Heavy Music history was written on Thursday, May 2 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, CA. Not only did the Revolver Golden Gods Awards welcome the elite of the music we all love, but the energy inside the sold out venue was incomparable. Here is a scoop of who won what, and who performed with whom.
Prior to the event we took over the Black Carpet and chatted with Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal from GUNS N' ROSES! Yeah, we know he is not SLASH (who we interviewed last year) but "Bumblefoot" rocks as you will see on this interview.
The entire event was dedicated to SLAYER's Jeff Hanneman, who passed away recently from liver failure. Details HERE!

This just in: GODSMACK have announced that due to continued vocal issues with singer Sully Erna, the band has no option but to cancel the remaining dates on its currently scheduled European tour. Erna was examined by throat specialists in the U.S. yesterday and the advice of his doctors has been to not sing for the next several weeks to allow time for his vocal cords to heal. Here is a statement from Sully Erna:
"Sorry, Europe. Seems like we can't catch a break there lately. London, you were one of the best crowds we've played to in a very long time.... Belgium, you were awesome as well. As for the rest of you in Europe that we weren't able to reach, I promise you we'll be back!! For now it's lots of rest and fluids for me until my vocal specialist clears me to sing again. My deepest apologies Europe! You'll see us again. Thanks for your support and understanding."
The current trek marked the first time GODSMACK had toured Europe in
nearly nine years, and the band was only able to perform two of their
fourteen scheduled dates in Europe.
As previously reported, GODSMACK will perform on the main stage of The Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival along with multiplatinum Rock bands SHINEDOWN, STAIND

Wrestler and rocker Chris Jericho, has been "suspended indefinitely" from the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment for denigrating the Brazilian flag. The incident took place yesterday (Thursday, May 24) in São Paulo during a match with C.M. Punk (recipient of the Golden God for "Most Metal Athlete"). What happened?
During the match between Jericho and C.M. Punk, the latter was waving the Brazilian flag proudly. All of a sudden Jericho crumbled up the Brazilian flag into a ball, threw it on the ground and kicked it. He was then informed that desecrating the national flag is a crime in Brazil punishable by incarceration.
Following the incident Jericho apologized to the Brazilian crowd: "I'd like to apologize for stepping on the flag earlier. I love Brazil. We are very happy to be here to perform in front of you. So please accept my apology for stepping on your wonderful flag of this wonderful country."
A short time later, the WWE posted this message on their web site:
"Chris Jericho has been suspended indefinitely due to an irresponsible act of denigrating the Brazilian flag at a WWE live event in São Paulo on May 24. WWE has apologized to the citizens and the government of Brazil for this incident."
Two weeks ago, America’s only Hard Rock and Heavy Metal award show took over downtown Los Angeles! The fourth annual REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARD SHOW presented by Epiphone® rocked out at Club Nokia in Downtown Los Angeles. For the first time ever, the event was broadcast live in its entirety on Xbox LIVE, as well as on the Xbox and Revolver Facebook pages.
Prior to the beginning of the awards show, we had the chance to chat with Chris Jericho, the "house" guest host of the REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARD SHOW. Jericho is also the frontman of FOZZY and of course, a WWE fighter! During the chat we talked to Jericho about the connection between the Heavy Music fans and the wrestling fans. We also chatted with him about what it mean to be the "house" guest host of the awards show for the third year in a row! Here is our interview with Chris Jericho at the 2012 Revolver Golden Gods Awards.
Last year we debuted at the "black carpet" of the Revolver Golden Gods Awards in downtown Los Angeles, California. This Wednesday, we'll be back bringing you all the "black carpet" action! In celebration of the sold out Revolver Golden Gods Awards, we decided to bring you some previously unreleased interviews from last years kick ass event. Here is one with Chris Jericho from FOZZY, who is also aWWE fighter, and the host of the fourth edition of the Revolver Golden Gods Awards!
In January 2012, Fozzy signed a record deal with Century Media Records, and plan to release a NEW album and DVD later in the summer. Not soon after that Jericho hinted the NEW album on his Twitter saying 'New @FOZZYROCK album in August?!'. Jericho made a full-time return to the WWE on January 2nd, 2012, but despite this Fozzy were announced to be a part of the Download Festival in the UK in the summer.

FOZZY is the brainchild of Rich Ward and Chris Jericho, two larger-than-life, trailblazing personalities that have spent the past decade shaping their own brand of sonic splendor, Ward's incendiary guitars forging a path for Jericho's inimitable vocals. The band's debut album through Century Media Records is set to be released in 2012, so be prepared for a new heavy metal classic, FOZZY-style, coming soon!
This past week Heavy Music was represented twice on national media, meaning that millions of people got a taste of the attitude that is a vital component of our scene. While some may say that the having Chris Jericho (Fozzy) on "Dancing With the Stars" and Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society) on "American Idol" is a horrible move for Heavy Music. We believe that if anything, it helps to get the word out about the impact of the music we love.
Television has always been a great medium for artists to promote themselves, hence why all the late night talk shows have actors, musicians and bands being interviewed and/or performing on their shows. And while some Heavy Music bands like Slayer, Lamb Of God, Mastodon, deftones, and Shadow's Fall, just to mention a few, occasionally get to perform on late night shows. It is not a an easy process for publicists to get our bands on those shows, since they have to go through lots of bullshit thanks to the social stigma that is part of our culture.
Our opinion is that if two of our Army members are featured on some of the biggest television shows today, we should all embrace the moment and see this as a very positive move towards exposing the masses to Heavy Music. Unfortunately, there are some fans that are very close minded and when an artists gets any exposure that's outside of the Heavy Music world, they start freaking out and calling the artist a "sell-out". This is precisely what happened to Metallica.
Our conclusion is that we should all support the artists that represent our scene and make all of us look good. For those who watched Chris Jericho and Zakk Wylde on national television this week, you know that they made all of us look good. If you haven't seen the clips, well check them out:
