IRON MAIDEN's pilot Bruce Dickinson recently spoke with Talarforum (a Swedish forum) about his legendary band and he mentioned that they have plans in entering the studio soon for a
potential 2014 album. "Iron Maiden fans do not need to feel that life is
hopeless. In addition to the upcoming tour plans, the band plans on recording a
new album, which, if all goes as planned, is scheduled for release in 2014." As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN have announced the creation of their own beer! Appropriately baptized as the "Trooper" beer, the beer was developed by Bruce Dickinson who is a real ale enthusiast and as a result developed a beer which has true depth of character. Malt flavors
and citric notes from a unique blend of Bobec, Goldings and Cascade
hops dominate this deep golden ale with a subtle hint of lemon.
Here is some NEW information about the "Trooper Beer":
- SHIPPING COSTS:
8 x 500ml glass bottles of
beer weighs 7.3kg, so it was never going to be cheap to ship! Why not
club together with a couple of friends and get 2 cases shipped for the same
cost as shipping 1? Postage is weird like that. And just so you know -
we don’t make any profit on the shipping costs and we pack your beer
extremely well to make sure it gets to you in one piece.
- CAN’T I GET IT IN THE SHOPS?
We are working very hard to get Trooper into shops and pubs so you can
avoid the shipping costs of ordering direct. We will of course be
letting you know where and when you can buy it (please note that it
isn’t released until May 9th) so if you’d rather wait and avoid paying
for postage, you can do that.
- WHEN IS IT COMING TO... ?
At
risk of repeating ourselves... yes we are working on worldwide
distribution! As soon as Trooper is available in your country, we will
be letting you know.
In other IRON MAIDEN news, the band will make a brief return to the USA this September, playing
seven specially selected shows en-route to Latin America where they
will once again headline at the legendary Rock In Rio Festival, Brazil,
on September 22, their show there having recently sold out to 70,000 fans in just a couple of hours! Iron Maiden's tour dates available HERE!
Recently, MACHINE HEAD announced that their bassist Adam Duce is no longer part of the Bay Area Thrash Metallers. Robb Flynn and the boys are currently holding auditions for a fill in bassist as they partake at these years Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. Here is an update from the band regarding their search for their NEW bassist: "Machine Head would like to thank all of the people who have submitted YouTube clips so far, we want you all to know that we’ve watched all of your videos, and while there may not have been an initial confirmation/reply that your video was received, we have been going through each of the many submissions one-by-one. We will continue taking submissions until next Friday, April 19th, at which point we will stop accepting submissions, select candidates and begin tryouts.
"If you want to submit your clips but have not yet done so, make sure you do before next Friday. Videos can be set to private with the only allowed viewer set to the audition e-mail address (MHBassAuditions@gmail.com), should you choose.
"Remember, you are being asked to play bass AND sing. Anyone who is not also singing in their clips will unfortunately have to be overlooked, so if you’re going through the instrumental effort, give the singing a shot!
"Thanks to everyone for all of the submissions so far, your time and effort is sincerely appreciated."

Finland's Heavy Metal machines CHILDREN OF BODOM are currently tracking their ninth studio album, the follow up to 2011's 'Relentless Reckless Forever'. Here is an update that the bands drummer has just released regarding the tracking of the album:
"Yo!
"Today we had the last rehearsals before entering the studio tomorrow to record drums for the new album.
"Last two days have been quite intensive. Playing the songs over and over again, lots of fuck ups and broken drum sticks, sweating, frustration, coffee and what have you, a little bit of arranging and all that shit.
"I am convinced that the new songs are great. A little bit of black metal, heavy metal, metal, old school death metal, melodies, solos and anything you need to make a nice album. And the most important, new ideas à la COB!
"Stay tuned, studio reports will follow.
"Now I think I am ready for a beer!
"KIPPIS !!"
- Jaska
As previously announced, the band has announced that
they will not able to perform at Tuska Festival next year. The annual
festival is set to take place June 28-30, 2013 in Suvilahti, Helsinki,
Finland. The reason? Well, the band is scheduled to appear on a "big
tour" in the United States. We think the band might be part of next
year's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. As we all know, Mayhem
Fest is the biggest Heavy Metal tour and it usually kicks off in late
June.
