Motörhead's Lemmy Kilmister Turns 66 Years Old!

Heavy Metal icon Ian Fraser Kilmister (A.K.A. Lemmy Kilmister) from Motörhead is celebrating his 66th birthday today! Please put your Horns Up, serve yourself some Jack and Coke, and crank up some Motörhead! HEAVY birthday Lemmy, we love you! \m/

For over thirty-five Lemmy Kilmister has been changing the face of Heavy Metal and has been making it a lot more fun. After a quick stint with Hawkwind, Lemmy realized that he was ready to form his own band and become the emblem of such band. In 1975, Lemmy formed Motörhead and immediately started making his presence be felt by helping to launch the "New Wave of British Heavy Metal"!

In the early 80's Motörhead had several singles in the UK Top 40 chart. Their albums "Overkill", "Bomber", "Ace of Spades", and "No Sleep 'til Hammersmith", engraved Motörhead as one of the most important Heavy Metal bands to ever come from the UK. To this day, you hear Motörhead's music on movies, TV shows, and covered by bands all over the world. As we all know, Lemmy is one of the most influential Heavy Metal icons of all time, and whoever said that Lemmy is God, is absolutely right.

Motörhead's 21st studio album "The World Is Yours" was released in February of this year, and it is considered one of the best albums in the long killer history of the Motörhead franchise. The first track “Born to Lose", which is Lemmy’s slogan (he has it tattooed on his right arm) kicks off the album with furious power. Then, one song after the other the Motörhead train gets loaded on Jack and Coke without losing focus and keeping their batteries charged.

The 2011 Album Of The Year: Anthrax 'Worship Music' - Recap Video Available!

After eight years of patiently waiting for some new Anthrax music, on September 13, 2011, Anthrax's global fan-base finally got to quench their musical thirst with some new music by New York's Thrash Metal legends. Their NEW album 'Worship Music' dropped the day before the band played The Big 4 show at Yankee Stadium. 'Worship Music' also marked the return of Joey Belladonna on vocals, who is singing with Anthrax for the first time since 1990's 'Persistence of Time', and sounds better than ever.

Anthrax's 30th anniversary was celebrated in style with the release of 'Worship Music', an album with a very straightforward message: "Everybody has the bands they like. This fans get very excited with what they hear and pretty much love the style of the band... then they stay loyal to that band forever", commented Joey Belladonna.

Prior to the release of 'Worship Music', on September 12th Anthrax played a FREE show in their hometown of New York City. The event also featured the 'Metal Masters Clinic 2', which took place right before Anthrax took center stage. Once on stage, Anthrax performed a handful of NEW songs for the first time ever and the crowd responded with a massive roar!

On September 14th, the day of the 'Big Four' concert at Yankee Stadium in New York City, this day was declared "Anthrax Day" by Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. Once on stage, event though it was only 4:30 PM, Anthrax warmed up the ear buds and necks of thousands of headbangers!

After the 'Big 4', Anthrax went on tour with Testament and Death Angel. The tour was such a big success, that the bands are doing it again in 2012 (all tourdates are listed below). In order to commemorate Anthrax's triumph, we produced the following video. Congratufuckinlations ANTHRAX! \m/

PUi "Army Of Slaves" - Video of the Year in the Tri-state Area Underground Heavy Music Scene!

When PUi premiered their brand NEW music video for their single ‘Army of Slaves’ at their recent sold out show at Irving Plaza in New York, NY, our eyes were enthralled by the concept, the production value, and the content of the video. In addition to depicting scenes reflecting PUi’s aggressive and profoundly eclectic sound, the video includes a scene portraying the band in a portal room being teleported to Earth as well as fan-filmed footage of the band’s recent stunt performed in front of a surprised crowd atop a public building in New York City.

New York City's PUi debut video for "Army Of Slaves" in our humble opinion is the Video of the Year in the Tri-state Area Underground Heavy Music Scene! As a prize, Horns Up Rocks will be producing an in-depth interview with frontman NC Shuva in early 2012!

PUi released an EP in January 2010 entitled, You Will Clap, which is available for purchase now on iTunes. The EP was recorded at Underground Studios and was produced by band members Shuva and Brian Hosey. It is mixed by Kyle Kelso and mastered by Howie Weinberg. The band plans on releasing a new full-length album within the next year, entitled Neo-Primal.

PUi is:

- Prince (Nazimcan Shuva) // Vocals, Guitar
- Siren (Leo Henry) // Vocals
- Shaa (Ory Baum) // Drums
- Sub (Brian Hosey) // Bass
- Tek (Tunch) // Darbuka, Percussion

Metallica PREMIERE 30th Year Anniversary Recap Video Of Night 2 (Starring: King Diamond)!

Heavy Metal icons Metallica, recently celebrated their first 30 years of existence at the legendary Fillmore in San Franciso, California. Below you can watch the Official recap of the second night of these historic series of events.

