Immolation Announce North American Headlining Tour!

In March of 2010, New York Death Metal outfit Immolation released their eighth studio album titled "Majesty and Decay" via Nuclear Blast Records. The album was recorded in Millbrook Sound Studios in New York and produced by Paul Orofino. Mixing duties were handled by Zack Ohren who has previously worked with Decrepit Birth, Suffocation and All Shall Perish. In its first week "Majesty and Decay" sold 1,400 copies in the US, which landed it position No. 29 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart on Billboard. Now they are ready to hit the road and infect the masses with new music and plenty of classics!

Joining Immolation on tour will be Jungle Rot and Gigan. The tour will kick off at the Wreck Room in Toronto, Canada and will terminate at the Scout Bar in Houston, Texas. Here is a statement from the band regarding their upcoming North American tour:

"We are once again hitting the road here in the U.S. in October and are really excited to have both JUNGLE ROT and GIGAN join us for this tour," commented IMMOLATION bassist/vocalist Ross Dolan. "10 songs [plus two intros] of the strongest material we have ever written. The new material is more violent and aggressive, with fast sections that take us to a new level of speed and intensity, while complementing the dark and sullen heavier moments. There are plenty of miserable and militant movements to please the diehard and new IMMOLATION fans alike." - Immolation

Their new video for their song "A Golorious Epoch" was produced by Tommy Jones from the Studio in New Jersey.

Unearth's Trevor Phipps & Buz McGrath Discuss NEW Album & World Tour!

Unearth unleashed their fifth studio album titled "Darkness In the Light" on July 5th in North America via Metal Blade Records, and they proved once again that they sonically have what it takes to keep flying the Heavy Music flag up high with pride and plenty of adrenaline. The band is currently part of the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival and have had no problem at all delivering their famous blend of hard hitting Hardcore Metal to the masses. With "Darkness In the Light" Unearth made it clear that they are not going to kiss ass to the status quo by compromising their sound, image, and vision of disorder.

Recently, the band performed in Hartford, Connecticut, as part of the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival, and we had the chance to catch up with Unearth's vocalist Trevor Phipps and axe man Buzz McGrath right before the band took over center stage at the Jägermeister Stage. During the interviews we discussed their new album, life on the road, and their upcoming World Tour.

"I think this one is furthering our sound sine its more dynamic than our last couple of records. Its got a lot to offer... Its heavy! Its got melodic parts and great guitar work. I think the whole band band brought their A game." - Trevor Phipps

"Have a good time, all the time! I guess is our credo... We get up there, and try to convey the feelings that we have on stage of just having a good time to the people that are at the shows." - Buz McGrath

Without further due, here is our dual interview with Trevor and Buz from Unearth!

Behemoth's Nergal Featured on the Summer Issue of Terrorizer Magazine!

As we all know, Behemoth had to take a forced break when their vocalist/guitar Adam "Nergal" Darski was diagnosed with Leukemia early last year. In order for Nergal to get the treatment he needed, his fans united in order to find him a match that could donate some bone marrow in order for Nergal to be able to get a bone marrow transplant. Following the chemo therapy, and the bone marrow transplant, Nergal is cancer free!

In order to honor Poland's Heavy Metal ambassador, Terrorizer Magazine (The World's Most Dangerous Magazine) decided to make put Nergal on the cover of their Summer issue, along with in depth article about the Behemoth frontman! Here it is.

"I'm honored to be once again featured on the cover of most elite extreme Metal magazine! It’s a very well written, in depth story I couldn’t be more proud of. Read and enjoy!" - Nergal

Coheed and Cambria Dismiss Bassist Michael Todd

On July 10th, Coheed and Cambria bassist Michael Todd was arrested by Attleboro, MA Police, after showing a Walgreens pharmacist a note on his cell phone which said he had a bomb and that he wanted some Oxycontin. Oxycontin! Really? Then to make matters worse, he fled the scene via taxi with six bottles of pain pills. Police arrested him without any incidents outside of the Comcast Theater where Coheed and Cambria were scheduled to open up for Soundgarden (the band performed without him). He was charged with armed robbery and unlawful possession of prescription narcotics. He was released on July 25th after posting a $25,000 bail. Here is the Official statement from the band.