Here is what the bands bassist Henkka Seppälä had
to say: "We've been waiting to play Tuska for some years now. It is our
home festival after all. Unfortunately, this year we have to sacrifice a
couple of festivals in Europe in order to be able to be part of a big
tour in USA. These are not easy nor nice decisions. We only can hope we
can do Tuska in the near future again.
"Please stay
tuned for our schedules for summer 2013. Fortunately, we are able to
play shows in Europe as well. Looking forward!"
As previously reported, CHILDREN OF BODOM have inked a worldwide recording
deal (excluding Japan) with Nuclear Blast Records. The celebrated Metal
label -- who worked with the band over the early stages of its career --
is proud to announce the renewed partnership with the world famous
band. Read the bands statement HERE!
Stay tuned for more updates on the NEW CHILDREN OF BODOM record!
Chicago Death Metallers BROKEN HOPE have now issued a band and album update! Read on for the latest news, straight from the band themselves:
"We want to give you all a quick BROKEN HOPE update before the New Year, and we have some exciting news! First, congratulations to BROKEN HOPE's own Shaun Glass on the birth of his first child: Maddux Burton Glass, born Dec 17, 2012. Maddux enters the world just before Christmas and just as BROKEN HOPE is writing the NEW album!
"Speaking of the NEW album, we can officially say that we've written 11 songs so far-- and are still trucking along with more material. The NEW material is so ferocious, we jokingly sum up the vibe of the NEW music as 'Reign In Bowels' because it's like someone took SLAYER's 'Reign In Blood' and mated that intensity and horror with the extremity and sickness of BROKEN HOPE's 'Bowels of Repugnance' album... It's insanely heavy and unrelenting! That said, here's a couple song titles we can release to you all-- chew on these: 'The Flesh Mechanic' and 'Give Me the Bottom Half.' We can't wait for you to hear 'em all! Happy Holidays everyone!" -- BROKEN HOPE
BROKEN HOPE was formed in 1988 by Jeremy Wagner, while he was in high school. Shortly after formation, they recorded two demo tapes and signed with indie label, Grind-Core Records. Then in 1991, they released their debut album, 'Swamped In Gore', launching the band out of the underground and into the mainstream. From there, the band signed to Metal Blade Records and released three more albums, all stellar examples of BROKEN HOPE's fury, which etched their place in Death Metal history.
After BROKEN HOPE's last album (1999's Grotesque Blessings) and world tours, Wagner cleaned house and put BROKEN HOPE into "Metal hibernation" in 2000. On January 20, 2010, original BROKEN HOPE vocalist Joe Ptacek tragically committed suicide. He was only 37 years old. Before his death, Ptacek met with Wagner and Shaun Glass and discussed the resurrection of BROKEN HOPE. With Ptacek's death, Wagner and Glass took time off to reconsider their next moves.
In 2012, BH signed with Hard Impact Management and vowed to make BH a full-time monster-- forever. Wagner and Glass recruited longtime friend and GORGASM vocalist, Damian Leski, as their new vocalist, and shortly after marked their return on the highly successful Carnival of Death tour. BH's high-intensity COD concerts received top-praise, and confirmed BH was back, and more rabid than ever. BH is currently booked for the 2013 editions of Extremefest (Germany) and Maryland Death Fest.
BROKEN HOPE's first decade was filled with non-stop writing, touring, and constant visibility. The next chapter in their career will be much the same.

Baroness's John Baizley and Pete Adams share an acoustic performance of "Stretchmarker" via their website. The clip, recorded in Baizley's Philadelphia art studio, marks the first performance the band members have shared since their horrific bus accident in August.
