Recently, IRON MAIDEN launched the "Trooper Beer", the beer was developedby Bruce Dickinson who is a real ale enthusiast andas a result developed a beer which has true depth of character.
Independent U.K. brewer Robinsons (the brewers of the beer) have announced that they have been forced to change the label of the "Trooper Beer" because of the skull and crossbones design (the design above). Here is their official statement:
"Due to local Swedish government alcohol and marketing act which do not allow elements of war, weapons or aggression to be featured on alcoholic product, we were unable to sell 'Trooper beer' to our fans in Sweden unless we modified the label artwork.
"As our first and foremost priority is for our Swedish fans to be able to enjoy 'Trooper beer', we amended the label by simply focusing purely on [IRON MAIDEN mascot] Eddie's face and are now very pleased to advise that the NEW label, currently exclusive to Sweden, has now been approved (see the label below).
"Our distributor, Brands For Fans, advise that 'Trooper' premium British beer should be available in bottles in Sweden towards the end of June and delivered via orders at Systembolaget nationwide. Trooper will be also listed at restaurants and pubs all over Sweden.
"Meanwhile, 500 ml bottles with the original 'Trooper' label can be ordered directly from Robinsons U.K. via this web site."
In other IRON MAIDEN news, the band will make a brief return to the USA this September, playing seven specially selected shows en-route to Latin America where they will once again headline at the legendary Rock In Rio Festival, Brazil, on September 22, their show there having recently sold out to 70,000 fans in just a couple of hours! Yesterday, Thursday, May 9, IRON MAIDEN launched the "Trooper Beer", the beer was developedby Bruce Dickinson who is a real ale enthusiast andas a result developed a beer which has true depth of character. Malt flavors
and citric notes from a unique blend of Bobec, Goldings and Cascade
hops dominate this deep golden ale with a subtle hint of lemon. Here is the official press release regarding the launch of the "Trooper Beer":
"Trooper beer was officially launched yesterday at Robinsons
Brewery in Cheshire, with a reception attended by brewing trade
representatives from both the UK and Internationally. As fans may have
read recently, the unprecedented upfront demand for the beer meant
Robinsons had to brew three times a day, six days a week for the first
time ever in the Brewery’s 175 year history to cope with pre-orders in
excess of 300,000 pints.. Robinsons were overwhelmed by the number of
enquiries they’d had from all over the world and sent us a comprehensive
listing of whereabouts the interest had been – from a staggering 184
countries! So, a big thanks to all our fans and it’s great to know the
Maiden family extends into so many places where the band have never even
had a chance to play before! Robinsons Managing Director Oliver
Robinson then gave a short speech about how the Iron Maiden/Robinsons
collaboration came about and he presented Bruce with a specially
engraved Brewery hand pump, in recognition of Trooper being the Fastest
Ever Selling New Robinsons Beer. Bruce then pulled the first-ever pint
of Trooper from the cask in the Brewery bar amid loud applause from the
assembled crowd!"
"Trooper is now available to order online throughout most of the
EU, and Robinsons are working flat-out to ensure it will be available to
the rest of the world as soon as possible. For updates on when Trooper
is coming to a pub, bar or supermarket in your town/country keep
checking www.ironmaidenbeer.com."

Wow! Justin McBrain (pictured above), the son of IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain, will be facing a judge soon to defend himself against allegations that he robbed the items mentioned below at his parents' home in Palm Beach, Florida. The incident took place on April 26th.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Mc Brain allegedly burglarized an occupied dwelling and 2nd degree petit theft.A PBSO spokesperson told BocaNewsNow.com that deputies responded to a West Boca home after receiving a call that McBrain forced his way inside. The female homeowner (Nick Mc Brain's wife) reported that McBrain knocked repeatedly and then pushed his way in when the door was opened. McBrain allegedly rifled through the woman’s purse, taking the following items:
- A half-eaten chocolate bunny - Half of an orange — which he consumed in the home — - A belly ring - Cosmetics - Freezer pack
Justin is the second McBrain to get arrested within the last month. His mother Rebecca was charged by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office after she lost her cool and allegedly attempted to hurt a man. It it is unclear if that man was Nicko McBrain. More info on that case HERE!

