As previously reported, on Thursday, July 19th, IRON MAIDEN performed in Indianapolis at the Klipsch Music Center. While the band was performing their classic song "Wasted Years" and Bruce Dickinson humiliated a fan who was texting during the bands set. Watch footage of this incident HERE!
Here is the defining moment, that helped Dickinson to get on stage in front of thousands of fans per show and have the privilege of calling them "wankers"! This video contains audio of Dickinson's audition in 1981 (the picture is of Bruce Dickinson in 1974).

This passed Thursday, July 19th, IRON MAIDEN performed in Indianapolis at the Klipsch Music Center. While the band was performing their classic song "Wasted Years", Bruce Dickinson spotted a fan texting and he was not feeling it! Was the fan humiliated? He shouldn't be. After all, he can now tell the story of how Bruce Dickinson once called me a “wanker” during the bands concert!
"For fucks sake! Put down the phone! You've been texting for the last three songs, you wancker!"
We personally enjoy the digital era, specially when people capture the essence of a certain moment during a concert. Here is what we are talking about:

Today (June 5, 2012), IRON MAIDEN's legendary drummer Michael Henry "Nicko" McBrain is celebrating his 60th birthday! McBrain was born on June 5, 1952 in London, England. Raise your irons in behalf of "Nicko's" birthday!
Here are some interesting facts about "Nicko":
- At the age of ten, he started to play drums with pots, pans and other kitchen utensils, before, to his parents' dismay, he began drumming on the gas cooker with a pair of knives and chipped off the paintwork. McBrain was 11 years old when his father bought him his first drum kit.
- He soon started playing The Rolling Stones and The Beatles covers with school bands, before he began regularly playing "pubs and weddings" by the age of 14.
- Having played in small pub bands from the age of 14, upon leaving school McBrain paid his bills with session work.
- His nickname "Nicko": his parents nicknamed him "Nicky" after his favorite teddy bear, Nicholas. "Nicky" was his nickname until an intoxicated Billy Day introduced him to Dick Asher, head of CBS Records, as "Neeko", while he was recording with Billy Day at CBS Studios, Whitfield Street.McBrain liked the name, changing it to "Nicko" "so that it sounded more English," and decided to keep it.
- Prior to joining MAIDEN, McBrain was the drummer for French political band TRUST.
- McBrain joined IRON MAIDEN in 1982, as a replacement for drummer Clive Burr. Since then he has recorded 12 studio albums with the legendary Heavy Metal band. As news of Burr's departure had not yet been announced, made his first appearance with Iron Maiden on German TV disguised as Eddie (the bands mascot).
- He debuted as the bands drummer on 'Piece Of Mind' (released in 1983).
- Since he joined MAIDEN, McBrain has formed a close partnership with bassist, Steve Harris, and completed what many critics consider the band's "definitive" lineup! Although the band's lineup altered drastically in the 1990s, McBrain remained in Iron Maiden and, since the return of Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith in 1999, the group has undergone a resurgence in popularity, and are now considered as "bigger than ever".
- Although he writes the drum parts for all the band's songs, McBrain registered his first and only songwriting credit for "New Frontier," from 2003's "Dance Of Death", which expresses his opposition to human cloning, arising from his religious beliefs.
Don't forget that this summer, "Nicko" and the rest of IRON MAIDEN will be touring North America With Alice Cooper!

In case you didn't know this, IRON MAIDEN's Bruce Dickinson (vocals) is a commercial airline pilot and established aviation entrepreneur. Actually, Dickinson pilots "Ed Force One" (MAIDEN's Boeing 757) all around the world!
Recently, Dickinson announced that he has set up Cardiff Aviation Limited to provide specialist aviation technical support services, including training, as well as heavy aircraft maintenance for various jet aircraft types, both narrow and wide body, up to Boeing 757 size. Dickinson and his company are leasing the hangar from the Welsh government. Cardiff Aviation will maintain airliners and other large aircraft for major and independent airlines. It will also have facilities to complete the full range of ancillary aircraft maintenance and training activities and has the expertise and approvals to certify aircraft from many jurisdictions, including the USA
Footage of IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson giving a short video tour of Cardiff Aviation and its 132,000 square feet of hangar and office space at St Athan, Vale of Glamorgan in Wales, United Kingdom can be seen below.
Commented Dickinson: "We've had fantastic support from the Welsh government — we've been impressed by how pro-active they've been; they've really wanted to make this happen, and we've experienced a level of enthusiasm and drive that has been a delight to behold.
"We're coming into this enterprise with the knowledge that we'll also be bringing business to South Wales — a cautious projection is that we'd expect to create up to a thousand jobs within 18 months based on the level of interest and commitment from aircraft manufacturers and operators. South Wales has long had an association with the aircraft industry and I am delighted that I am able to play a small part in the continuation of that tradition.
"We expect to announce the names of our first clients in May, and we're also currently dealing with expressions of interest from several more major and independent airlines.
"We'll be based in civil aviation buildings, and we're excited to be part of the Welsh Government's Aerospace Enterprise Zone proposals. As an established base, it obviously has all the facilities necessary for the enterprise, including a runway 6,000 feet in length with a Cat 1 DME ILS, meaning it can cope with practically any size of commercial aircraft, including wide-bodied airliners.
"But the added value we can bring to the package is that while the team is expert in the provision of technical services, we also have expertise in aircraft sourcing and leasing, another key aspect to the deployment of a total aviation services package, hopefully including the development of new airline services for South Wales — Cardiff Airport has tremendous potential to challenge the successful English regional airports."
This summer, Bruce Dickinson will be piloting "Ed Force One" as IRON MAIDEN will be touring North America With Alice Cooper!

