"The Late Night TV Page" has reported that legendary guitarist SLASH will appear on the October 4 episode of Conan O'Brien's nighttime talk show on TBS, "Conan". Check your local listings for details.
In case you missed this: SLASH's second solo album "Apocalyptic Love" was released this passed May and was recently certified gold in Australia by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) for sales in excess of 35,000 copies.
SLASH recently revealed that he and singer Myles Kennedy have already begun working on music for the guitarist's next album, to be recorded sometime next year.
"We are working on material, gathering ideas for another [record] at this point," Slash told Rapid City Journal. "We are sort of like in those early stages where I'm just recording different guitar ideas and I turn Myles on to it. He's thinking about his stuff and what he's going to do with it and so on."
Earlier this year we chatted with SLASH about his NEW musical projects:
Last weekend, Heavy Music royalty from bands like IRON MAIDEN, SLIPKNOT, WHITESNAKE, CHICKENFOOT, THE CULT, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, DEEP PURPLE, JUDAS PRIEST, SLAYER and BLACK SABBATH took part in Marshall's 50th-anniversary event at Wembley Arena in London, England. The luminaries celebrated the life and work of revolutionary amp pioneer Jim Marshall with an unparalleled display of Rock virtuosity. Videos and more HERE!
In commemoration of this special moment in Marshall's history, Rock Science — the Rock game of the century — will release a limited edition of their wildly popular board game commemorating the 50th anniversary of Marshall Amplification.
"For a guitar aficionado this is a dream come true. 50 years of rock guitar history in one game," says Rock Science creative director Jorge Bravo.
Containing 1,600 trivia questions celebrating five centuries of loud Rock N' Roll and the iconic artists who play it, the Rock Science Marshall Game is a unique collaborative effort.
Rock Science is a board game for 2-6 players. The goal is to be the first to finish one lap around the board through the use of Rock knowledge, clever betting and a bit of luck. Players answer questions about anecdotes, myths, rockers, albums, songs and sex, amps and Rock N' Roll. You can also be asked to hum the riffs of well-known Rock songs.
- All questions have three levels of difficulty: Poser, Fan and Scientist. Poser questions are easier so anyone can join the game!
- All players are always involved since they bet on each other's Rock knowledge.
- With intuitive rules and fast gameplay it's quick (60 minutes) and easy to learn
About Rock Science: Rock Science delivers games to a dedicated target group — rockers. The board game is the first product in the Rock Science family and is today sold in various language versions in the USA, the U.K., Germany, and Scandinavia. Nuday AB, the company behind Rock Science, was founded in 2010 by rocker Jorge Bravo and gamer Sven Folkesson, with headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden.

Oh yeahhhh! "The Late Night TV Page" has reported that legendary New York City based band KISS will appear on CBS's "Late Show With David Letterman" on October 10th. Check your local listings for details.
KISS's NEW album 'Monster' (set to be released in October through Universal Music Enterprises) is a "12-track, straight-ahead rock 'n' roll album". 'Monster' features collaborations among all four members — including co-founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons and longtime members guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer — in an album that shows the band at the top of its game. And that's saying something, considering their illustrious, 40-plus year history — 28 U.S. gold albums, the most gold records for any American Rock band, 40 million sales in the U.S., and a total exceeding 100 million worldwide.
'Monster' track listing (iTunes version):
01. Hell Or Hallelujah
02. Wall Of Sound
03. Freak
04. Back To The Stone Age
05. Shout Mercy
06. Long Way Down
07. Eat Your Heart Out
08. The Devil Is Me
09. Outta This World
10. All For The Love Of Rock & Roll
11. Take Me Down Below
12. Last Chance
13. Right Here Right Now
Here is the NEW single from Heavy Music legends KISS is part of the band's 20th studio album entitled 'Monster'. Entitled "Hell Or Hallelujah", guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley calls the track, "a battle cry that encapsulates the entire record... one way or another, we're going to do it our way".
'Monster' is the group's first studio album since the band's 2009 smash success, 'Sonic Boom', and was also produced by Paul Stanley with Greg Collins at Conway Studios in Hollywood, California, and The Nook in Studio City, California.
In other KISS news, according to Gene Simmons, the 35th anniversary edition ‘Destroyer’ reissue will be released very soon. He says that it will be “coming out shortly, this summer.”
36 years after the release of ‘Destroyer,’ it’s easy to understand why Simmons considers the album “a very pivotal record for us.” It marked an important point in “Kisstory,” with the band learning a new process of making music. Producer Bob Ezrin wanted to take the band back to their roots and have them really focus on the formatics of being a band, telling them “we’re going to learn how to tune our guitars and talk about song structure.”
As Simmons told Ultimate Classic Rock, it was a different path than the one they had taken on their first three studio albums. “When we first started out, you know, we basically dove into the deep end of the pool and [said] ‘let’s see if we can swim?’ And then once you stay in the water long enough, you want to start to get some style and do the breaststroke and the backstroke and all of that stuff, because you become a better swimmer. It’s not just enough to not sink. So the sink or swim thing became ‘hey, let’s be really good swimmers.’”