"Simply put: it's time to get back to it. Since my belated and thankful return to the USA (after our painful test in motor coach-aeronautics) I can definitively say I've exhausted my reserve of potential leisure activities (there's not that many of them, after all)." explained Baizley. "I've come dreadfully close to boredom, and in those moments I can't help but focus on my glaring physical infirmities. Television offers little respite from this relative stasis; I'm sure by now I have sampled every biker-meth-dealer-zombie-low-talking-cop-crime-scene-serial-killer-real-housewife soap opera that is currently being broadcast (and there's no small number of them). I've tried to fill my weekly routine with as much physical therapy as possible but the truth is, PT is not fun, and its benefits come with a great deal of mental/physical/spiritual pain and struggle. Furthermore, I believe I am getting a touch of Stockholm Syndrome when it comes to my doctors and therapists (the highlight of my week should NOT involve a clinic). Music might be the best therapy I have right now. Perhaps it's both the cause and the cure (the thought has crossed my mind); but I feel lost without it. Pete and I have just spent a long week surveying our musical wreckage and, surprisingly, we are quite well and intact. Sure, there are some substantial obstacles to overcome before we write, record or perform any time soon; but we still have everything we need to get 'back in' that particular 'saddle again.' Most of my peers are familiar with such high-school-gym-teacher poeticisms as 'risk equals reward' and 'no pain, no gain;' but did any of us every really believe there was any real wisdom in those adolescent platitudes? I didn't. I am, however, starting to understand the essence of these and many of our other favorite clichés.
"As odd as it might be for me to write these 'updates' after 10 years of personal silence on the internet, I feel that I owe everyone who's voiced or given their support to Baroness a brief synopsis of our situation and more importantly a heartfelt thanks. Honestly, it has made this ordeal much easier on me. What little publicity that surrounds our crash has given voice to so many people who have shared their own stories of injury, trauma and struggle with us, and has furthered my own faith in the communicative and universal strength of music. As every singer on every stage has nightly said, 'we wouldn't be where we are without you.' Thanks everyone. We look forward to seeing you soon. Here's a short clip of a song we wrote."
'Yellow & Green', Baroness's breakthrough double album, has garnered enormous praise on various best of and year-end lists worldwide including reigning over Spin's "20 Best Metal Albums of 2012," iTunes awarding "Take My Bones Away" the distinction of the best metal song of the year, Metal Hammer Germany placing the release at #2 on their year-end list and BBC Music describing the album as a "nearly flawless collection" while giving Yellow & Green the #13 spot in their Top 25 albums of 2012. The 18-track record also landed on year-end lists from Amazon (#46), Close Up Sweden (#4), Decibel (#2), Guitar World (#15), Loudwire (#4), Magnet (#12), Metal Hammer Norway (#4), Metal Hammer UK (#14), Paste (#47), Pitchfork (#27), PopMatters (#4), Revolver (#4), Stereogum (#18), Terrorizer (#2), Treble (#2), Village Voice (#6) and Visions Germany (#4).
Baizley recently did a number of interviews where he discussed Baroness's upcoming plans, telling Decibel Magazine: "I have no doubt that within six months, we'll be playing shows again."
Limited quantities of the 'Yellow & Green' Deluxe 2xLP Hardbound Book Vinyl edition from the band's personal collection are available via Baroness's website (www.baronessmusic.com) with all proceeds going directly to the band.
Dino Cazares, the riffmanufacturer, has issued the following update regarding the future of DIVINE HERESY:
"Hello, DIVINE HERESY fans. I just wanted to give you the latest news on DIVINE HERESY. 'Cause there are a lot of rumors out there on whats going on with DIVINE HERESY (HERE is what Tim Yeung told us). Well, only I can give you the truth.
"I have five songs written for the new CD. It's technical, brutal and melodic. Everything you would want from a DIVINE HERESY CD.
"I'm currently on tour with FEAR FACTORY
for the rest of 2012 And part of 2013. When I'm off, I will complete
the writing process and I will let you know who will be performing on
the new CD.
"I am currently shopping for a new record company and have some surprising offers."
Bassist Joe Payne quit DIVINE HERESY in January 2011. Drummer Tim Yeung, who has been recording and touring with MORBID ANGEL for the past couple of years, is no longer a member of DIVINE HERESY. DIVINE HERESY frontman Travis Neal recently joined DIRGE WITHIN as the replacement for Jeremy "Jerms" Genske.
BARONESS, in a letter to their fans, have issued their first post-accident update since August. The four band members and five person crew suffered a variety of injuries in the harrowing August 15 accident which saw the band's bus plummet 30 feet down off of a viaduct outside of Bath, England. The East Coast-based band were in the final week of an extensive European tour following the release of their critically-acclaimed double album, 'Yellow & Green'.
Singer/guitar player John Baizley broke his left arm and leg, drummer Allen Blickle and Matt Maggioni each suffered fractured vertebrae while guitar player Pete Adams was treated for minor injuries.
Baroness previously announced all remaining 2012 tour dates are cancelled.
Here is the letter that the band wrote for their fans to be on the loop on the present and the future of the band:
On August 15th, just before 11 am, Baroness and our crew were involved in a very bad crash while on tour. The brakes in our bus failed completely, on a notoriously dangerous, incredibly steep (12% grade) hill in Monkton Combe, UK, on our way from a show Bristol to another show in Southampton. Our bus went entirely out of control, and we had no choice other than hitting a perpendicular guardrail going about 50 mph at the bottom of the hill. The guard rail and the 20 or 30 trees we ploughed through snapped like matchsticks as we went fully airborne and fell down more than 30 feet off of a viaduct to the ground below. Half of the band/crew were asleep while we lost our brakes, and a few of us were awake and sitting in the rear lounge. I was up front with our driver, and I bore witness to the entire thing. Once our brakes failed, the bus could do little more than gain momentum and plummet down the hill. There was nothing anyone on the bus could have done during our descent to avoid the crash, and no one, the local residents, the police or any of us can believe we survived the impact.
Most people who have been in accidents understand the pre-trauma sensation of time slowing down. There were almost two minutes during which I knew we were heading for a collision. It felt like two hours. I remember the sound of the air-brakes failing, and the panicked cursing of our driver as we slowly realized how desperate the situation was. I tried as hard as I could to yell and wake everyone up to prepare for impact. I remember the sounds of confusion from behind me as our collective terror rose. I remember seeing the guardrail split, then a cluster of trees smacking against the front windshield. While we were airborne my eyes met with our driver’s. I knew then that we each shared the same look on our face; and I won’t soon forget it. We had spent enough time in the air to appreciate, make peace with and accept a fate we thought inevitable, and we looked at one another with a horribly silent “goodbye” in our eyes.
When the bus hit the ground, I flew like a missile into the windshield. I can still see the double-paned auto glass turning blue and the spider-webbing cracks spreading outwards from the impact my body made. I hit the glass so hard, that the entire windshield flew from the frame to the ground, and I bounced back inside the bus. I landed on the ledge of the windshield. This came with an immediate and overwhelming pain throughout my body. I surveyed the damage to see instantly that my left leg was very obviously and badly broken. Then I lifted my arms forward to see if either had been damaged. My right arm was covered in burns, blood and broken glass, but working well enough. My left arm was crushed beyond belief, broken in the middle of the bone in my upper arm (humerus), and hanging 90 degrees backwar ds, with many spurs of bone poking through muscles and sinew at the surface of my skin. The bone was shattered into seven free-floating pieces, and my wrist and hand were swinging behind my back, spasming freely. Instinctively, I reached behind my back, grabbed my wrist and re-broke my arm forwards, hugging it to my chest, where it remained for the next three hours until it was cast in plaster. Meanwhile, I watched as some of the band was able to get off the bus and help the others, many of whom were broken-up as well, and several of whom were unconscious. There was blood, glass and diesel fuel everywhere.
We were all rushed to the hospital in Bath, and treated for our various injuries, broken arms, legs, vertebrae, bruises, cuts, etc. Our driver was air lifted to a separate hospital with many breaks as well. A few of us had to remain in the hospital for a few days, I was hospitalized for two weeks, following an eight-hour surgery in which my arm was rebuilt with the aid of 2 massive titanium plates, 20 screws and a foot-and-a-half of wire. The 15″ incision took almost 50 staples to close up. I was left completely immobilized for the remainder of my hospital stay, able to do next-to-nothing on my own and in need of constant care. Following those excruciating first two weeks, I was quite literally stuck in an apartment for another three weeks with my family while waiting for my doctor to allow me to safely board an airplane, for fear of bloodclots and swelling. I have just this past week returned back to the US and my home, where I am wheelchair-bound for another several weeks of physical therapy, learning to use my arm and leg again.
