AC/DC: Brian Johnson Celebrates His 65th Birthday!
Today, AC/DC's Brian Johnson is celebrating his 65th birthday! Johnson was born in Dunston, Gateshead, England, on October 5, 1947. But don't call him old, as we all know Johnson is still one of the most ENERGETIC and badass singers in all of Heavy Music! Johnson has been the main singer and lyricist for Rock N' Roll legends AC/DC since 1980, following the untimely death of Bon Scott. While this was no easy task, Johnson has proven time and time again that he was the perfect choice for AC/DC. Johnson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, along with the other members of the band.
AC/DC lead guitarist and co-founder Angus Young later recalled, "I remember Bon playing me Little Richard, and then telling me the story of when he saw Brian singing." He says about that night, "There's this guy up there screaming at the top of his lungs and then the next thing you know he hits the deck. He's on the floor, rolling around and screaming. I thought it was great, and then to top it off—you couldn't get a better encore—they came in and wheeled the guy off!'" Johnson was diagnosed with appendicitis later that night, which was the cause of his writhing around on stage. The band agreed immediately that Johnson's performing style fit AC/DC's music. Johnson's first album with AC/DC, 'Back in Black', became the second best-selling album of ALL time (the album has sold over 50,000,000 copies).
So raise your glass (or fist) in the air, crank your volume and lets salute Mr. Brian Johnson on his birthday! \m/

"Bon Scott - The Legend Of AC/DC" Docu-drama Announced - Details Available!
U.S. based production company High Voltage Productions are currently in the pre-production stages of a docu-drama entitled "Bon Scott - The Legend Of AC/DC". The film's screenplay is being written by American singer/writer Rob Liotti who has portrayed Bon Scott for a number of years in his tribute band TNT and has wowed thousands of AC/DC fans. This is why Liotti will be starring portraying the late Aussie frontman. One could equate his performance in similarity to what tribute singer Tim "Ripper" Owens did for JUDAS PRIEST.
The plot:
The docu-drama is said to examine an integral time period within AC/DC's history as Bon Scott helped to catapult AC/DC to international stardom, but never really got to enjoy the fruits of his labor — even sometimes dealing with bouts of extreme loneliness and isolationism — and ultimately culminating in his untimely death by misadventure in 1980.
What Rob Liotti had to say about being part of the project:
"There are a lot of challenges with a project of this type. One of the biggest challenges is authenticity. This is an American production of an ostensibly Australian-based story. Therefore, dialect is highly important, as well as capturing the true dynamic of the band and its members. Moreover, the Australians claim 'ownership' of the band and Bon Scott, so there are high expectations to be met from the outset. But it is a story that is viable and deserves to be told."
With AC/DC's 40th anniversary coming up and now annual events paying homage to the late Scott, millions of AC/DC fans worldwide are seething for a film of this type so that they might personally explore what has made AC/DC one of the most successful rock bands in history and their late singer an Australian icon. Stay tuned for more details!
As previously reported, AC/DC's guitarist Malcolm Young has an update about what is to be the bands NEW studio album! In an interview with Classic Rock magazine, Young had the following to say regarding AC/DC's follow-up to 2008's 'Black Ice'.
"You know what Brian's like. He just says things and then walks away," Malcolm said. "It'll be a little while — a year or two anyway." He added, "I've been doing some jamming on some song ideas but I do that all the time, as do the rest of the band. We are still working. But we had a long rest between 'Stiff Upper Lip' and 'Black Ice', so I think we need a couple of years to recuperate and work on it a bit more."

Recently, Christian leaders bashed Johnson after he said that religion is "a waste of time. I don't believe in religion, let's put it that way. I believe all religions are bad. I think they're a waste of time. Jesus was a clever man. He wasn't the son of God. We all know that he was a very clever, wonderful man and he said, 'Church is in here, meaning you are your own church.'"
In other news, AC/DC will most likely hit the road in 2013 to celebrate their 40th anniversary! According to Johnson, the band is meeting soon to discuss an anniversary tour and album. Be excited!
