On February 19,KORN posted a NEW group shot that includes Brian "Head" Welch as a member of the band (peep it HERE).The whole reuniting of the band begun last summer, when former guitarist Brian "Head" Welch joined the band at the Carolina Rebellion festival at the legendary Rockingham Speedway in Rockingham, North Carolina to perform the bands classic hit song "Blind".
Welch left KORN in 2005 to become a born-again Christian after years of hard drug and alcohol abuse while in the band. Although Welch has a NEW band called LOVE AND DEATH, "Head" is happy with his current relationship with the members of KORN. Loudwire recently chatted with "Head" about LOVE AND DEATH, and about his future in KORN. Check it out:
"Head" is scheduled to join the
band at a number of shows this spring/summer; including the “Rock On The
Range” festival in Columbus, Ohio in May (more info HERE).
"Head" will also be part of next year's edition of the Rock am Ring and
Rock im Park festivals, set to take place June 7-9, 2013 in the German
towns of Nürburgring and Nürnberg, respectively.
CAPTION FROM KORN: "2013 will be a great year for Korn."
Last summer, groundbreaking musical act KORN, were rejoined by former guitarist Brian "Head" Welch at the Carolina Rebellion festival at the legendary Rockingham Speedway in Rockingham, North Carolina to perform the bands classic hit song "Blind". Welch left KORN in 2005 to become a born-again Christian after years of hard drug and alcohol abuse while in the band. Although Welch has a NEW band called LOVE AND DEATH, both he and KORN bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu said that a reunion could be possible one day under the right conditions. Until yesterday (February 19), the big question was whither or not "Head" will return to the band full time.According to the bands NEW group shot (see above), "Head" is back in the band! It is well known within the music industry that bands only update their group shots when they have a NEW lineup or when they are entering a NEW album cycle.
During a recent interview with Rollingstone.com, "Head" was asked about the possibility of the U.S. getting a full Korn tour with himself in tow. To that he replied: “We’re going slow. We’re hanging out when I’ve got time, but I’ve got my album out, and they’re busy doing their stuff. But I’d say anything is possible right now.”

Korn Path of Totality Tour Dates:

May 8 - The Paramount - Huntington, NY
May 10 - Starland Ballroom - Sayreville, NJ
By now you probably heard that Korn has just released a NEW album entitled "The Path Of Totality". And while it is definitely not a Heavy Metal album, everything about the creation of Korn's 10th studio album is pretty damn Metal. How so? Well, being Metal means that you are a rebel at heart and that you will do whatever you want without caring what others think. We truly admire Korn's courage for going against the grain and once again revolutionizing music. Our advice to all of you out there: stop being so hardheaded and open up your mind!
This week our good friends from Revolver Magazine picked Korn's "The Path Of Totality" as their record of the year. Soon after they announced this, members of the media (who shall remain nameless), attacked them for choosing an album that again is definitely not a Heavy Metal album. Some even called them out for just caring about making money. Newsflash: if Revolver only cared about money, they wouldn't be in the publishing business anymore! And while everyone is entitled to their own opinion, lets be respectful towards each other. If you don't like their pick for album of the year, feel free to argue back but make sure you do it a professional, constructive and educational way!
Revolver Magazine: Are you surprised to receive this honor for an electronic album?
Jonathan Davis: Yeah. It is fucking crazy, but it’s still rock. I executive produced it—that’s what they called it—and my whole job was to keep the integrity of both sides of the music intact and finding that balance. It’s still a Korn record–you can’t deny it’s a Korn record–but there’s those subtle, and sometimes there’s a lot of the dubstep influence, and drum and bass. It’s not that we were going for a dubstep record, there’s all styles of electronic music on this. There’s dubstep, drum and bass, electro, it’s all kinds of different kinds of music. My job was to fit the pieces in and arrange them into song form and then figure out how the fuck I was gonna sing over them and all that stuff. It’s a rock record, but it’s got electronic influences.
While we don't believe that Korn's "The Path Of Totality" is the record of the year, we do believe that is the most original album of the year in Heavy Music. "The Path of Totality" is an experimental album which finds Korn shifting gears and exploring new territory. That should hardly come as a shock to the band's diehard fans, as Korn exploded onto the scene in the'90s and established themselves as hard rock game changers from that point on.
"The Path of Totality", the band collaborated with some of the leading dubstep and electronic producers in the world, including Skrillex, Excision, Datsik, Noisia, Kill the Noise, and 12th Planet. The result is something completely new, yet utterly and definitively Korn. This is what vocalist Jonathan Davis had to say about Korn's new musical project.

