Vinnie Paul Reacts To Philip Anselmo's Invitation To End Their Feud In Honor Of Dimebag!

As previously reported, both Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown are ready to patch things up with Vinnie Paul Abbott and perhaps setup a PANTERA reunion with Zakk Wylde on guitar. From what we have been told, it wouldn't be a full fledged reunion for PANTERA but simply a tribute jam to Dimebag Darrell Abbott (Vinnie's brother).

This is what Anselmo told Wikimetal Brazil about patching things up with Vinnie Paul:

"Honestly — and I've spoken with Zakk about it as well — we're very aware of the public perception out there, but honestly, until I speak with Vinnie Paul, which has not yet happened, and it doesn't look like it's going to happen, nothing can happen. Honestly, I tell you, my phone is on the hook, my e-mail is wide open, my door is wide open. I would love to talk with Vince. Honestly, if there were no more bad feelings and we could talk, and we could come to an understanding, I think it would mean not only a lot for me and myself — it would mean the world to me — but it would mean a great deal to the fans out there as well. I think people don't want to see this arguing anymore. It's time for some peace. It's time for some brotherhood. And honestly, we should be setting an example instead of being the opposite. And I'll just say that my door is wide open, and so far, Vinnie's door is closed, and it's a shame."

Recently, Envision Radio Networks' "Hangar 19" chatted with Vinnie Paul Abbott. This is what Vinnie had to say about the possibility of patching things up with Anselmo and a possible PANTERA reunion jam:

"I just don't have any interest in it, man. I'm happy doing what I do, I'm enjoying being in a band where everybody really enjoys being around each other, likes each other. And I just don't have any interest in living in the past, man. I wanna move forward in my life and that's all there is to it."

Here is a recent interview we conducted with Rex Brown, in which he talks about the bands chemistry when things were good and about the legacy of his brother Dimebag!

  1. Good for you Vin! If I was in his situation, I wouldn't do it either. Phil treated the Abbott brothers like shit and now he's acting like he's entitled to $$$ off of a reunion? And he's using the fans now to get to Vin. I wouldn't ever give him that satisfaction of getting rich off of Dime's memory. When Dime wanted to make another album, Phil wouldn't answer his phone. Now his phone is off the hook because he needs $$ to fund Housecore. I would say eff off homey!

I really doubt Phil is in need of any $$

  4. I would do it for one reason. Ive had disagreements with family and friends but in the end when things are patched up we all feel better about it. Phil loved Dimebag and he always will but he never got the chance to patch it up. Vin is a brother in rock and Phil is ready to get past the bullshit. It would be better for everyone and if you dont believe that your not a fan

  5. Too many Pantera experts out there who thinks they know everything about their personal shit. For everyones sake, I hope one day they will patch things up. For now, they are entitled to their own decisions! They aren't old yet. Music heals the soul.. Would love to see & Hear Pantera music live again..

  6. Phil is honestly trying to reconcile. He knows that he behaved poorly and has apologized. There is nothing that can be done to change the past, however he could be given the courtesy of closure. Did he behave like an ass? Yes, he did. But this man has been through alot, be it self imposed or not. I think it's a cheap shot to say that Phil "treated the Abbott brothers like shit when he was heavily on drugs and battling inner demons. Dime was a caring, forgiving person. All of this bickering would sicken him. Vinnie should just suck it up, quit holding a grudge and at least do a tribute show. My God. Don't let Dime's music sit stagnant. Let that shit rip!

  7. Phil has done too much damage to go back. Phil is just trying to kiss ass because he knows he screwed up and wants a piece of the pie. Phil who?... Phil no longer exists... Long live Dimebag!!

  8. Phil knows he screwed up. Now he's trying to kiss ass and try to get in good with the fans again because he's a nobody. Any real Pantera fan won't accept Phil back. Phil who?... Phil no longer exists to me. Love live Dimebag!

  10. BS Homey. I would cover half the earth to see them boys back on stage together. The tour proposed by phil is one of epic proportions that would give us real fans another taste of what great metal used to be. Yeah phil was an ass back then, but it's our duty as loyal fans to stand by and hope for reconciliation.

  11. Good for Vinny. Phil didnt seem to appreciate or acknowledge that the success of Pantera had a whole lot more to do with the talent of the Abbott brothers. Just my opinion but from what Ive always seen at concerts and video footage he seemed like a real dick. I think this is a reunion that never needs to happen for so many reasons, mainly because I dont think for Phil its really about any kind of tribute to Dime but more of a way to cash in on fans that are still mourning the great Dime.

