BOWER POWER: DOWN, EYEHATEGOD & HAARP = Triple Dose Of Lethal NOLA Metal!

Following a successful takeover of Australia, Louisiana’s favorite Hardcore, blues-based, post-amplificated dirgesmiths, EYEHATEGOD, brought their sonic debauchery to Brooklyn, New York for two very special concerts. The shows furious show took place on Monday, November 27 and Tuesday, November 28 at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn.

During the conversation we discussed the present and future of EYEHATEGOD, and about the NEW DOWN EP 'Down IV: Part 1 (The Purple EP)'! We also chatted about the differences between touring with two bands that are of complete different calibers. Bower also discussed the NOLA music scene, and how bands like haarp and WARBEAST are worth for everyone to listen to.

Without further due, here is our exclusive interview with Jimmy Bower! We also added an extra bonus interview with haarp's drummer Keith Sierra Jr, right after the bands New York City show with DOWN! Sit back, grab a cold one, and enjoy!

SUICIDE SILENCE Release Poster For Mitch Lucker Memorial Show!

As previously announced, the surviving members of SUICIDE SILENCE will play a special show on December 21 at the Fox theater in Pomona, California as a tribute to their late singer, Mitch Lucker. All proceeds from the event will go towards the education of Mitch's five-year-old daughter, Kenadee Lucker. The concert announcement was made last night (Saturday, November 24) during the sixth annual California Metalfest at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, California. Here is the official event poster:

The Heavy Music world was struck by the very sad news that Mitchell Adam Lucker passed away at the young age of 28 (More information HERE). According to the Los Angeles Times, Lucker struck a light pole near the intersection of Main and 13th streets and was thrown from his 2013 Harley Davidson. The motorcycle continued sliding south on Main Street and struck a northbound 2007 Nissan Titan pickup.

Speaking to the audience, SUICIDE SILENCE guitarist Mark Heylmun said (see video HERE), "We fucking lost our brother; I'm sure you all know that. We all miss him more than anything in the fucking world."

The remaining members of the band have set up a memorial fund for Mitch Lucker’s family following the singer’s tragic death last week. Here is their statement regarding this matter:

Fans who wish to donate can do so via the link below, with donations of $20 of more receiving a commemorative t-shirt as a token of thanks. All proceeds will go towards the educational fund of Mitch’s five-year-old daughter, Kenadee.

Music History: Johnny Depp Jams With Alice Cooper - Video Available!

Last night, actor/musician/badass Johnny Depp stepped onstage during Alice Coopers concert at Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, California and performed the Doors' "Break On Through (To the Other Side)," the first of several classic rock covers, and he remained for the rest of the show as just one of four guitarists supporting Cooper, who stood amid grave markers for late icons Jimi Hendrix, Keith Moon, Jim Morrison and John Lennon. During a cover of the Beatles' "Revolution," Depp leaned into the riff Keith Richards-style as Cooper offered the peace sign, singing, "Don't you know it's gonna be all right!" Depp also joined Cooper during the classic song "School's Out"

Here is some video footage of this awesome moment in music:

It has been confirmed that actor and musician Johnny Depp will be jamming with the King Of Shock Rock Alice Cooper on December 8 at Comerica Theater in Phoenix, Arizona at the legendary rocker's 12th annual Christmas Pudding. Johnny will join Alice and his band, along with other scheduled performers Don Felder and L.A. GUNS, and special guest host John O'Hurley for a night of music, dance, and mayhem.

SOILWORK Reveal NEW Album Artwork & Track Listing!

'The Living Infinite', the ninth studio album and first dual-disc release by Swedish melodic Metal maestros SOILWORK, will be unleashed on February 27th in Asia (via license to Marquee Records), in Europe on March 1st, and in North America on March 5th.

Produced by Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, BLOODBATH), 'The Living Infinite' features artwork by MNEMIC’s Mircea Eftemie Gabriel who shares:

"Seven years ago, I created the artwork for the Stabbing The Drama album and I can’t believe how time flies!  Here we are, with sexy gray hairs, working with my friends in SOILWORK again. This time, we built the cover around a maritime concept, aiming for something direct and symbolic.  I believe we achieved that quite well.  From my creative deck, I salute you and say: ‘Long Live The Living Infinite.’"