Iron Maiden is constantly looking for innovative ways of offering their fans unforgettable experiences. Late last year, it was announced that front-man Bruce Dickinson would be giving the Maiden fans first call on the opportunity of experiencing the skills and thrills of flying first-hand by joining him for a training session in a state of the art Boeing 737 flight simulator based at London's Heathrow Airport!
A few members of the Iron Maiden Fan Club already got first first dibs on this unique opportunity, at the time when 'Bruce Air Flight 666' was announced Bruce commented, "I never dreamed I would end up flying an airliner. I ended up flying IRON MAIDEN around on tour in a little eight-seat, pressurized, twin-engine plane. Basically we were flying round all the world's major airports, flew across the Atlantic and back, which was quite an adventure. At the end I thought I really want to fly something bigger, but I can't afford it — I can't buy my own 707. If I'm going to do that I have to get a job."

Iron Maiden is constantly looking for innovative ways of offering their fans unforgettable experiences, not only through their music and concerts, but also by putting together cool events for them to become part of the Maiden experience! Last week, it was announced that front-man Bruce Dickinson will be giving the Maiden fans first call on the opportunity of experiencing the skills and thrills of flying first-hand by joining him for a training session in a state of the art Boeing 737 flight simulator based at London's Heathrow Airport!
The members of the Iron Maiden Fan Club will get first first dibs to this unique opportunity, Bruce commented, "I can't wait to sit in the simulator with fans and share the buzz of what it is really like to fly a modern passenger jet such as Flight 666 and all the challenges that entails." "Aviation's been kicking around my family for as long as I can remember; my uncle was in the RAF. But I always thought I was too stupid. I was useless at maths and majored in history at university, so I thought history majors don't become pilots, let alone rock stars. And then our drummer learned to fly so I said if a drummer can learn to fly then anyone can."
He added, "I never dreamed I would end up flying an airliner.
Today, it was announced that Iron Maiden has will be taking over the whole of Hopton Holiday Park near Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, U.K. for three full nights in October of 2012. Commented the organizers: "We plan to cram, the long weekend full of Maiden madness including guest speakers, themed events and tournaments. There will be quizzes to test your Maiden knowledge and if you fancy being Bruce Dickinson for a while, then you can show off your vocal talent in a karaoke competition. If you need to find that elusive piece of Maiden memorabilia, then you might just find it amongst the trading tables that we will set up. There are TV screens throughout the park that will be playing all of your favorite Maiden DVDs and videos.
"We've already booked the bands that will rock your weekend! We've got two fantastic Maiden tribute bands — HI-ON MAIDEN and MAIDEN SCOTLAND. There's POCKET GODZILLAS with their own brand of pumped-up power Punk pop and the brilliant Rock covers band THE FALLEN to fill the weekend with all the kind of music you love.
"Although none of the members of Iron Maiden will be attending we can promise you an absolutely fantastic weekend to remember and Eddie will be on hand to keep an eye on you so beware!"
Bruce Dickinson has been at the realms of the legendary Heavy Metal band Iron Maiden since 1981, year in which he replaced Paul Di'Anno as the singer of the band. Apart from being the front-man of one of the biggest Heavy Metal bands in history, Dickinson is also an airline pilot, a fencer, a broadcaster, an author, a screenwriter, an actor and a marketing director. To say that Dickinson wears many hats is an understatement, which is why every upcoming artist should take this words of advice very seriously.
"Never take 'no' for an answer and never believe it's impossible. Okay realistically not everyone will make it, but the most important thing is not to compromise your integrity. Have a great time, do what you do with real passion not just for the passion of the cheque book."
We couldn't agree more with the wise words of Bruce Dickinson! Play music from the heart, and never surrender your integrity. Practice, practice, practice... And for the love of god, GET ON THE ROAD! Also, don't over-saturate yourselves by playing too many local shows in a short period of time. And remember that you don't need to wait to enter the studio for writing new music, your fans want to hear something fresh as often as possible. However, don't compromise the quality. Finally, pay your dues before you demand anything and support your fellow artists. You are all in the same page!
In other Iron Maiden news, the band has just released their new pictorial book entitled "On Board Flight 666" (published by Orion Books).
