Joey Jordison Talks About His NEW Project With Members Of NINE INCH NAILS, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD & DARKEST HOUR!
As previously reported, the multi-talented Joey Jordison from SLIPKNOT/MURDERDOLLS (ex-Rob Zombie) has made it very clear that he is not willing to wait around until Corey Taylor is ready to work on the NEW SLIPKNOT album. He has actually been real busy working on his as of yet untitled NEW musical project.
Jordison recently chatted with Metal Hammer about his project with Jed Simon (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, TENET, ZIMMER'S HOLE) and Kris Norris (DARKEST HOUR) on guitar. Here is what he had to say about his next musical venture:
“I’d been working on new Slipknot material since the end of the 'All Hope Is Gone' tour cycle but I ended up with so much stuff I had to take a step back and stop working on it,” he explains. “The time wasn’t right. But I came up with a bunch of material that was really killer and heavy and started taking some of it in a different direction. I started focusing on a lot of the post-Punk and industrial stuff that I’ve always loved and started putting super heavy and brutal guitars over the top of it. That’s how it started. It’s taken me a couple of years to get to this point, but I can honestly say this is the most satisfied I’ve ever been in the studio. I can’t wait for everyone to hear this shit.
“I’ve done the bulk of the work in the studio but now I’ve got Jed [Simon, Strapping Young Lad] and Kris [Norris, Darkest Hour] to play lead guitar on everything,” he adds. “Chris [Vrenna, Nine Inch Nails] is doing the keyboards and synths and all that stuff and I have an unknown guy on vocals. His name’s Henry and he’s super talented and a great vocalist. I didn’t want someone from a known band singing in this band, because then it just becomes some supergroup thing and that’s not what this is.”
Don't forget that SLIPKNOT will be headlining the Download Festival on Friday 14 June 2013, marking the band’s second headline appearance following an explosive set in 2009. They join fellow headliners Iron Maiden on Saturday 15 June and Rammstein on Sunday 16 June.

Joey Jordison is not holding his breath for a NEW SLIPKNOT album & starts NEW project
The multi-talented Joey Jordison from SLIPKNOT/MURDERDOLLS (ex-Rob Zombie) has made it very clear that he is not willing to wait around until Corey Taylor is ready to work on the NEW SLIPKNOT album. Jordison has posted several photos from the studio where he is currently working on a "new project."
More details about the band, which apparently features Jed Simon (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, TENET, ZIMMER'S HOLE) and Kris Norris (DARKEST HOUR) on guitar, will be made available "soon," according to Jordison.
While we totally understand that it is not easy for SLIPKNOT to move on after losing their bassist Paul Gray in 2010, Taylor seems to have plenty of time to write music and to tour with STONE SOUR. So lets hope that Taylor commits to SLIPKNOT after STONE SOUR completes their current album cycle in 2015.
Here is Taylor's latest update:
"We're doing five shows this year, all overseas. But it's still not time yet. There's a lot of people in the band getting healthy and trying to stay healthy and I think by getting together and doing this handful of shows, that will encourage them, and that's important.Don't forget that SLIPKNOT will be headlining the Download Festival on Friday 14 June 2013, marking the band’s second headline appearance following an explosive set in 2009. They join fellow headliners Iron Maiden on Saturday 15 June and Rammstein on Sunday 16 June.
"It takes a long time to pull yourself out of where we were. We were all in really bad shape and really dark places and right now we just kind of realized, we don't want to be there anymore. You can visit it. You can tap into it. But you don't want to exist in it. That's not life. That's just sustaining pain. For me, I let that go a long time ago and now the rest of the guys in the band are seeing that as well.
"So, we're all just trying to be there for each other and I think we'll start working on new music by probably next year… just kind of throwing demos together, maybe start working on a new album at the end of next year or maybe 2015."

FEAR FACTORY Records NEW Album Without A Drummer? Is Gene Hoglan Still In The Band?
The mystery behind whither or not drumming legend Gene Hoglan is still part of FEAR FACTORY, and whither he recorded drums on the bands NEW album 'The Industrialist' has come to an end. Recently, a reliable source close to the FEAR FACTORY camp told us that Hoglan is no longer part of FEAR FACTORY and that he did NOT record any drums for 'The Industrialist'. He also informed us that the drums on the NEW FEAR FACTORY were all programmed.
Last month, we asked Hoglan if he recorded drums on the NEW Fear Factory album 'The Industrialist' (slated to be released in late April via Candlelight Records). We also asked him if he plans on joining legendary Thrash Metallers TESTAMENT full time, whom with he recorded their upcoming album entitled 'The Dark Roots Of Earth' (set to be released in late April/early May via Nuclear Blast Records) and played drums on most of their recent series of tours with ANTHRAX and DEATH ANGEL. Here is what he had to say at the time.
"Right now I am taking things day by day. Sometimes you really have to be careful with what you wish for."
When we recently spoke with TESTAMENT's frontman Chuck Billy, we asked him what the bands drummer situation is. Here is what he had to say about this:
"We'd like him (Gene Hoglan) to be, but I think right now we're just taking it tour by tour. We don't know yet. We just kind of unexpectedly had to do this tour before the record came out, so we haven't really thought about it yet."

GENE HOGLAN Confirms That He Won't Be Touring With FEAR FACTORY!
As previously reported, Heavy Metal drumming machine Gene Hoglan is uncertain of whither he will become a permanent drummer of TESTAMENT. Well, it seems like Hoglan is ready to join the band full time! Today, he announced that he will not be touring with FEAR FACTORY on their upcoming tour with SHADOWS FALL. And as far as we know, he did not record drums on the bands upcoming album entitled 'The Industrialist' (set to be released on June 5, 2012 via Candlelight Records). Here is what he had to say about this:
"I'm sure whomever they get on drums is gonna kick some ass, absolutely! I'd like to wish them the best on the tour, and I'm sure everyone's gonna make out just fine."
While Hoglan is still listed as the drummer for FEAR FACTORY, last month we asked him if he plans on joining legendary Thrash Metallers TESTAMENT full time, whom with he recorded their upcoming album entitled 'The Dark Roots Of Earth' (set to be released in late April/early May via Nuclear Blast Records) and played drums on most of their recent series of tours with ANTHRAX and DEATH ANGEL. In our opinion it would make sense for him to join TESTAMENT as a full time member since he recorded their NEW album 'The Dark Roots Of Earth'. Stay tuned for more information!

Gene Hoglan Split Between FEAR FACTORY & TESTAMENT; What Does His Future Hold?
Today, Gene Hoglan is one of the most wanted drummers in Heavy Metal! In recent years, he has been busy at work with Industrial Metallers FEAR FACTORY. When guitarist Dino Cazares rejoined the band that he founded in 1982, Hoglan was called in to replace drummer Raymond Herrera. Together with Burton C. Bell (vocalist), Dino Cazares and Byron Stroud (bassist), who Hoglan's bandmate in Strapping Young Lad, they created 'Mechanized' (one of the best albums of 2010).
While Hoglan is still listed as the drummer for FEAR FACTORY, yesterday we asked him if he recorded drums on the NEW Fear Factory album 'The Industrialist' (slated to be released in late April via Candlelight Records). Whither Gene Hoglan stays with FEAR FACTORY or rejoins TESTAMENT remains to be seen. In our opinion it would make sense for him to rejoin TESTAMENT since he recorded their NEW album 'The Dark Roots Of Earth', but we all know that any drummer would love to play with FEAR FACTORY. Needless to say, this will be a hard decision for Hoglan to make. Stay tuned for more information!