  15. The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones. Whether the fans like it or not these guys were brothers... and as with any family you have someone who makes bad decisions that ultimately affects others more than themselves. Instead of creating media buzz about hidden motives, we the fans should at least encourage the possibility of some healing, even if it means Vinnie clocking Phil upside the head, with no anticipation of 'reunion' or 'projects' Its easy to judge a junkie, when you never truly experienced the tragedy from either side.

  17. Fuck the reunion. Fuck the money. This is about brothers that made music for a very long time and had influence over millions of fans. In Dime's memory this should be settled if nothing more than a handshake occurs. Money is not an issue with Phil (Down) nor with Vinnie (Hellyeah). Get it done fellas, one brother in the ground and a massive feud is one too many heartaches. One of which can be fixed. CFH

  18. given the choice of what he could die for, dimebag would have chosen for his death to bring everyone back together rather than being the thing that destroyed pantera forever. maybe phil was an asshole, but hes been saying the same thing about wanting to reach out to vinny for years. when people you love die it changes your perspective and everyone should be allowed a chance to at least TRY and make it right.being an asshole doesnt kill people. guns dont kill people. total psychopaths kill people. the guy that shot dime was a total psychopath and that's not on Phil. i think vinny should hear the guy out one time, sit in a room with him one time and see what happens. maybe phil is full of shit, i dont know. but vinny would. he knows the guy for decades. but how good would it feel to be back an arena seeing those guys punish like they do. no one out there will ever be what those guys were. not down, definitely not hellyeah. it would be a catharsis everyone inside and outside of that band needs.

  19. Im an Aussie and a Hardcore Pantera Fan when i was growing up and still am. I would love to see Pantera again but unfortunately Phil treated them like shit. Phil needs to be a man and stand up and say sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Regardless of who was right and wrong. If there is a chance for peace then it should be done. No matter what has happened all this Pantera feud that went on just caused the best guitarist to die. So if you all think that it should keep going. Then thats bs. I mean why keep the hatred and animosity going just because of ego, or pride? Really come on we are not kids. You only live once and I think Vinnie should at least make peace with Phil even if its not to do a Pantera reunion. Look at other metal bands that have shown its okay to make peace in the best interest for themselves.(Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer)

    ReplyDelete
  21. I can understand Vince wanting to move on and all, but its a shame he is too swollen with that filthy pride to even respond to Phil reaching out and wanting to let eachother know that there are no hard feelings. He thinks he has a principle to prove or something, bullshit. It doesn't matter how mean they were to eachother, how much shit went down, in the end peace is best and healthy for everyone. The man that denies another's genuine asking for forgiveness is a black hole of a man. AND BEING A FAN, I CAN VOUCH FOR WHAT PHIL SAID ABOUT IT BEING IMPORTANT TO THE FANS TOO. GUESS WHAT VINCE, YOUD BE NO WHERE WITH OUT YOUR FANS, DO IT FOR US. AND DIME.

  22. to the above comment. Do you really think Phil needs the money? He'd probably have more money than any surviving Pantera member. I'm sure Down are doing pretty well for themselves. If he gets asked a question, he's entitled to answer it. If he left it at "no comment" all the blabbermouth posters etc would take it as "Phil hates Vinnie!"

  23. I love Pantera actually my favorite band ever but i must say no matter what happened in the past Vinnie is being a little bitch i mean blaming Phil for dimebags death that's horseshit Phil isn't the asshole who shot him Nathan Gale was. and besides hellyeah sucks even a 1 time reunion would of Pantera minus dimebag of course would be better than everything hellyeah has done. so Vinnie quit being an asshole and let bygones be bygones Phil did not kill dime so don't blame him for it

    ReplyDelete
  24. It doesnt have anything to do with Money. simply put Phil wants to talk to vince and put their shit aside. i understand how vince feels and he has every right. there are 2 sides to every story and we are not talking about dime here. Phil has plenty to fund Housecore. Down and The illegals and Pantera is keeping him straight. let the past be the past. ego and personal shit happen. and it happens in every band. phil dont need a dime from any reunion.he would do it because he loves doing it for us. Us the fans and the kid does the work!!!!