"After a lot of thought, introspection and discussion, Coheed and Cambria will be continuing our journey without bassist Michael Todd. We have spoken to him and this is a mutual decision between both parties. Michael was a great contributor; our hearts go out to his family and to all those who appreciate his talents. We wish him nothing but the very best.

"We are currently writing and recording songs for a new album, as well as a couple compilations this fall. We are very excited about how the songs are shaping up and can’t wait to share them with you.

"We'd like to thank Wes Styles for filling in for the live gigs in the interim, including the upcoming South America and Mexico shows. A belated thanks to Rob Gill for covering in Boston; and the biggest thank you to all of you for your unwavering support.

"A new chapter awaits." - Coheed and Cambria

Machine Head "Unto The Locust" Cover Art, Track Listing & Metal Hammer Special Edition!

After the success of "The Blackening", Machine Head decided that they were going to close the door on that album, and create something fresh sounding. With the current lineup (Robb Flynn: Vocals/Guitars, Phil Demmel: Guitars, Adam Duce: Bass, Dave McClain: Drums), Machine Head has finally found the stability needed for their music to grow like a monster. After the results of their two previous album (Through Ashes of Empires & The Blackening) the band has definitely proved that they the know exactly how to combine different sonic elements that can ensure them that the headbangers of the world lose their minds to their powerful music.

Machine Head have finished mixing their seventh studio album titled "Unto the Locust" (to be released on September 26/27, 2011 via Roadrunner Records), and are currently destroying stages at the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival were we had the chance to chat with Phil Demmel and Dave McClain about the new album (see below). The band will also be touring Australia and South America before the end of the year (tour-dates below).

Here is the track listing for "Unto The Locust" (Cover Art below):

10. Darkness Within [Acoustic] *

DVD: "The Making Of Unto The Locust" documentary

* Bonus Tracks

Additionally, Metal Hammer are set to release Machine Head's next album "Unto The Locust" in the UK with a special edition album fan-pack! Complete with 132-page special issue with exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the making of the new album, extensive interviews with every member, never-before-seen historic shots from the band's personal collections, a guide to their custom rigs, and a diary of their massive Mayhem tour happening this summer, this is the ultimate companion to the long-awaited follow-up to The Blackening, Metal Hammer's album of the decade. And that's not all! This exclusive fanpack also includes a 100% official patch, sticker sheet and poster. This is your chance to be part of Machine Head history!

"This is gonna be fucking awesome! It's ridiculous," says Robb Flynn of the venture. "I can't believe that there's going to be a magazine about us with a special edition of our new album. It's pretty mind-blowing, really. It's something really fucking cool for the fans, and it's something incredible for us too. We're all really stoked on this new record and we can't wait for everyone to hear what we've been doing in the studio. Releasing it this way on newsstands (not just record stores) makes it way cooler! You guys know how to make magazines, man! People over here in the US need to look at the UK and how you make magazines. You guys make people care about this stuff and you're real music fans. Get your niche and fuckin' ride it! People want cool shit and cool interviews. We're pumped about the whole idea!"

Cover Art of "Unto The Locust":

"It is a different record then 'The Blackening', but we feel like we stepped our game up again." - Phil Demmel

"We are super proud of this record. In the last three albums, including this one, we've had complete musical freedom to do what we want to do. It is the first time we have the same lineup for more than two records. We feel that as much as we love 'The Blackening', we feel really proud of this one and are certain that people will feel the same way about this record as they did with 'Through the Ashes of Empires' and 'The Blackening". - Dave McClain

Mastodon Reveals Track Listing of their NEW Album "The Hunter"

It has been confirmed that Atlanta's Art Rock masters Mastodon will be releasing their fifth studio album titled "The Hunter" on September 27 via Reprise/Warner Bros. The majority of the album was recorded at Doppler Studios in Atlanta, Georgia with producer Mike Elizondo. The drums were tracked at Sound City Studios, which is were Nirvana recorded their hit album "Nevermind".

