In Flames - Video Premiere Of 'Where The Dead Ships Dwell'

When Swedish Metal icons In Flames released latest album entitled "Sounds of a Playground Fading" June, 15 via Century Media, the expectations were very high. The band exceeded all expectations, which is nothing new for a band that is constantly reinventing their sound while still keeping their signature sound intact. The bands 10th studio album features 13 new songs that were recorded at IF Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden and produced by their singer Anders Friden and Roberto Laghi. After the departure of their guitarist Jesper Strömblad on February of 2010 due to personal reasons and health problems, the band decided that they would work on their new album as a four piece.

Next month, In Flames will be releasing the digital single for "Where The Dead Ships Dwell". The release will feature three different remixes with versions by German rapper Casper, drum-and-bass act The Quemists and Kristof Bathory (singer of Dawn Of Ashes). This is what In Flames' frontman Anders Fridén had to say about this upcoming release.

"The songs have already been made and the originals are as good as they can be, but what if I give them to an artist from a whole different genre, what would be there take on it? I love collaborations like this and all the artists we worked with have done an awesome job. It's not meant to be taken dead serious and it's not how In Flames is gonna sound next, but I love it and I hope you'll enjoy a twist to the formula."

Without further due, here is In Flames' brand new video for their song "Where The Dead Ships Dwell". The band once again lined up director Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company, who has previously worked with Dimmu Borgir, Lacuna Coil, Sonic Syndicate and Kamelot, among others.

In Flames Discuss Evolution of Latest Album & Perseverance!

For over 20 years the members of In Flames have been on a constant musical evolution, in which they have pushed the boundaries of the Gothenburg Swedish Melodic Death Metal scene to the limit. While some may say that the band has experimented way too much with their sound, the reality is that In Flames have always stood out for making sure that every record they release is a different chapter of the In Flames book. With the release of their 10th studio album titled "Sounds of a Playground Fading" on June 15 via Century Media, the band once again is proving that they do not like playing it safe.

As most of you probably know, In Flames had to pull out from their current run at the Rockstar Energy Mayhem festival due to a family emergency (click here for the Official Press Release). Luckily, we were able to see the band perform at the Mayhem Festival in Hartford, Connecticut, and to interview bassist Peter Iwers about their new album and how they have managed to persevere for so many years. We wish In Flames the best of luck!

"We always try to create music from a fans point of view. By fans, I mean us. We like to step out of the music as if somebody else wrote it. And when we do that, and when we like it... that's the key. We have tons of influences! A lot of artists in bands stay within their own genre to try to find influences, but we get it from everywhere! We incorporate that into our own music with no limits and try to do something fresh every time." - Peter Iwers (In Flames)