SOILWORK states:

“After commissioning some pretty elaborate covers for the last couple of records, we decided to try something more sober and design-oriented for The Living Infinite.  Who better to call than the man who created the iconic Stabbing The Drama cover?  Mircea Gabriel Eftemie is not only a close friend but also an incredible graphic designer.  We’re all stoked about his work which is different from anything SOILWORK has ever done and perfectly suits the elegant oceanic concept of The Living Infinite.  Enjoy folks!”

Tracklisting for The Living Infinite is as follows:

- CD 1

01. Spectrum Of Eternity
02. Memories Confined
03. This Momentary Bliss

ARCH ENEMY's Chaotic Concert In Peru Loses Electrical Power, But The Show Must Go On!

South and Latin America are quickly becoming one of the most powerful markets in the world when it comes to Heavy Music! ARCH ENEMY is currently spreading their destructive furious Heavy Metal to 1000s of hungry Latinos. Last night (October 29), they performed at the Centro De Convenciones Scencia De La Molina, in Lima, Peru. Here is what the band had to say about a very chaotic, yet awesome show!

"Lima, Peru was INSANE!!! Total punk rock show, power went out, amps went down, LED video screens died early in the set.. It all went wrong and yet it was the perfect show. We had so much fun! Thank you for the bottle of Pisco appearing out of nowhere onto stage during one of the power cuts.. haha. Genius! We emptied that bottle of course.

"We are off to Costa Rica, we just heard more than 2.000 tickets are sold.. This show is going to be crazy!"

Due to popular demand, ARCH ENEMY have added a second show in Mexico City. They have also announced that they will be performing their epic album 'Wages Of Sin' in its entirety.

Here Is SUFFOCATION's Demonic Album Cover For 'Pinnacle of Bedlam'!

New York Death Metal veterans SUFFOCATION have revealed the cover artwork for their upcoming album, 'Pinnacle of Bedlam'. Artwork was handled this time around by artist Raymond Swanland (DEEDS OF FLESH, PSYCROPTIC).

“This artwork is a perfect portrayal of our music,” commented bassist Derek Boyer. “The cover depicts lyrical content like ‘scales tip in degradation’ and ‘hooded messenger of death is now set forth, punishment for all.’ Raymond is an absolute BEAST of an artist!”

Added guitarist Guy Marchais:

“The artwork for Pinnacle brings another element to an already brutal album.  Raymond knew exactly what we were looking for and delivered!”

The record was produced by the band and tracked at Full Force Studios in New York by longtime collaborator Joe Cincotta. The mixing and mastering was handled this time around by world renowned producer/engineer Zeuss (HATEBREED, ARSIS, SUICIDE SILENCE). 'Pinnacle of Bedlam' will feature 10 genre-defining-bone-crushing tracks and also marks the return of drummer Dave Culross, who played with the band previously on their 'Despise The Sun' EP.

'Pinnacle of Bedlam' is tentatively scheduled for a February 2013 via Nuclear Blast in North America.

Frank Mullen, front man for New York Death Metal veterans SUFFOCATION, recently gave an interview to Horns Up Rocks that spread very quickly about him no longer performing with the band full time:

MOTÖRHEAD's "Complete Early Years Box Set" To Be Sold For $600??? Lemmy Is Not Happy!

Wow! The company who owns the rights to MOTÖRHEAD's early recordings will be releasing a NEW box set this December that is appropriately titled "Complete Early Years Box Set". While the box set is pretty kick ass, the price sucks! $600 for the damn thing?! Lemmy and the rest of the band are not happy!

Earlier this year, the band was able to stop the release of the box set because of the insane price. But as mentioned above the box set will be released this December since MOTÖRHEAD have no control over what's done with these early songs, and they want to make sure fans are completely aware that they have no involvement whatsoever in releasing such an expensive box set.

Before the initial release was blocked, MOTÖRHEAD's iconic frontman Lemmy said:

"Unfortunately, greed once again rears its yapping head. I would advise against it even for the most rabid completists!"

He now adds: "It really bothers me that these people would put this out at these prices especially in this day and age, when money is tight. There you go again labels, trying to squeeze out every last dime you can from our fans.