  28. Wow. I honestly feel you took the low road with your comment there buddy. You know what? Fuck the reunion tour! Why can't they at least talk? Vince, I know your pissed from before Dime passed. But dude, Phil came out and said he was a junky. He at least wants to end this endless cup of a feud, that is now one sided. Vince, I am a huge fan, And I've met you a few times and you are a pretty awesome dude, but there has to be an end. I know you're happy with the life you have now, and to end this hate wouldn't ruin that. Just think about it brother! It isn't gonna ruin your day to tell Phil off one on one, or beat his ass, and then just talk.

  31. You're such an asshole. Phil would do it for free. Vinnie "not interested in it" is a way to stay off the subject. It's time to heal, we only live once. Fuck the Jam reunion if it doesn't happen, they should just talk, hang out and have a beer once again at least. It's not always about money. Get over yourself, and stop being an asshole. People who comment spewing all that negative crap is purely ignorance and arrogance.

No one claimed to be a saint, but no one should be picking sides. Vinnie is avoiding Phil, he wasn't asked to "Re-live" the past, he's asked to patch things up, you can never "Re-live" the past if you tried, especially in this situation.
Fuck the internet and the media.

Phil has plenty of money, that's not what it's about. It's about healing and doing the right thing for everyone involved. I've been a part of this close family of friends for 25+ years. Easy to judge from the outside, I suppose...

  33. Its ironic that Vin says he wants to move on and quit living in the past, but by continuing to hold his grudge against Phil he's doing just that- living in that past. I can't imagine the kind of agony he must have went through to have had to lose is brother the way he did(much less right in front of his eyes), but less make one thing clear: Phil wasn't the one who pulled the trigger. It was Nathan Gale. I don't care whether or not the do a reunion tour/show or not I just want to see the band of brothers i loved so much to heal and come back together. I honestly think thats the only thing Phil wants out of this, not money...

  35. Hellyeah fucking sucks. They are a terrible band. Anselmo is too talented to be held back by Pantera.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Its Ironic that Vinnie wouldn't move on from Pantera when Phil was making those albums with down and SJR. Also I'm pretty sure Vinnie has much some dough off his brother's memory as well. Its not about that its about giving what the fans want. When "Piss" was released it went to #1 on ITunes. Its not a great song but the fans were just excited for new material from their favorite band. The majority of fans want this and I think its worth a shot.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Agreed! You do you Vin. There is no going back. There is never going to be another Pantera. I honestly don't think any of the true fans want "almost all" Pantera anyway. Phils way of going about all this was pretty childish...he's trying to manipulate the situation so he will have the best chance to get what he wants. It's always about Phil...Whatev. I think we're all pretty done with that. Vinny you're doing good man. I want to thank you for all the GREAT times you gave me at each and every concert (and there were a lot!). Without Pantera my life would not have been the same.

So... don't go talking shit unless you can back it up. I get so tired of these weak tits that think they can. All it is doing is hurting the fans period!!

  41. The first commenter hit the nail on the head. Phil is just looking for his reparations that are not even due to him. Why should Vinnie be the one to make the phone call/e-mail? Phil, it's a two way street man and yours was always pointing in one direction. YOU MAKE THE CALL TO HIM.

    ReplyDelete
  42. "I think it would mean not only a lot for me and myself"

All I read right there is, ME ME ME ME ME ME ME. It shows how much Anselmo really cares about Dime's memory. I'm with Vinny on this one, Loosing a friend is one thing, but loosing a brother that might as well been joined with you at the hip, is another.

    ReplyDelete
  43. To the guy who commented first, Phil is still actually worth MILLIONS, he doesnt need the money, and his current band DOWN still sells out damn near every show, and sells shitloads of records. There was alot of shit that got fucked up on both ends, yeah Phil didnt communicate well with the Abbotts at the end of Pantera, but Vince and Dime could have handled things better too. The media took advantage of the situation and made things much worse, I think its great that Philip has gotten his life together and has attempted to reach out to Vince. Philip has reconnected with alot of people from the Pantera days including Rita, Dime's old lady. My opinion is that Vince can't deal with what happened and so he doesn't. I can't exactly blame the man, I mean his brother was shot in front of him on stage along with close friends, but at some point he's going to have to deal with that shit.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Vinnie Paul is a fat idiot. Anselmo didn't have anything to do with Diamond Darrell being killed, so fat boy should shut up, get himself a couple of dozen donuts, and then bury the hatchet with Anselmo. Holding a grudge is one thing, but holding a grudge for no goddamned reason is another.

    ReplyDelete
  45. WOW! Rex looks like a crack head, Breaking Bad victim. He has not aged well. It's no wonder Vinnie says no. I had the privilege to go on tour with Pantera and have only nice things to say about Phil and Dime. They treated me with respect and kindness. I am sad that this is what it has come to. Sad, that although Vinnie wants to move on, he will always live in what was, and what could have been. Phil, the same. I feel if they did do a reunion the money would go to a cause that Dime would have found deserved. May you all find peace and love.

    ReplyDelete
  46. To the guy who commented first: Philip is actually still worth millions of dollars, not to mention that he's still in a highly successful band DOWN, who sell out almost every show, he has an upcoming solo album which is one of the most anticipated albums of the year, and I'm sure his upcoming biography will also make him a great deal of money, plus Housecore is doing pretty well, so he's not exactly broke. Now, yes Philip wasnt exactly the easiest guy to get ahold of in the early 00's, but Dime and Vince are also to blame for Pantera's hiatus. There was alot of miscomunication and then the media played both sides off of each other and made things alot worse. Yes Philip said things he shouldnt have, but so did the Abbotts. What it boils down to now is that Vince cant deal with what happened and so he's not dealing with it. Which I cant blame him, he brother was shot and killed in front of him along with other close friends/crew members, but at some point he has to deal with that shit. Philip has done all he can to reach out, and he's made ammends and reconnected with alot of the old crew, hell him and Rita (Dime's old lady) have even made up. Its time to let shit go, nothing is going to change what happened, but I dont think Vince will ever truly have closure in Darrell's death if he doesnt come to terms with the past.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Totally agree with Anonymous. Why doesn't Phil go do another Down record since he was so happy doing that while turning his back on Dime and Vin.

  50. How do you know Phil is doing it for $$$. HAHA. He has plenty. Touring with DOWN makes more money than Vinnie is making. He's just trying to clean the slate. By not dropping the beef Vinnie is the one living in the past.

  51. good for big vin! seems to me that phil needs to move on and let it go..not try to cash in on a former bandmates tragedy. [besides, we remember what was said prior to the event and SHAME ON YOU PHIL!!] if thats not enough.. i am sickened that zakk would be part of this! wow!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I hate to say it, as much as I would love to rock out to those guys again, as much as I.....love is not strong enough, but for lack of better terminology, as much as I love Pantera's music, without Dime it just ain't the same. Hell, I have mad respect for Phil but I would side with Vinnie any day on this. He lost his brother! They reached out to Phil to end this a long time ago. He wasn't worried about the fans then.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yeah, because everything was Phil's fault. Black toothed grins weren't being sucked down by the entire band the whole time. Vinnie's ego couldn't also split atoms. Dude, you're ridiculous. Phil and Dime made Pantera. No one ever gave a crap about Vinnie or Rex. Phil needs the money? Vinnie hasn't done anything fruitful since then either. He owns titty bars. Yay. Talk some truth man. They're both idiots. Most of us just like the front man more. Rex is caught in the middle. As for Zakk, go away dude. Ozzy and Sharon are waiting for you to come play a game of "What the hell did he just say?"

    ReplyDelete
  54. bull to 1st comment nothing has ever said in interviews that make it sound like Phil is out for money, or making Vinny look bad for not wanting to make up. Phil is just saying he is sorry for what ever happen and wants to make amends, like a lot of us grown up people have to do for some thing we have done in the past.

  57. I don't think Phil needs the $$$. I can't say that I would want to see them try to put Pantera back together with another guitarist. I understand What Vinnie means about living in the past but it would be nice to see them on friendly terms again. After reading Rex's book, a lot of what was going on at the time was a little of all their faults and they were just burnt out. Phil can't be blamed for what some twisted fuck did. Blame the doctors and pharmaceutical companies. RIP Dime!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I wouldn't be so quick to praise Vin for this. Rex just released a new tell all book about Pantera and he paints Vin as being the problem. Everyone knows Phil had his own bus to get away and Rex eventually started traveling with Rex. Rex makes the claim that Dime was trying to get his own bus because he couldn't stand being near Vin any more.

  59. It is a hard call. I agree in some points. But put yourself in Vin's shoes. The death of his brother goes far deeper then any of the band mates. It would be cool to see it happen. At the same time Vin has every right for it not to happen.