While I cannot lift a glass of water to my lips to drink with my left arm and hand, I am still able to play music with it. I picked up a guitar and played the day after I returned. Not without pain (for the time being), but the hand still acts out the creative impulses I give it. I’m told I was quite lucky to have regained any use at all of my hand and arm, though I have sustained quite extensive nerve damage. In spite of this and against my logic and reason, when I pick up an instrument, my hand remembers exactly what to do. It’s far from perfect, and will require a lot of therapy in order to recover mobility and strength, but I am encouraged by the ability I have been allowed. I do not believe in superstitious signs, but I am truly overwhelmed to have been granted the continued use of my hands.
As a result of the crash, I feel encouraged not only to recover, but to move forward with Baroness, as we had been doing every day previous to August 15th. This accident has inflicted an injury which has left its mark on the band: physically, mentally and spiritually. In order to rehabilitate ourselves fully, we must work towards and then past the goals we had prior to the accident. I will consider our immediate recovery a success only on the day we plug back in to play another show.
We cannot allow this accident, which I believe is unrelated to the band or our music, to slow down or stifle what has become so much more than a passionate hobby for the four of us. Through Baroness, we have discovered a method by which we may harness our drive to create, and channel all the emotion, anxiety and pain in our lives into something constructive. Music is the universal means of communication we have chosen to express ourselves. Our message has never been one of the absolute positive or negative, neither black nor white. True life occurs within the shades of grey, and I see this experience form that perspective. It seems only fitting to me that we continue working towards creating and performing again as soon as possible, as this band and its music are the vehicle through which we grow as individuals, artists and brothers. The injury the band suffered is an injury to my family and loved ones. Rather than allow it to become a wedge that forces us apart, I would like to see this experience become part of the glue that strengthens us. We have only begun to accomplish what we set out to do through this band. There is so much more to say, and though we do need to heal up a bit; we will not allow any of those things to be left unsaid.
I have no regrets about touring. I don’t blame music or the touring lifestyle for my current physical state, or for the accident itself. It happened the same way all things happen: randomly. If I was a carpenter, and I was injured on the way to the job-site, I wouldn’t consider quitting my job. That is truly how I see this situation. Baroness doesn’t stop because we got hurt on the way to work. We love what we do much more than that, and we have chosen this path because it offers us an unpredictable adventure. With any adventure that involves travel, and with any real passionate pursuit, one will occasionally come face-to-face with the reality of living on the other side of the yellow line. I didn’t choose to be a musician in order to live a risk-free life, safely avoiding bumps and bruises. I didn’t choose to play music because it seemed like a simple opportunity to make some quick cash. Nor did I ever make the assumption that things would get easier as we progressed.
We can do nothing but attempt to make something constructive and beautiful out of all this disaster, and we are well on the way to becoming active again. I have used this time, stuck inside my own head, to consider the importance of music and Baroness in my life. I can say, after nearly 6 weeks of reflection, that I feel more resolute and passionate about our music than ever. I have come to realize the importance of time in this particular equation, that is, I have none to waste and none to spare. There is no better moment than now, broken and in physical stasis, to devote ourselves more fully towards our art than ever. We cannot allow the traumatic fallout of our crash to cripple us internally. It seems simple: the shows we have cancelled we will reschedule and play in the future. It isn’t going to happen next week nor will it be next month. But it will happen. We will be back on tour as soon as we possibly can.
There was one moment in the crash that cut me deeply. For one heartbeat and one tiny sliver of time, I became disconnected entirely. It was, specifically, the moment I impacted with the glass. In that barest heartbeat of a moment, I came face to face with the infinite. I didn’t see a light, or the tunnel or hear any music. Nor did I get a “best-of” montage of my life. Instead, I felt the tip of my nose brush up against the very same fate I had accepted moments before. I looked into a cold, unreflective mirror. It was the dark, silent, dispassionate logic of the end. I realized in that moment that life can be seen as a light switch: “on” or “off”. When the moment passed and I heard the screaming, felt the pain, and tasted my own blood, I was overcome with joy. I was ecstatic to be back amidst all that chaos and horror because it was alive and real. I finally glimpsed the relative importance of all things. The support of our fans, our friends and our families has real meaning to me now. I say that now honestly, without false humility. Thank you. Everyone.