As previously reported, after completing his epic quadrology last year with the simultaneous release of 'Ghost' and 'Deconstruction', renowned multi-instrumentalist and producer Devin Townsend is ready to start the next chapter in the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT's career with their NEW effort, 'Epicloud'. Released on September 18th in North America and September 24th in Europe, 'Epicloud' boasts 13 light-hearted, hook laden tracks featuring once again, guest vocal appearances by Anneke van Giersbergen. It's Epic and it's loud, it's 'Epicloud'.
In celebration of his latest sonic potpourri, DTP just wrapped up an extensive North American tour with KATATONIA, PARADISE LOST and STOLEN BABIES. Prior to his stellar performance at New York City's Irving Plaza, Horns Up Rocks' own Zulie Alvarez sat down with Devin Townsend to discuss his latest album 'Epicloud', as well as his many musical projects. During the chat, Townsend revealed to us that he is once again collaborating with guitar god Steve Vai. He also discusses being a parent and how is not pushing music too hard on his kid. This is an interview that you can't miss, so check it out right now!
The great folks over at Sabian Cymbals recently interviewed legendary RUSH drummer Neil Peart about his obsessions: drumming is one, obviously, but he's also deeply involved in writing and what he calls "adventure travel," going to non-touristy places. (Several other musicians share this interest, including Henry Rollins and David Lee Roth).
In the following clip, Peart discusses each of his books, and talks about his motorcycle in detail, too.
UK based modern thrash heroes SYLOSIS will tour the United States with LAMB OF GOD, on their first tour since Randy Blythe’s release from Czech prison, this October - December. Joining them are Swedish titans IN FLAMES, deathcore pioneers HATEBREED OR HELLYEAH.
Commented SYLOSIS in an official statement:
"We're extremely honored to be heading out with LAMB OF GOD this Fall on their North American tour. The package is huge with IN FLAMES, HATEBREED and HELLYEAH so to be opening up the show each night is going to be awesome. This is only our 2nd tour in America and we sincerely couldn't ask for better. This will also be the first tour in support of our coming album Monolith so we're looking forward to playing new tracks on this mammoth tour!"
"Little known secret; METALLICA's '...And Justice For All' and DEATH's 'Symbolic' record had a baby. It was tossed into a junkyard and forgotten about. It ate Metal and drank gasoline until it broke free and began to kill. SYLOSIS defines modern Speed Metal. " – Chris Adler (LAMB OF GOD)
'Monolith' was recorded with Romesh Dodangoda in Wales at Monnow Valley Studio and mastered by Jens Bogren (SOILWORK, AMON AMARTH, BLOODBATH) at Fascination Street Studios. The artwork was created this time around by Dan Goldsworthy (ACCEPT, HELL).
'Monolith' will be unleashed on October 5th (Europe) and October 9th via Nuclear Blast Records.
Part 1 of their in-studio documentary chronicling the making of 'Monolith' can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/9AoY0esZBhw.
'Monolith' Track List:
1. Out From Below 2. Fear The World 3. What Dwells Within 4. Behind The Sun 5. The River 6. Monolith 7. Paradox 8. A Dying Vine 9. All Is Not Well 10. Born Anew 11. Enshrined
Guitarist/vocalist Josh Middleton previously commented about the album: "Monolith is the best representation of us as a band in terms of our diverse influences, and stylistically it's what we've always been aiming for. A mixture of thrash, big doomy riffs and dark atmospherics and ambience.”
“The idea for the concept was very loosely inspired by the Greek tale of Orpheus and Eurydice,” continued Middleton. “It's quite far-fetched but it's about this guy who loses his wife and tries to bring her back from underworld. This giant monolith starts to grow out of her tomb. The most prevalent theme beneath it all is sort of accepting that you might not be as nice a person as you once thought. It sounds really cheesy but everyone has a darker side to their personality in terms of being selfish, manipulative or dishonest.”
On Friday, July 6, the CBGB Fest show that took place at New York
City's Webster Hall was cancelled after two current members of the CRO
MAGS were allegedly stabbed by Harley Flanagan (the founding member of the CRO
MAGS). The incident occurred right after VISION OF DISORDER's set!
As
seen on the NY Post: Around 8:15 PM, while the CRO MAGS were getting
ready to take the stage, Harley Flanagan, 42, made his way into the
venue’s VIP section toward the bands dressing room, sending nearly 30
guests on the balcony into a frenzy, law enforcement sources and
witnesses said.
This morning at 100 Centre Street in New York City, Flanagan, accused of having attacked former band members walked away with an adjournment. There will be no further action on the matter, until December 5, 2012.
As Flanagan stated, "They should be embarrassed that they jumped me and I am going to court for putting them in the hospital."

