OBITUARY's John Tardy Discusses The Carnival Of Death Tour, NEW Album & Future Touring Plans!
Legendary Florida Death Metal ministers OBITUARY are set to kick off their first North American headlining tour in over three years this weekend! Brought to you by Rock The Nation and sponsored by Fender, the Carnival Of Death Tour 2012 will commence this Saturday in Orlando, Florida and tear its way through nearly two dozen cities. Further brutality will come from reunited Death Metallers Broken Hope as well as Decrepit Birth, Jungle Rot and Encrust.
The Carnival Of Death Tour marks OBITUARY’s first full North American tour run as a four-piece with Death Metal alumnus Terry Butler (Death, Six Feet Under, Massacre, Denial Fiend) on bass. For this trek, the band — vocalist John Tardy, drummer Donald Tardy, guitarist Trevor Peres and Butler — compiled a special fan-generated set list that will delve deep into their back catalog to include tunes predominantly off their renowned first three full-lengths: 'Slowly We Rot', 'Cause Of Death' and 'The End Complete'.
We recently had the chance to chat wit OBITUARY's vocalist John Tardy about The Carnival Of Death Tour, the bands NEW album, and the bands plans for the future! Check it out, and see you all at The Carnival Of Death Tour!
As previously announced, Fender will hosting a special contest throughout the duration of the tour. The grand prize winner will receive a Blacktop Stratocaster HH guitar. Contest entries will be accepted at the OBITUARY merch table. Finally, since the tour will be passing through New York City on September 11th, the band saw it fit to remove the “Carnival Of Death” tag for that date and, through an agreement with Live Nation, donate $2 from each ticket sale to a September 11th related charity.

OBITUARY Recording NEW Music - Video Interview Available!
OBITUARY are back from the dead! Earlier this week, the band announced the "Carnival Of Death" tour with Broken Hope, Decrepit Birth, Jungle Rot and Encrust (details below)! Now, according to an interview that MetalBlast.net conducted with Trevor Peres (OBITUARY guitarist) at the 2012 edition of the "Dokk'em Open Air" festival at Spriens Raard in Dokkum, Netherlands, the Floridean Death Metallers are recording a NEW 3 song EP! Here are a few excerpts of the interview:
Plans for NEW music:
Trevor Peres:
"We're actually… Before this tour, we started recording an EP. We were hoping to be finished recording before this tour, but a bunch of different personal things happened and we just didn't have time to finish it. But I've got all the guitar scratch tracks done and Donald [Tardy, drums] started doing scratch drum tracks. But when we get home from this, in one or two weeks we finish recording. It's like three NEW songs; it's an EP we're gonna do. We're actually gonna do a seven-inch picture disc — no CDs at all; just picture disc only. But then you [will be able to] download it from iTunes or Google Music and stuff. But then we've got another 10 songs we're gonna record after that. So, hopefully, by the end of the year — January, maybe — [there will be] a brand NEW full-length album."
On what the NEW Obituary music sounds like:
Trevor Peres:
"It's pure OBITUARY. In fact, we've got some of the catchiest hooks on this album. These songs are so amazing. In fact, one of the first songs [we wrote] for it I'm always humming in my head. It pisses me off because it's stuck there all the time. So it's a good thing; it's, like, really catchy, groovy OBITUARY."
As previously reported, OBITUARY has announced their long-anticipated North American headlining tour. Brought to you by Rock The Nation and sponsored by Fender, the near month-long Carnival Of Death Tour 2012 will run through September and include additional audio demolition from Broken Hope, Decrepit Birth, Jungle Rot and Encrust! Tour dates and further info to be announced in the coming days…. You have been warned.

Today We Remember Mario Comesanas: Gone, Still Rocking & NEVER Forgotten!

Soon after he graduated from Seton Hall University, he joined Sirius Satellite Radio (now Sirius XM) and started working with Jose Mangin as a DJ in Hard Attack (now Liquid Metal). During his tenure there, he also started working with Revolver Magazine at the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, were he hosted artist meet and greets and did tons of marketing work for the magazine. Before his passing, Mario had joined the independent label distributor RED Distribution.
Mario was also the singer of December Aeternalis, and most recently, Low Road. Ironically, we had plans to book Low Road for the first Horns Up Rocks show in New Jersey. This never happened.

Please put your Horns Up for Mario Comesanas, our Metal and Hardcore brother!

Mario's last interview was with New York Hard Core legends Agnostic Front, a day before the 2011 Black N Blue Bowl! This song is dedicated to Mario, keep rocking in Peace brother!
Mario, in behalf of the entire Heavy Music community: Thank you so much for everything you did for all of us! You are not forgotten and we all love you!

Howard Stern talks about the Passing of Mario Comesanas

"I was reading about a guy, worked here at Sirius. I didn't know him but this is pretty sad. His name was Mario Comesanas, he was one of the hosts at Sirius XM's Liquid Metal channel.
