Heavy Music history was written on Thursday, May 2 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, CA. Not only did the Revolver Golden Gods Awards welcome the elite of the music we all love, but the energy inside the sold out venue was incomparable. Here is a scoop of who won what, and who performed with whom.

ICED EARTH Announce Lineup Changes!

This just in: ICED EARTH have announced that they have parted ways with drummer Brent Smedley for "personal family reasons." His replacement, Raphael Saini (CHAOSWAVE), will join the group on the road starting this summer.

"I have family members that are elderly and frail and need my help here in Jacksonville. It's been one of the hardest decisions of my life but I simply cannot commit to the kind of schedule the band deserves and requires so I decided to ask permission to step down from my post." - Brent Smedley

"Brent has been a valued member of the group for a long time. We thank him for his contributions, friendship and energy and wish him all the best for the future. We want to welcome Raphael with open arms and are expecting for our fans to give him the welcome he deserves." - Iced Earth

Cam Pipes from 3 INCHES OF BLOOD recently shared his top 5 tips for being on the road with Digitaltourbus.com. Here a few of those very useful tips:


- The most important thing for touring is being in a band with people you can tolerate to be around. You might have the most amazing musician on a given instrument, but if they are an asshole then your touring life is going to be hell. 99% of touring happens off stage so you need to be able to hang out with like-minded people. If you’ve never toured before, try doing something small like a week or two. You may have done tons of shows in your hometown but nothing will test your band’s limits like the dynamics of touring.

- Know your place and be respectful. On tour there is a pecking order. Obey the headliner’s techs and stage manager. Do not eat any catering until you get the ok from the headliner’s tour manager. Do not go into the other bands dressing rooms without permission and under no circumstances do you take ANYTHING on their rider without prior consent. Bands above you got there for a reason, either because they caught a break and got some fast tracked success or they did it the old fashioned way and slugged it out building their fan base over time. Either way, they draw more people than you and you need to recognize that. The less greenhorn tendencies you show the better impressions you will leave on other bands and their crew and that will result in getting other tour opportunities in the future.

ICED EARTH Announce Massive European Tour - Details Available!

Does ICED EARTH ever stop? Hell no! Following the completion of their 11th studio album, which is penciled in for release towards the end of 2013. The Tampa, Florida outfit will begin their planned 18-month journey will start on January of 2014 in Germany.

Mainman Jon Schaffer says: "We are ready to enter the steel pirate ship that is our tour bus and spend another 18 months traveling the world. We look forward to reaching even more people and bringing Iced Earth to many new territories on this next massive world tour.
 
"We have a very exciting and groundbreaking schedule planned and we will be bringing the Metal to the masses big time. This is what we do!"

TERROR Premiere Video For "The Most High" - Bonus Track Available!

Hardcore icons TERROR have unleashed their NEW music video for their song called "The Most High". You can watch it below, courtesy of Loudwire.  

The band, who recently joined Victory Records will release their sixth studio album 'Live By The Code' this Tuesday, April 9. The band vocalist and frontman Scott Vogel claims that 'Live By The Code' “hits harder than 'Keepers Of The Faith'”, calling it the “dirtiest, rawest and most Hardcore record we’ve done since 'Lowest Of The Low'”.

INTRONAUT To Embark On N. American Tour With Some Very Special Guests!

THE CROWN Begins Tracking NEW Album; Japanese Tour Announced!

After many months of writing and rehearsing songs for their next sonic assault, THE CROWN have published the following statement regarding the recording process for the follow-up to the band's critically acclaimed album, 'Doomsday King' (2010):

"A lot of things are happening with THE CROWN at this very moment. We are in the middle of recording a true masterpiece. Marko is more or less done with his rhythm guitar work and Magnus has started with the bass stuff. He recorded a bass track for one song today before we all got together and filmed a small 'jingle' for our Japanese friends. Only three months until we hit Japan for the very first time. We are extremely excited about this. Hopefully we'll see YOU there.  

"Last but not least, we are very proud to announce our NEW lineup. Yes, we have a new member in the band. His name is Robin Sörqvist and he fits the band more than perfectly. ICED EARTH Reveal Trailer & Release Date For 'Live In Ancient Kourion'!

Since 'Dystopia' was released in October of 2011, ICED EARTH has been on the attack in a big way, playing more shows in the past year than in the previous ten years... combined!

ICED EARTH main man Jon Schaffer: “I feel this is a testament to a NEW beginning, a NEW energy and a rock solid determination that will see us taking the music of ICED EARTH to every corner of the globe; spreading the awareness of our brand of Metal in a way that hasn’t been done before. When ICED EARTH performed on August 19 at the ancient Kourion Amphitheater, outside Limassol in Cyprus, the high def cameras and audio recorders were rolling for what became the bands NEW upcoming CD/DVD entitled 'Live In Ancient Kourion'. The concert featured1,500 fans who witnessed a three hour long concert and featured on-stage scenery and artwork that was uniquely created for this special event. Legendary producer Jim Morris of Morrisound Studios (ICED EARTH, SEPULTURA, MORBID ANGEL, DEATH, SAVATAGE) supervised the entire audio section with the help of the ToneDeaf Recording Studio. 
  
'Live In Ancient Kourion' will hit stores on April 15th (USA April 16th), 2013! This incredibly powerful package will come to you in various configurations and, a first for CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS, also on Blu-Ray disk! The Limited Edition Deluxe Book features the main show and a plethora of bonus content on DVD and a Blu-Ray Disc, as well as the entire concert on a 2 CD set (4 discs in total!). You can also enjoy the audio version of the full concert in a 3 LP gatefold Vinyl package or as a 2 CD set. A standard DVD and Digital Audio Download will also be available.

WARBRINGER Announce Special Celebratory Shows For 'War Without End'

Thrash stalwarts WARBRINGER have announced four shows over Memorial Day weekend to commemorate the 5th year anniversary of their debut album, 'War Without End'-- and as a special bonus for Los Angeles and San Francisco fans, the band will also perform the album in its entirety at these shows! In regards to these upcoming dates, frontman John Kevill comments:

"We have been busy writing songs for our new album, so it's been awhile since we've played any shows. We're doing something a little different at the LA and San Francisco gigs -- since it's been 5 years since the first album, 'War Without End,' was released -- we are gonna play the whole album at those shows, which includes a lot of songs we haven't played in 4 or so years. We're gonna absolutely rip through these tunes as fast and as hard as possible. See you guys out there! More Warbringer news coming soon, keep your eyes peeled.
