet, and to find community in counterculture and true strength in survival.

Needless to say, the "maggots" are impatiently waiting for a NEW SLIPKNOT album. And while most of the band is ready to get some songs recorded and released. The bands vocalist Corey Taylor is not ready yet. Here is Taylor's latest update:
"We're doing five shows this year, all overseas. But it's still not time yet. There's a lot of people in the band getting healthy and trying to stay healthy and I think by getting together and doing this handful of shows, that will encourage them, and that's important.

"It takes a long time to pull yourself out of where we were. We were all in really bad shape and really dark places and right now we just kind of realized, we don't want to be there anymore. You can visit it. You can tap into it. But you don't want to exist in it. That's not life. That's just sustaining pain. For me, I let that go a long time ago and now the rest of the guys in the band are seeing that as well.

"So, we're all just trying to be there for each other and I think we'll start working on new music by probably next year… just kind of throwing demos together, maybe start working on a new album at the end of next year or maybe 2015."
While we totally understand that it is not easy for SLIPKNOT to move on after losing their bassist Paul Gray in 2010, Taylor seems to have plenty of time to write music and to tour with STONE SOUR. So lets hope that Taylor commits to SLIPKNOT after STONE SOUR completes their current album cycle in 2015.

SLIPKNOT will be headlining the Download Festival on Friday 14 June 2013, marking the band’s second headline appearance following an explosive set in 2009. They join fellow headliners Iron Maiden on Saturday 15 June and Rammstein on Sunday 16 June.

As the tri-state area of the United States awaits a pretty massive winter storm, a blizzard warning is in effect starting on Friday, February 8 at 6 AM ET and end at on 1 PM ET on Saturday, February 9, the big question a lot of headbangers have is whither or not the concert featuring GOJIRA, THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, and THE ATLAS MOTH, will happen or not. The concert is scheduled to take place tonight at Irving Place in New York City.

Heavy Devy has released the following update regarding tonight's sold out concert:

"We're well aware that a pesky blizzard is expecting to hit the NY area tomorrow and at this point we are unsure what this will mean for the Irving Plaza show. Looks like the bands will be able to get there before the storm hits but if there's an official travel warning put out for cars and trains it may be cancelled by the promoter anyway. We also need to make sure that the bands are able to get out to play the rest of the tour so it's all a bit messy at the moment.

"We'll be having a talk with the promoter in the A.M. EST and will take it from there. More news to follow soon...

Marilyn Manson Concert In Canada Cut Short After Manson Collapses On Stage - Video Available!

Reportedly, shock rocker Marilyn Manson collapsed last night (Wednesday, February 6) during his bands concert in Saskatchewan, Canada and as a result his bands set was cut short.

According to Blabbermouth, the 44-year-old rocker — whose real name is Brian Hugh Warner — was midway through performing the song "Beautiful People" at TCU Place in Saskatoon when he reportedly kneeled over and vomited on the stage. His bandmates continued to play for two minutes before security finally carried him off.

Here is some video footage of the incident:

As you may recall, Manson recently had to get a medical procedure in order to reattach his ear following a fight that he had in Switzerland during one of the last concerts of the "Twins Of Evil" European tour with Rob Zombie.

Release Date & Details Announced For "Official Truth, 101 Proof: The Inside Story Of Pantera"

Last year, it was announced that Rex Brown was joining forces with De Capo Press to write a memoir entitled "Official Truth, 101 Proof: The Inside Story Of Pantera". It has been announced that the "starkly honest and revealing" book is scheduled to be released this March 12!

As we all know, Pantera saved Heavy Music in the early 90's thanks to their vulgar display of crushing Metal. Their phenomenal 9 studio albums, were only topped by their amazing stage show. When Pantera came to town, nobody was safe and their explosive live show left many Panteraheads scarred for life! They say that glory always has a very high prize to pay, in the case of the Kings Of Metal this is an understatement.

Now the whole story about Pantera will be told by one of the pivotal members of the band. Fans can expect the whole truth and nothing but the truth, in a story about a band from Texas that went against all odds and went from triumph into tragedy after the assassination of Dimebag Darrell Abbott on December 8, 2004 at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio.

According to Brown, “This is what went down, from my point of view. If you read it, everything should be clear, at least from where I was sittin’!” He continues, “I’ve simply tried to shed some perspective and insight onto my life so far, and the many beautiful people that have surrounded it. With all the trials and tribulations, sacrifices and tragedy, I’m very grateful for even having a chance to put a smile on the fan’s faces. That’s what it all boils down to after all.”

OFFICIAL TRUTH 101 PROOF – THE INSIDE STORY OF PANTERA will be officially released on March 12, but is available for pre-order NOW at Amazon! CLICK HERE TO PRE-ORDER YOUR COPY!

Stay tuned for further information.

Update On The Trial Of David Randall Blythe: A Fan Defends The LAMB OF GOD Frontman!

Yesterday (February 6), Metal Insider reported that David Randall Blythe was on his way home since his trial for manslaughter had been postponed until March 4. Well, in actuality the trial has not been officially
postponed yet. While Blythe's defense team asked for the trial to be postponed due to the fact that one witness fell ill and two criminal psychologists who were expected to testify were unable to attend this week, the court hasn't postponed the trial yet.

This is what happened today, Thursday, February 7:

According to WTVR.com, Lukas Havlena, a fan of the band who attended the concert in which the incident that ended up costing the life of Daniel Nosek took place, defended Randy's actions by saying that he did not think Blythe was aggressive that night, and that fans should realize any aggressive behavior displayed on stage is just part of the show.

Havlena told the court during today's testimony that he contacted Blythe's defense team after reading accounts of what other witnesses were saying during the trial.

Contrary to the way other witnesses described the atmosphere at the concert, Havlena said that each time somebody got on the stage, Blythe made it clear they weren't allowed there.

If the trial is postponed, Randy will be allowed to return to the U.S. until his trial resumes. He indicated in court that he would definitely return to Prague next month.

The parents of the alleged victim, Daniel Nosek, are demanding compensation of 10 million Czech Koruna (approximately $530,000).

Blythe was imprisoned for five weeks in the Czech Republic after being detained on June 27, 2012 when the Grammy-nominated, Richmond, Virginia-based band arrived there for a show.

The singer was freed without charge in August but had to post $400,000 bail, then left the country, vowing to return for the trial.

Additionally, according to a report by WVTR (read it HERE) there were a lot of different versions of the events that took place three years ago, presented by the witnesses on Tuesday, February 5 at the trial. This definitely helps Randy's case, since without solid statements or evidence it will be hard for the jury to make a final decision.

So this is good news for Randy, but it doesn't mean that his nightmare is over. Here is what Randy posted yesterday regarding the trial.

We will keep you posted once more detailed information is available.