IRON MAIDEN's pilot Bruce Dickinson recently spoke with Talarforum (a Swedish forum) about his legendary band and he mentioned that they have plans in entering the studio soon for a
potential 2014 album. "Iron Maiden fans do not need to feel that life is
hopeless. In addition to the upcoming tour plans, the band plans on recording a
new album, which, if all goes as planned, is scheduled for release in 2014." As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN have announced the creation of their own beer! Here is some NEW information about the "Trooper Beer":
- SHIPPING COSTS:
8 x 500ml glass bottles of
beer weighs 7.3kg, so it was never going to be cheap to ship! Why not
club together with a couple of friends and get 2 cases shipped for the same
cost as shipping 1? Postage is weird like that. And just so you know -
we don’t make any profit on the shipping costs and we pack your beer
extremely well to make sure it gets to you in one piece.
- CAN’T I GET IT IN THE SHOPS?
We are working very hard to get Trooper into shops and pubs so you can
avoid the shipping costs of ordering direct. We will of course be
letting you know where and when you can buy it (please note that it
isn’t released until May 9th) so if you’d rather wait and avoid paying
for postage, you can do that.
- WHEN IS IT COMING TO... ?
At
risk of repeating ourselves... yes we are working on worldwide
distribution! As soon as Trooper is available in your country, we will
be letting you know.

Wow! Rebecca McBrain (pictured above), the wife of IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain, will
be facing a judge on May 3rd to defend herself against allegations that she
attempted to stab and hit a man with logs at their home in Palm Beach, Florida.
The incident took place on February 24th. It is unclear if the man was Nicko McBrain! According to Boca News Now, McBrain was arrested and charged
with Domestic Battery after she allegedly — and unsuccessfully — tried
to stab someone in their home with a "decorative lance” on Woodset Way —
just south of Palmetto Park Road, then threw logs at the man, causing
minor injuries. She was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later
released on bond. She has entered a plea of “not guilty".
Whither it was Nicko who she attacked or not, Rebecca needs to mellow out!

As previously reported HERE,former IRON MAIDEN drummer Clive Burr passed away this past Tuesday, March 12, after battling with Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.) for many years. He will now rock in peace up in the sky!
Major bummer! IRON MAIDEN have confirmed the death of their former drummer Clive Burr. Our condolences go out to his family, friends, fans, and everyone at the MAIDEN camp. A statement from MAIDEN follows:
"We are deeply saddened to report that Clive Burr passed away last
night. He had suffered poor health for many years after being diagnosed
with Multiple Sclerosis and died peacefully in his sleep at home.
Steve Harris said “This is terribly sad news. Clive was a very old
friend of all of us. He was a wonderful person and an amazing drummer
who made a valuable contribution to Maiden in the early days when we
were starting out. This is a sad day for everyone in the band and those
around him and our thoughts and condolences are with his partner Mimi
and family at this time."
Bruce Dickinson adds “I first met
Clive when he was leaving Samson and joining Iron Maiden. He was a great
guy and a man who really lived his life to the full. Even during the
darkest days of his M.S., Clive never lost his sense of humour or
irreverence. This is a terribly sad day and all our thoughts are with
Mimi and the family”
As Maiden fans all know, Clive joined
Maiden in 1979 and performed on the first three albums Iron Maiden
(1980), Killers (1981) and The Number Of The Beast (1982).
Prior to that he was a member of Samson, the band Bruce fronted before he too joined Maiden."
ROCK IN PEACE Mr. Burr, you will be deeply missed! Related links: Iron Maiden

"The Charge Of The Light Brigade", which inspired
the Iron Maiden song "The Trooper", took place at the Battle Of Balaclava
(1854) during the Crimean War when 6—British cavalry courageously
charged the massed Russian artillery. This gallant but foolhardy assault
resulted in a massive loss of life and came about due to a
misunderstanding of an order given by the commanding officer, Lord
Raglan.
MAIDEN fans, get stoked and remember to always drink responsibly!
It is time for another "Throwback Thursday" video! This one is pretty damn legendary. Why? Well, it features IRON MAIDEN performing live at The Rainbow in 1981. As you can see below, the band featured Paul Di'Anno on vocals and not Bruce Dickinson. Di'Anno was one of the first singers of the band!

