Kirk Windstein Discusses his Musical Career with Down, Crowbar & Kingdom of Sorrow!
In the past year we've had the privilege of interviewing Kirk Windstein (Down, Crowbar, and Kingdom of Sorrow) three different times, and he is always a real cool guy to talk to. He is honest, humble, and is always in a good mood because he appreciates the support from the fans of all the bands that he is part of. Not only is Kirk part of three bands that have influenced thousands of musicians all over the world, but he is also an ambassador of the NOLA Heavy Music scene. Oh, and he also happens to write some of the best riffs in Heavy Music today!
But how does Kirk find time to write music for three bands, be a daddy, a soon to be husband, and take care of himself?
"There's more "down" time, no pun intended, then you think sometimes. All you really need is like an eight week span of nothing going on and you can can get a lot done. Once you get home and get settled in, get your house in order, your yard in order... Get back in that little normal groove of going to the gym and all that kind of shit. You find that you have more time then you think, and its time to start writing riffs." - Kirk Windstein on the interview below
Recently, Kirk performed a killer set with Kingdom Of Sorrow in Hartford, Connecticut at the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival. It was real cool to finally see Jamey Jasta and Kirk Windstein together on stage, which is a rarity since both men are in various bands and have very hectic schedules. Before the band took center stage at the Jägermeister stage, we had the chance to chat with Kirk about his musical career with Down, Crowbar, and Kingdom Of Sorrow. He also talked in detail about Down's future plans. This interview is not to be missed, so check it out!
