As previously reported, Taiwanese Metal exhibitionists CHTHONIC have completed work on their seventh studio entitled 'Bú-Tik'. The ten track opus was recorded at Sweden’s Sweetspot Studio by producer Rickard Bengtson, who also worked on 2011’s critically-lauded 'Takasago Army' full-length and finds the band sharpening their signature brand of self-dubbed symphonic “orient Metal.” Today (May 29), the band is premiering the music video for "Sail Into The Sunsets Fire" (the second and latest single from ‘Bú-Tik’! In related news, CHTHONIC are confirmed to play on the Pepsi Max Stage on Saturday, June 15 at Download Festival 2013 at its historical stamping ground of Donington Park. The band last appeared at Download in 2011, but for this follow-up show are returning in greater numbers, the plan being to utilize the skills of an orchestra. Notes Yeh, “This is the first time we’ll have played with the orchestra outside of Taiwan. Yesterday (May 21), Jason Newsted performed with his solo band NEWSTED at the Highline Ballroom in New York City. During the performance, Newsted was knocked out by a fan who decided it would be a good idea to hop on stage and then stage dive into the crowd. While stage diving is part of Metal shows, this stage diver ended up knocking Jason Newsted off his feet and could have caused some serious injuries on himself, on Newsted, or on other concert goers. Guys: PLEASE BE CAREFUL!
Our good friend Ryan Dwyer (pictured above) was right in front of Newsted when this incident took place, here is what he saw:
"I attended the Jason Newsted show last night in new York City at the Highline Ballroom and an incident took place during 'Whiplash'. During the solo, a fan jumped on stage to jump into the crowd but for some reason in the process, rammed Newsted into the audience where I was, and he fell on top of us and on to the floor. At first we thought Newsted wanted to crowd surf but we had no idea he was pushed since it happened so fast. Myself and the fans around me thought Jason was going to crowd surf but turns out a fan knocked him down and thought it was awesome that he did it. It looked like he was shaken up for a few seconds but the band continued on with 'Whiplash'. Jason was in high spirits again and continued playing like a badass. I caught up with Jason after the show and showed him the video. He was feeling a little sore but was still ok. He even said to me, put it on Youtube."

NEWSTED recently announced the addition of STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok.
"It was obvious from the word go that Mike is one of us," said Jason. "Professional, focused, happy and grateful to be able to make our beautiful noise together!"
Texas Thrash heavyweights WARBEAST are pleased to reveal the upcoming release date for their upcoming full length album, Destroy. The NEW album, produced by Philip H. Anselmo and engineered by Stephen "The Big Fella" Berrigan, will hit stores and digital retailers on April 2, 2013 via Housecore Records. 'Destroy' was recorded at Nodferatu's Lair in May and July 2012 and mixed by Anselmo and Berrigan. The album artwork and concept were designed by “Carcass” John Fossum with graphic and technical adviser John Deleon.
A CD release show for 'Destroy' will take place at The Rail Club in Fort Worth, TX on April 6, 2013. This is currently the first live date WARBEAST has planned for 2013 after the close of their current tour, “The Weed & Speed Tour: West Coast Throwdown in the Year of XIII”, with headliners Down. The tour ends today in Chattanooga, TN.
Additionally, the band has announced that their bassist Dre’ Karst is leaving the band:
"WARBEAST bassist Dre’ Karst will be leaving the band because he is unable to keep up with our busy touring schedule due to his work occupation. We are saddened that Dre’ has to leave the band. But we will be the first to acknowledge that Dre’ did an amazing job while he was in Warbeast. He only had 2 weeks to prepare to record our upcoming full-length album 'Destroy'. He also kicked ass at all of the shows and on the 3 tours with Down. So please everyone… join us in giving Dre’ his props for what he accomplished in his time in Warbeast. THANKS SO MUCH DRE’!!! Not only will he be touring with his solo band in 2013 (tour dates below), which will once again feature VAN HALEN's Wolfgang Van Halen on bass, but he has announced via his Facebook page that he will be working on some NEW ALTER BRIDGE music right after the holidays:
"Spending the holidays with my family up in Chicago. When I get home we begin writing the next Alter Bridge album!"

As previously reported, VAN HALEN's bassist Wolfgang Van Halen (son of Eddie Van Halen) has joined TREMONTI, the solo band of guitarist Mark Tremonti (ALTER BRIDGE/CREED), during the bands current tour (details below). TREMONTI is currently touring in support of his solo debut album 'All I Was'.
It is reported that Tremonti initially wanted Van Halen to play bass on his NEW album, but the bassist's commitments to his other band kept it from happening.
Wolfgang was scheduled to be on the road with Van Halen for much of late 2012, but his father, guitarist Eddie Van Halen, recently had emergency surgery following a severe bout of diverticulitis. He is expected to make a full recovery, with the band returning to the road in 2013.

As previously reported, Coheed and Cambria bassist Michael Todd was fired from the band after being arrested by Attleboro, MA Police, after showing a Walgreens pharmacist a note on his cell phone which said he had a bomb and that he wanted some Oxycontin. Oxycontin! Really? Then to make matters worse, he fled the scene via taxi with six bottles of pain pills. Police arrested him without any incidents outside of the Comcast Theater where Coheed and Cambria were scheduled to open up for Soundgarden (the band performed without him). He was charged with armed robbery and unlawful possession of prescription narcotics. He was released on July 25th after posting a $25,000 bail, and is currently awaiting trial.
The band has announced that Zach Cooper is the NEW bassist of the band via this introductory video:

IMPENDING DOOM released their brand NEW full length album entitled 'Baptized in Filth' on March 13th via EOne Music. Produced by Andreas Magnusson (The Black Dahlia Murder) and Machine, this is the bands fourth full length and most ferocious effort to date.
Recently, we had the chance to chat with IMPENDING DOOM's bassist David Sittig at the "Metalliance Tour" in New York City. Rex Brown is one of the most charismatic, talented and versatile musicians within the Heavy Music scene. You may know him from his stellar career with Heavy Metal Kings Pantera, or from his successful run with super-group Down. Well, Rex made the decision to leave Down earlier this year (Crowbar's bassist Patrick Bruders took Rex's place in Down) and decided to join a new musical venture alongside Vinnie Appice (Heaven & Hell, Black Sabbath & DIO), Mark Zavon (RATT, W.A.S.P. & 40 Cycle Hum), and Jason "Dewey" Bragg (Pissing Razors), called King Devil Hill.
This is what Rex had to say about his decision to leave Down.
"I was playing with Down a whole bit and I just kind of got tired of the… You know, Philip Anselmo (Pantera/Down & Superjoint Ritual) and I had been together 23 years. And when I first met these guys (Kill Devil Hill) in January of this year, when I walked in and we played in the rehearsal room, it just clicked. The chemistry and everything that went along with it… I mean, it's so easy to say that, but really… I just said, 'To hell with it. This is what I wanna do.' I didn't make an announcement at all [that I was leaving DOWN]; I just quit."
Kill Devil Hill recently signed a record deal with SPV/Steamhammer. The band has been busty working on their debut album, scheduled for a March 2012 release. The as-yet-untitled effort is being produced by Warren Riker (Down, Corrosion Of Conformity, Sublime and Cathedreal.
