SEPULTURA Return To The Primitive, Find Out Who Is Producing Their NEW Album!
It has been confirmed that SEPULTURA have hired Ross Robinson to produce their 13th studio album, the follow up to 2011's 'Kairos'. This will be the first time the band works with Robinson since 1996, which is when the bands legendary album 'Roots' was produced by Robinson.
This reunion was suggested by Monte Conner (the guy who signed SEPULTURA), who used to be the Roadrunner Records A&R chief and is now the head of Nuclear Blast Entertainment, a U.S. partnership with Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger.
"Monte was the guy who signed SEPULTURA to Roadrunner in 1988," SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser told Diario de Pernambuco. "It's been a nice experience working with him again. He always brought a good energy to the band. It will be very good to record in a studio that Ross and Steve know so well," Andreas said. This will mark the first time that the band records an album outside Brazil since 'Against'.
SEPULTURA currently has 13 NEW songs in various stages of completion.
"We are in the process of writing and we have already stared working on some of the lyrics. I am also working on guitar solos and other ideas," Andreas explained.
Asked what fans can fans expect from the upcoming SEPULTURA album, Andreas said: "I don't know; it's hard to say. This is the first time writing with [latest SEPULTURA addition] Eloy Casagrande on drums and everything sounds fresh. You'll just have to wait to hear it. It's very difficult to describe what we're doing, but I can say that will be one of the strongest SEPULTURA albums to date. It will be definitely one of the best albums in the history of SEPULTURA."
Stay tuned for more SEPULTURA news!

The End Of Roadrunner Records? Label President For 12 Years Steps Down - Open Letter Available!
This just in, Jonas Nachsin, president of Roadrunner Records for over 10 years has stepped down from this job title. Nachsin announced that he is leaving the label after working there for over 20 years. There is no word yet as far as who will replace him, but according to Billboard.biz the new leadership should be announced withing days.
Here is Nachsin's exit letter to his staff, courtesy of Billboard:
"I am so proud of what we have accomplished to showcase Roadrunner as not only a 'record company' but as a lifestyle and cultural beacon for fans around the globe," Nachsin wrote. "The chemistry of groundbreaking artists worked by a world-class group of truly committed employees has made Roadrunner a name with no equal over the years. That will continue." He closed by thanking "the great team here much success as they move forward into a new chapter for Roadrunner."
His memo was followed by one from Atlantic co-chairmen Craig Kallman and Julie Greenwald, thanking him for his substantial contributions and years of dedication.
"For two decades, Jonas has been a passionate champion of Roadrunner's incredible roster of artists and helped forge the unique identity of one of the world's great labels," the memo reads in part. "Everyone who has worked with Jonas -- including artists, managers, the Roadrunner team and the wider Warner Music family -- have all been touched by his commitment and leadership. He has been instrumental in the careers of so many extraordinary artists, from superstars including Nickelback and Slipknot to breaking talents Young the Giant and Stone Sour. We will all miss Jonas and wish him the best in his next endeavor."
Roadrunner is expected to continue as a Hard Rock brand, but now the question is who will have the stewardship of the label. Read more HERE!
As previously reported, ROADRUNNER RECORDS has closed their UK and Canadian offices. Apparently, their German office will face the same destiny. Regarding their U.S. team, some of their top staff members have been dismissed but the U.S. office will remain open. SUICIDE SILENCE's Mitchell Adam Lucker Dead At 28; FrankenSandy Demolishes The East Coast!
This was definitely one of the toughest weeks in Horns Up Rocks history. Not only were we forced to work from "Everyday Gourmet Deli" in New York City from Tuesday morning until today (Friday) since we lost electricity and water thanks to "FrankenSandy", which slightly delayed our entire work flow, but we closed this trying week with the very sad news that Heavy Music icon Mitchell Adam Lucker has passed away at the young age of 28 (More information HERE). Here is a video we shot in the dark (with a camera light) that features our founder Jo Schüftan sharing his story about the hugest hurricane in the last 100 years (image gallery HERE) and discussing the impact that Mitch's death had within the entire music world.
We would like to offer our condolences to Mitch's family, friends, band members, fans worldwide, and everyone at Nuclear Blast Records and Century Media Records who are affected by this loss.