The complete concert, previously seen last year on TV and online in an abbreviated form, will be offered in its entirety to those who purchase the deluxe version.
Korn is ready to once again revolutionize the eyes and ears of the Heavy Music fans with the release of their tenth studio album titled "The Path of Totality" (set to be released on December 6th via Roadrunner Records). In anticipation of this release, a NEW song entitled "Sanctuary" can be streamed below.
"The title "The Path of Totality" refers to the fact that in order to see the sun in a full solar eclipse, you must be in the exact right place in the exact right time. That's how this album came together. I think all the producers feel the same way. I'm not sure it could ever happen again." - Jonathan Davis

Additionally, today Korn announced that the first leg of their "Path of Totality (P.O.T.)" tour will play key ballrooms and feature dubstep DJ's Datsik and Downlink, as well as young upstart Dutch Dub-rockers Dope D.O.D. Expect a groundbreaking experience unlike any other Korn tour.

On Friday, November 4th, Nu Metal Kings Korn brought their musical potpourri to New York City's Roseland Ballroom. Joining them on the second show of the first leg of their "Path of Totality (P.O.T.)" tour, were dubstep DJ's Datsik and Downlink, as well as young upstart Dutch Dub-rockers Dope D.O.D.
While this opening acts were something extremely different for all the attendees and we find it great when artists attempt to open other peoples minds, we think they could have brought in one additional Rock band to perform prior to Korn's performance. Having a DJ perform for an entire hour before Korn's performance is a bit too much for the Rock crowd to stomach. We understand that Korn is venturing into the electronic music scene, but they are a Rock band!
The highlight of the opening acts was when Korn's vocalist Jonathan Davis joined DJ Downlink and performed 'Tension', a B-Side of Korn's forthcoming album "The Path of Totality" (set to be released on December 6th via Roadrunner Records).
Now that we got that out of our chests, lets analyze Korn's set. As soon as the band stepped on stage with their Old School look, we knew something good was about to happen. A few seconds later, they kicked off their set with their song 'Predictable' and the crowd went absolutely ape shit! Then they continued their set with classics like 'Lies', 'No Place To Hide', and 'Proud'.
All of a sudden they left the stage and came back looking more "modern", this is when they performed new songs out of their NEW album "The Path of Totality". While most of the crowd had never heard this songs before, Korn's musical energy made sure that the bodies kept grooving out of control!
After delivering 5 new songs to thousands of maniacs, the band performed their hits 'Here To Stay', 'Freak On A Leash', 'Falling Away From Me', and their Pink Floyd cover of 'Another Brick In The Wall'. Next thing you know the band gets off stage and Jonathan Davis returns with bagpipes in hand to perform 'Shoots and Ladders', which was without a doubt the highlight of the night! This was followed by a short version of Metallica's 'One', 'Got The Life' and of course 'Blind'!
At the end of the show, the crowd left sweaty, happy, and drunk! Korn once again proved why they are one of the best bands in Rock music today! If you have the chance to see them in a town near you, do your ears and body a favor: GO SEE KORN!

The story behind Bakersfield, California's Korn is one like none-other. Formed in 1993 after the demise of L.A.P.D., which featured part of the bands current lineup. The minute Korn released their self-titled first album, the Heavy Music world was changed forever. Arguably considered the godfathers of Nu Metal, the band keeps reinventing their musical craft album after album.
With nine studio albums under their belt, Korn is ready to once again revolutionize the ears of the Heavy Music fans with the release of their tenth studio album titled "The Path of Totality" (set to be released on December 6th via Roadrunner Records).

The band's recent (and much lauded) collaboration with dubstep's hottest producer, Skrillex, titled "Get Up!," was the surprise rock hit of the summer, the buzz of which started in Coachella's dance tent in April 2011, when Jonathan and Munky joined Skrillex on stage for a show stealing unannounced performance of the song.
That performance generated the start of a deafening buzz. The track has sold over 150,000 downloads, while the lyric video (which you can watch below) has generated nearly two million views and counting. The song was a top 10 rock radio hit.
"Get Up" started as a bit of an experiment, but we had such an amazing response from our fans and had such a great time collaborating that a full album of tracks came together in a couple of months. We couldn't wait to get to the studio every day to finish the next song." - James "Munky" Shaffer