It all started in 1981 when Lars Ulrich placed an ad in Los Angeles free newspaper The Recyler: "Drummer looking for other metal musicians to jam with the Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head and Iron Maiden". Fast forward thirty years and Metallica is the biggest and most important band in Heavy Music history. In those 30 years the band has sold over 100 million records, have won 6 Grammy's, have dominated the Heavy Music charts many times, and have reinvented themselves over and over again. Some may call them sellouts, but the truth is that they sell out every show they do!

Either Way - So is the Tongue by Nefarious Industries

Bearing seven tracks containing over forty-three minutes of material, 'A Child Of Divorce' was executed utilizing the talents of some of So Is The Tongue's close friends and associates; the instrumental tracks recorded at The Thousand Caves by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Krallice), the vocals recorded by Chris Alfano (East of the Wall) and the artwork completed by Nick Shellenberger (Cleric). 'A Child Of Divorce' will be released on 180-gram LP format -- limited to 300 copies -- and deluxe digital download on January 17th, 2012, via Nefarious Industries, a tight-knit indie label recently formed by several friends who perform in So Is The Tongue, East Of The Wall, El Drugstore and more.

The band have also updated their upcoming live schedule with more January shows confirmed, including a four-date run comprised of all Nefarious Industries bands including A Fucking Elephant, El Drugstore and the DRX in addition to So Is The Tongue. More dates are being confirmed for the coming weeks as well.

GWAR Releases Last Recording With Guitarist Cory Smoot!

GWAR has just released the last track ever recorded with guitarist Cory Smoot. Smoot passed away on November 3rd during the bands "Return of the World Maggot Tour", from a coronary artery thrombosis brought about by his pre-existing coronary artery disease. Cory adopted the role of Gwar’s red-faced, white-dreadlocked, dinosaur-shoulder-padded alien guitarist, "Flattus Maximus", in 2002, Smoot was considered by fans as the “True Flattus” since he was the longest serving axman to play the character. He was also a major songwriter on the four Gwar albums he played on. After his death, bandleader Oderus Urungus announced that the character Flattus Maximus would be retired.

Gwar’s cover of Dayglo Abortions’ 1993 anti-censorship anthem “Isn’t This Disgusting,” is now available on iTunes. All proceeds from the track will got to the Smoot Family Fund. The single will be included on the Dayglo Abortions tribute album, which will be released next year.

“The Dayglos have always been one of my favorite bands ever since we played a show with them 25 years ago. So when we heard about this project we were completely stoked, not just with the idea, but the song selected for us. It pretty much sums up my whole attitude. But I had no idea it would the last time I worked with Cory Smoot in the studio. This track has Cory’s last studio leads, and as usual, they fucking rip. Cory may have left us but his music will live forever. CRANK IT!” - Gwar frontman Oderus Urungus

In other GWAR related news, Oderus and Balsac were recently "hired" by MTV's Next Movie to review the new Steven Spielberg's new epic, "War Horse". Are your Mutant Overlords the next Siskel and Ebert???

Goregrind legends Exhumed played their first U.S. show in over six years at the 2011 edition of the 'Maryland Deathfest' and thanks to NPR, the set -- in all its uncensored glory -- is available for your consumption at the link below.

Exhumed released their 'All Guts, No Glory' full-length earlier this year via Relapse Records. The record continues to reap critical acclaim from fans and critics nationally and has left it's grisly mark on multiple Year End lists including Decibel, Pitchfork, NPR.org, MetalSucks and Skulls N Bones!

Said vocalist/guitarist menace Matt Harvey: "2011 has been a great year for the band. We've had a killer time scraping off the rust on the gore Metal machine and getting back on the road and partying with necromaniacs all over the place. It's amazing how many people have enjoyed our racket and have actually said nice things about our record -- sometimes even in public! We have a lot of shit planned for next year and we're chomping at the bit to continue subjecting the universe to more of our god awful noise! See you on the road...or at the bar. Play fast or die, dudes. Cheers!"

As previously announced, Exhumed will be showering Brazil with their infernal live rituals this Winter with Aborted. This will mark the band's first time ever in the country.

EXHUMED w/ Aborted:

- 2/17/2012: Music Hall in Belo Horizonte, MG
- 2/18/2012: Hangar 110 in São Paulo, SP
- 2/19/2012: Hangar Bar in Curitiba, PR
- 2/20/2012: Bar Opinião in Porto Alegre, RS

Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe - 5 Tips For Aspiring Musicians!

Randy Blythe from Lamb Of God is considered one of the top vocalists in Heavy Music today. Revolver Magazine, recently unleashed their 100th issue and in order to make this very special issue a BIG hit, they decided to pay tribute to the '100 Greatest Living Rock Stars'. During this special feature, Revolver Magazine asked Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe to offer some useful advice for aspiring musicians.