He has a new band that does pretty darn well, anlong with some of the other bands signed to Housecore. Phil was in a different state of mind back then, not gonna say it was right, but that should be taken into consideration. Vin has the right to not agree to the reunion but maybe atleast making up with Phil would be a good step. For Vin to say i want to move forward and not live in th epast, Isnt that what the grudge and dislike for Phil is about????

  67. If Phil wanted to patch things up with Vin, why not approach Vin right away in person instead of waiting for a phone call from him. There's nothing wrong with saying I'm sorry to someone in their face. That feud has been going on for a long time. They need to settle it.

The way Vin replied to Phil's statement is probably a formal why to say I don't effin care. Phil must've been a real douche back then.

Wish Dime was still alive, I'd figure he'd be the first person wanting to end this feud. He was a good man. But even if they would have a jam together it wouldn't be the same without dime.

I am full of shit who cares how they do it, just do it . That would be the easiest way for everyone to have some closer to the death of in my opinion the best heavy metal guitarist still to this day ...oh yeah all the others are just hard rock guitar players ( jimi ,eddie, etc )

I understand if Vinnie says no until the day he dies, but for the fans I hope the patch it up and do a reunion tour. The fans didn't get a chance to say goodbye, that sux.

  73. To the person who stated that the Abbott brothers made Pantera....Lets get one thing straight. Have you ever heard the earlier stuff BEFORE Phil? It was a train wreck. Dime was the Abbott brother who was talented. Pantera sucked before they brought in PHIL!

From a person who had met Dime and Phil many times, Dime would have ended this feud awhile ago if he was still alive. Dime had a huge heart and loved Phil. They were brothers and brothers fight. Phil was abusing heroin due to massive pain in his back, but yet still got on a stage every night in agonizing pain to give a great show for the fans.

Yes, he was a dick then because he was on drugs. Off the drugs he is one of the nicest people you would ever talk to. Vinnie Paul needs to grow up, he states he doesn't want to live in the past, but yet holding this grudge is living in the past.

And for the people stating Phil is wanting this out of greed? Seriously? He has more money than he probably knows what to do with. He has successful bands and doesn't need more money.

Vinnie was an ass back then and his own brother did not like being around him anymore. Vinnie rode the coat tails of his brother. Hate to say it, but it is true. You people act like Vinnie is the best drummer in the world. *sigh* He was nowhere near the talent as Dime and Phil were.

  74. Well I am a huge Pantera fan, i dont know who is right or wrong, just know that nothing will bring back Dime!!

  75. its not about money for either of them. they both have net worth of around 25-30 million.

  76. If Vinnie doesn't want a reunion, he should at least consider making better music. None of Hellyeah's music lives up to any of the band members full potential....

  78. I just love how people here talk about Phil and Vin as if they know them personally. The fact of the matter is, only those two know what went down and how they truly feel. If forgiveness is in Vin's heart, he will surrender to it eventually. For the time being, it is what it is. I'd love to see a Pantera "reunion" jam myself, but it doesn't look like it's in the cards.

  79. It's funny because you all talk shit about phil but none of you act like you never fucked up before and had to try and fix your mistakes. He was a dick no doubt but atleast he is tryin to fix it, but no one seams to releize the fact that vinnie is a bad ass fucking drummer but he is'nt the only bad ass drummer. I hate to say it you can do a tour without vinnie, but you would never get the same sound without phil.Eveyone also thinks he needs the $$ Down tours all the time and always has something goin on have some knowlege before you open your mouth.

  80. For years I've seen the comments of fans who "assume" they know what's up in this camp. I've personally known all of these guys over the years working in this industry. You couldn't ask for 4 more grounded, music loving, real people. This industry got the best of Phil. Yes, there's bad blood because Phil had an addiction and made poor decisions. At the end of the day, these guys made history and gave us all songs that will always be a part of the best years of some of our lives. They know that. They also know Dime lived for music and if there were a chance to heal old wounds before his passing, he would have to bring that magic back. Period. So, for those of you that say Phil is dead to you, it's about money or whatever, you don't know anything. Phil doesn't need money. He's paid every time you hear Walk at a game or every time a track is played. He's not hurting my friend. This is about transformation and making things right. As for Vinnie, when the time is right, he will forgive. It's just not time. Hell, he lost his best friend and brother and playing these songs are tough to say the least. So, when you talk trash, WALK ON HOME BOY because you were never a real fan.

