World-renowned ADRENALINE MOB drummer Mike Portnoy comments on the bands decision to cover HEART's classic song "Barracuda" on his bands NEW cover album 'Coverta' (available now):
“I picked this track. I always thought this was a killer song and would make for a great modern-Metal update. I produced a demo for my wife's old Thrash band Meanstreak back in the early 90's and they covered this but it was never released, so I thought it would be great one for us to Mob-up! There's very few male singers that could tackle Ann Wilson's incredible vocal range, but I had a hunch Russell would kill it and sure enough, he did!”

In support of their album 'Omerta' and debut single, "Come Undone", ADRENALINE MOB will be commencing a U.S. tour on March 12th the legendary Toads Place in New Haven, Connecticut. Additionally on that day, the band will be releasing 'Coverta', an eight-track EP featuring cover versions of some of the band’s favorite songs. Long time fans of Mike Portnoy are aware of the multiple cover CDs he has released with Dream Theater and with Neal Morse. 'Coverta' is the first CD of covers recorded by ADRENALINE MOB.

Yesterday (Wednesday, December 27, 2012), the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts honored seven individuals who received the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors. Here is the list of honorees at the 35th annual national celebration of the arts:
- Bluesman Buddy Guy
- Actor and director Dustin Hoffman
- Comedian and television host David Letterman
- Ballerina Natalia Makarova
- Rock band Led Zeppelin.
While Led Zeppelin were honored as a band, keyboardist/bassist John Paul Jones, guitarist Jimmy Page, and singer Robert Plant received the Kennedy Center Honors.
"With their extraordinary talent, creativity and tenacity, the seven 2012 Kennedy Center Honorees have contributed significantly to the cultural life of our nation and the world," said Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein. "Buddy Guy is a titan of the blues and has been a tremendous influence on virtually everyone who has picked up an electric guitar in the last half century; Dustin Hoffman's unyielding commitment to the wide variety of roles he plays has made him one of the most versatile and iconoclastic actors of this or any other generation; David Letterman is one of the most influential personalities in the history of television, entertaining an entire generation of late-night viewers with his unconventional wit and charm; Natalia Makarova's profound artistry has ignited the stages of the world's greatest ballet companies and continues to pass the torch to the next generation of dancers; and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant transformed the sound of rock and roll with their lyricism and innovative song structures, infusing blues into the sound of rock and roll and laying the foundation for countless rock bands."

Legions of fans worldwide were expecting a reunion tour following LED
ZEPPELIN's triumphant reunion concert at London's O2 Arena in 2007.
And apparently some of the members of the band also expected the
reunion tour to happen. "Some of us thought we would be continuing,
that there were going to be more concerts in the
not-too-distant-future," Jimmy Page told Rolling Stone Senior Writer
David Fricke in the NEW issue (on stands Friday). "Because there was a
lot of work being put into the show."
"He was busy,"
says Page. "He was doing his Alison Krauss project. I wasn't fully
aware it was going to be launched at the same time. So what do you do
in a situation like that? I'd been working with the other two guys for
the percentage of the rehearsals at the O2. We were connecting well.
The weakness was that none of us sang."
Recently,
the band released their NEW concert film "Celebration Day" at the
historic Ziegfeld Theater in New York's theater district on October 9.
Prior to the premiere, founding members John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page,
and Robert Plant were joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late
drummer John Bonham, for a press conference at New York's Museum of

Recently, the FOO FIGHTERS announced a hiatus after 18 years of rocking the entire world. HERE is a statement posted by the bands frontman Dave Grohl.
So what is in the Grohl agenda for the rest of this year and in 2013?
Well, Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme revealed to Zane Lowe on his BBC Radio 1 show that Grohl will be drumming for the band on their NEW album! However, Grohl has announced via this interview that he will not be touring with the band. So why will Grohl not be touring with the band? For the first time ever, Ultimate Guitar presented some of the members of DOWN with an interview made up entirely of reader's questions. Over 300 questions were submitted over the course of several days and they had the arduous task of picking "the best" questions and then getting Philip Anselmo, Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein to answer them.
Here are a few of the questions, followed some very honest answers:
UG: How did you feel about playing the Pantera songs live on the Metal Masters tour? What is your favorite Pantera song to play? (Maiden95)
Anselmo: I feel great to play 'em live. It's fun; it's great. My favorite? I guess my all-time favorite would be "A New Level".
You've been involved in bands with hardcore/punk influences. What are some of your favorite hardcore/punk albums? (HandsofStone)
Anselmo: 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath'. Pepper Kennan: Hardcore or punk? It would be narrowed down to three records probably: "My War" by Black Flag; "Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing" by Discharge; and Cro-Mags "The Age Of Quarrel". And the Ramones "Road To Ruin".
Kirk, same question.
Anselmo: He don't know punk. Kirk Windstein: I really don't know punk that well. Anselmo: I know some sh-t. Windstein: I'd say "The Age Of Quarrel" and Agnostic Front... Anselmo: "Victim In Pain." Windstein: Yeah, "Victim In Pain". Keenan: It depends which ones made you shift a lot when you were younger. When I heard "Road To Ruin" when I was 13, 14 years old, it changed my life. Anselmo: Tell me f---in' certain Celtic Frost tunes ain't hardcore? Keenan: Well sure. Anselmo: Exactly.
"I have certain values and I guess attitude and with that comes a music that you keep close to your heart."

Anselmo: To me the ones I'm proud of it would take too long for me to answer. That's an impossible question.
Back in the day White Zombie benefited from Beavis & Butthead giving them their "seal of approval". Did Crowbar notice any similar boost in sales after their video was shown on that show? (zalant)
Windstein: Umm, it was the biggest selling record that we had. I mean we intentionally sent a package in with a video, t-shirt and a note and everything for Mike Judge. We're like, "Dude, have at it. Make fun of us. We know we're fat and we know we're ugly and we're heavy so have at it. Make fun of us all you want." So it certainly didn't hurt things I should say.
What was the cause for such a dramatic change in your vocal style on the later Pantera albums? (K!!LsWiTcH)
Anselmo: Ohh, I guess I was finding myself more and more and more. I have certain values and I guess attitude and with that comes a music that you keep close to your heart as genres. Emulating and being an extension of those genres, I was a young man so I would say impressionable. It helped me define myself. You take a good listen around today and I don't think it's the earlier Phil Anselmo kids are apin' but it's the more later Pantera kids have been most influenced by.