"But they reap what they sow, don't they? Look what's going on with the music business. These are fine examples of corporate greed: reissuing the same stuff over and over again, overcharging the customers with outrageous pricing, basically trying to rape our fan base.

"Although we still make money from record sales, this is not the way I ever intended it. I don't like to see fans getting ripped off or taken advantage of. And that's what's happening here."

"If fans do want to gift a loved one with some new MOTÖRHEAD product this holiday, by all means, please pick up the band's most recent "The Wörld Is Ours - Vol 2 - Anyplace Crazy As Anywhere Else", the follow-up to 2011's "The Wörld Is Ours - Vol 1 - Everywhere Further Than Everyplace Else"." Right now, we are giving away 4 copies of the VINYL version of this awesome release. Click HERE to enter our contest!

To order the "Complete Early Years Box Set", go to this location.

As previously reported, MOTÖRHEAD, have announced that they will be entering the studio in January with longtime producer Cameron Webb to begin recording their next studio album for a mid-2013 release. "We'll go into the rehearsal room about a month before the album and just bang stuff out," MOTÖRHEAD mainman Lemmy Kilmister tells Billboard.com.

Ozzy Osbourne Talks About The NEW BLACK SABBATH Album & The Bands Legacy!

It has been announced that BLACK SABBATH's NEW album is tentatively scheduled for release in April 2013 via Vertigo/Universal Republic in the U.S. and Vertigo in all other territories.

According to Blabbermouth, Scott Kara of The New Zealand Herald chatted with "the prince of darkness": BLACK SABBATH's very own Ozzy Osbourne. Here are a few parts of the interview.

On how BLACK SABBATH came to be such a respected band:

Osbourne: "It's a really weird thing, because what we did, we just did. We didn't go, 'Oh, we're going to write this way, and we're going to record that way, and it's going to come out like this'. And 45 years up the road who would have thought it's still going to be current and people were going to look upon it as the foundations of heavy metal? I mean, you don't realize that sort of thing, you just do it."

On not being completely comfortable with BLACK SABBATH being considered originators of the "Heavy Metal" genre:

Osbourne: "Not everything BLACK SABBATH did was about the devil, or about Heavy Metal because 'Changes' was a beautiful song. But all they ever remember is that I sing about the devil and 'Iron Man', you know."

On how the members of BLACK SABBATH — with the exception of drummer Bill Ward, who is sitting out the band's reunion due to a contractual dispute — are getting along nowadays:

Osbourne: "What's different now is that none of us get drunk or stoned or any of that stuff. We're all clean, and all in control of ourselves, we're not intimidated by each other, there are no arguments, and it's the way it should be. But when we were kids we had egos. When you're 21 and you get some success it takes a while to get your head around. You have an ego, you have the spoils of success, the cars, the houses, the money, the alcohol, the drugs, the groupies, and all the rest of it, and if you go through all of that and you are lucky enough to survive you get married, you get divorced, you get married again, and it's a journey. But we've done it all so what it boils down to now is the music - and that's what got us where we are in the first place. We have come through the other side, we're still able to work together, and that's where the enjoyment comes from. It's been a lot of fun making this record."

On the recording sessions for the new BLACK SABBATH album, which were interrupted by guitarist Tony Iommi's diagnosis with lymphoma at the beginning of this year:

Osbourne: "[The treatment] has been a bit rough on him but he still manages to come up with those great riffs. It's been more than 30 years since I really seriously worked with the guys. We had a try a few years back but nothing came of it. But for some reason the timing is right and we've done about 15 songs. BLACK SABBATH is very unique in the respect that nothing is formulated. It's very unpredictable. I just hope the people who have waited all these years aren't disappointed."

KREATOR Unleash NEW Music Video For "Civilization Collapse"

German Thrash Metal titans KREATOR recently unleashed a NEW 7 inch entitled 'Civilization Collapse' (retail version: black; Nuclear Blast mailorder-only version: red, yellow, white) and as a digital download.

The single contains the title cut backed by the non-album track "Wolfchild", which was featured on the "Dark Symphonies - A Tribute To John Sinclair" album, released this past September in Germany via Lübbe-Audio. The band also made a video for the song "Civilization Collapse", which is said to be "mainly about the riots that took place in Greece most recently."

