Joey Jordison Talks About His NEW Project With Members Of NINE INCH NAILS, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD & DARKEST HOUR!

As previously reported, the multi-talented Joey Jordison from SLIPKNOT/MURDERDOLLS (ex-Rob Zombie) has made it very clear that he is not willing to wait around until Corey Taylor is ready to work on the NEW SLIPKNOT album. He has actually been real busy working on his as of yet untitled NEW musical project.

Jordison recently chatted with Metal Hammer about his project with
Jed Simon (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, TENET, ZIMMER'S HOLE) and Kris Norris (DARKEST HOUR) on guitar. Here is what he had to say about his next musical venture:

“I’d been working on new Slipknot material since the end of the 'All Hope Is Gone' tour cycle but I ended up with so much stuff I had to take a step back and stop working on it,” he explains. “The time wasn’t right. But I came up with a bunch of material that was really killer and heavy and started taking some of it in a different direction. I started focusing on a lot of the post-Punk and industrial stuff that I’ve always loved and started putting super heavy and brutal guitars over the top of it. That’s how it started. It’s taken me a couple of years to get to this point, but I can honestly say this is the most satisfied I’ve ever been in the studio. I can’t wait for everyone to hear this shit.

“I’ve done the bulk of the work in the studio but now I’ve got Jed [Simon, Strapping Young Lad] and Kris [Norris, Darkest Hour] to play lead guitar on everything,” he adds. “Chris [Vrenna, Nine Inch Nails] is doing the keyboards and synths and all that stuff and I have an unknown guy on vocals. His name’s Henry and he’s super talented and a great vocalist. I didn’t want someone from a known band singing in this band, because then it just becomes some supergroup thing and that’s not what this is.”

Don't forget that SLIPKNOT will be headlining the Download Festival on Friday 14 June 2013, marking the band’s second headline appearance following an explosive set in 2009. They join fellow headliners Iron Maiden on Saturday 15 June and Rammstein on Sunday 16 June.

Ask Corey Taylor Anything Right Now!

Joey Jordison is not holding his breath for a NEW SLIPKNOT album & starts NEW project

The multi-talented Joey Jordison from SLIPKNOT/MURDERDOLLS (ex-Rob Zombie) has made it very clear that he is not willing to wait around until Corey Taylor is ready to work on the NEW SLIPKNOT album. Jordison has posted several photos from the studio where he is currently working on a "new project."

More details about the band, which apparently features Jed Simon (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, TENET, ZIMMER'S HOLE) and Kris Norris (DARKEST HOUR) on guitar, will be made available "soon," according to Jordison.

While we totally understand that it is not easy for SLIPKNOT to move on after losing their bassist Paul Gray in 2010, Taylor seems to have plenty of time to write music and to tour with STONE SOUR. So lets hope that Taylor commits to SLIPKNOT after STONE SOUR completes their current album cycle in 2015.
Here is Taylor's latest update:
"We're doing five shows this year, all overseas. But it's still not time yet. There's a lot of people in the band getting healthy and trying to stay healthy and I think by getting together and doing this handful of shows, that will encourage them, and that's important.

"It takes a long time to pull yourself out of where we were. We were all in really bad shape and really dark places and right now we just kind of realized, we don't want to be there anymore. You can visit it. You can tap into it. But you don't want to exist in it. That's not life. That's just sustaining pain. For me, I let that go a long time ago and now the rest of the guys in the band are seeing that as well.

"So, we're all just trying to be there for each other and I think we'll start working on new music by probably next year… just kind of throwing demos together, maybe start working on a new album at the end of next year or maybe 2015."

Corey Taylor Talks About Seeing SLIPKNOT Perform As A Fan, Before He Joined The Band

Corey Taylor is not the original vocalist of SLIPKNOT, his original band is actually STONE SOUR. Speaking of STONE SOUR, the second part of
'House Of Gold & Bones' will be released this coming Tuesday, April 9 via Roadrunner Records.

Corey was recently interviewed by Noisecreep about STONE SOUR's NEW record, and of course SLIPKNOT came up during the interview. Here is what he had to say about his first time seeing SLIPKNOT perform as a fan:

"I went to see a Slipknot show in Iowa. This was two years before I joined the band. Stone Sour was playing the next night and so we went to see Slipknot and I never really had that kind of feeling before; of seeing a band with that kind of energy. They just marched up through the crowd and then I said to myself, that's the band that I want to sing in. So think about it. How many people get to go see a band that's like their favorite band in the world, and then soon after that they find themselves being the lead singer? It's the fucking coolest thing in the world and I'm glad you asked about that because it's good for me to remember what it was like back in the day when I first saw Slipknot. I mean it's weird, I'm still a fan of the band from when I saw them back then, and just look at what happened."

SLIPKNOT's Corey Taylor Updates Fans On The Bands Next Record!

For their millions of fans around the world, Slipknot are as much a culture and a way of life as they are a band. Needless to say, the "maggots" are impatiently waiting for a NEW SLIPKNOT album. And while most of the band is ready to get some songs recorded and released. The bands vocalist Corey Taylor is not ready yet. Here is Taylor's latest update:

COREY TAYLOR Thinks That "Technology Is So Badly Ruining Music"

The wait it over! STONE SOUR's NEW album entitled 'House Of Gold & Bones - Part 1' is available now via Roadrunner Records. Right now, you can feed your ears some NEW music from the band that Corey Taylor and Jim Root created before joining SLIPKNOT, thanks to AOL Music. Click HERE to listen to the NEW Stone Sour album!

In celebration of the release of STONE SOUR's latest batch of music, Jonathan Barkan of Bloody Disgusting recently conducted an interview with vocalist Corey Taylor. Here are a few parts of the interview:

Bloody Disgusting: What's your take on the musical styles of today versus the styles 5 years ago, 10 years ago, maybe even further than that?

Corey: It's kind of depressing, man. [laughs] It really is. There's so much that's just glossed over these days. It's almost like this weird cross between the '60s and the '80s. It's like singles were very big in the '60s. And then all the really weird, crappy, forced-upon pop music of the '80s. So now you've got people who don't really have the skills, because technology hides it, going out and putting these crappy singles out, and because that's all there really is, people basically eat it like hamburgers. It's become very, very commercialized. Which wouldn't bother me as much if people actually had talent. When I listen to something and the first thing I notice is that it's been turned into crap, I shut it off and throw it out the window of my car. Like it's the most offensive thing to me. I was just having this conversation last night because the Grammys were on, and I would say 3 out of 4 people nominated were all Auto-Tune artists. At that point, you shouldn't be allowed to be nominated in anything that has a vocal category. You should be nominated in an instrumental category because the computer did all the work for you. If you sound more like a keyboard than a human being, you shouldn't be allowed to walk away with one of those trophies. Of course I'm in the minority when it comes to that, which pisses me off even further.

Bloody Disgusting: So, do you feel that today's teenage generation is lazy or easily persuaded and how to do you think that bodes for the future of the industry and the future of music itself?

Corey: I think you're always gonna have half the generation that's lazy. But I think it makes the other half work that much harder. I think this generation that's growing up really enjoying this pop music is gonna be the same as the people who grew up really liking Rick Astley. It's passing fancy, as far as music goes. But I think because technology is so badly ruining music, it just breeds a generation that's going to be completely 180 [degrees] from that. I think the hungrier generation is just going to completely destroy any thought of trying that. I think we're gonna have a lot more home grown rock 'n' roll coming out soon. I'm hoping. Between the Auto-Tune pop and all these fucking hipster indie bands who are on every commercial, it's kind of depressing in music right now. But, I think it's kind of like me. When I was growing up in the '80s, a lot of that pop shit was just like, "What is this?" And then I found my music in the thrash scene, in the hardcore punk scene, so I had that background and that made me want to make the sort of music I make today. So I think that half of the generation is going to come to the surface in the next five years.

Bloody Disgusting: So how has the work that you've done with SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR reflected what music means to you?

Corey: I guess it's reflected in the fact that I can still do it. If I hit a flat note, you're gonna hear it. I'm really proud of the fact that anywhere, at any time, I can make music. A lot of people can't do that. I just did a tour where it was basically just me and a guitar, and if I fucked up, I totally knew. And I let the audience know. I think the human side is reflected in the music I make, both with SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR. You have to have that. For all the machines out there, you have to have a soul. You have to have some place to come back. And I know there's a lot of metal bands that use technology to hide shit because 9 times out of 10 you can't tell one band from another because of how it's mixed, because of how the drums are being portrayed, because of how stock the guitars sound. So I know it's a problem that really infects every facet of the industry. But for every 9 of those bands, there's a band like SLIPKNOT or STONE SOUR that really tries to stand apart. If it works, it works, if it doesn't, it doesn't. So, for me, the way I make music is just a reflection of how I think music should be made. Where you sit in a studio, and you make music, and you use technology to your advantage, not to hide all the glaring mistakes.

Corey Taylor Talks About Jim Root: "When he got back home, he had a 102° temperature, went to the clinic and found out his appendix burst two and a half weeks ago."

Recently, Corey Taylor was interviewed by the Canadian website Jam! Some of the subjects covered during the interview had to do with Slipknot's current participation at the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, and the brand NEW compilation 'Antennas to Hell' (available now). We also had some words of praise for guitarist Jim Root, who was recently treated for a burst appendix that forced him to miss the first few dates of the Mayhem Fest.

"Dude, he’s out of his mind. We were actually finishing the guitars on the NEW Stone Sour album when it happened. He was complaining about a pain in his side. When he got back home, he had a 102° temperature, went to the clinic and found out his appendix burst two and a half weeks ago. The fact that he was still walking and talking is crazy."

About 'Antennas to Hell': "Honestly, in a weird way, it’s very gratifying. You can tell where we came from, and where we got to with 'All Hope is Gone'. But the beautiful thing is that the essence is still there. We never forgot why we loved making music. We never forgot that frenetic energy that we invariably put into everything we do, and that sense of urgency that never left us. I truly hope it never does."

Clown of SLIPKNOT notes:  "Welcome to what we are. Welcome to what you are, and what we together have always been. Slipknot is not a band. We are a culture and you are our blood. We play for blood.