HATEBREED has been heavily involved in the Heavy Music scene since 1994 and have broken many sound barriers. Love them or hate them, you have to respect their hard work and perseverance.
You heard it here first in mid April, but now the details have been revealed for HATEBREED's upcoming “10 Years of Perseverance” fall tour, a United States headline tour to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the band’s ground-breaking 2002 major-label debut, 'Perseverance'. The tour features direct support from Whitechapel and special guests All Shall Perish and Deez Nuts, and kicks off on September 13th in Clifton Park, NY.
'Perseverance' is recognized worldwide as a landmark album in HATEBREED’s musical catalog—an album that skyrocketed the band to immediate leader-of-the-pack status after its release. Released on March 26, 2002, the band’s second full-length studio album blasted open the doors of American DIY Hardcore in mainstream culture with songs such as "I Will Be Heard", "A Call For Blood" and the album's title track, "Perseverance". Since the release of 'Perseverance', the fusion of Hardcore and Metal has been emulated and evolved relentlessly, but never duplicated with the same originality and brutality that HATEBREED accomplished with their first major-label release.
Perseverance debuted within the top 50 of the Billboard Top 200 chart and has since gone on to sell roughly half a million copies worldwide.

HATEBREED recently announced that they are in the studio self-producing their upcoming full-length album with co-producer assistance from world-renowned Metal producers Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Avenged Sevenfold, Gojira) and Chris “Zeuss” Harris (Suicide Silence, All That Remains, Shadows Fall).
The band just reported that they have finished the drum tracks. When asked about the recording process, drummer Matt Byrne said, “I got the biggest and best drum tone ever for this NEW album and Zeuss really helped me dial in the sound. Detroit, MI’s self-touted “blue collar Thrashers” BATTLECROSS are gearing up to lay waste to the states on this summer’s TRESPASS AMERICA festival. The festival kicks off in one month on July 13, 2012 in Broomfield, CO and features headliners Five Finger Death Punch, as well as the reunited original line-up of Killswitch Engage. The TRESPASS AMERICA Festival also features Trivium, Emmure, Pop Evil, and God Forbid. The anticipation is building; get your tickets now before they are sold out (link below).
Due to the insane buzz around BATTLECROSS and their unique take on modern Thrash Metal, the band has been added to this year’s HEAVY MTL festival in Montreal, QC. To learn more about the festival and to read about this year’s line-up, please visit HeavyMtl.com.
BATTLECROSS has come a long way since their recent signing with Metal Blade Records and their release of their debut 'Pursuit of Honor' in August 2011. Since its release, the single "Push Pull Destroy" was the #1 Most Requested Metal Track for five weeks (Sirius XM Liquid Metal Devil's Dozen), remains a stable on the Liquid Metal channel, and the track's video has racked up over 700,000 YouTube views in the last five months. BATTLECROSS has received killer reviews across the internet and in print publications throughout North America and overseas and was named “Band of the Month” in Metal Hammer Norway and Metal Hammer Spain, so it should be no surprise that this blue collar, hard-work ethic that comes from the band's five musicians - Kyle "Gumby" Gunther/vocals, Tony Asta/guitar, Hiran Deraniyagala/guitar, Mike Kreger/drums, Don Slater/bass - translates into a potent force on record as well as on stage. BATTLECROSS is also confirmed to sail the seas with the first annual MAYHEM FESTIVAL Cruise this December 7-10.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, June 8th. In addition, an exclusive pre-sale will begin on Wednesday, June 6th. HATEBREED will also be offering an exclusive VIP Diehard Package that includes a Meet and Greet, Commemorative Diehard Laminate, Poster and more! Make sure to head over to www.hatebreed.com/VIP for all ticketing and VIP Diehard details.