While researching the above-mentioned riots, the KREATOR art direction team became aware of Marios Lolos, president of the Greek union of journalistic photographers. In the past, Greek photographers have become victims of police brutality and Marios himself barely got out alive when he was subjected to one of these extreme attacks.

When KREATOR showed Marios the song and the lyrics, he immediately agreed participate by offering parts of his huge photographic archives.

Today, the great folks over at Metal Hammer are premiering the bands music video for "Civilization Collapse":

KREATOR is:

- Miland 'Mille' Petrozza: Vocals, guitar
- Sami Yli-Sirniö: Guitar
- Christian 'Speesy' Giesler: Bass
- Jürgen 'Ventor' Reil: Drums

Randy Blythe: "They lost their son and that's about as bad as it gets for a human being, to lose a child"

While LAMB OF GOD is currently destroying the United States in support of their latest album 'Resolution' (available now via Epic Records & Roadrunner Records), Randy Blythe's legal nightmare is not over yet.

As previously reported, Blythe was arrested on June 28 this year at the Prague Airport on charges of causing, “bodily harm of the fourth degree, resulting in the death of a fan:” an event that allegedly took place during a Lamb Of God concert on May 24, 2010. Blythe was detained in a Czech Republic prison for thirty seven days before he was released on bail.

Blythe recently spoke to U.K.'s Metal Hammer about his legal affairs and how he is killing time while he waits to hear from the Czech Republic to see if he heas to to return to Prague in order to face trial. Here are a few excerpts of the interview, which you can read in its entirety on the October 2012 issue of the magazine.

Metal Hammer: The statement you put out was very respectful to the family involved and obviously that was important to you.

Blythe: "It was hugely important. That's the worst thing about this. Going to prison sucks, and being in prison is not fun, but what I went through and the uncertainty I face now is absolutely nothing compared to what this family is going through. They lost their son and that's about as bad as it gets for a human being, to lose a child. That's not supposed to happen. I can't claim responsibility for this because I am innocent, I believe that in my heart of hearts; if I thought I was guilty, then I wouldn't even have accepted bail. I was raised by very moral parents who said you have to face up and take responsibility for your actions. But I believe I'm innocent… I know I'm innocent."

Metal Hammer: Do you even remember the gig or was it just another show?

Blythe: "It was the first time we'd ever played in Prague so I remember that. I remember I read during the day, and I remember that gig and a lot of people being onstage. Then as soon as I got off stage, my publicist called, and told me Paul Gray [SLIPKNOT] was dead. This was right after we got off stage. All of that makes that show memorable."

Metal Hammer: You weren't aware of anyone getting hurt?

Blythe: "No, there's people that get hurt at every metal show, but it's not like we ran away after the show. We were there until late in the morning, the crew was unloading and I was sitting out in the alleyway calling people because people were blowing up my phone like, 'Is it true that Paul Gray is dead?' I was very sad and I spent a lot of time talking, but the show itself, I just remember a ton of people being onstage who should not have been onstage. We had no knowledge that anyone was hurt. But, like I said about the parents, my feelings about the justice or injustice of this has nothing to do with the reality that they are totally suffering through this. They need some answers and I feel ethically obliged, if I'm called to trial, to at least give my side of the story and explain to the best of my knowledge what happened so they can get some closure. I don't have guilt over this because I am innocent, but it feels awful inside to me, terrible. A fan of the band is dead and his family suffering. It's a very unfortunate situation and one I'd rather not have to deal with, but if you're a good human being, an adult and a responsible, compassionate human being, then you show up and do the right thing, and that's going and giving these people some answers."

Metal Hammer: What does this mean, not just for LAMB OF GOD, but for future metal shows? Clearly there wasn't enough security, but at the same time people do stage dive and it is dangerous.

Blythe: "Yeah, I had 44 stitches right in my head from a BRUTAL TRUTH show. I left the stage at Milwaukee Metalfest and split my skull open and had to go to the hospital. When you crowd surf or go into a moshpit, or somehow make it to the stage, you have to realize you can get hurt. I have the scars and the broken bones to prove it because I've been going to shows since I was a kid. If anything good comes out of this, it would be the need for trained security who are aware of what goes on at a show and the type of energy and dancing, so they're not only there to keep the band safe, but to keep the audience safe. We've seen kids coming over the barrier and we've often yelled at security. I can't put on a good show if I'm worried about my fans getting hurt. There needs to be adequate security because this stuff is dangerous! There's an inherent danger in jumping off a stage and I've done it again and again and again."

