SOILWORK's Dirk Verbeuren: 'The Living Infinite', Upcoming Tour, Drumming Techniques & The Music Industry!

As previously announced, 'The Living Infinite', the ninth studio album and first dual-disc release by Swedish melodic Metal maestros SOILWORK, will be unleashed on February 27th in Asia (via license to Marquee Records), in Europe on March 1st, and in North America on March 5th (via Nuclear Blast Records). Peep the album cover and track listing HERE!
Earlier this week, we tapped into Dirk Verbeuren's phone line and questioned him about the bands NEW record. During our chat with SOILWORK's drumming machine, we discussed why the band decided to have the balls to produce a dual disc in a time in which most bands are sticking to releasing "short" format releases since the music industry is an all time low and record sales are compromised as a result. We also chatted with him about his drumming techniques both on and off stage, and what producer Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, God Forbid) brought to the table. Verbeuren also offered us some insight on the music business and how this recently affected the future of Dave Lombardo in SLAYER! Check the interview out and spread the word!

The tracks “Spectrum Of Eternity” (http://bit.ly/swsoeitun) and “This Momentary Bliss” (http://bit.ly/swtmbitun) are now available for purchase; in two weeks, two more songs will be made available.  Pre-order the album on iTunes here: http://bit.ly/swtlitune

In celebration of their highly anticipated album, SOILWORK will kick off their world tour with a 55-show headlining trek through the U.S. and Canada this March. Support comes from Jeff Loomis, Blackguard, The Browning, and Wretched.

SOILWORK Release In Studio Video Of David Andersson Laying Down Guitar Tracks!

As previously reported, Swedish Metallers SOILWORK are currently locked up in the studio recording the follow-up to their 2010 release 'The Panic Broadcast'. In order to ensure that the production process progresses smoothly, the band has kidnapped producer Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, BLOODBATH) for what will be the bands ninth studio album. Get this: the upcoming album is called 'The Living Infinite' and it will be a double album.

Recently, SOILWORK have posted video footage of the band's guitarist, David Andersson, laying down tracks to rape (or Pro Tools). Check it out HERE.

Here is a statement by vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid regarding the NEW album:

“So here’s the scoop. Me and the boys have been waiting to share this for quite some time now: 'The Living Infinite' will be a double album! A REAL double album, in the true sense of the word, which means no fillers and no left-overs.

"I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and I proposed the idea to the rest of the guys in the band, during our festival tour last summer. Everybody liked the title The Living Infinite and also the idea of working towards the goal of releasing a double album. David Andersson was already playing with us last summer, so he has also been a part of this goal from the start. I feel very excited and proud that we’ve managed to find the inspiration and dedication it takes to create somewhat of a conceptual double album, especially since it’s dealing with a lot of existential questions.

"We would also like to reveal a brand new band shot by Hannah Verbeuren Photography. We are currently hard at work in the studio, putting this beast on tape. Things are sounding incredibly good so far. So excited about this and can’t wait to share the awesomeness with you all!"

SOILWORK's Björn "Speed" Strid: "Better sharpen your sledgehammers 'cause SOILWORK is back!"

Metaleros! We got some killer news from the SOILWORK camp! Read this statement by their vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid right now!

"It's been a pretty long time coming, but as we speak I'm sitting here smiling my ass off listening to the demos that will forge into 'The Living Infinite'. I've been feeling pretty damn restless from this break to be honest with you, therefore it is with great excitement that I've approached this NEW album. As soon as we started working on songs in March, all my focus and energy went into building this new beast. We're finished writing songs and I'm currently laying down demo vocals and I'm having a blast. I feel very inspired.

"Around the time that we released 'The Panic Broadcast', I moved into a house by the ocean in a tiny fisherman's village. The ocean has given me so much inspiration and raised a lot of existential questions, which will inspire a lot of the lyrics on 'The Living Infinite', the words Jacques Cousteau used to describe the ocean. Pretentious? Hell yes, but in the most typical SOILWORK manner, with the right intensity, dynamics and melodies to back it up and make it real. I can't wait to team up with the rest of the guys and start putting this album on tape, together with the amazing producer Jens Bogren!"

"It's almost time to start recording 'The Living Infinite' and I seriously can't wait," added drummer Dirk Verbeuren. "The new demos are super intense guitar-wise with tons of harmonies and typical SOILWORK-style riffs. I hear 'A Predator's Portrait' peppered with some 'The Panic Broadcast', a hint of 'Stabbing The Drama' and a bunch of new spices thrown in for good measure. We've all been writing and arranging like mad for the past few months, now we're about to get together in the ole rehearsal space to finish everything up. It's gonna be a hell of a ride folks, and it'll be captured in stereo by the mighty Jens Bogren. Better sharpen your sledgehammers 'cause SOILWORK is back!"
