SLAYER Is Far From Done, Paul Bostaph Rejoins The Band!

Half of SLAYER are making a clear statement that they are far from done! That's right, Tom Araya and Kerry King will continue jamming even though they recently lost two of their original members: their friend and guitarist Jeff Hanneman who passed away from liver failure, and drummer Dave Lombardo (whom they fired).

Bostaph will be behind the drum kit beginning June 4 when SLAYER kicks off the first leg of its 2013 international tour in Warsaw, Poland. EXODUS' Gary Holt will continue to fill in for fallen guitarist Jeff Hanneman.

"Paul's a great drummer and a good friend, and we're very happy that he's decided to rejoin the band," said Tom Araya. "We're still pretty numb from the loss of Jeff, but we don't want to disappoint our European and South American fans, and we need to begin moving forward... Having Paul back in the band makes that a whole lot easier."

"I'm very excited to be rejoining SLAYER," added Bostaph. "We spent a very intense ten years of our lives together, had a lot of fun, made a lot of great music, so for me, this feels like coming home."

SLAYER's 2013 itinerary will have the band playing 35 dates that will include headline shows as well as a number of major summer festivals in Europe, Eastern Europe and South America between June and October.

Bostaph was SLAYER's drummer from 1992 until 2001 and recorded four albums with the band — the gold-certified "Divine Intervention" (1994), the 1996 punk covers album "Undisputed Attitude", "Diabolus In Musica" (1998), "God Hates Us All" (2001) that received a Grammy nomination for "Best Metal Performance", as well as the DVD "War At The Warfield" (2001), also certified gold. EXODUS Shut Down All Disbanding Rumors & Remind You: Family First!

It was announced earlier today by the organizers of the 2013 MARYLAND DEATHFEST that EXODUS have pulled out of the fest due to a "variety of personal issues and matters with one of the members". SACRED REICH will be replacing the Bay Area thrashers. The event is scheduled to take place on May 23-26 in Baltimore, Maryland. Full festival details HERE!

In spite of all the rumors that surfaces after this news surfaced, the members of EXODUS have released the following statement:

"We have recently observed a whirlwind of speculation, conspiracy theories, and just plain ole dumb-assed comments on the Internet regarding EXODUS' future and that of [guitarist] Gary Holt's commitment to this band. The following is an attempt to shed some light on actual facts, as well as trying to clear the air.

"The reason we canceled our appearance at this years Maryland Deathfest was, in fact, due to Gary's commitment to his sudden and seriously ill father. Actually, just days prior to the start of the Metal Alliance tour [with ANTHRAX], we were making arrangements to have someone fill in for Gary due to his unknown status. As things worked out, his father was able to recover to a somewhat stable condition, yet he is still not 'out of the woods' and continues to be a closely monitored. This was obviously a private and personal matter that didn't warrant public knowledge, but it seems the press release from Maryland Deathfest and then the interview given by Gary about not quitting EXODUS was just a random coincidence and we felt it necessary to inform people of the real story.

"EXODUS is not disbanding! Gary will continue to perform on the current Metal Alliance tour, as well as splitting his time between EXODUS and SLAYER in the future. The band (with Holt) will be appearing at this year's Hell & Heaven fest in Guadalajara, Mexico, as advertised, on May 19th. After which, Gary will return home to support and care for his family.

"Our apologies to the Maryland Deathfest staff, as well as to the EXODUS fans who were eager to see us, and we hope everyone understands that family and loved ones comes first."

EXODUS is currently co-headlining the 2013 Metal Alliance tour along with ANTHRAX. Here is the list of remaining tour dates:

Apr. 04 - First Avenue - Minneapolis, MN
Apr. 05 - House of Blues - Chicago, IL

EXODUS Won't Be Able To Jam At MARYLAND DEATHFEST, Find Out Why!

It has been announced by the organizers of the 2013 MARYLAND DEATHFEST that EXODUS have pulled out of the fest due to a "variety of personal issues and matters with one of the members". SACRED REICH will be replacing the Bay Area thrashers. The event is scheduled to take place on May 23-26 in Baltimore, Maryland. Full festival details HERE!

While no further details have been revealed by the band or the organizers of the fest, we do know that EXODUS frontman Rob Dukes has been struggling with back issues since November of 2012 and might need surgery as a result. If you look at the bands touring agenda HERE, they have almost a three month gap between their concert in Guadalajara, Mexico (5/19) and the first date of their European tour date in Gavle, Sweden (8/9).
So it would make sense for Dukes to take care of his health during that gap, since without Dukes being in top form his performance will deteriorate.

EXODUS is currently co-headlining the 2013 Metal Alliance tour along with ANTHRAX. Here is the list of remaining tour dates:

Apr. 04 - First Avenue - Minneapolis, MN

EXODUS' Gary Holt Is NOT Interested In Joining SLAYER Full Time - Statement Available!

Recently, Kerry King stated that Gary Holt from EXODUS, who has been the TEMPORARY replacement for Jeff Hanneman ever since the SLAYER guitarist contrived an acute infection known as necrotizing fasciitis (usually caused by a spider bite) over two years ago, might remain in the band for good! Here is what KFK said about this:

"I think Gary is in for the long haul. I haven’t really discussed it with him. But he keeps his schedule free when he knows we’re on tour… If Jeff all of a sudden came back in June, we would probably pay Gary for freeing up his time… But if Gary played with us for ever? I’m okay with that."

Well, Holt is not interested in joining SLAYER full time. Here is what he had to say about this during an interview with Metal Titans:

"Not if it meant the end of what I’ve been doing my whole life. If I could manage both, you know… But I’ve been filling in for just over two years now and I’m booked all year with them. But I’m just keeping the work going with Exodus and I’ve been doing a lot of riff writing on tour. And on the summer [run] with Slayer, I’m taking a little portable, digital recording rig with me so I can continue working on [new Exodus] stuff in hotel rooms and shit."

It is great to hear that Holt still has his musical heart in EXODUS and that he is not going to ditch SLAYER when they need him. That is what we call PROFESSIONAL! Also, who doesn't want to receive a double paycheck? Here is the entire interview:

SLAYER's Kerry King Wants To "Fire" Jeff Hanneman?!

The end of SLAYER is near! If you are a SLAYER fan you might still be pissed off at Kerry King for letting go of drumming legend Dave Lombardo because he basically didn't want to re-negotiate Lombardo's contract with the band.
Not only did Lombardo not make the trip to Australia for the bands recent appearance at SOUNDWAVE Festival (Jon Dette was his temporary replacement), but Jeff Hanneman hasn't performed with the band since the BIG FOUR concert in Indio, California in April of 2011 (EXODUS' Gary Holt is his temporary replacement)

Now King is stating that Gary Holt from EXODUS, who has been the TEMPORARY replacement for Jeff Hanneman ever since the SLAYER guitarist
contrived an acute infection known as necrotizing fasciitis (usually caused by a spider bite) over two years ago, might remain in the band for good! During a recent interview with Metal Obsession, King had this to say about the future of Hanneman in the band:

"I think Gary is in for the long haul. I haven’t really discussed it with him. But he keeps his schedule free when he knows we’re on tour… If Jeff all of a sudden came back in June, we would probably pay Gary for freeing up his time… But if Gary played with us for ever? I’m okay with that."

We personally saw Hanneman's last performance with the band at the Big Four concert in Palo Alto, California, and Hanneman didn't seem to be struggling when he performed the bands encore right before METALLICA took center stage. In our humble opinion, that was SLAYER saying good bye to their legendary guitarist who has written MANY of the bands classic songs. Otherwise why didn't he continue to perform with the band? It is too bizarre of a situation and we wish SLAYER's camp would be more clear with what is happening. The fans deserve to know the truth! Here is a partial list:

1)
Angel of Death
2) South of Heaven
3) Raining Blood
4) War Ensemble
5) Die by the Sword

6) Altar of Sacrifice

7) Seasons in the Abyss

8) Disciple

9) Dead Skin Mask

EXODUS Banned By The Mickey Mouse Club (A.K.A. Disney)!

Just like it happened to MACHINE HEAD last year during their tour with DETHKLOK, ALL THAT REMAINS and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, Thrash Metallers EXODUS won't be permitted to perform at the Lake Buena Vista (House Of Blues) show in Orlando, Florida on April 12 as part of the METAL ALLIANCE Tour. A statement from the band follows:

“Because Disney has decided that Exodus is TOO METAL for them, we will NOT be playing the Lake Buena Vista [House Of Blues] show in Florida, but the fine thrash maniacs in Tampa have invited us to rage at the Orpheum instead,” says the band. “Who’s comin’ out for a 'Lesson in Violence'?”

Get Your Loved Ones A SLAYER Christmas Holiday Jumper!

Don't be cold during the holidays! Thanks to the SLAYER maniacs, you can now rock their NEW Christmas holiday jumper while listening to the bands music loud and roud.

Click HERE to purchase SLAYER's Christmas Holiday jumper!

As previously reported, SLAYER's classic song "Raining Blood", taken from one of he most influential Heavy Metal albums of all time ('Reign In Blood), was picked by Google for a 30 second commercial. The commercial is for Google's NEW Chromebooks by Samsung. The commercial is part of Google's NEW campaign that is designed around the "a computer for everyone" theme. Watch it HERE.

Slayer recently wrote Heavy Metal history as they performed in India for the first time in the bands career. The bands historic performance took place at the Vladivar Rock 'N India event in Bangalore, India. Footage available HERE!

As previously announced, SLAYER have two songs recorded for their next batch of NEW music. Kerry King recently announced that they have two more songs in the grill, that are missing vocals and leads. During a recent interview with Artisan News, King spoke about the NEW album and whither or not Jeff Hanneman's spider bite injury will delay the production of the record.

Has Jeff Hanneman's injury delayed the NEW SLAYER?

"Not yet. We've recorded very little. We got a little bit done. We had a 12-day window where we hijacked [producer] Greg Fidelman from METALLICA and worked with him a little bit. So we've got two [new songs] done; they've gotta be mixed. We've got two other ones that need vocals and leads. [There are] three other demos and three other [tracks] we still have to demo. But [this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour] is the last thing we're doing, so hopefully we'll get [the rest of the album] done before we pick up and tour again in October."

Jeff Hanneman's flesh eating disease.

"You hear about it, but I didn't even think we had that kind of spider in California. And I really think at the end of the day it's a speculation, because his arm was so fucked up, I can't imagine them even finding where they think it started, if you had my opinion. But, you know, that flesh-eating stuff, you can get scratched by a nail, you can get scratched by anything, and if you don't take care of it, it's gonna turn into something like that. But whatever got him, that is what happened — he had had the disease."

Prior to this historic event, we had the pleasure of interviewing Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big), Gary Holt (Slayer/Exodus), and Frank Bello (Anthrax). During this conversation we discussed the importance of a massive event like the Metal Masters for the entire Heavy Music scene.

New York City's GRAMERCY THEATRE Is Electrified By The METAL MASTERS - Video Of Entire Performance Available!

Heavy Metal history was written yet again (September 7), when the METAL MASTERS - Philip Anselmo, Kerry King, Dave Lombardo, Scott Ian, Frank Bello, Charlie Benante, Billy Sheehan and Gary Holt - performed together at the fourth installment of Samson's "Metal Master" series, which was held at the Gramercy Theatre on the famed island of Manhattan in New York City.

The night was kicked off by a very special unannounced performance of Dave Lombardo's NEW band PHILM! The trio kicked off the night in style, and the crowd loved seeing Lombardo up close and personal. He was literally jamming his drums from center stage. What a treat!

Following PHILM's set, Frank Bello from ANTHRAX entertained the crowd with his hilarious antics and demonstrated all sorts of techniques to the sold out audience. The best part of his clinic is when he asked various members of the crowd to joining him on stage so he could teach them a thing or two. You should have seen the emotion displayed by this kids! Priceless!

Right after Bello was done wowing the crowd with his New York brand of humor and great bass techniques, it was time for none other than Billy Sheehan from MR. BIG to teach many Metalheads that there is a very fine line between Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. They say that fine booze is better when aged, this is definitely the case with Mr. Sheehan. Get this, he has been playing bass for over 40 years! To say that the crowd learned a few things for him is an understatement.

Then it was ANTHRAX's Scott Ian turn to teach the audience at home and online (the event was streamed worldwide) a few techniques and tell some cool stories about his extensive career as a professional musician. During his musical spiel, the fire alarm went off and halted the show for about 20 minutes. The New York Fire Department showed up to make sure it wasn't anything serious, so the show could proceed. Apparently a smoker decided that it was a food idea to light up in a bathroom. Once Ian resumed his clinic, just like his bandmate Frank Bello, Ian invited a fan on stage and they jammed together!

Finalizing the clinic part of the METAL MASTERS IV was Charlie Benante from ANTHRAX, who always brings his amazing energy to the stage. Just like his counterparts, Benante jammed on stage with a very lucky fan! All in all, the clinic part of the show was very informative and funny as hell (except when the fire alarm went off).

A few minutes after the clinic, the all-star jam was introduced by Jose Mangin from Sirius XM Liquid Metal and Mike Menghi from ZOOM (one of the sponsors along with HAARTKE and SAMSON). The set list was as follows:

- "Room For One More" (w/ Frank Bello on lead vocals) (ANTHRAX)
- "Mouth For War" (PANTERA)
- "Five Minutes Alone" (PANTERA)
- "A New Level" (PANTERA)
- "Chemical Warfare" (SLAYER)
- "War Ensemble" (SLAYER)
- "Goddamn Electric" (PANTERA)

- "Kill Yourself" (STORMTROOPERS OF DEATH)
- "Angel Of Death" (SLAYER)
- "Strike Of The Beast" (EXODUS)
- "Raining Blood" (SLAYER)
- "Fucking Hostile" (PANTERA)

Quiet a set list ah? The highlights were: PANTERA's 5 "Five Minutes Alone" and "Goddamn Electric", SLAYER's "War Ensemble" and "Angel Of Death", and EXODUS' "Strike Of The Beast". Missed the show?

As SLAYER's Kerry King said in the past "Everybody wants to see Phil. Everybody loves Phil. When I come out, it's a huge applause. When Phil comes out, it's like somebody came back from the dead; they're not expecting it. And it's cool." To say that he stole the show is an understatement! It is so good to see what a positive role model Anselmo has become!

Did you miss the event? Do you want to see what you missed while you were at the bar picking up chicks (or dudes)? Well, thanks to our good friends from REVOLVER MAGAZINE, you can watch the entire show right here!
