With the release of their seventh album ‘Resolution,’ Lamb Of God introduced NEW elements to their sound, especially on tracks like the epic "King Me", which featured an opera singer and backing orchestra. Willie said that fans should expect the Lamb Of God sound to continue to evolve on future albums. “We’re at a point in our career where we can venture out and do things that aren’t strictly Metal, or what we’ve done in the past… we’re breaking some boundaries that we’ve never touched on before, so hopefully we’ll continue to do so.”
As well as touring the globe in support of ‘Resolution,’ Lamb Of God have been busy filming for their upcoming film, "As The Palaces Burn". Willie explained: “We’re working on a feature film that’s geared more toward the fans and the impact that Heavy Metal in general has on them and their lives.”
Willie added that the band wanted to break away from the mold and release a different kind of DVD, rather than put out another concert film. “We’ve done quite a few DVDs that feature the band; I’m not saying this won’t, but it is mainly geared towards the fans experience."
Even with their unrelenting schedule, Lamb Of God have taken a hands-on approach for making the film. “We’ve talked to each and every one of the people that have been interviewed for the film”, Willie revealed. “It’s amazing to me that we can create something that inspires them to go to the lengths that they do to catch a show. You know, their driving twelve hours to come see us play for an hour. It’s amazing."
Fans in Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, India, and Israel have already had their chance to feature in the movie; while filming in the United States is set to take place over the summer months.
"As The Palaces Burn" is being directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Don Argott and produced by 9.14 Pictures (Last Days Here, Art of the Steal, Rock School). The film documents the lives of Lamb Of God fans who are living in some of the most terror-stricken corners of the globe and shows how Heavy Metal music has helped them to cope. A trailer for the film, which also feature’s LOG’s latest film clip, ‘Desolation’ can be found below.
