UPON A BURNING BODY Discuss Their Mayhem Fest Experience + NEW Album 'Red,White & Green'!

On Sunday, August 5th, the fifth edition of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival came to a conclusion in Hartford, Connecticut. As it is typical, the New England Metallers know how to have a good time and never let anything (especially bad weather) get in the way of their appointment with Heavy Music. It was really cool to see so many generations of music both on and off stage, gathered together in unity! This is ultimately what Mayhem Fest represents.

One of the bands that benefited from the multi-aged festival was UPON A BURNING BODY from San Antonio, Texas. Not only did the band bring the ruckus to both the Jägermeister and Sumerian Records stages, but they demonstrated that Metalheads can dress well and still hit the crowd with hard hitting songs. With the release of their NEW album 'Red, White & Green' (available now via Sumerian Records), UPON A BURNING BODY is ready to keep taking the Heavy Music world by storm!

Upon A Burning Body's set list for the last Mayhem Fest:

1) Showtime
2) Carlito's Way
3) Texas Blood Money
4) Sin City
5) Game Over
6) Once Upon A Time In Mexico
7) Intermission

Right before UPON A BURNING BODY performed their last set of this year's Mayhem Fest, we had the chance to chat with vocalist  Danny Leal and bassist Ruben Lemos about the bands NEW studio album, their experience at the fest and what the future holds for this hard hitting band! Watch it here!

ASKING ALEXANDRIA's Danny Worsnop Talks About Sobering Up, "Mayhem Fest", NEW Music & More!

Last Sunday (August 5th), the fifth edition of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival came to a conclusion in Hartford, Connecticut. As it is typical, the New England Metallers know how to have a good time and never let anything (especially bad weather) get in the way of their appointment with Heavy Music. It was really cool to see so many generations of music both on and off stage, gathered together in unity! This is ultimately what Mayhem Fest represents.

Ever since their inception in 2008, British Metalcorers ASKING ALEXANDRIA have been taking names day after day, town after town. While their debut album 'Stand Up and Scream' made their presence be felt within the Heavy Music world, it was their 2011 release 'Reckless & Relentless' that took the bad boys of Rock into the next level of success.

After touring with bands like GUNS N' ROSES and SKID ROW, ASKING ALEXANDRIA have proven to be ready to perform at bigger better shows. This is why the organizers of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival personally requested to have the band open the main stage for SLIPKNOT, SLAYER and MOTORHEAD at this years festivities.

ASKING ALEXANDRIA's set list for the last Mayhem Fest:

1) Welcome
2) Closure
3) Breathless
4) A Lesson Never Learned
5) To The Stage
6) Dear Insanity
7) Morte et Dabo

Right before ASKING ALEXANDRIA opened the main stage one last time at this year's Mayhem Fest, we had the chance to chat with vocalist Danny Worsnop about the bands experience at the fest. We also discussed how he has managed to overcome his addiction to drugs and the bands future plans.

ANTHRAX: Joey Belladonna Talks About "Mayhem Fest", 'Worship Music' & The Unity Of The Band!

Last Sunday (August 5th), the fifth edition of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival came to a conclusion in Hartford, Connecticut. As it is typical, the New England Metallers know how to have a good time and never let anything (specially bad weather) get in the way of their appointment with Heavy Music. It was really cool to see so many generations of music both on and off stage, gathered together in unity! This is ultimately what Mayhem Fest represents.

Headlining the Jägermeister stage was New York's own ANTHRAX, who were introduced by SLIPKNOT's singer Corey Taylor. Taylor also joined the band during their last song "I Am The Law".

ANTHRAX's set list for the last "Mayhem Fest" show in Hartford, CT:

1) Caught In A Mosh
2) Got The Time (Joe Jackson Cover)
3) Fight 'Em Till You Can't
4) Antisocial (Trust Cover)
5) Indians
6) I Am The Law (starring: Corey Taylor from SLIPKNOT)

Ever since the return of Joey Belladonna to ANTHRAX, the band has finally found the revitalization they desperately needed. Prove of this is the bands first release in eight years: the magnificent album 'Worship Music' (considered the best album of 2011 by various media outlets). Add this to the extensive touring cycle that the band has been undergone ever since the summer of 2011 and ANTHRAX is finally catching a "break".

One factor that has helped ANTHRAX as a band, is the fact that working with Joey has brought back the vibes and sounds of 1990's 'Persistence of Time'. It is safe to say that Joey's signature harmonies, combined with the excellent guitar riffs of Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano, and great grooves by Charlie Benante and Frankie Bello, make ANTHRAX a lethal band within the Heavy Music world!

Prior to ANTHRAX's last set at "Mayhem Fest", we had the chance to chat with Joey about the bands experience at the festival, their latest album 'Worship Music', the unity of the band and everything ANTHRAX. Check it out and spread the word!

No Storm Can Stop The MAYHEM When SLIPKNOT, SLAYER & MOTÖRHEAD Have Something Loud To Say About It!

This past Sunday (August 5th), the fifth edition of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival came to a conclusion in Hartford, Connecticut. As it is typical, the New England Metallers know how to have a good time and never let anything (specially bad weather) get in the way of their appointment with Heavy Music. It was really cool to see so many generations of music both on and off stage, gathered together in unity! This is ultimately what Mayhem Fest represents.

When we arrived to the venue around 12:30 PM, a rabid pack of fans was waiting patiently to enter the mayhem and as soon as the gates of the Comcast Theatre (one of the largest amphitheaters in the U.S.), the crowd roared inside and ignited the party!

As it is known already, Mayhem Fest is divided into a two part event: part 1 of the event takes place at the second stages (sponsored this year by: Jägermeister and Sumerian records), while part 2 of the event takes in the main concert pavilion (which holds 30,000 people).

During the first half of the day, the fans get very intimate sets with some of the veterans and rookies of Heavy Music! The action takes place in the second stages, which are constantly rotating artists so that there is always a band playing live (not even a minute of silence). Some of the highlights of the second stages were the performances of ANTHRAX (who used the rain as their fuel for worshiping music), AS I LAY DYING, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA and WHITECHAPEL (who are to blame for starting one of the most intense thunderstorms of the entire festival).

Once ANTHRAX finished their set with their classic song "I Am The Law", which featured SLIPKNOT's singer Corey Taylor on the first chorus, it was time for the fans to grab yet another cold beer and take over the main concert pavilion. This is when we realized how many people were present at the last chapter of this year's Mayhem Fest!

While ASKING ALEXANDRIA has been growing fast and has become a very well known band around the world, they still need a lot more experience in order to handle such a massive audience. Nevertheless, they managed to warm up some ear buds for the legendary Rock N' Roll band MOTÖRHEAD!

Once LEMMY took center stage, the party was definitely on. After all, the infamous frontman is not only known for his rocking skills but he is also an avid fan of Jack Daniel's. Something that really surprised us was to see many attendees sitting down still as if they were watching a Justin Bieber concert. Perhaps is was the generational pulley that we mentioned above?

The MOTÖRHEAD boys rocked through many classic songs like "Ace Of Spades", "Overkill" and "Killed By Death", as well as through a few of their NEW songs from their latest album 'The World Is Yours'!

A few minutes passed 8 PM, the white curtain was brought down and the crowd started going insane. Why? Well, everyone knows that the white curtain is synonymous to SLAYER letting you know that this will be the only peaceful moment you will have for the next hour or so. As soon as they started their epic set, the fans that were stalled during MOTÖRHEAD's set finally came to life and started losing their minds!

Blasting through songs from their massive catalog, the worlds mightiest band had no problem delivering the Metallic goods to thousands of maniacs, who literally lost their minds when songs like "Angel Of Death", "Raining Blood", "Seasons In The Abyss" and "South Of Heaven" were being blasted at full volume... Holy shit, SLAYER is loud!

There are many awesome Heavy Metal bands, but there is only one SLAYER!

