Which Regions Have The Highest Metal-Bands-Per-Capita Ratio On The Planet? Stats Available!

TIME Magazine posted a quick blurb regarding the highest Metal-bands-per-capita ratio on the planet and the results explain a lot on how booking agents setup the different artists tours around the world. Finland is most Metallic with 53.5 Metal bands per 100,000 people, followed by Sweden and Norway tied at 27.2, and then Iceland at 22.7. By comparison, the U.S. and UK, where much of metal got its start, could only manage a paltry 5.5 and 5.2, respectively.

Here are some of the numbers gathered by Enciclopedia Metallum:

- Lebanon: 0.82
- United Kingdom: 5.2
- United States: 5.53
- Portugal: 9.17
- Malta: 11.71
- Iceland: 22.7
-  Sweden and Norway: 27.25 Metal bands per 100,000 people
- Finland: 53.52

Brandon Geist (Editor In Chief Of Revolver Magazine) commented, "Why? They're very attuned to their pagan, Viking history. That's a huge part of Metal culture, especially with rebellious teens."