Track listing:

01. Black Tongue
02. Curl Of The Burl
03. Blasteroid
04. Stargasm
05. Octopus Has No Friends
06. All The Heavy Lifting
07. The Hunter
08. Dry Bone Valley
09. Thickening
10. Creature Lives
11. Spectrelight
12. Bedazzled Fingernails
13. The Sparrow
14. The Ruiner (limited-edition bonus track)
15. Deathbound (limited-edition bonus track)

"When you listen to the songs, they don't sound as 'fun' as we perceive them to be, I guess; it's still pretty extremely heavy material. We had a few songs that were kind of, not left over from 'Crack The Skye', but just stuff that we wanted to be on that album, but that album kind of took on a whole different thing of its own and there were a few stragglers that were super-heavy and crazy that didn't make it, and we finally got to put them on this record. And then we wrote a whole bunch of brand new stuff. There's, like, 14 songs that we recorded. And it's sort all over the place — a lot of different sounds. Some straight-up classic-rock-sounding songs, straight-up death metal-sounding songs and some completely bizarre, weirdo rock songs that we're not really sure what they are, but we love them." - Brann Dailor (On Metal Hammer)

You can pre-order a limited-edition package of "The Hunter" at MastodonRocks.com. It includes:

- A CD/DVD housed in a digipack with an exclusive alternative artwork cover!
- A 20" x 30" lenticular poster featuring the album cover of the standard CD!
- An Augmented Reality Experience by Total Immersion that will contain exclusive content only available to this package!
- Plus an instant download of the band's first new album track, "Black Tongue" (available for sale through all participating digital music retailers).

Kirk Windstein Discusses his Musical Career with Down, Crowbar & Kingdom of Sorrow!

In the past year we've had the privilege of interviewing Kirk Windstein (Down, Crowbar, and Kingdom of Sorrow) three different times, and he is always a real cool guy to talk to. He is honest, humble, and is always in a good mood because he appreciates the support from the fans of all the bands that he is part of. Not only is Kirk part of three bands that have influenced thousands of musicians all over the world, but he is also an ambassador of the NOLA Heavy Music scene. Oh, and he also happens to write some of the best riffs in Heavy Music today!

But how does Kirk find time to write music for three bands, be a daddy, a soon to be husband, and take care of himself?

"There's more "down" time, no pun intended, then you think sometimes. All you really need is like an eight week span of nothing going on and you can can get a lot done. Once you get home and get settled in, get your house in order, your yard in order... Get back in that little normal groove of going to the gym and all that kind of shit. You find that you have more time then you think, and its time to start writing riffs." - Kirk Windstein on the interview below

Recently, Kirk performed a killer set with Kingdom Of Sorrow in Hartford, Connecticut at the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival. It was real cool to finally see Jamey Jasta and Kirk Windstein together on stage, which is a rarity since both men are in various bands and have very hectic schedules. Before the band took center stage at the Jägermeister stage, we had the chance to chat with Kirk about his musical career with Down, Crowbar, and Kingdom Of Sorrow. He also talked in detail about Down's future plans. This interview is not to be missed, so check it out!

In Flames Discuss Evolution of Latest Album & Perseverance!

For over 20 years the members of In Flames have been on a constant musical evolution, in which they have pushed the boundaries of the Gothenburg Swedish Melodic Death Metal scene to the limit. While some may say that the band has experimented way too much with their sound, the reality is that In Flames have always stood out for making sure that every record they release is a different chapter of the In Flames book. With the release of their 10th studio album titled "Sounds of a Playground Fading" on June 15 via Century Media, the band once again is proving that they do not like playing it safe.

As most of you probably know, In Flames had to pull out from their current run at the Rockstar Energy Mayhem festival due to a family emergency (click here for the Official Press Release). Luckily, we were able to see the band perform at the Mayhem Festival in Hartford, Connecticut, and to interview bassist Peter Iwers about their new album and how they have managed to persevere for so many years. We wish In Flames the best of luck!

"We always try to create music from a fans point of view. By fans, I mean us. We like to step out of the music as if somebody else wrote it. And when we do that, and when we like it... that's the key. We have tons of influences! A lot of artists in bands stay within their own genre to try to find influences, but we get it from everywhere! We incorporate that into our own music with no limits and try to do something fresh every time." - Peter Iwers (In Flames)

Episode One of the Horns Up Rocks Showcase Series!