02. Wrathchild
03. Killers
04. Remember Tomorrow
05. Transylvania

As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN's Steve Harris has a NEW solo
album entitled 'British Lion'. The record contains ten songs that Steve
and his collaborators have been working on for the past few years
between MAIDEN's tours and releases.
Recently, John Doran of The Quietus chatted with IRON MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris to chat about 'British Lion' and the future of IRON MAIDEN! Here are some parts of the interview:
The Quietus:
Normally, side projects seem to get cranked out in six months down time but 'British Lion' must have the longest gestation period of any side project album ever.
Harris:
Probably yeah. [laughs] We've actually taken longer to get this album out than GUNS N' ROSES took with 'Chinese Democracy'. You say side projects are usually done in a six-month period but I don't get that amount of time available to me, unfortunately. As most people realize, I'm probably the busiest one in MAIDEN and there's always stuff going on. It would be a lie to say this album was done at a leisurely pace even… it was done at a snail's pace, a little bit here and a little bit there. But that's how it had to happen.
The Quietus:
Are you going to play live?
Harris:
I'd love to play the album live, I think we have to wait and see what the reaction is like first though, I never take anything for granted. I'd love to start with some club shows in key cities in Europe and then see how we go. Obviously it would be really weird because I know we haven't played any clubs for years.
The Quietus:
When was the last time you were actually phased by playing in front of an audience? You must be so used to big crowds now would you actually find it more frightening to play in front of an intimate audience… would the adrenaline be pumping more?
Harris:
Well, I don't know for sure, but yeah, I can imagine that once you step outside of the MAIDEN comfort zone, then you don't know what to expect. I still do get a little bit nervous at the beginning of MAIDEN tours but that's mainly because of the NEW material. We will have rehearsed but you can rehearse until the cows come home and the first few shows will always be a little bit rusty. Once you're confident, it doesn't matter so much. I used to get more worried years ago with MAIDEN about whether people were going to turn up or not. It's different now. I may not expect every single show to sell out and I never take everything for granted, but you still know you're going to get a certain amount of people.
The Quietus:
Obviously, in IRON MAIDEN you're all really fit, you play football, the gigs themselves are obviously workouts. Is there any reason why you can't keep on doing this for another ten years?
Harris:
I don't know about ten years, but I think we've certainly got another five years in us but it's hard to say. As you get older it gets doubly hard to keep yourself fit and in shape. We do work really hard on doing that. It's important to us. We'd be selling ourselves and everyone else short if we didn't, so we do look after ourselves. It does get tougher. I don't play football much anymore, but I play a lot of tennis. Partly because I've had so many problems with my back that I can only play the odd match here or there. Unfortunately, it's five years since I've played a full season of football and that's something that I miss a lot, but I had to make a decision.
The Quietus:
Given how abrasive Heavy Metal is with image, sound, philosophy, lyrics etc, how do you explain its huge global appeal?
Harris:
Because it really means something to the people who listen to it. It gives them an identity where they can feel part of it. And it's appealing that outsiders don't understand it. And if people from the outside do check it out properly, then I think a lot of people end up thinking, "You know, there's a lot more to this than meets the eye." And you know what? There is.

Today, Harris is premiering the music video for "This Is My God", which is a cut from his solo/side project album, 'British Lion'.
With a decidedly heavy rock-vibe this roaring debut paints with a full palette of sounds; brooding, melancholic, righteously indignant and exuberantly heavy. With Kevin Shirley at the mixing helm – whose credits include Iron Maiden as well as Led Zeppelin, Journey and Rush among many others – this is an album to sink your teeth into.

