METALLICA's first-ever outdoor festival "Orion Music + More" took place last weekend at Bader Feld in Atlantic City, New Jersey. METALLICA's concept of having a cross over music festival was well received by thousands of fans who dominated the pit and drank plenty of beer. METALLICA headlined both nights of the fest and played 'Ride The Lightning' in its entirety on the first night and performed 'The Black Album' on the second tonight. METALLICA's first-ever outdoor festival "Orion Music + More" kicked off last night (Saturday, June 23) at Bader Feld in Atlantic City, New Jersey. METALLICA is headlining both nights of the fest and playing 'Ride The Lightning' in its entirety last night and will perform in its entirety 'The Black Album' later tonight (watch it below). This will be the only time the band will perform these albums in North America in 2012.

Yesterday, Monday (May 7) the Kings of Thrash Metal made their triumphant return to European soil. METALLICA's brief European tour, kicked off in the Czech Republic and the band brought the Czechs a very special surprise: the band performed their self-titled album (also known as The "Black" Album) in its entirety for the first time in history! And get this, METALLICA performed their ground breaking album from back to front.
“What a great show here in Prague to start off the 20th Anniversary of the Black Album!” a post on METALLICA’s website reported on the Czech Republic gig. “The band surprised everyone, and played it backwards! During and after Sandman, it was pyro, pyro, pyro, and pyro!!! Sandman had fireworks, Fuel had the big flames…”

The members of French progressive Heavy Metal band Gojira, have announced that they will be joining the legendary Thrash Metal band Metallica for a one-off show. This historical concert is a celebration of Metallica's 'Black Album' and will take place on May 12th at the Stade de France in Paris, France! Gojira had previously shared the stage with Metallica (along with Lamb Of God), on a North American tour in September/October 2009.
Gojira have been very busy at Spin Recording Studios in New York City recording their sixth studio album. The NEW Gojira record is being co-produced Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God & Ikillya) for an early 2012 release. Additionally, Gojira inked a deal with Roadrunner Records recently.

- Metallica (also known as The Black Album) is the bands self-titled fifth studio album.
- "The Black Album" was produced by Bob Rock, and it was released on August 12, 1991 through Elektra Records to critical acclaim.
- The album produced six hit singles: "Enter Sandman", "Don't Tread on Me", "The Unforgiven", "Nothing Else Matters", "Wherever I May Roam", and "Sad but True".
This is what drummer Lars Ulrich told Kerrang! magazine, when asked why Metallica decided to do "the Black Album" at next years Download Festival.
"The people at Download asked. It wasn't our idea. The thing is, although we haven't played at Donington for six years, we have been to the U.K. pretty much every single summer since then." Ulrich added, "So they wanted us to do something different, and that's what they came up with. I quite like the fact that come next summer it'll be the 21st anniversary of the 'black album,' not the 20th."
Regarding if his him and band-mates would have to re-learn the two songs from the record — "Don't Tread On Me" and "The Struggle Within" — that Metallica has never played live before, Lars said,"Yeah. Although to be honest with you, a song like 'The Struggle Within' is a lot easier to re-learn than 'The Frayed Ends Of Sanity'. I don't think it's going to be too difficult for us to figure out these songs."