Metal Hammer: Does it make you more wary of inviting contact with the audience?

Blythe: "Well, we're at a point where, long before this show, people don't need to be getting on stage, because they run into you and can knock you off or run into the equipment and you can't play. But the whole stagediving thing is a real touchy thing and it's hard to explain to people who aren't in this. Someone will come whipping past me who's made it past security and got onstage, they run and jump, clear the barricade and I'm often like, 'Good job! That was badass!' What am I gonna do, get mad? I did the same when I was a kid! But at the same time, if you're gonna do that, you have to accept the fact that you might break your fucking neck, or someone else's. I've stagedived a lot in our career and I always back way up and make sure people see I'm coming, because I don't want to break someone's neck. This has definitely made me more wary about stagediving myself, not for my security but for everybody's. I skateboard and I've busted myself up. I could have broken my neck or killed myself, and that's a risk I take and I accept that risk because it's something I like to do. If people do this stuff, they need to realize that."

Metal Hammer: Obviously you can't plan too far ahead since you don't know if you'll be facing trial. what's next for you?

Blythe: "I don't know if I'll have to go back or not. I'm assuming I will. I'm assuming it will be in December or January, but we'll tour the States starting in October for a month or so. We have to make some money because the legal bills are exorbitant. We had to borrow that bail money and it's almost half a million dollars. None of us make the kind of money to be able to pay that off no worries. And the way we make money is by playing shows, but we can't play shows if I'm in prison. One tour already got cancelled and we had a meeting today talking about the mechanics of keeping the business running when money is just bleeding out. It's difficult, but it's better than being in prison. And I will go back. I'm a man of my word and I told the judge I would go back. As I've previously expressed, I think it's the ethical thing to do."

Metal Hammer: What's the worst-case scenario?

Blythe: "Ten years with no time off for good behavior. For my particular charge — we're saying manslaughter, but it's assault in the fourth degree with intent, resulting in the death of this young man — the sentence for that is five to 10 years with no time off. So the worst-case scenario is that get out when I'm 51, 52 years old. It's not something I really try to dwell on too much, because it's scary. I don't want to go to prison, I don't want that to happen, but the fact of the matter is it could happen. I will deal with it as it comes, that's all! can do. If you have one foot in the past and one foot in the future, you're pissing on the present. And right now, all! have is the present so I prepare myself the best I can. My band is behind me and my family's behind me and we're gonna do our best to prove my innocence. But worrying about a nebulous uncertain future, or being super-bummed out that l went to prison for 37 days does me no good."

SEVENDUST Announce Release Date For 'Black Out The Son'; Band To Tour With LACUNA COIL!

March 26, 2013 is going to be a very good day for SEVENDUST fans. That day brings the highly anticipated release of the band’s brand NEW album, their ninth studio effort, 'BLACK OUT THE SUN', on their 7Bros. Records label (through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group). The first single, “Decay,” will be released to radio and available for download at online retail outlets January 22, 2013.

Anxious to share the scorching NEW sounds, SEVENDUST will set out on a headlining tour with Lacuna Coil starting February 2, 2013 in Winston-Salem, NC at Ziggy’s. Tickets for the shows listed below will go on-sale Friday, November 30, 2012. Fans should check their local ticket outlets for purchase info. More shows for SEVENDUST are currently in the works and will be announced in the coming months.

In a recent interview with Revolver, guitarist John Connolly described the new music as having “a darker vibe… but there’s still plenty of melody. It fits right in with 'ANIMOSITY', 'ALPHA' and our self-titled album. Lots of heavy stuff and some more mellow moody songs as well.” As guitarist Clint Lowery proclaims in Guitar World, “There’s a dark turn to the whole thing… in a lot of ways, it’s your typical SEVENDUST record.” The magazine goes on to declare that 'BLACK OUT THE SUN' “will eclipse its predecessors with its southern-rock brutality and bursts of industrial and reggae.”

