Defiler To Re-release Debut Album ‘Pangaea’ On CD Thanks To Stillborn Records!

In October 2010, after a few months living in the studio working on demos and recording, Castro Valley, California’s Defiler released their own debut album, "Pangaea", as a digital album only. Soon after, scraping together enough money from digital sales of "Pangaea", the band shot their first ever music video for ‘Cryomancer’. Once ‘Cryomancer’ went viral it spread like wildfire, garnering thousands of views within the first few weeks of its release and accumulating over 1.25 million YouTube views to date.

The viral success of the ‘Cryomancer’ video immediately caught the attention of Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed, Jasta, Kingdom of Sorrow) and Stillborn Records. Shortly thereafter, Defiler vocalist Jake Pelzl and Jasta started working together on re-issuing "PANGAEA" as a physical CD for the first time ever.  Due to popular demand, Stillborn Records is now fast tracking the re-issue of "PANGAEA" and making it available for a limited time as a CD/T-shirt bundle.

The re-issue of "PANGAEA" was remixed/re-masterd by Zeuss (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, Emmure, Chimaira) also includes ‘Wild Wasteland’, a never before released bonus studio track. The "Pangea" re-issue will also include new artwork designed by Mike D from Darkicon Design (Killswitch Engage).

Defiler recently signed a new record deal (with a new label home) with additional details are set to be announced shortly. The band and is currently hard at work on the follow up to "Pangaea" with an expected first quarter 2012 release.

Defiler is:

Jake Pelzl (Founding member and vocalist)
Ethan Lewis - (Guitar)
Ian Poole - (Drums)

Thy Will Be Done = Rhode Island's Punch

Thy Will Be Done is one of the hardest working bands in the underground Heavy Music scene! Ever since we came across them in 2009 at the Crazy Donkey in Long Island, where they warmed up the crowd for Machine Head. We knew that they had the proper mindset and the right sound to be able to infect thousands of ear buds all across the United States. In the last few years they have been direct support for: Lamb Of God, Machine Head (as mentioned above), Fear Factory, Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage, Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth and many more.

Why this all this bands ask Thy Will Be Done to share the stage with them? Well, they guys from Thy Will Be Done have managed to blend various elements of Heavy Metal and Hardcore in an original way. They are also some of the nicest guys you will ever meet, they always go the extra mile for their fans both on and off stage.

We've heard many fans out there say how at the beginning they didn't get the bands music, but that after a few spins they understood that Thy Will Be Done is "Rhode Island's Punch"! Once they hit you, they knock you out ala Mike Tyson.

This past December we headed over to Santos Party House in New York City, to check out Shadow's Fall, Thy Will Be Done and Binary Code. As soon as we got to the venue we ran into Thy Will Be Done's front-man/screamer J Costa, and immediately started talking music! Right after Thy Will Be Done were done punching everyone who attended in the gut with their furious music, we spoke with J about the past, the present and the future of Thy Will Be Done.

Check out this video interview with J Costa, which features a brand new song by Thy Will Be Done, and a cameo appearance by Doc Coyle from God Forbid. \m/

The World We Knew: Version 2010

This past Sunday we experienced another furious show put together by 2 Legit Bookings. 2 Legit Booking is a New York City based booking company, started by John Effin Wiley (Severed & The World We Knew) and his partner in crime Dee. 2 Legit has quickly become a reputable and honest booking company, which is why Horns Up Rocks has jumped on board with 2 Legit, and together have helped to give rebirth to the New York City Heavy Music underground scene. Ok, enough props. We are here to tell you about the brutal assault known as The World We Knew.

The World We Knew came to surface in 2004 when singer Frank Fanelli decided it was time to stop compromising his talent, and to start playing some brutal music. After many years of hard work, in 2007 they released their debut album titled "Exortium". A few years later and after a few lineup changes, they released "To The Wolves". This is the album that caught the attention of Stillborn Records, the label owned and operated by Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed. Once Stillborn Records took them under their wing, it was time for the band to get busy on the road. After they got signed by Stillborn Records, one of the big tours they were part of was Stillborn Fest 2009. From there on, things got pretty hectic for the band and once their touring cycle ended, it was time for some restructuring.

After a few months of trial and error, singer Frank Fanelli and guitarist Tim Howley, found the links they were missing in order to re-create their chain of punishing brutality. In a very wise move, the band brought in Severed's backbone: guitarist Justin Whang, bassist John Effin Wiley, and drummer Jorge Sosa. Judging from their performance this past Sunday at Club Europa, the band's upcoming tour in December, which will conclude with another run with Stillborn Fest (featuring Hatebreed), will be a vulgar display of power! Don't believe us? Check out this exclusive video which includes live footage of The World We knew, and an interview with singer Frank Fanelli! \m/
