Sweden's Heavy Metal Architect Anders Björler Talks About The Future Of AT THE GATES!
As previously reported, THE HAUNTED's guitarist Patrik Jensen announced that guitarist Anders Björler and drummer Per Møller Jensen have quit the band (Full statements HERE!). Vocalist Peter Dolving had announced his departure from the band earlier this year (Read Dolving's stament HERE).
Following his departure from THE HAUNTED (Full statements HERE!), guitarist Anders Björler announced that he is working on his first solo album. "This is NOT a 'Metal' project", said Björler. "Those of you who are familiar with my soundtrack/movie stuff for THE HAUNTED and AT THE GATES documentaries will know somewhat to expect. It's inspired by Italian film music from the '60 and '70s, post Rock, ambient, progressive, jazz, and Swedish folk music."
AT THE GATES the NEW KISS when it comes to "farewell" tours.
Anders: "I think we learned from that mistake. We won't say goodbye again — ever. The main goal here is playing in territories we haven't played; it's that simple. We did South America in the summer and [now we're doing] Australia. Yeah, we'll do some exceptions, like the Barge To Hell boat. That's just vacation, basically — playing on a boat. Otherwise, we'll do, maybe, a couple of festivals each summer. Maybe three."
A NEW AT THE GATES album.
Anders: "For me, personally, no. I've never had those plans. I guess some of the other guys [in the band] want to, but certainly not me. Because I think too much time has passed. It was, maybe, 16 years ago, or 17, since we released 'Slaughter Of The Soul', and too much time has passed. I'm not at the place that I was back then, and it's not gonna sound like a continuation of 'Slaughter Of The Soul', and that's basically what I don't wanna do."

Game Over For THE HAUNTED? Two More Band Members Quit The Band!
The demise of Sweden's THE HAUNTED seems inevitable. Earlier this year, vocalist Peter Dolving quit the band due mayor personal issues with the Björler brothers (read his statement HERE). Now, guitarist Patrik Jensen of has released the following statement regarding the departure of two more band members:
"It's with deep regret we have to inform you of another two departures from THE HAUNTED; guitarist Anders Björler and drummer Per Møller Jensen. No animosity whatsoever caused these events, nor are there any other feelings than that they will both be dearly missed. We wish them all the best in whatever, and wherever, their future endeavors will take them
"For all you who have any knowledge about the band, and know how to count, you will realize that there are only two band members left; Jonas [Björler, bass] and myself . We are still committed to the THE HAUNTED. However, in the light of these recent events, we honestly don't know what will happen. We hope for your appreciation of our current situation, and for your patience."
Commented Anders: "I feel that I have come to the end of the line regarding THE HAUNTED. This is not a sudden or hasty decision. I have been contemplating it for the last couple of years.
"Peter's [Dolving, vocals] departure earlier this year made me more certain than ever that I had reached my personal goal with THE HAUNTED, and that the time was right to call it quits.
"I have enjoyed every bit of the ride.
"It's been an overwhelming journey.
"I would like to thank the other band members especially, our crew through the years, and our fans worldwide for the experience and opportunity. Thank you so much! The memories will be with me forever.
"I will, of course, continue writing music, but where that leads me? Simply too early to say."
Per Møller Jensen released a statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET earlier today announcing his departure from THE HAUNTED. He explained, "This decision has been underway for a long time and cannot be attributed to Dolving's departure earlier this year."

Tomas Lindberg Talks About The Possibility Of AT THE GATES Returning In Full Force!
Recently, legendary AT THE GATES vocalist Tomas Lindberg was grilled via an intense Q&A during an interview on Australia's Kill Your Stereo. Here are a few excerpts of the interview.
Kill Your Stereo:
Do you have an opinion why Sweden has been so good for Metal bands?
Tomas:
I guess the scene always evolves around a few different personalities or bands. If there's a driving force, people get inspired by it and that's it really. There doesn't actually have to be any special qualities to the country, but, I mean, we're a pretty close-functioning country. Maybe we're a bit spoiled with the welfare system here, so we don't really have to worry about much. In our spare time we can actually play music.
Kill Your Stereo:
I know it's a question you've been asked to death and you're probably sick of answering, but I know you said you AT THE GATES are not going to write another record together, but you might be open to writing together under a different name. Is that something you've given much thought to lately?
Tomas:
Well, basically, I've learned never to say never. We said we'd never do any more shows whatsoever and now we're doing shows [again]. 2008 was the last tour we were going to do and now we are doing more [shows]. I learned not to say never you know.
Kill Your Stereo:
Have you noticed much difference between the shows now and the past couple of years as opposed to back when you were a permanent band over a decade ago?
Tomas:
Of course. For us especially, as I said, the reception was overwhelming. We didn't have a clue that it [reunion shows] was going to be that big. It's what I would say, for us, it was pretty frustrating back in the day. We were playing really small shows and we were working really hard. And nowadays people actually come out to see us [laughs] and they know the songs. It's very good. And, I think it's probably easier in that way to be a young band today as there is a supportive crowd not matter what style of music you play. Of course, there's more bands to compete with if you want to have a career out of it, but if you just want to go round making music, it's a lot easier doing it now, I think.

Online Petition To Get AT THE GATES To Headline The 2013 Summer Slaughter Tour!
At the Gates is an extreme Metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden, and a major progenitor of the Gothenburg Death-Metal sound. Their early albums lean towards a Death Metal sound, but later albums (especially Slaughter of the Soul) sound more like melodic Death Metal.
Initially active from 1990 to 1996, the band reformed in 2007 for a reunion tour before breaking up once again in 2008. In December 2010, they reunited again, but have no plans to tour extensively or record new material.