  81. phil wants to call a truce thats all and to honour dimebags memory whats wrong about that R.I.P DIMEBAG

  82. i think phil anselmo has a one of a kind voice and would recognize it in any band he ever sang in,its true that darrell abott was an amazing guitar player but zack wilde could certainly do an awesome job playing his music,in other words friends and brothers who are gone cannot be replaced but guitar players can be without losing the integrity of the sound of the band,i think phils voice,"is" pantera!look at alice in chains, that band used to kick ass but now they suck without layne"s voice he made the band, pantera would suck without phil.period

  83. Vinnie Paul just doesn't want to go back to being SECOND behind Phil. VP is a fat ass drunken bitch.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Pantera would indeed suck without Phil....thats why Dime and Vinnie were smart enough to end the band. Pantera would also suck without Dime. So why bother. My tribute to Dime is to still jam out to Pantera more than twenty years after I first heard them. I dont need a bullshit reunion with somebody else on guitar.Ive met both Dime and Phil. Dime stood up for me to a security guard, and Phil was a dickhead. Fuck Phil Anselmo. You dont extend your hand to Vinnie and act like there's something wrong when he doesnt accept.... you hope that one day Vinnie will forgive you IF HE EVER DOES. Rex is guilty by association fuck him to. If those two fucks wouldnt have ended Pantera, Dime wouldve been playing in a bigger venue, with better security. That fucking lunatic wouldve never made it into the building, let alone onstage with a gun, and Dime would still be with us. That shit should happen at a Superjoint or a Down show.

  85. YOU WANNA HEAR PANTERA AND DIMEBAGS MUSIC....PLAY THE CD...WOULDNT BE THE SAME WITH ZAKK ANYWAY.....

  86. I don't know too much about the dynamics behind Pantera.

What i do know is that Phil was outta his minds on drugs. There was tons of alcohol being consumed. Not much rational behavior comes from that.

Phil might not be partying as hard and perhaps he's ready to admit his wrongs and bury the hatchet.

If that is what he wants and is being denied that, well that sucks. People grow and learn, maybe Phil has, kids.

  87. Phil had dime murdered...tryin to clear his conscience. R.I.P brother dime and fuck phil.

    ReplyDelete
  88. This is all well and good, but it's all very "un-Pantera". We all sounds like a bunch of chicks. I say, meet up, have a few beers, fight it out in the back yard, squash it, the drink a few more. Then get Zakk, get in the studio, and give the world of music the swift kick in the balls it SORELY needs! As fans, we deserve it!

  89. in 2008, Down opened for Metallica here in Tulsa. Phil kept calling Rex and his self "Music Royalty" and that we should bow down and realize that we were blessed with them coming to play a show for us, which the crowd wasn't buying any of his bullshit. they gave a lousy show and people cheered when they left the stage. if anyone was royalty that came out of Pantera, it was Dimebag.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Pantera was made by all four members, sure Phil was an ass but he had a drug problem and no one is perfect, hell they all drank their asses off and that is a drug problem too. Take away Phil or Rex and you wouldn't have Pantera either.

    ReplyDelete
  91. PHIL DOSNT NEED ANY MONEY IF THIS REUNION HAPPENEND IT WOULD BE JUST FOR THE SAKE OF HAVING FUN PAYING A TRIBUTE TO DIME WHICH ZAKK WYLDE IS PERFECT FOR THE JOB AND DEFINATLEY FOR US FANS WHO WOULD DO ANYTHING TO SEE PANTERA ONE LAST TIME I TRUELY FEEL THAT DIME WOULD BE LIVING THROUGH ZAKK ON THAT STAGE AND IT WOULD BE AN AMAZING HISTORICAL THING SHOULD VINNIE HAVE BEEN MAD AT PHIL ABSOLUTLEY BUT SHOULD PHIL GET BLAME AND GUILT PUT ON HIM FOR DIMES DEATH ABSOLUTLEY NOT PHIL NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT HAVING A PROFOUND HATRED TOWARD TIME NOR DID HE EVER ONCE INCINUATE THAT SOMEONE SHOULD KILL HIM SO I THINK THAT VINNIE DOSNT WANNA DO THE SHOW SIMPLY BECAUSE HE WOULD NOT HAVE DIME ONSTAGE WITH HIM AND IT WOULD BE VERY HARD FOR HIM TO DO BUT I THINK HE SHOULD AT LEAST TALK TO PHIL EVEN IF ITS JUST ONE LAST TIME WETHER PEACE IS MADE OR NOT JUST SO THERE IS AT LEAST CLOSURE ON THE SITUATION BUT I SAY THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

you know i really believe that phil loved dime and had much respect for him as well. the drugs and the booze really messed phil up bad. his new found sobriey opened him up tremendously he cares about his friends family us the fans more than ever. yeah it sucks that things that happened in the past hurt alot of people but you can forgive. were human. so i think a reunion in honor of dime would be awsome it would start the healing. isaac from orange county california

  93. I always dreamed of seeing Pantera, but i know that will never happen. Agreed, Phil had a drug addiction, he did wrong, hopefully he is clean now. Those 4 guys made monumental music, and made such an impact in the music industry. Unless you were in the band, there 24-7, you have no idea what went on. Vinny lost his brother, that hurts! Dime can never be replaced. Maybe one day, hopefully, Vinny can bring himself to speak to Phil. If they can build a relationship, that would be freakin awesome! Everyone heals differently, and they cant be pushed. I just hope at some point Vinny will at least be able to say whats on his mind to Phil, so he doesnt second guess himself when that opportunity is gone. Phil can no longer apologize to Dime, thats a damn shame. RIP Dime

  94. I have to side with Vinnie on this. I think Phil was a hypocrite then, and he is now. If Dime were still alive would he be reaching out to them? I doubt it. He'd still be pouting about how tough it is to be Phil. And yes, Vinnie lost his Best Friend and BROTHER because of some agitating comments made by Phil (Fueled Nathan Gale). You know, despite all the preachy lyrics about friendship loyalty Phil showed none. As I said, he's a hypocrite. Though now his excuse is that he was a junkie? I think a self-centered fame whore is more like it. And I agree on some of the comments above. A true Pantera fan doesn't want to see a 3/4 Pantera show. Led Zepplin isn't getting back together, neither should Pantera. RIP Dime - Rock on Vinnie HELL YEAH!

  95. Definitely dont think its the money guys. Pretty sure Down is pulling in more money than Hell yeah. Hell yeah has been garbage from the start, and as a life time Pantera fan id love to see them jam again. This is all really lame. If Dime was still alive, i think they would be back together by now.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Who is anybody to say what Vinnie should do. If Vinnie isn't interested, he has every right to feel that way. And to all the people writing the "If Dime was still alive..." and "Dimebag would have wanted...", how the fuck do you know? You don't know these guys so give it a fuckin rest. Vinnie doesn't owe anybody jack-fuckin-shit.

    ReplyDelete
  97. The uniqueness of Pantera was Dime on guitar and Phil on vocals... put Zack in and get another drummer...

    ReplyDelete
  98. If someone opened their mouth and the end result was my brother being murdered on stage doin something that he loved I wouldnt piss on em if they were on fire! Blood will always be thicker than water! To all you people who are giving Big Vin soo much shit and judging what he has put out Id love to see you pussy's get up there on stage and do better! I dont think a reunion is the way to go. If you want to pay tribute to Dime get Zakk and Vinnie to jam that shit the fuck out! Pantera is purely The Abbott brothers creation!

    ReplyDelete
  99. yeah dont think phil needs any money,,Down makes enough cash to support a record label and have a massive compound that is his home..so stop hating on Phil,,everybody has issues and no one knows the real truth but him and dime..to be honest im not surprised dimes longtime girlfriend isnt foaming at the mouth over a reunion,,shes seems to the one in need of money

  100. As a Pantera fan since Vulgar Display came out, when we were being overrun with grunge, this is a real tough one. I can see merit on both sides of the argument. Possibly one of the best comments i read though was it was just too soon, they are still too young to do it. When i think about some of the great reunions that have eventually happened, enabling me to see my heroes years after their initial impact. Some in hindsight just seemed so unlikely to happen too. KISS comes to mind (the 96-97 tour) I had pretty much given up hope of that EVER happening, having been only 7 years old when they came to New Zealand in 1980. Black Sabbath for goodness sake! How many years did Toni spend spitting jibes at Ozzy after they parted company. And yet here I am about to see them play together in Melbourne, Australia for the first time since 1974!! I could list more, there are plenty, the point is time does heal all wounds, for most people. I count myself lucky to have seen Pantera in 2001 on their final tour together. It lives forever in my memory as a treasured moment in time, especially now Dimebag is gone. But I still think it could happen one day, it might take another 10 years mind you. KISS and Sabbath both took about 15-20 years to reunite. Its only been 12 since that last tour Pantera did, so I would agree its just a bit soon for them.