We are extremely proud to announce that we have teamed up with Fontana's Bar in New York City to bring you a monthly showcase full of talented bands, in which our goal is to keep you entertained with a Heavy eclectic mix of music! Our goal since day one has always been to be multidimensional, and we truly believe that for episode one of the Horns Up Rocks Showcase Series all that attend will be very satisfied with this unique lineup.

On Thursday, September 1st, Horns Up Rocks and Fontana's Bar will host episode one of the Horns Up Rocks Showcase! Joining us that night will be Trial By Terror, Thinning The Herd, Fin'amor and Deathalizer. Additionally, our founder Jo Schüftan will be hosting and DJing the event, and the show will be recorded. Jo will also be interviewing every band. Here is some information about the bands:

- TRIAL BY TERROR: While many bands these days are labeling themselves as a Thrash Metal band, Trial By Terror didn't label themselves, they simply decided it was time to take the New York City Heavy Music scene by the balls through uncompromising music that possesses elements of Thrash Metal. Their objective is to breath new life back into the weakening Metal scene with lightning speed riffs and lyrics that are intelligible and powerful. BEHOLD the resurrection of HEAVY METAL!

- THINNING THE HERD: Thinning the Herd was formed in a cloud of smoke, within a recessed canyon deep inside your mind. They make music to sooth beasts souls - rendering them sensitive and comfortable people. Stoner Doom Rock at its best!

- FIN'AMOR: Brooklyn Based Symphonic Metal Band. Expressing emotions of depression, love, and loss through beautifully sculpted pieces. The name Fin'amor comes from a 12th century literary theme centered on the existence and prevalence of "pure" or "true" love. Too often on earth and in music is beauty lost because of our unwillingness to deviate from the complacency of our conformity, true love lost because of our inability to allow this abundance of beauty to encompass us when already surrounded by the hatred, violence, and tragedy that exist in our world.

- DEATHALIZER: This band starts right were Metallica and Pantera left off, mixing the best elements of groove and thrash Metal into an elegant and melodic speed Metal experience. Like their predecessors, Deathalizer is meant to be experienced live and pride themselves on putting an all out show. “We see a lot of bands that are too worried about their hardcore image” says Enmanuel Vanderlinder, lead singer of Deathalizer. “That’s fine by us, but we prefer to let the music do the talking. We want you to feel the guitars in your face, the drums in your guts and the bass in your nuts. We are confident that we will succeed at that.”

- Date/Time: Thursday, September 1st at 8 PM
- Location: Fontana's Bar, 105 Eldridge Street, New York, NY 10002-4482 (Subway: B or D trains to Grand St)
- Cost: $10
- Age Restrictions: 21+ with ID

TERROR Film Music VIdeo for "You're Caught"

Arguably considered one of the best Hardcore bands today, Terror decided to go against the grain and to film a video full of graphic violence and gore during and off day from their latest summer festival run in Europe. "You're Caught" will be posted online soon, so stay tuned for the band's horrific music video!

"You're Caught" will also be available on Terror's new DVD "Defining The Faith", which will be included in their CD/DVD reissue of their latest album, "Keepers Of The Faith". Between The Buried And Me Announces Fall North American Headlining Tour!

Are you a Between The Buried And Me (A.K.A. BTBAM) fan? Well, the band has just announced a fall North American headlining tour in support of their new LP titled "The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues" (info about tickets below). The award winning band will headline the 2011 "Saints & Sinners" Tour and launch the six week trek on October 27th in Charlotte, North Caroline. Supporting the band on this tour will be Animals as Leaders and TesseracT!

"It will be so exciting to get back out on the road and play some tunes for all our wonderful fans," said BTBAM guitarist Paul Waggoner. "Our anticipation for this tour is massive and I hope that sentiment is shared by all the Metal geeks out there. The bill is loaded with some of the most forward-thinking, virtuosic musicians in the genre and the audience can expect to hear all 12 notes in every humanly audible octave many times during the course of the evening!"

Released on April 12 via Metal Blade Records, "The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues" is a three-song strong, 30 minute tour de force of modern Heavy Music. Produced and engineered by the Grammy award winning David Bottrill (Tool, Muse, King Crimson, Dream Theater, etc.) with BTBAM, the record soared to #54 on the Billboard Top 200 chart in its first week of release while landing the #5 spot on the Hard Music chart, and #8 on the Independent Albums chart in its first week of release. "The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues" also debuted in Canada charting at #62 on the Top 200 Current chart, #6 on the Hard chart, and #14 on the Independent chart.