Closing the 2012 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival was one of the most evil and theatrical bands today: SLIPKNOT! This is when the crowd went absolutely insane. As we all know, the bands live performances are dangerous and unpredictable. This wasn't an exception at the Comcast Theatre in Hartford, Connecticut.

From the moment the band stepped on stage until they said "good night" one last time at this year's fest, the adrenaline was rushing throughout the entire venue. Security were kept busy by the hundreds of crowd surfers (who lost shows, glasses, wallets, cell phones, and some even lost their minds) and did a phenomenal job at keeping the show rolling smoothly.

For the first time in the many times we have seen SLAYER, there was a band that outperformed them. That band was SLIPKNOT. Was it the fire they have been breathing in since the loss of their bassist Paul Gray? Was it because this was their comeback tour in U.S. soil? We believe it was SLIPKNOT proving that they have plenty of gasoline left for their pyro.

The band performed the following songs:

1: (sic)
2: Eyeless
3: Sulfur
4: Wait and Bleed
5: Before I Forget
6: Disasterpieces
7: Gently
8: Vermilion
9: The Heretic Anthem
10: Psychosocial (dedicated to Paul Gray)
11: Duality (dedicated to Paul Gray)
12: Spit It Out
13: People = Shit
14: Surfacing

Unearth's Trevor Phipps & Buz McGrath Discuss NEW Album & World Tour!

Unearth unleashed their fifth studio album titled "Darkness In the Light" on July 5th in North America via Metal Blade Records, and they proved once again that they sonically have what it takes to keep flying the Heavy Music flag up high with pride and plenty of adrenaline. The band is currently part of the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival and have had no problem at all delivering their famous blend of hard hitting Hardcore Metal to the masses. With "Darkness In the Light" Unearth made it clear that they are not going to kiss ass to the status quo by compromising their sound, image, and vision of disorder.

Recently, the band performed in Hartford, Connecticut, as part of the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival, and we had the chance to catch up with Unearth's vocalist Trevor Phipps and axe man Buzz McGrath right before the band took over center stage at the Jägermeister Stage. During the interviews we discussed their new album, life on the road, and their upcoming World Tour.

"I think this one is furthering our sound sine its more dynamic than our last couple of records. Its got a lot to offer... Its heavy! Its got melodic parts and great guitar work. I think the whole band band brought their A game." - Trevor Phipps

"Have a good time, all the time! I guess is our credo... We get up there, and try to convey the feelings that we have on stage of just having a good time to the people that are at the shows." - Buz McGrath

Without further due, here is our dual interview with Trevor and Buz from Unearth!

In Flames Discuss Evolution of Latest Album & Perseverance!

For over 20 years the members of In Flames have been on a constant musical evolution, in which they have pushed the boundaries of the Gothenburg Swedish Melodic Death Metal scene to the limit. While some may say that the band has experimented way too much with their sound, the reality is that In Flames have always stood out for making sure that every record they release is a different chapter of the In Flames book. With the release of their 10th studio album titled "Sounds of a Playground Fading" on June 15 via Century Media, the band once again is proving that they do not like playing it safe.

As most of you probably know, In Flames had to pull out from their current run at the Rockstar Energy Mayhem festival due to a family emergency (click here for the Official Press Release). Luckily, we were able to see the band perform at the Mayhem Festival in Hartford, Connecticut, and to interview bassist Peter Iwers about their new album and how they have managed to persevere for so many years. We wish In Flames the best of luck!

"We always try to create music from a fans point of view. By fans, I mean us. We like to step out of the music as if somebody else wrote it. And when we do that, and when we like it... that's the key. We have tons of influences! A lot of artists in bands stay within their own genre to try to find influences, but we get it from everywhere! We incorporate that into our own music with no limits and try to do something fresh every time." - Peter Iwers (In Flames)

Megadeth's Shawn Drover Discusses the Big 4 & TH1RT3EN (NEW Album)

For over 25 years Megadeth has been tearing up venues all over the world, and to this day they are one of the best bands in Heavy Music history.