1. “Get a college degree.”

2. “Be nice to everyone. Don’t act like an entitled fuck because the people you see on the way up are going to be the same people you see on the way down. And you never know what’s gonna happen. There are no guarantees in this business. It could all disappear tomorrow and if your career goes down the shitter you might need to call in a few favors. Maybe someone needs a new band member, and if you’ve been nice to them, maybe they’ll think of you, but if you were a dick, that’s all they’ll remember.”

3. “Treat your crew with respect. They’re the reason you aren’t schlepping your own gear anymore.”

4. “Don’t trash the fucking dressing room at the venue, unless the owner of the venue is a complete asshole, because somebody has to come in there and clean it up. It might be someone’s grandma.”

5. “Don’t blow your money on a bunch of stupid shit like drugs and alcohol if you can help it. Save some. Again, there is no guarantee in this business. There’s no pension plan or retirement fund. One day you aren’t going to be the shit anymore and you aren’t gonna have a band. You can’t go on tour and make money. So don’t buy an Escalade, get a goddamn used Honda. I’ve never owned a new car in my life. I bought a nice Toyota truck with not that many miles on it last year. That’s the nicest thing I’ve ever bought.”

Lamb Of God is set to release their seventh studio entitled "Resolution" and it is set to be released on January 24, 2012 via Epic Records (one day earlier internationally through Roadrunner). The CD was producer Josh Wilbur, who worked on the band's last effort, 2009's "Wrath".

The Devil Wears Prada Set To Unleash "Zombie Slay" Android Application!

Zombie Slay," the first-person, multi-level action game where you kill zombies and help ensure Mankind's survival, is being made available for Android. The game, released for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch in October, can be downloaded for $1.99 by Android users beginning Friday, December 23 where Android games are sold.

"Zombie Slay" was the brainchild of Metalcore's hottest rising stars, The Devil Wears Prada, and was the next logical step to follow the success of the band's 'Zombie EP' and its accompanying limited-edition comic book, "Zombie, The Comic!," both released in 2010. The "Zombie" comic book was penned by "Day by Day Armageddon - A Zombie Novel" writer JL Bourne, and illustrated by Kevin Mellon who also produced the artwork for "Zombie Slay." The band and its management team, Fly South Music Group, enlisted the Orlando-based mobile development company, Echo Interaction Group, to build and develop the "Zombie Slay" game.

"Zombie Slay," featuring all five songs from the 'Zombie EP', challenges gamers to survive and save survivors in a post-apocalyptic world by killing as many zombies as possible. The game offers a range of difficulty levels, realistic city and suburban locations, a variety of zombies to eradicate, gamer achievement levels and a cache of weapons that can be upgraded with accumulated points on all levels. It also features randomly-generated gameplay at all levels that challenges both casual and hardcore gamers and promotes return-to-game play, an OpenFeint interface that enables players to compete against each other anywhere in the world, and social integration. Fans can receive "Zombie Slay" news, updates and other information at www.ZombieSlay.com.

About the original idea and concept for the game, The Devil Wears Prada's lead vocalist Mike Hranica commented, "When we had the idea to write songs based on the Zombie chaos, one of the enticing side effects was being able to do cool stuff outside of the EP itself. We've always liked the idea of offering our fans something really unique. We're all a bunch of game nerds and we spend a lot of down time on tour playing with games and apps. If TDWP fans want what we want with this kind of thing, then they should love 'Zombie Slay.'"

The Devil Wears Prada's recently-releaesed full-length album, 'Dead Throne', debuted at #10 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums charts, and has already landed on a number of "Best of 2011" lists. The band recently wrapped up its "Dead Throne Tour: North America 2011", click here to see our exclusive image gallery.

Slayer's Kerry King Discusses The Possibility Of Future 'Big 4' Concerts!

During a recent interview with Classic Rock Magazine, Slayer's Kerry King discussed the possibility of future 'Big 4' concert. In case you have been living under a rock, the 'Big 4' are composted of Thrash Metal icons Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax!

“If you look at how much work went into making it all happen in the first place, then I really doubt we can do the same thing again," commented Slayer guitarist Kerry King. “You had four headlining bands – Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and us – touring together and that takes so much organizing.

“I know there are some parts where they’re angry not to have gotten the chance to see it. The Bay Area will probably never forgive us. And we could go on and on doing it for ages. But I honestly doubt we can get our schedules to coincide like that again.”

Slayer are currently writing songs for their 12th studio album, their goal is to have it out in the second half of 2012.

Slayer are also one of the headline attractions for the 'All Tomorrow’s Parties I’ll Be Your Mirror', which is scheduled to take place at London’s Alexandra Palace during the weekend of May 25, 2012. Slayer will be playing their groundbreaking album 'Reign In Blood' in its entirety.