They say that only the good die young; this is definitely the case when it comes to Cliff Burton, who died in September 27, 1986, on a fatal bus crash in Sweden while Metallica was on tour in support of their classic record "Master Of Puppets".
When it comes to bass players that have created a new style of playing that has influenced millions of bass players in the past, the present, and the future. Metallica's Cliff Burton is the guy to point the finger at when it comes to bass playing in Heavy Music. His unique style and precision have been instrumental in the evolution of Heavy Music.
Here are some facts about the great Cliff Burton:
- Cliff was born on February 10, 1962 in Alameda County, California.
- His musical career began at a young age when his father introduced him to classical music.
- The first instrument that Cliff learned was the piano. After many years of playing the piano, Cliff discovered Rock and eventually Heavy Metal.
- When he was only 13 years old his brother died in a tragic accident, this inspired Cliff to start playing the bass guitar. His parents quoted him saying: "I'm going to be the best bassist for my brother."
- In order to make his brother proud, Cliff would practice up to 6 hours a day, which didn't stop after he joined Metallica. Many say that Cliff's style was fundamental in the rise of Metallica to Heavy Metal stardom, here are some facts about Cliff Burton:
- Classical music and Jazz were instrumental in the development of Cliff as a musician, other influences of Cliff were Southern Rock, Country Music and Blues.
- The artists that influenced Cliff as a bass player were: Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath/Heaven and Hell, Blue Öyster Cult, Misfits, John Deacon of Queen, Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy, and Geddy Lee of Rush.
- This is Cliff's discography, as you will see he was part of the best Metallica albums ever, which are also some of the best Heavy Metal records of all time:
Studio albums:
* Kill 'Em All (1983)
* Ride the Lightning (1984)
* Master of Puppets (1986)
Demos:
* No Life 'Til Leather (1982) (credited but does not play)
* Megaforce (1983)
* Ride the Lightning (1983)
* Master of Puppets (1985)
Wherever Cliff is today, we are sure he is jamming and keeping the spirit of Heavy Music alive.

Have you been wondering why the multifaceted musician Trent Reznor has been up to? After en extended absence from the music world, has broken his silence. Here is what Reznor posted on his Facebook page:
"Sorry for the radio silence lately... I've been busy! There's a number of things to be revealed over the coming months. Some you may expect, others you may not. Patience, my friends.
"Today's news is about my band How To Destroy Angels. I'm happy to announce we've formally partnered with Columbia Records for our next series of releases. The first of these will be available in November and it's called An Omen EP. As you may have guessed, it's an EP. It contains six songs, some of which are from our full-length LP which is coming early next year. We are making some videos, we are going to be performing live, and that's all the details I have for now on those matters.
"Regarding our decision to sign with Columbia, we've really spent a long time thinking about things and it makes sense for a lot of reasons, including a chance to work with our old friend Mark Williams. There's a much more granular and rambling answer I could give (and likely will in an interview someplace) but it really comes down to us experimenting and trying new things to see what best serves our needs. Complete independent releasing has its great points but also comes with shortcomings.
"We are all very excited about you checking out the new stuff. Wish I could tell you more, but you know how this works... it would take all the fun out of it!"
Be afraid. Be very afraid. And excited. But moreso afraid. For the first time in history and owing to huge demand (AKA a few family members and some guy called Ceril on Twitter), the Metal Hammer Podcast is going to be filmed in front of a live studio audience at the Leicester Square Theatre in London, on Friday November 23 from at 9 PM.
Merl, Hill and Amit will all be there live and in the flesh, chatting through some of this year’s biggest Metal news stories, picking needless arguments and pitching questions from those in attendance.
These wallies are going to be on a stage in Leciester Square. Think about that.
“It’s going to be massive. Fucking massive,” said Merl in a statement. “I agree, fucking massive,” added Hill. “I also agree that ‘fucking massive’ is how I would describe what this is going to be,” mooted Amit.
Expect music chat, Axl Rose-bashing, Iron Maiden-loving, News Up Your Ass-ing, High Fiving, Reviews, reviews, reviews… reviewing, utter stupidity and maybe, just maybe, some very special guests. Trust, this is going to be massive.
Tickets are a measly £6, so get booking below to grab your chance to become a part of Podcast history. Be excited. NOW.

The visually stunning four-minute clip was directed by Wes Richardson and builds upon the story laid out in 'The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues' (2011 EP) and the forthcoming, 12-track concept album 'The Parallax II: Future Sequence'. "Quote from Tommy explaining how the video ties into the overarching story of The Parallax," explains singer/songwriter Tommy Rogers. "Words words words."
Between The Buried And Me have released a series of behind-the-scenes clips documenting the recording sessions for The Parallax II which are viewable on the band's YouTube page at www.youtube.com/btbamofficial.
