Guy from THE RED CHORD becomes a Cop, so what is going to happen with the band?
Wow! THE RED CHORD vocalist Guy Kozowyk, has announced that he is now a proud member of the Manchester Police Department!
""
Bummer! This is probably the end of THE RED CHORD as far as touring goes, since by becoming a Police offer you are pretty much committing to a full time job in which you can't just ask for time off to go jamming with your band. They might still record some music here and there. But with the way the Heavy Music world works today, if you go on "hiatus" you become irrelevant very quickly since kids simply move on to the next batch of bands.
We can't blame Kosowyk though. Money is real tight at the moment for mid scale bands like THE RED CHORD, so it makes sense for him to score himself a steady job with benefits and the whole shebang. Whither you agree with his career choice of becoming a Cop or not, we'll leave that up to you.
Note: the bands official website (www.theredchord.com) is not even active anymore.

DAVE GROHL Won't Be Touring With QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE!
Recently, the FOO FIGHTERS announced a hiatus after 18 years of rocking the entire world. HERE is a statement posted by the bands frontman Dave Grohl.
So what is in the Grohl agenda for the rest of this year and in 2013?
Well, Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme revealed to Zane Lowe on his BBC Radio 1 show that Grohl will be drumming for the band on their NEW album! However, Grohl has announced via this interview that he will not be touring with the band. So why will Grohl not be touring with the band? Well, he is very busy with the "Sound City Studios" documentary. Read more HERE.
Grohl drummed on Queens’ 2002 'Songs For The Deaf' and performed alongside Homme and Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones in Them Crooked Vultures. Queens Of The Stone Age play Download 2013. Get your tickets from www.downloadfestival.co.uk.
Grohl told BBC Radio One: "There were no boundaries with that band, there were no limits with them . . . I'll do something so completely ridiculous, I'll just, like, 'There's no way that that Josh is going to let me do that,' and he'll say, 'Do that for forty-five seconds, over and over again, that's become, like, part of the song, that is a big part of the song,' and that's the way they work."

GODSMACK Announce Temporary Hiatus - Statement By Sully Erna Available!
Recently, ARTISTdirect.com editor-in-chief Rick Florino had the chance to chat with GODSMACK's Sully Erna. During the interview, Erna announced that GODSMACK is taking a hiatus in 2013. Check it out:
ARTISTdirect.com: Do you feel like the "Avalon" box set is the best gateway into and overview of your world?
Sully: Yeah, I'm really happy with it. We all just stumbled onto this idea. The more I was doing solo activity, the more I was documenting. At first, we didn't even realize we were capturing what we had. We had a couple of friends, myself, and some of the band filming in the studio while we were recording the record. Later on, when we were trying to make something out of nothing, I handed this editor a big box of tapes and said, "Make some kind of cool, making-of thing." I didn't it was going to be for all of this. That's what triggered this whole thing. It went from finding this really cool making-of the album to tying into the whole theme of music for me. When I was going out on my solo shows, it had "an evening with," "Storytellers" vibe. I fell upon this idea of, "Wow, what a gift music really is." That started triggering all of this stuff. What I started to realize, just from sharing a bottle of wine with somebody, we'd be talking about music and theory and how music is just vibrations. It's just strings vibrating, and yet when they create different frequencies, it creates emotions in people — even without lyrics. You can hear a violin player play something and get teary-eyed. I thought, "This is heavy, man. That really is the power of music. It's a miracle." It's a universal language, and it's almost unexplained. From there, we'd film a live show. All of these different things became components for the box set. We kept building off of that. Once we had the idea of putting this together as a package, we started thinking, "What else can we include?" That's when we came up with the "Golden Ticket" concept. We wanted to personalize it so it's "Sully Erna everything." It's a little bit of a history of me and my life, from how I grew up to what my favorite t-shirts and incenses are. Plus, it's the making-of everything.
ARTISTdirect.com: Does the open the door to the next project?
Sully: Of course! I'm building towards branding my name and freeing up myself to do what I want to do without having a ceiling over my head. As much as I love GODSMACK and my boys in GODSMACK, it really is what it is. Over the years, we've tried to branch out and create songs like "Serenity" and "Shine Down". Even though our audience accepted it and they became successful singles on the radio, they weren't really crossover singles for us. They were kind of saying, "They're cool songs, but when are you guys going to play 'The Enemy' or 'Bad Religion'? Let's get back to the muscle!" [laughs] Over the years, we've identified GODSMACK to be a powerhouse rock band, which it should be, but there's also this other side of me. I can't keep it trapped inside. I have to explore it and release this other kind of music that I love playing. I also love sitting down at the piano with my daughter and creating music and playing acoustically. "Avalon" helped me branch out and allow more vulnerability and things like that. That creates an opportunity to not have a ceiling over my head whether it gets into acting, TV, film, and different things I'd like to pursue. I think it's going to open up that avenue for me. I heard an interview with [AEROSMITH's] Tom Hamilton, and he struck the nail right on the head for me. He said, "I realized music is always something I wanted to do with my life, but it's not everything I wanted to do with my life." I was like, "Boom, there it is right there. That's exactly how I feel. Music is one of those things I wanted to do my whole life, but I also realized that it's not everything I want to do." Even though I think I'll always be a musician and entertain in some way, I may want to tap into some other avenues and continue to brand myself rather than being pigeonholed into a certain genre of music.
ARTISTdirect.com: What's next with GODSMACK?
Sully: We're going to take some time away now because we just ran for the last two years. It's time for us to take a break and get away from the markets for a little bit so we don't overplay them. We're taking 2013 off. Maybe towards the end of the year or early 2014, we may start getting into the studio and writing. Now, we're going to lay low. We may pop up once in a while to do a radio festival or something. I'm going to take all of 2013 to focus on my solo stuff and see any doors I can open along the way.

ARCH ENEMY Announce Temporary Hiatus - Statement From Angela Gossow Available!
ARCH ENEMY's badass vocalist Angela Gossow has issued the following update regarding the bands decision to take a temporary hiatus:
"[The ARCH ENEMY] European tour was awesome!! Lots of people came to the shows. [We are] very, very grateful for this, given the tough economy all around.
"We know how it feels to be broke. Been there many times. But just like you, we rather spend our last penny on music (or gear for that matter) than paying our phone bill. For that matter, I only have a prepaid card and no phone contract ;-) I hate bills and reminders.
"Back home now, recovering from dirty backstage rooms, cold showers and lack of quality sleep.
"I love playing live. [It's] a shame I can't bring my home (or at least my bed and my clean bathroom) on tour though, haha..
"After 12 years of continuous touring, I can tell ya, sometimes I think about stopping for good and route for the homely life instead.
"We got the Latin America tour kicking off in November all the way through December and then we'll stop touring for at least six months. We'll just do a few [European] festivals in the summer, like Wacken :-). Will be interesting how that feels. If I get bored with being 'static?'
"I'll miss playing shows, but I am also excited to finally have some time to myself, actually being able to take up an art class, start drawing again, take some vocal lessons for fun, try new sports (like thai boxing or any sort of angry martial arts, haha), spend quality time with my family, decorate my home with framed pictures, paint the walls.. you know, that stuff 'normal' people do when they are not living like gypsies, always on the move.
"It will be nice not having to do pre-production for a tour in my 'off time' but actually allow my mind to rest and stop worrying about travel arrangements, technical riders, ticket sales, budgets, crew, stage production etc.
"I have noticed I am in an constant 'alarm-state' mentally and I don't relax in my sleep either anymore. I dream about figures and band stuff every night.
"I miss my crazy, funny, light dreams.. and simply being worry-free.
"This said, I wont be lazy. We have a massive new live DVD/Blu-ray in the works and it will take up a real chunk of my time to get that together for an autumn 2013 release. We filmed so many shows.. And we will film even more now during the Latin America tour. We got a ton of incidental footage too.. That will be weeks and weeks of sorting out, editing, cutting, mix and master. Plus we got a new album to write and record in 2013 too. It will drop in spring-ish 2014.
"So yeah.. today I am catching up with three weeks of unanswered postal mail, final tour budget, tax office paperwork and shopping for groceries. I will go for a walk later, take a long bath to soak my sore back and neck and try to go to bed before 6 a.m. as I am not on tour anymore ;-)"
ARCH ENEMY Latin American Tour:
- 21/11/12: Teatro Caupolican, Santiago in Chile
- 23/11/12: Teatro Flores, Buenos Aires in Argentina
- 25/11/12: Carioca Club, Sao Paulo in Brazil
- 27/11/12: Club Platense, Montevideo in Uruguay

FOO FIGHTERS: Dave Grohl Confirms Hiatus - Statement Available!
This just in: The FOO FIGHTERS have announced a hiatus after 18 years of rocking the entire world. Here is a statement posted by the bands frontman Dave Grohl:
Hey everyone...
Dave here. Just wanted to write and thank you all again from the bottom of my heart for another incredible year. (Our 18th, to be exact!) We truly never could have done any of this without you...
Never in my wildest dreams did I think Foo Fighters would make it this far. I never thought we COULD make it this far, to be honest. There were times when I didn't think the band would survive. There were times when I wanted to give up. But... I can't give up this band. And I never will. Because it's not just a band to me. It's my life. It's my family. It's my world.
Yes... I was serious. I'm not sure when the Foo Fighters are going to play again. It feels strange to say that, but it's a good thing for all of us to go away for a while. It's one of the reasons we're still here. Make sense? I never want to NOT be in this band. So, sometimes it's good to just... put it back in the garage for a while...
But, no gold watches or vacations just yet... I'll be focusing all of my energy on finishing up my Sound City documentary film and album for worldwide release in the very near future. A year in the making, it could be the biggest, most important project I've ever worked on. Get ready... it's coming.
Me, Taylor, Nate, Pat, Chris, and Rami... I'm sure we'll all see you out there... somewhere...
Thank you, thank you, thank you...
- Dave
