GOD FORBID Announce Hurricane Sandy Benefit Show!
On October 29th, 2012 the east coast experienced one of the largest Atlantic hurricanes on record that affected millions and destroyed thousands of homes, businesses and communities in its path. Hurricane Sandy made landfall in Atlantic City, New Jersey and ripped its way through New York City and other coastal communities. New Jersey melodic Metallers GOD FORBID were personally affected by this storm as were their fans, family and friends. They are very pleased to announce that on Friday, January 11th at The Boneyard in Atlantic City they will be participating in Revive The Shore Part III, a concert series that will benefit areas affected by Hurricane Sandy. Doors open at 6 PM and tickets are available for $15 dollars in advance or $18 at the door. More information can be found HERE.
Vocalist Byron Davis comments, “We would like to wish everyone a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. With that being said we should take this time and reflect on how tragedy can turn ones world upside down; we need to be grateful for the ones we have in our lives and remember those who have lost everything.”
He continues, “This benefit show gives us the opportunity to let our fellow New Jerseyians know that we have not forgotten them and will honor their struggles with pride. For one night, we will all come together for remembrance and fun to raise contributions that will help re-build communities and people’s spirits that were affected around the Jersey Shore. We are looking forward to seeing New Jersey stand together united. See you there!”
GOD FORBID has been rocking out for nearly fifteen years, sweeping the nation with one of the most promising forms of melodic Thrash Metal. With their sixth album, 'Equilibrium' (available now via Victory Records) under their belts, GOD FORBID has been touring continuously across North America. They rounded out 2012 supporting SHADOWS FALL throughout the US and an extensive run on the Trespass America Tour with Metal heavyweights FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, TRIVIUM, EMMURE and more. Fans can expect to see more of GOD FORBID’s powerful and dynamic live stage performance this New Year and should stay tuned for upcoming tour announcements here.

VOD's Tim Williams Discusses The Impact Of Hurricane Sandy & The Bands Newest Sonic Assault 'The Curse Remain Cursed'!
Nextmosh photo gallery HERE!
Following the devastation brought on by Hurricane Sandy on October 29th, Long Island badasses Vision Of Disorder immediately reorganized their headlining show in Brooklyn, NY. On Saturday, November 24th the band organized a benefit show for the victims of Sandy. The event was coordinated by VOD along with Candlelight Records, Earsplit PR and Metal Insider.
100% of the ticket proceeds from VOD as well as supporting acts Yuppicide, Swarm of Arrows and Primitive Weapons were donated to the Red Cross to aid residents whose lives were impacted by the storm. Show attendees brought supplies for area shelters and food banks. Supplies to aid pets and animals displaced by the storm were donated to Last Resort Animal Rescue in New Jersey.
Following this very special show, we joined forces with our friends from Nextmosh and conducted an exclusive interview with VOD's own Tim Williams. During the interview we discussed the impact of Hurricane Sandy within the East Coast of the United States, and why the band decided to take matters into their own hands. We also discussed the band latest sonic assault 'The Cursed Remain Cursed' (available now via Candlelight Records).

5 reasons why YOU should come to our Dimebag Darrell/Hurricane Sandy benefit show!
1) Saturday, December 8th, marks the 8th anniversary of the day that we all lost our guitar hero: Dimebag Darrell Abbott. What would Dimebag do if he was still around? Play music super loud and party all night long. Don't let him down and come put back some $5 Blacktooth Grins (Dime's favorite drink)!
2) The victims of Hurricane Sandy need all of our help, which is why we will be raising funds all night long! Part of the proceeds will be donated to two of the bands performing on Saturday night: ALEKHINE'S GUN and DIMEBAG NYC, who lost all their gear to the hurricane.
3) We have Marc Rizzo from SOULFLY and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY performing at the event for the second year in a row with the Marc Rizzo Band. Dime is Rizzo's favorite guitar player ever, so he is stoked about performing in the name of his guitar hero.
4) DRIVEN MAD's debut show in Brooklyn, NY! And we can't forget that it will be the last show this year in which you will get to see IKILLYA and THINNING THE HERD!
5) It will also be the first and only Horns Up Rocks show in Brooklyn, NY in 2012. This marks our return to The Trash Bar after a whole year! Last show we did there was the first "Holiday Tribute Show For Dimebag Darrell" in December of 2011. Get there early to enjoy the open bar (7 - 8 PM).
See you all THIS Saturday, December 8th at The Trash Bar in Brooklyn, NY!

ASHES WITHIN To Perform This Weekend In Brooklyn NY After Losing Their Gear To Hurricane Sandy!
Brooklyn, NY's ASHES WITHIN lost all of their to Hurricane Sandy. While the band could have thrown the towel, they decided to continue crushing senses. This Saturday, November 24th, they will be performing at the Knitting Factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, alongside with CAR BOMB and KASE REESE. If you like true underground Metal, you will be there!
What sets ASHES WITHIN apart? ASHES WITHIN plays brutal, honest music. They do not try to emulate a style, or fit into any particular arcane sub-genre of the Metal scene. Their songs are crafted for maximum visceral impact, whether it be simple or complex, harmonious or discordant. Their music is a collectively distilled response to both personal and global events. Things aren’t pretty out there, and they’re degenerating daily.
They feel like that the music they write is perhaps the only rational response to the things going on around. The world is gut-wrenchingly harsh and ugly much of the time; this ugliness has left many dead inside, hence the name ASHES WITHIN - so be it—their music stands as a rejoinder to that ugliness. Renowned in the fertile Brooklyn underground as one of the most violently cathartic acts in the scene, ASHES WITHIN are both feared and loved for their devastating stage performances.

Long Island Hardcore pioneers VISION OF DISORDER have just released their newly-completed official video for the pummeling track “Hard Times”. The fourth anthem from their lauded, fourth full-length 'The Cursed Remain Cursed', VOD enlisted the expertise of Tom J. Cronin to direct and construct the high-paced visual depiction of the song, filmed live at two vicious gigs in London and Manchester just days before the release of 'The Cursed Remain Cursed' this past September.

Slayerville's STARLAND BALLROOM Closed Until Spring 2013 "Thanks" To Hurricane Sandy - Statement Available!
A MESSAGE FROM THE STARLAND BALLROOM:
The last two weeks in New Jersey have been a testament to our state’s resilience. We’ve witnessed New Jersey’s worst days, but also its greatest humanity. We’ve seen destruction, but we’ve also seen hope, hard work and determination.
Our situation at Starland is a microcosm of these scenarios -- yet one we realize is significantly less important than one’s home, family or livelihood. Hurricane Sandy devastated our electrical system and damaged our sound, lighting, heating / cooling and plumbing systems – all necessary ingredients in operating a public venue. Given the demand for these components in the regional housing and commercial sectors, we do not anticipate being able to open again until Spring 2013.
Speaking of 2013, it’s the year in which we intend to celebrate Starland Ballroom’s 10th anniversary. So we’re dedicated to taking this time to rebuild the state’s best concert venue, and make it even better. We’ll take inspiration from all of our New Jersey neighbors who are working hard to get their lives back to normal. When it’s all said and done, we’ll be here for some of the best live concert celebrations available.
You can help in this effort: Send us an email to info@starlandballroom.com with your suggestions and ideas on how to make Starland even better. We’ll read every last one of them.
Most of our shows will be canceled. A few will be moved to new locations. We'll have them listed HERE and at Starland Ballroom ASAP.
Fans holding tickets to the canceled shows will receive a full refund, including fees. If you bought tickets online or via phone, you will receive an automatic refund within 7-10 business days. If you bought your tickets from a Ticketmaster retail outlet, you may return your tickets to that exact location for your refund. Tickets purchased here at Starland can be turned in for a full refund plus service fees during new hours of operation - Thursdays and Fridays from 3-6pm and Saturdays from 11am-2pm. The Box Office will not be open on Thanksgiving. Fans holding tickets to relocated shows, but unable to attend due to the new location, are also entitled to a refund. 2012 Starland SeasonPass holders will be permitted to use their passes for shows in 2013.
We regret that any of these shows are going away, but not as much as we regret the pain, suffering and destruction experienced by our customers throughout the Garden State. Much like the spirit of New Jersey, you can't stop Rock N' Roll. And we don’t intend to.
Jersey proud, Starlanders. We’ll see you soon.

VISION OF DISORDER's Brooklyn Headlining Show = Red Cross Benefit For Hurricane Sandy Victims!
Today VISION OF DISORDER confirms that all the proceeds from their upcoming headlining concert in Brooklyn later this month will be donated to the Red Cross, in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
What was simply a headlining show for the band has now been dubbed “Picking Up Change: Hardcore For Hurricane Relief.” VISION OF DISORDER initiated this act of support to their community after witnessing the catastrophic demolition across the New York metropolitan area and beyond as Sandy surged through our region on October 29th. VOD, as well as the other bands performing at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on November 24th, will contribute donations to the Red Cross to help aid the decimated areas and many displaced local residents throughout the Northeast as the season grows colder.
In a collective statement the members of VOD had this to say: “Our hearts go out to those severely affected by this tragic incident. Being from Long Island, Hurricane Sandy has (quite literally) hit home for us. The music scene in Long Island, The New York metro area and New Jersey have been so supportive to VOD over the years that we felt donating the proceeds from the Brooklyn show was a no-brainer. We are proud to announce that the opening acts (Primitive Weapons, Yuppicide, Swarm of Arrows) have also agreed to donate their proceeds. We hope that this small gesture can add to the ongoing efforts and help rebuild these traumatized areas. We look forward to seeing you all on Nov 24th to support this cause.”
In addition to the funds generated by VISION OF DISORDER, Yuppicide, Primitive Weapons and Swarm of Arrows at “Picking Up Change: Hardcore For Hurricane Relief” going directly to the Red Cross, show attendees are invited to bring supplies – canned/nonperishable food, batteries, toilet paper, etc. -- for area shelters and food banks, as donation bins will be posted outside of the venue. Supplies to aid pets and animals displaced by the storm are also acceptable and will be donated to Last Resort Animal Rescue in New Jersey.
The members of VISION OF DISORDER, in an alliance with Candlelight Records, Earsplit PR, Metal Insider, The Music Hall of Williamsburg and all parties involved with this event, are reaching out to all area hardcore and metal fans to join them on November 24th, not only to take part in what is sure to be a high-action live show, but more importantly to help contribute to this imperative objective of getting the displaced families and businesses back on their feet. Doors open at 7:30pm.

What Does MACHINE HEAD Do When They Get "Forced" Vacations?

So what does MACHINE HEAD do when they get some "forced" vacations? Well, recently the great folks over at Roadrunner Records spoke with Robb Flynn on the phone and asked him how they spent their unexpected vacation, and whether anything like this has ever happened to them before. Here is what he had to say about this!
You guys had almost a week there where shows got re-scheduled because of the hurricane. So what did you do on your days off?
"Uh, I went out drinking a couple of nights… I mean, we started in Florida, and the Orlando show was cancelled, the Norfolk [Virginia] show was cancelled, the Philly show was cancelled, then New York… we’ve literally been driving up the East Coast following the hurricane, and getting shows cancelled along the way, because that was the routing. So you know, we had some days off there, and we worked out in some killer gyms, went out drinking a few nights in Richmond, went to a couple of cool bars out there, but it can be pretty boring. We got a couple of rehearsal places and practiced and rehearsed a few times, which was awesome. Just shit like that – you can’t really do much.
Is this the first time you guys have had to cancel because of natural disasters?
"Well, when 9/11 happened, we had a tour set up that started five days after 9/11. The first show was on the 16th. And there was a lot of talk about cancelling it. We wanted to cancel it, but everyone talked us into it, so the tour went on, and in some ways it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. It was just like, what the fuck? The world seemed like it was turning on its head – you didn’t know anything, it was all fucked up, but kids were coming to the shows and just staring at us like, why am I here? We were looking at a whole front row of people staring at us like, "Why am I here? Tell me it’s gonna be OK." And in a lot of ways, it was so therapeutic, to just get out there and scream your head off and rage and headbang and sweat and even just for two hours forget about it. Not even forget about it, but just be with other people who were going through the same thing. In the end, it was one of the most incredible tours we had done, leading up to the release of 'Supercharger' and all the fallout that we had from that – you know, we had the “Crashing Around You” video, which had us standing on a bunch of buildings that were on fire and crashing and falling – [laughs] it was like, wow, the worst video you could have made for that time period. It was a crazy time, and in another way it was an amazing time, to have that communal release through Metal. But yeah, we had to cancel the New York show on that tour, and the DC date also, but most of the dates happened."
Don't forget to catch MACHINE HEAD on the road with DETHKLOK, ALL THAT REMAINS and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER. All up to date MACHINE HEAD tour dates can be seen here: http://www.machinehead1.com/tourdates
Today, MACHINE HEAD released 'Machine Fucking Head Live' via Roadrunner Records (Pick it up HERE!). It's Machine Head's second live effort; 'Hellalive' was released in 2003. Nine years have passed and Machine Head still slay and administer a "Bay Area Beatdown" in the live realm. Full details HERE!

Joey Z's Method Of Groove Studio Destroyed By "FrankenSandy" - Statement Available!
Sandy the bitch strikes again! Earlier today Joey Z (LIFE OF AGONY) announced that his recording studio was destroyed during the horrible storm. Here is a statement from Joey regarding the demise of Method Of Groove Studio, and how he plans to continue making awesome records!
The Bad News:
"After years of hard work that went into the development and brand, Method of Groove Studio has been completely devastated and submerged due to Hurricane Sandy. There is nothing left there. The water level inside the building was believed to be as high as 8 feet. Not only have I lost all the recording gear, I also lost all of my touring gear, dating back to the early 90’s… all of it. I was able to enter the building yesterday after water levels receded down to a couple of feet."
The Good News:
"My family is ok. My friends are ok. My home is ok. I will continue this path of producing and touring. I’ve recorded many bands in other studios before, whether it was America, Europe or Canada, and mixed them back here in NY. My mixing / mastering studio was not harmed since it is in a completely different location. I spoke with my management team, and we are confident with plans moving forward to record clients out of other studios. I have so many great friends both inside and outside the music industry, and feel blessed. I am going to leave the website up and running, and maybe alter it a bit over time. Contacting me for recording, mixing or mastering is still the same, (sans the studio telephone line). For all those who already have been helping and have sent their love and support, I thank you so much. I shot some video yesterday with hope for government, and/or insurance relief, which can be seen below."