"The response to the new album has been absolutely amazing!", commented BTBAM's Tommy Rogers. "It's always a rewarding experience to hear excitement about the music we create. These days it's hard to judge what people think of new music, and the feedback on tour and the Internet has really motivated us to create an even more bad ass record for the second part of 'The Parallax'. See you all on tour!"

Rose Funeral Announce Album Title, Artwork & First Single is now Live!

Ohio's Rose Funeral have never been a one dimensional band, which is why their music mixes elements of Death Metal, Deathcore and even Melodic Tones! The band has just announced that their new album will be titled "Gates of Punishment". Here is the Official press release:

"Gates of Punishment" is a fitting progression of the band's dark and foreboding sound. Guest vocal appearances from Kate Alexander and Steve Tucker (Morbid Angel) add to the dark atmosphere that is created throughout the album. Seven string guitars tuned to drop A, haunting melodies, insane blasts and enough groove to keep heads banging will make this one of the heaviest releases of 2011.

Vocalist/guitarist Ryan Gardner adds, "We had the greatest time recording "Gates of Punishment". It is definitely a HUGE step for Rose Funeral. I can honestly say this album just crushes any release we have done. We are looking to turn heads and drop jaws with this album. "Gates of Punishment" is filled with intense blasts, fast paced solos, melodic harmonies, dark chords, pissed off vocals, and harsh breakdowns. This is the sound I have been searching for with Rose Funeral, and I couldn't be happier. All I can say is that with the guys I have, it will be a huge climb in sound every album from now on."

Track listing:

1. Legions of Ruination
2. Grotesque Mutilation
3. Beyond the Entombed
4. False Divine (feat. Steve Tucker)
5. Arise Infernal Existence
6. Malignant Amour (feat. Kate Alexander)
7. A Recreant Canticle
8. The Desolate Form
9. Entercism
10. Amidst Gehenna
11. Gates of Punishment

Biohazard Reveal NEW Album Title & Artwork

It has been six years since New York City Hardcore legends Biohazard released their eighth studio album titled "Means to an End". After beating up many obstacles, including the sudden departure of singer/bassist Evan Seinfeld in June, Biohazard are set to unleash their new album titled "Reborn In Defiance" on September 23rd via Nuclear Blast Records.

"We had a great time recording this album and we're psyched about it. We're really looking forward to having everyone hear it and to get back on the road to rip it up!" - Billy Graziadei

"I think it's one of the best albums we've ever done, so we're ready to see what the future holds." - Danny Schuler

The album features the original Biohazard lineup which consists of Evan Seinfeld (vocals, bass), Billy Graziadei (guitar, vocals), Danny Schuler (drums) and Bobby Hambel (guitar). The album was produced by the very talented Toby Wright, who is known for his past work with Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Fear Factory, Korn, Mötley Crüe, Kiss, In Flames and Stone Stour, just to mention a few.

The big question that all Biohazard fans have is: what happened with Evan Seinfeld? This is what singer/guitarist Billy Graziadei had to say about this matter.

"It dropped like a bombshell. It kind of came up from left field. We finished tracking the record in late February and really didn't have much contact with him that much. Everything was through management and I was working on the mix with Toby and some additional overdubs and different ideas and some piano and keyboard stuff. Then a couple of weeks ago he calls up and says, 'I can't do it anymore!' He's got a bunch of personal stuff and it's mostly secret. But it's personal between… it's what's going on in his life, but he made a decision and we weren't happy about it, but we made our decision to continue and keep going. It would be great if he was here and I know he's proud of the record and as happy as it came out as we are. We were all there and made it together and focused equally on it, but rather to let it die out, we said, 'You know what? Fuck it! We're all psyched and happy and even though things are different it doesn't mean much has changed!' The heart and soul of the band is still intact and we're gonna continue."

Ever since Seinfeld left the band, Scott Roberts became his temporary replacement. The band is actively looking for a permanent replacement, but rest assured that the band is ready to put on the fight of their lives!
