DEFTONES Bassist Chi Cheng Hospitalized With Pneumonia!

This past Thursday (June 14th), original DEFTONES bassist Chi Cheng was hospitalized and diagnosed with pneumonia. As previously reported, Chi was in a tragic car accident. As a result, he suffered some very serious brain injuries. Ever since the accident Chi has been in a state of semi-consciousness after suffering severe TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). While Chi is still in a delicate condition, his condition has been improving. As you will see on the video below, Chi can now lift up his leg on command! Chi still needs your help, Click here to donate to One Love For Chi!

Here's the latest update from Chi's mother:

"Hi Gina (founder of OneLoveForChi)! Let me send a quick blog to our lovely OneLove family.

"Mae has been staying with Chi for most of the time since Chi went into ICU on Thursday. Today when Sal and I went in to see him, he looked better than we had expected. He was quite aware of what was going on. He is still on life support and not enjoying the tube down his throat.

"He did respond to us and they are going to try to ween him off the breathing machine tomorrow. When they tried today he did not do well but he has been on it before and gotten off without incident.

"He is sedated part of the time but knows that he is near home and we are waiting to get him back to the house. He knows that we are there. Sal read him all of the comments that were sent to him and he knows that there are so many people sending prayers and love.

"Sal took a few pics for me to share with you. He is quite intensely listening to what I say and responds in different small but deliberate ways. He knows that we are waiting for him.

"Thank you all again for the prayers and support! He wanted so much to be home and you all brought him home to California and to his family. We are so grateful! Please keep him lifted in prayer. Blessings to you all family!"

Our thoughts and prayers are with Chi's family, friends and all of the DEFTONES fans.

There Is Hope For Chi Cheng From The Deftones; Watch This Video Of Him Lifting His Leg Up On Request!

On November 3rd, 2008, Deftones bass player Chi Cheng was in a tragic car accident. As a result, he suffered some very serious brain injuries. Ever since the accident Chi has been in a state of semi-consciousness after suffering severe TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). While Chi is still in a delicate condition, his condition is improving. As you will see on the video below, Chi can now lift up his leg on command! Chi still needs your help, Click here to donate to One Love For Chi!

Chi's improvement, is in big part thanks to the work of the International Brain Research Foundation. The method that has been used in order to help maintain Chi stable is a pioneering method of treatment that could eventually wake Chi back up. As you can imagine, this is a very expensive treatment so the Deftones family need as much help as possible in order to raise some funds.

Wake Up Fest: Chi Cheng (deftones)

On November 3rd, 2008, Deftones bass player Chi Cheng was in a tragic car accident. As a result, he suffered some very serious brain injuries. Ever since the accident Chi has been in a state of semi-consciousness after suffering severe TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury).

Thanks to the work of the International Brain Research Foundation, Chi's condition has improved in the last year. The method that has been used in order to help maintain Chi stable is a pioneering method of treatment that could eventually wake Chi back up. As you can imagine, this is a very expensive treatment so the Deftones family need as much help as possible in order to raise some funds.

Chi’s mother, Jeanne Cheng, her son and Chi’s brother, Ming Cheng, and family friends Gina Blackmore and Dennis Morrow have been raising awareness and money that has all gone towards Chi's long and expensive treatment. Benefit shows have already commenced, and this Saturday January 22nd "Wake Up Fest" will invade Massachussets, Connecticut, Rhode Island, California, and Maryland. All ticket sales will go towards Chi's treatment. Click here for more details!

This is only one of many series of shows that "Wake Up Fest" will put together in 2011. Apart from the benefit shows, national acts are being asked to donate $.25 from their ticket sales, in order to transport Chi to a treatment facility in New Jersey for a 6 month rehabilitation treatment. Relocation is an issue, so anyone who wants to donate a motor home, tour bus, or any other mode of transportation to get Chi from coast to coast is asked to contact the family at One Love For Chi, where you can also make individual donations.

Horns Up Rocks supports "Wake Up Fest" and the "One Love For Chi" foundation. We ask every single one of you to come together and celebrate your lives by helping out one of our brothers! \m/

Here is ONE SONG FOR CHI, featuring Jim Root, Clint Lowery, Wayne Lozinak, Adam Dutkiewicz, James Shaffer, Brian Welch, Reginald Arvizu, Robert Trujillo, Ray Luzier, Dave McClain, Morgan Rose, Noah Bernardo, Mike Wengren and Sid Wilson!
