PANTERA's Rex Brown Owes The IRS A TON Of Dough Due To Back Taxes!

According to USA Today, former PANTERA and DOWN bassist Rex Brown owes nearly a half million dollars to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Brown owes $449,567 to the federal government in back taxes and penalties, according to five tax liens filed by the Internal Revenue Service. The most recent and largest lien, for $210,157, was filed in his home state of Texas in January. Other liens were addressed to a Los Angeles accounting firm that handles entertainers. A sixth lien for $72,695 was released by the IRS in 2008, a sign those back taxes were paid.

The federal government can seize Brown's share of PANTERA's revenue, including royalties from his shared record and songwriting credits, if a payment plan is not worked out. PANTERA still makes money. It is credited with creating groove metal, a subgenre of heavy metal, and still gets airplay. Rhino Records will release a deluxe version of the band's most influential record, 'Vulgar Display of Power', on iTunes May 15.

Brown's NEW band, Kill Devil Hill, hits the road later this month and releases its first record in May 22nd via SPV/Steamhammer..