For 'BLACK OUT THE SUN', the band--Lajon Witherspoon (vocals), Morgan Rose (drums/vocals), Clint Lowery (guitar/vocals), Vince Hornsby (bass/vocals) and John Connolly (guitar/vocals)—decided to self-produce and record the NEW album at The Architekt Studios in Butler, NJ with the help of mixer/engineer Mike Ferretti (who also worked with Lowery and Rose on CALL ME NO ONE’s debut album, 'LAST PARADE', which was released June 5 on 7Bros Records).

'BLACK OUT THE SUN' is the follow-up to 'COLD DAY MEMORY', which was released April 20, 2010 and debuted at #12 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, the highest debut of the bands' storied 8 studio album, 15 year career. Along with it being SEVENDUST's highest charting debut ever, the album's first single, "Unraveling,” set a debut milestone as well. It entered the BDS Active Rock radio chart higher than any other SEVENDUST track. It surpassed 2003's "Enemy," which wound up peaking at #6 and is currently their highest charting song to date. At radio, "Unraveling" is the most well received SEVENDUST song ever.

Why On Earth Did NEUROSIS Decide To Get Rid Of Their Awesome On Stage Visuals?

Today, NEUROSIS has made an official band statement regarding their decision to pull the plug on their on stage visuals.

“As of today, after much thought and discussion, visual projections as we have presented them over the last 20 years will no longer be part of Neurosis live shows.

“We are going to begin the process of reinventing our live presentation. This process will begin at zero, allowing the music to speak for itself and lead us where it may. Whatever form or however long this may take is unknown.

“This also signals a parting of the ways with our visual artist of the last twelve years, Josh Graham. Josh’s tireless work and talent came at a time when we really needed it and carried us gracefully into the video age with original content we couldn’t have dreamed of when we were just starting out. Our parting comes from a place of mutual respect, friendship and understanding. We all agree that this is a step Neurosis has to take and are open to working together on specific projects in the future. We wish him success and the best of luck with all of his own musical endeavors and artistic passions.

In the spirit of sound,

-Steve, Dave, Jason, Noah, and Scott”

In conjunction with this release, Josh Graham issued the following statement:

“For us all, time for change has come. The friendships and body of work that have spawned from our time together will live on as we move forward. It has been an honor and a privilege to work with Neurosis over the last 12 years.

“As the crossroads are upon us, and we feel that the pinnacle of our collaborative efforts have been reached; we now look toward our individual futures with support and encouragement. Constant reinvention is at the heart and soul of us all, and we will all continue to persevere.

“Despite the larger picture winding down as we move on in our own directions, we will continue to work together on specific legacy projects including reissues and possibly more if/when the right projects come up. Onward.”

-Josh Graham

The Architect Of The Electric Guitar: Jimi Hendrix Would Have Celebrated His 70th Birthday Today!

Johnny Allen Hendrix, yes that is Jimi Hendrix' real name, was born on in Seattle, Washington on November 27, 1942. Hendrix is widely considered the greatest electric guitarist in the history of music, he single-handily revolutionized the art of amplified guitars and pushed the envelope of music to the threshold. He was musically influenced by American Rock N' Roll and Electric Blues There is no question that Hendrix is one of the most important musicians of the 20th century.

In mid-1959, his father bought him his first electric guitar: a white Supro Ozark. Legend says that there was no amplifiers available. Hendrix, who was left handed, was forced to turn the guitar upside down and restring the guitar so he could play it. Back then guitars were only made for right handed players.

According to Hendrix's Seattle band mates, he learned most of his acrobatic stage moves, including playing with his teeth and behind his back, as well as Chuck Berry's trademark "duck walk", from a fellow young musician, Raleigh "Butch" Snipes.

Law enforcement authorities twice caught Hendrix riding in stolen cars. Given a choice between spending two years in prison or joining the Army, Hendrix chose the latter and enlisted on May 31, 1961. After he had served only one year, Captain Gilbert Batchman granted Private Hendrix an honourable discharge on the basis of unsuitability on June 29, 1962

During his short career of seven years, he made the Jimi Hendrix Experience widely known in Europe. He also achieved fame in the United States after his 1967 performance at the Monterey Pop Festival. Later, he headlined the Woodstock Festival in 1969, and the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970.

Hendrix died from drug-related asphyxia at the age of 27 in London, England.

Today we salute Mr. Jimi Hendrix! And thank him for his contributions to Heavy Music! Check this awesome documentary out:
