Members Of The Westboro Baptist Church Threaten To Picket Jeff Hanneman's Funeral!


As we all know by now, on Thursday, May 2, Slayer guitarist and founding member Jeff Hanneman passed away of liver failure at the age of 49. Details HERE!
 
As usual, the Westboro Baptist Chutch have announced plans to picket a funeral of a Heavy Music musician. This time around they are facing the fans of the mighty SLAYER, so this is their warning!

Prior to the event we took over the Black Carpet and chatted with Corey Taylor (#8) from the iconic multi-platinum selling bands SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR! Corey was also the recipient of the "Best Vocalist" award. Check it out and lose your mind!

SLAYER: Jeff Hanneman's Last Concert Ever!

As we all know by now, on Thursday, May 2, Slayer guitarist and founding member Jeff Hanneman passed away of liver failure at the age of 49.

The band's longtime publicist issued the following statement:

"Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. He was 49. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed."

Here is fan filmed footage of Hanneman's last concert ever with SLAYER! This took place at the Big Four in Indio, California on April 23, 2011. This is when Hanneman performed the encore with the rest of the band!





Our condolences go out to Jeff's family, friends and the Slayer camp! Rock in Peace, Jeff!

Sebastian Bach Intimidated By SLIPKNOT At The Revolver Golden Gods Awards V!

Two Halves Of PANTERA Perform With ANTHRAX At The Revolver Golden Gods Awards!

 
Heavy Music history was written yesterday (May 2) night at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, CA. Not only did the Revolver Golden Gods Awards welcome the elite of the music we all love, but the energy inside the sold out venue was incomparable. Here is a scoop of who won what, and who performed with whom.


Opening the show was ANTHRAX. Who definitely kicked the only Heavy Music awards show in all of the Americas, right into gear! Joining them for a very special mini PANTERA jam, were Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown who performed "This Love" with the rest of ANTHRAX (who were joined by Jon Donais from SHADOWS FALL on lead guitars). It was the first time that Phil and Rex jammed to some PANTERA music since the bands untimely demise in 2001. Here is footage of this historic moment:

Heavy Music history was written yesterday (May 2) night at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, CA. Not only did the Revolver Golden Gods Awards welcome the elite of the music we all love, but the energy inside the sold out venue was incomparable.

The damper of the event was definitely the passing of SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman, who passed away yesterday (April 2) from liver failure.

The End Of A Legacy: Monte Conner Says Good Riddance To Roadrunner Records In A Very KING DIAMOND Way!

As previously reported, ROADRUNNER RECORDS has closed the majority of their European offices. Regarding their U.S. team, some of their top staff members have been dismissed but the U.S. office will remain open. One of the RR workers who we was let go was Monte Conner, the companies Senior Vice President of A&R. A man who single handily shaped the sound of 90's Heavy Music. ROADRUNNER RECORDS' Monte Conner Accepts "Golden God Award" & Gives Farewell Speech - Video Available!

As previously reported, ROADRUNNER RECORDS has closed their UK and Canadian offices. Apparently, their German office will face the same destiny. Regarding their U.S. team, some of their top staff members have been dismissed but the U.S. office will remain open. One of the RR workers who we was let go was Monte Conner, the companies Senior Vice President of A&R. A man who single handily shaped the sound of 90's Heavy Music.

During the recent Metal Hammer "Golden Gods Awards", the label was presented with an award in recognition of their tremendous work within our music. Here is video footage of the moment in which Monte Conner accepted the award in behalf of the ROADRUNNER RECORDS family and gave his farewell speech. This is truly inspiring!
