Former Pantera and current Down vocalist Phil Anselmo ripped the NFL, Roger Goodell, Peter King Sports Illustrated for their handling of bountygate and punishing his beloved New Orleans Saints with unsubstantiated evidence. Listen to what Anselmo had to say on the video below.
As previously reported, NOLA's supergroup DOWN is scheduled to release four EP's dubbed as 'Down IV' throughout the next four years. During a recent interview the bands riff meister Kirk Windstein announced that the first EP, which contains six songs, should be out this summer! This is what Anselmo had to say about this:
"That's the idea right now, but I think that after you work on a body of music, you need to reload, you need to refresh, you need to clear your head. Get that, digest it, get it out of your system, and then decide what direction you're going to go. It's a good idea and I think we should see it through. But there's no way we can rush it. Because I think if it is a series of four, each one should be unique, and that… We've shown flexibility — we have songs like 'Bury Me In Smoke' and then we have songs like 'Stone The Crow'… acoustic pieces and what-not… We have all that. So we've touched on many, I guess, dynamics, so… I would expect each EP to have its own life."
Down's NEW EP will feature the following songs in no particular order:
Recently, Artisan News conducted an interview with DOWN's Philip Anselmo (vocals) and Patrick Bruders (bassist) at this year's Rock On The Range festival, which took place on the weekend of May 18-20 at the Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

In a recent interview with Artisan News, Motörhead's frontman Lemmy Kilmister responded with anger when asked about the loss of his 'Ace Of Spades' jacket. “They lost my ‘Ace of Spades’ tour jacket. They had this Heavy Metal presentation thing and they said could they borrow a pair of boots and a bass and my ‘Ace Of Spades’ tour jacket, so I lent it to them, and they said they lost it. A likely story. Look me in the eye and tell me again. One of their girlfriends is wearing it, no doubt.”
Lemmy is still fuming over the loss. When asked if he would feel better about things if he was inducted into the Hall, he said, “What honor? They owe me a jacket before I’ll even speak to them.”
As previously reported, Motörhead will be appearing at these years ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL!

As we all know, Machine Head's Phil Demmel is not only one of the most talented shredders in Heavy Music today, but he is also one of the nicest guys in the music business. Recently, Artisan News caught up with Demmel at the Dimebash event at the Key Club in Hollywood, California. During the interview, Demmel spoke about the production of the band's long-awaited DVD featuring footage from the extensive tour in support of 2007's critically acclaimed album "The Blackening".
"We toured on 'The Blackening' for three years, [played] almost four hundred shows, [and] we have footage from everything," commented Demmel. "So much happened on that tour — our drummer's mom died, my dad died… So much happened to us. We almost broke up, we went to therapy… All this different shit happened. So we're trying to put all of this together. It's just too much [to include in a single DVD package]. So we wanna whittle it down and create a cool story."
In other news, Phil Demmel recently announced that he is engaged to Bleeding Through's keyboardist Marta Peterson. Demmel and Peterson started dating when their bands toured together in Australia and Japan in early 2010. Peterson was twice named "Hottest Chick" in Metal by Revolver magazine.
"I met the girl of my dreams in Australia the last time we were down there. One of the greatest things that has ever happened to me was on that run. I have very special memories of Australia and knowing that I was in love for the first time when I was in Brisbane." - Phil Demmel
Phil has a five-year-old son, Jadon Philip Demmel, with "rock model" Jamie Jagger.
So far Machine Head has exceeded all expectations and have definitely proven their elite status amongst today’s massive array of Heavy Metal artists. Actually, "Unto The Locust" doubled on the #54 Billboard Top 200 debut chart position of the band’s 2007 Grammy-nominated release, "The Blackening", Machine Head have topped themselves again with a remarkable #22 Billboard Top 200 chart debut for their new album, "Unto The Locust", with over 17,000 albums scanned. The band is currently gearing up for their North American tour.