From the growling riffage of opening salvo "This Is My God" to the heavy forlorn balladry of follow-up "Lost Worlds" which showcases Richard Taylor’s soaring vocals, it’s clear that ‘British Lion’ is an altogether different beast from MAIDEN.
"Karma Killer", with its dirge-like muscularity, and "Us Against The World", with its massive chorus, demonstrates just how far ‘British Lion’ has flexed Steve Harris’ considerable musical muscle. "Dovetailed" with guitarist David Hawkins’ positively gargantuan lyrical guitar melodies, it’s a mere hors d'oeuvre ahead of the epic, riffing-feast of "The Chosen Ones", with its swaggering bravado.
"A World Without Heaven", at a breathtaking seven minutes and infused with progressive elements without ever teetering into self-indulgence illustrates perfectly these songsmiths’ colossal abilities to create a mood and stay there. Supercharged by Steve Harris’ inimitable style, there’s an un-cynical vibe here that’s as refreshing as it is out of place in today’s all-too-categorised music industry.
And as far as the name ‘British Lion’; “I’ve always been proud to be British,” explains Steve, “I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t be. It’s a massive part of being me. It’s not like I’m flag-waving or trying to preach, this is not a political statement at all. It’s like supporting your football team, where you come from. I just think it lends itself to some really strong imagery too, and to me it fits in with the sound.”

"We’re astonished and delighted", said singer Bruce Dickinson. "Some of the most influential and classic albums from the last 60 years were in the running, so it’s a testament to our incredibly loyal and ever-supportive fans".
When music retailer HMV recently ran a poll to determine the best British album of the past 60 years, the competition was undoubtedly stiff — with 'The Dark Side of the Moon', 'Abbey Road' and 'Led Zeppelin IV' in the running, just to name a few — it was IRON MAIDEN that took home top honors, earning just over 9% of the vote for their 1982 classic, 'The Number of the Beast'.
The full top ten are:
1. Iron Maiden: The Number of the Beast (9.2%)
2. Depeche Mode: Violator (6.3%)

9. Adele: 21 (3.1%)
10. The Beatles: White Album (2.6%)

'The Number of the Beast' is the third studio album by the British heavy Metal legends IRON MAIDEN, released on March 22, 1982. The album saw the debut of vocalist Bruce Dickinson, and the final appearance of drummer Clive Burr in the band.
'The Number of the Beast' met with considerable critical and commercial success and was a landmark release for the band, becoming their first album to reach No. 1 in the UK albums chart, and be certified platinum in the US. The album also produced the singles "Run to the Hills" and "The Number of the Beast", the former of which was the band's first top-10 UK single. The album was also controversial – particularly in the US – due to the religious nature of its lyrics and its artwork.
Since the release of 'The Number of the Beast' and its subsequent tour, The Beast on the Road, "The Beast" has become an alternate name for Iron Maiden, and was later used in the titles of some of their compilations and live releases, including 'Best of the Beast' and 'Visions of the Beast'. This past weekend Iron Maiden brought their legendary flavor of Metal to Tampa, Florida and showed the sunshine state that Heavy Metal is alive and well. As usual they had an amazing show and the thousands of Metaleros that gathered at the St. Pete Times Forum are still nursing their necks from so much headbanging. One unusual headbanger who attended the legendary performance was none other then pop diva Lady Gaga. Yeah, Lady Gaga! And get this, one of her favorite songs is "Run to the Hills" and her 666th twit proved that she is an avid Iron Maiden fan.
"The Number of the Beast. Having' beers listening to Maiden w the New York Boys. Happy 666 Twitterland."
You're probably thinking "what a poseur"! Well, the truth is that Lady Gaga has been into Heavy Metal for many years. Actually, she claims that when she was a Gogo dancer one of the songs that got her grooving was Black Sabbath's "Black Sabbath". Speaking of Sabbath, when Ryan Seacrest interviewed Ozzy Osbourne this is what the "Prince of Darkness" had to say about Lady Gaga:
"She's very clever, very interesting. She's wacky and I like the zaniness of that woman."
To this Lady Gaga responded: "Are you kidding? I'm the biggest BLACK SABBATH fan on Earth!"
Next time you see Lady Gaga ask her to put her Horns Up and prove to you that she is not a poseur! Hahahaha.