SUICIDE SILENCE Become The First Band To Ink Deal With Monte Conner's NUCLEAR BLAST ENTERTAINMENT - Statement Available!
One of the hardest working bands in Heavy Music, SUICIDE SILENCE, have inked a deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment, the NEW division of Nuclear Blast formed by Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger and former Roadrunner A&R chief Monte Conner. Here is what the bands guitarist Mark Heylmum had to say about this historic moment:
"I and all of SUICIDE SILENCE are proud to announce that we have signed a worldwide deal with the one and only Nuclear Blast. It wasn't a tough decision; Nuclear Blast has been a huge part of Heavy Metal for decades and we couldn't be happier. This is a NEW beginning for us and we're ready as all hell! Let Chapter 2 begin now!"
"I am beyond stoked to be signing to the sickest of all Heavy Metal record labels," added SUICIDE SILENCE bassist Dan Kenny. "It has been a dream of mine since I was a youngster with Nuclear Blast posters on my bedroom wall."
"I've been following SUICIDE SILENCE since their debut album and immediately grew to love their music," commented Staiger. "I knew we had to work with this amazing band and today is the day to finally welcome one of the most brutal bands on Earth to the Nuclear Blast family. The next SUICIDE SILENCE album will no doubt push boundaries once again."
"I am thrilled to have such an innovative and unique band like SUICIDE SILENCE as the first signing to Nuclear Blast Entertainment," added Conner. "Even though I was totally blown away by their last album, 'The Black Crown', I am certain the band's best music is still ahead of them."
Nuclear Blast North American label manager Gerardo Martinez concluded: "It's pretty amazing when you hear SUICIDE SILENCE talk about the Nuclear Blast bands they love. It puts all of us on the same level — we are all music fans here. Super stoked to be a part of history with this Californian bunch!"
SUICIDE SILENCE's Nuclear Blast Entertainment debut is tentatively scheduled for a summer 2013 release.
We recently chatted with SUICIDE SILENCE's vocalist Mitch Lucker about the bands NEW music. Here is what went down.

One of the RR workers who we was let go was Monte Conner, the companies Senior Vice President of A&R. A man who single handily shaped the sound of 90's Heavy Music.
During the recent Metal Hammer "Golden Gods Awards", the label was presented with an award in recognition of their tremendous work within our music. Here is video footage of the moment in which Monte Conner accepted the award in behalf of the ROADRUNNER RECORDS family and gave his farewell speech. This is truly inspiring!

SEPULTURA Single-handily Changed Heavy Music With 'Arise' & Are Still A Force To Be Reckoned With! Images From The "Kairos Tour" Available!
When SEPULTURA released their groundbreaking record 'Arise' on March 20, 1991, the face of Heavy Music was changed forever! "When this album was released it became the biggest seller in Roadrunner history and firmly established both the band and Roadrunner Records", commented Monte Conner (Senior Vice President of A&R for Roadrunner Records). " It is still hands down a Speed/Thrash Metal record but you can hear the beginnings of the modern Sepultura sound that would fully bloom on 'Chaos A.D.' in Max’s more enunciated vocal delivery and his NEW less-is-more lyrical approach (due undoubtedly to his improvements in speaking English). Here, Max is really starting to shine as a powerful Metal singer and band leader. I still think the lobster claws on the cover are cheesy but the fans love that art and it has become an iconic piece. This was the first time that Max worked with Andy Wallace and it was a collaboration that would continue through Soulfly’s 'Primitive' in 1998."
Today, SEPULTURA is still going strong! After various lineup changes, more specifically the departure of brothers and co-founders Max and Iggor Cavalera, the band is still making music and touring the entire planet. Recently, SEPULTURA wrapped up the "North American Kairos Tour" at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City. Joining the Kings of Tribal Metal were fellow Brazilian Metallers KRISIUN, as well as the legendary Thrash Metal band DEATH ANGEL. Opening every night of the "Kairos Tour" were new comers HAVOK.
Prior to the show we had the chance to chat with SEPULTURA's legendary guitarist Andreas Kisser. During part one of the conversation, which came to a halt when RAMMSTEIN was suddenly cranked all over the venue, we had the chance to talk to Andreas about the "North American Kairos Tour" and how he and Paolo Jr. have managed to keep the bands legacy intact! Part two is coming soon, so stay tuned!
Here are some KILLER images we captured during the bands terrifying set:
