Marky Ramone is best
known for the 15 years he spent drumming for the legendary Punk Rock titans RAMONES.
Prior to joining the RAMONES, Marky played with an array of influential
musicians dating back to his high school years when he was a member of
the Brooklyn based Hard Rock band, Dust. Recording two albums with his
friends, Richie Wise (guitar and vocals) and Kenny Aaronson (bass) for
Neil Bogart’s Karma Sutra/Buddha label.
In the spring of 1978,
Marky joined the RAMONES.In a matter of weeks he was in the studio
recording his first album with the band entitled, 'Road to Ruin',
which features one of the biggest RAMONES hit songs “I Wanna Be Sedated”.
The following year the RAMONES filmed the cult classic “Rock ‘n’ Roll
High School”. Later that year, they joined forces with producer legend,
Phil Spector to record 'End Of The Century'.
After
several tours and a two more studio albums, Marky was asked to leave
the band 1983, only to rejoin his band mates in 1987 until they decided
to call it quits in 1996. His tenure with the RAMONES spanned a total of
15 years. Performing over 1700 shows and more than 15 releases,
including songwriting credits on both Mondo Bizarro and Adios Amigos,
the bands farewell release.
In February 2011 The RAMONES received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. It was the first Grammy for the Punk Rock pioneers. Tomorrow (February 3), the self proclaimed king of partying, Andrew W.K., will be performing at a Super Bowl party in New York City. Last week, Michigan's BATTLECROSS (the Blue Collar Trash Metallers) joined AS I LAY DYING in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Metal Blade Records. The event took place at Santos Party House in New York City, and the band proved to everyone that was present and to those watching at home via a live webcast, that they have a brilliant future ahead. Not only do they display hard hitting musical vibrations that make ANY room shake, but they absolutely possess the right mind set and attitude to be a force to be reckoned with in the Heavy Music planet.
After a very successful run at these years TRESPASS AMERICA Festival, the band is entering their rehearsal space to begin writing the follow up to 2011's 'Pursuit Of Honor' (available now via Metal Blade Records).
Prior to the bands special performance, we had the chance to chat with the BATTLECROSS boys about how the last year has changed their lives thanks to the record deal they landed with Metal Blade Records and the numerous tours they have been part of. We also discussed the overall thinking process of the band as a whole after an extensive learning process of what to do and not to in the music world. Additionally, we spoke about the bands recent appearance at the 2012 TRESPASS AMERICA FESTIVAL and we obviously touched upon Metal Blade Records' 30 years of Heavy Metal domination. Legendary Florida Death Metal goliaths Obituary recently opened a can of whoop ass at Santos Party House in New York City, as part of their East Coast Possession tour. The entire show was streamed via UNAtion, which is an event-driven platform that will fundamentally change the way corporations, organizations and individuals interact with one another.
The band is currently composing the follow-up to their "Darkest Day" full-length, released in 2009 with plans to enter the studio early in the new year for a tentative late spring/early summer 2012 release.

This past weekend we had the privilege of seeing Hate Eternal perform live and loud at Santos Party House, alongside Origin, Vital Remains and Abysmal Dawn! Prior to the show we interviewed Erik Rutan about his extensive career as a Death Metal musician and as a Heavy Music producer. While we had always heard great things about Rutan, it was refreshing to find out that he is one of the most humble and professional Death Metal musicians out there. During the interview we discussed Hate Eternal's newest album "Phoenix Amongst the Ashes", as well as his work with other bands like Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Agnostic Front and Madball, just to name a few.
During the conversation we also discussed how Rutan was transplanted from New Jersey into Florida, in order to establish himself as a big player within the Death Metal scene. This past Sunday (July 10), Death Metal titans Hate Eternal were joined by the mighty Origin, Vital Remains and Abysmal Dawn, for one of the best Death Metal shows that has ever taken place at Santos Party House in New York City. From the moment we arrived and heard Hate Eternal's sound-check, we knew that it was going to be a great night full of headbanging, cold beers, crowd-surfing, windmilling, and lots of mosh-pitting! This show once again is proof that the New York City Heavy Music scene is RISING!
From the moment the show started with Abysmal Dawn from Los Angeles, California, the crowd lost their minds, and some even lost their shoes!
After the crowd had a chance to catch their breaths, drink a cold beer, and smoke a stoge... Vital Remains from Providence, Rhode Island, took center stage and made Santos Party House rock like a hurricane!
Then it was time for Origin from Topeca, Kansas, to tear up the entire place! During their entire set crowd-surfers from all ages and races, surfed over and over again on top of a sea of people! To say that Origin warmed the crowd up for Hate Eternal is an understatement!
Without losing any time, Hate Eternal from St. Petersburg, Florida, stepped on stage with the arduous task of following a ferocious set by Origin. Lead by Erik Rutan, Hate Eternal always fly the Death Metal flag with full power and might! The adrenalized crowd growled Rutan's lyrics with so much passion, that right after the show was over Rutan says to us: "Holy shit! This is the best show of the tour! I just want to end the tour now, because it wont get any better than this!" We have an exclusive interview with Erik Rutan coming very soon, so stay tuned!
Hate Eternal are currently busy infecting the masses with some pure Floridian Death Metal, and presenting to them their sixth studio album titled "Phoenix Amongst the Ashes" (Released on May 10, 2011 via Metal Blade Records). Here is what Erik Rutan had to say about their latest album:

Phoenix Amongst the Ashes was released on May 10th and was hailed as "a relentless, intriciate, and near-anthemic crowd-pleaser" by Revolver Magazine. Title sponsor of the tour, Decibel Magazine, proclaimed "Rutan's ornate melodies engage in a constant give-and-take with moments of absolutely vicious discordance, while drummer Jade Simonetto is so in control of such complex cadences and fills that you're compelled to sit back and marvel." Jade Simonetto's performance was further complimented by the highly respected DRUM! Magazine: "Phoenix showcases a far more dynamic band. Guitar passages range from weedly to art-y to textured…juxtaposing break-neck verses with near-mid-tempo groove sections…Simonetto takes the gold for endurance." Needless to say, Phoenix is in the running for one of the best overall death metal releases of 2011 and could very well be considered the best of the band's long and storied career.

HATE ETERNAL kicks off North American tour with ORIGIN today in Austin, TX!

Erik Rutan and co. will be joining fellow death metal legends Origin for a North American tour throughout June and July. The tour kicks off TODAY in Austin, TX at Emo's and wraps up on July 14th in Orlando, FL at Firestone Live. This tour will be the first in Hate Eternal's North American campaign in support of their latest album, Phoenix Amongst the Ashes. The tour is being presented by Decibel Magazine and Metal Injection in association with Sick Drummer, Scion, Laboga, and Choosing Death.

Phoenix Amongst the Ashes was released on May 10th and was hailed as "a relentless, intriciate, and near-anthemic crowd-pleaser" by Revolver Magazine. Title sponsor of the tour, Decibel Magazine, proclaimed "Rutan's ornate melodies engage in a constant give-and-take with moments of absolutely vicious discordance, while drummer Jade Simonetto is so in control of such complex cadences and fills that you're compelled to sit back and marvel." Jade Simonetto's performance was further complimented by the highly respected DRUM! Magazine: "Phoenix showcases a far more dynamic band. Guitar passages range from weedly to art-y to textured…juxtaposing break-neck verses with near-mid-tempo groove sections…Simonetto takes the gold for endurance." Kirk Windstein is synonymous to crushing riffs that seek vulnerable ears and destroy them without mercy. His guitar tone is recognizable by millions of Heavy Music fans worldwide, and as result imitated by almost every band out there. Many can try to sound like Kirk, but there is only one man that can handle being in three successful bands, being a father, and a soon to be husband.
After being an active musician for almost 25 years, you would think that Kirk is ready to slow down and lay back. The truth of the matter is that when it comes to the circle of hard-hitting musicians that come from New Orleans, they play music from the heart and not even a devastating hurricane can stop them from spreading their music like a wild fire.
Taking it easy has never been part of Kirk’s ritual; the man is by far one of the hardest working musicians in Heavy Music today. Not only does he lead Crowbar, but he is also a vital part of the mighty Down and Jamey Jasta’s right hand man in Kingdom Of Sorrow. He is also working on a solo record that he hopes to release sometime this year (more details in the video interview).
During Crowbar’s recent stop in New York City for the Metalliance Tour, we sat down to chat with Kirk about life on the road, his music and how after 25 years he decided to leave his boozing years behind in order to focus on his family. This exclusive interview took place in side Irving Plaza as the fans were arriving to catch one of the best tours of the year.

- Kirk was born in Middlesex, England on April 14, 1965.
- His career started in 1987 when he joined a band called Victorian Blitz as guitarist. The band was a Judas Priest and Iron Maiden cover band.
- Today he sings and plays guitar in Crowbar, Down, and Kingdom of Sorrow.
