CHTHONIC to release album # 7; NEW song available now!

Taiwanese Metal exhibitionists, CHTHONIC, are pleased to unveil their seventh studio offering. Entitled 'Bú-Tik', the ten track opus was recorded at Sweden’s Sweetspot Studio by producer Rickard Bengtson, who also worked on 2011’s critically-lauded 'Takasago Army' full-length and finds the band sharpening their signature brand of self-dubbed symphonic “orient Metal.”

With 'Bú-Tik', CHTHONIC continue their mission to build awareness of the myths of Taiwan and the tragic events in their country's history. Based around the story of the 228 Massacre, the Bú-Tik Palace and the Mirror Of Retribution, 'Bú-Tik' highlights what bassist Doris Yeh describes as “righteous violence, justifiable defense, and the armed spirits!”

“We are very proud to present 'Bú-Tik' to the world,” she continues. “With this album, we have pushed ourselves to achieve new heights — heights we've never imagined before! We are leading metal fans to the next episode of CHTHONIC!”

'Bú-Tik' will be released in North American on June 18 via Spinefarm Records US. In the meantime, check out the epic enormity of “Next Republic”:

CHTHONIC Reveal Cover Artwork Details For Album # 7!

As the new album from Taiwanese extreme metal band, Chthonic, undergoes mixing at Sweet Spot studio in Sweden, the work on the album's cover has also begun in Taiwan. After nearly 100 hopeful candidates replied to a casting call, which called for girls who were "at least 160cm tall, skinny, with light skin, and are ok with full-body painting," Chthonic bassist Doris Yeh and the art design team decided on Bu to represent the album's cover girl.

"It's certainly not an easy job for ancient Chinese emperors to choose their wives," said Yeh jokingly after several sleepless nights of deliberation. "I was even looking through the pictures in my dreams!"

With a concept in mind to have an elder, a girl and a child as the cover picture, and visualize the idea of armed body and mind through special makeup and computer graphics, the search began for candidates to represent the theme. Embodiments for the roles of the elder and the child were quickly decided. Hsu Ching-fu, a clergyman from the Gikong Presbyterian Church, and A-Chi, son of a well-known tattooist Ah-J, were picked to represent these figures.

The shooting of the album cover photo was completed late last month. The new album, the band's seventh overall, is slotted to be released in Europe, North America, and Asia in June on Spinefarm/Universal Music.

In the meantime, the band has been hard at work promoting its new mobile app game, the first of its kind to use exclusively heavy metal music, "CHTHONIC - Rhythm Crusher."

Earlier this month following two Japan performances, Chthonic joined fans in Tokyo at Rockaholic (bar-rockaholic.jp) for a live battle of the game. Fans from all around the world were invited to join the festivities via the game's online 'Vs. Mode,' with the winning fan in attendance taking home a brand new iPad Mini. Chthonic fan, Satoshi Mukaide, took home the grand prize, despite losing the final match to Chthonic vocalist Freddy Lim.

Said Lim, "When I'm playing 'Rhythm Crusher,' I can feel the energy from the music even more! I think that's why I'm so addicted to it."

Chthonic continues to battle online against fans every day. The band members can be identified by their personal screen names: FreddyLimTT, dorisyeh0919 and Jessefilth, so be sure to keep an eye out for the chance to battle the current "Chthonic - Rhythm Crusher" World Champion, vocalist Freddy Lim!

China's Government Against Heavy Music? TESTAMENT & CRADLE OF FILTH Concerts Cancelled!

Mainland China is one of those territories in which all media is heavily controlled by the government. The rigid censorship laws have definitely affected the growth of our music, even though there are thousands of Heavy Music fans in all of China's territories.

Yesterday (February 26), CRADLE OF FILTH were forced to cancel their upcoming tour because of "The Cultural Section of the Chinese Government have decided that COF are unsuitable to play in Mainland China", stated the band. "We are currently banned from playing there. Therefore the show on Tue 30 April in Shang Hai, China - MAO Live House has had to be moved to Hong Kong. The new venue is Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre (KITEC) in Hong Kong on April 30th 2013."

It has just been announced by TESTAMENT that they won't be able to perform in China and Taiwan after their Visa's were denied. A statement from the band follows:

"To all our friends in China and Taiwan:

"It is with regret that we must inform you of the cancellation of our performances in Shanghai and Taipei until further notice due to visa issues beyond the control of the band or promoter. Fans in the Asian Pacific region are encouraged to come visit us at our shows in Japan. As we had a terrific experience performing in China and Taiwan in 2007, we eagerly await the resolution of the visa issues and hope to visit again very soon.

"Thanks for your understanding and your undying support."

It is pretty sad when the government dictates the type of entertainment the citizens can or cannot have access to.

CHTHONIC: Sexy Doris Photo Album “Set fire to the island” Revealed + NEW Single Announced For Preorder!

Having been chosen as FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in the World for four consecutive years, and one of the Hottest Chicks in Metal by the US-based Revolver magazine, Doris, the bassist of Taiwanese Heavy Metal band Chthonic, now represents almost 100 pages of her unique sexiness with photos shot by master photographer Joshua Lin!

However loud the music may be, sometimes there's too little that can be said through music, when we actually have much to say. Therefore, here is it, a photo album with not many words, but tells many stories aloud.

This is an “accidental” book of images. At first, it was just a regular photo shooting for a fashion magazine, however, at Doris took part in brainstorming for themes, the ideas of struggling, repression, liberation, and freedom came up. As Joshua’s team fueled the project, it eventually became a complete and conceptual book of images shot in Green Island. Doris had different outfits to visualize the concepts of control on thoughts, censorship, twisted humanitarianism, strict surveillance and schizoid personality—in addition to her sexiness. Doris returns to her identity as a rock musician at the end to give birth to a new and free soul.

One of the most outstanding rockers, Doris has been on almost all rock magazines as well as fashion magazines, conquering the world with her unique sexiness. Joshua Lin, a renowned Taiwanese photographer who has taken perfect pictures for many celebrities in Taiwan. In 2012, Doris works with Joshua for the first time and traveled all the way to Green Island for an absolutely eye-catching photographic album.

The photo book may surprise you with large close-up raw shots, and images that show the artistic relationship between humans and the space. You may also take it as the “discovery channel”, as it would take you to coral reefs, coast, and caves of Green Island, it would also take you to the Human Rights Park where thousands of Taiwanese intellectuals were locked up by the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) regime.

Doris: Set Fire to the Island is the best choice whether you want to keep it for yourself, give it as a gift to your buddies, or share it with your girl friends. See more images HERE!

For those music lovers, Chthonic has specially composed a symphony with piano, strings, and wind music, so that you may enjoy it not only with your eyes, but also with your ears.

Let’s use our freedom to promote that of all human beings! 10% of the revenue from sales of the book would be donated to Amnesty International.
