JUDAS PRIEST: Rob Halford Offers NEW Album Update!

Get stoked! Heavy Metal legends JUDAS PRIEST are hard at work on their seventeenth album. Here is an update from the "God Of Metal", Rob Halford, who told VH1 Radio Network's Dave Basner what the fans can expect.

"We have all the songs in our heads running right now as we're speaking to you, we can hear them. It's coming along really well. We're in no rush. It'll be ready when it's ready. What we will say is we felt it was very important to follow up 'Nostradamus', the last release, and that was a concept experiment and it was a real success for us and the fans loved it, but I think our fans and ourselves as a band, we want to get back to the side of PRIEST that we haven't heard for a few years and reemphasize and remake those big, Heavy Metal statements again."

As for when you will listen to a NEW PRIEST album, Halford made it clear that he and his bandmates aren't going to set dates for themselves.

"I think that's the best way to approach it, because it would be wrong to say, 'On this date, at this moment, the record is coming out.' But where we're at now, we're very, very confident and, going out on a limb, I would say that we should have it wrapped up by the end of this year. We're forging ahead and everything's looking good, and yeah, it's looking right. So in the not-too-distant Metal future, there will be new PRIEST to listen to."

There you have it folks! JUDAS PRIEST is far from "retiring", despite their "epitaph" tour.

Rob Halford Joins Forces With FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, Here Is The Result Of Their Collaboration!

Before you hardheaded headbangers judge JUDAS PRIEST's Rob Halford for tracking a song with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, we suggest you listen to "Lift Me Up" below. Halford as per usual brought his signature vocals to the song, which will definitely turn a lot of the 5FDP fans into JUDAS PRIEST fans and vice versa. After all, this is why this collaborations happen and we must listen to the results with an open mind!

“Lift Me Up” (featuring Rob Halford of Judas Priest), which debuted with a performance of the band joined by iconic guest artist Halford live at Revolver Magazine’s Golden Gods Awards Show, will hit the air on radio stations across the globe today. Singer Ivan Moody shares, “First and foremost, just to work alongside an icon like Rob Halford, THE Metal God, was absolutely surreal. The song itself was originally written about overcoming everyday obstacles and less than perfect situations.  Most of us weren’t born with a silver spoon in our mouth but if life dealt you all the wrong cards, you still have to play.  The song’s intent is to inspire; if you play that hand right you might just come out on top anyway”.

"Here we go, Knuckleheads! "Lift Me Up" (featuring Rob Halford of Judas Priest) is LIVE on iTunes!"

Get it NOW: http://bit.ly/5FDP-LiftMeUp

Five Finger Death Punch will release 'The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell' Volume 1 on July 23, while Volume 2 is scheduled for later this fall.  Eleven Seven will release the albums outside of North America. Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Zoltan Bathory recently shared, “We came off the road after a couple of great years of touring and were really amped up to write the 4th record. Everybody was in the right headspace and the band tighter than ever so it was a perfect storm. We jumped in head first and found ourselves 12-13 songs deep fairly quick but were still coming up with better and better material so we looked at each other and said…. ok why stop there?  Let’s keep going. Once we passed the 24th song we knew we’re going to have to do two albums. We had this massive amount of music that’s very dear to us, possibly the best material this band has ever created. At that point there was no way to decide which songs to leave off one album. So we made the decision to release them all.”

In June, Five Finger Death Punch will return to Europe for a tour of major festivals including Sweden Rock (6/06), Germany’s Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park (6/08 and 6/09) and the U.K.’s Download Festival at Donington Park (6/16) (full schedule below) concluding the run with a performance at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Ceremony in London.

Upon the band’s return to the U.S., the band will co-headline the 2013 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival alongside Rob Zombie kicking off in San Bernadino, CA on June 29.  The travelling festival will stage appearances in 26 markets, and the full itinerary can be viewed HERE!

Five Finger Death Punch has released three consecutive RIAA gold certified albums through Prospect Park for sales exceeding 500,000 copies. The success of The Way of The Fist (2007), War Is The Answer (2009) and American Capitalist (2011), which debuted at number 3 on the Billboard charts in October 2011, exhibits the band as one of the few in the rock genre to consistently see significant sales both digitally and physically.  The band’s ten consecutive Top 10 radio hits – including 2012′s #1 hit ”Coming Down - have spawned cumulative single sales of over 4.2 million.  Going back to 2008’s “The Bleeding”, Five Finger Death Punch has consistently been one of the most heavily played bands at rock radio.

SLAYER's Official Statement Regarding Jeff Hanneman's Passing; Cause Of Death Revealed!

Here is SLAYER's official statement regarding the passing of Jeff Hanneman.
Hanneman passed away one week ago of liver failure at the age of 49.

"While the details are being worked out now, Slayer wants its fans to know that there will be a celebration of Jeff Hanneman's life sometime later this month, along with Jeff's family and friends, the public will be invited to attend. More information will be posted here soon.

"Kerry King and Tom Araya are trying to deal with the loss of their brother by remembering some the good times they shared."

KERRY: "I had so many great times with Jeff...in the early days when we were out on the road, he and I were the night owls, we would stay up all night on the bus, just hanging out, talking, watching movies...World War II movies, horror movies, we watched "Full Metal Jacket" so many times, we could practically recite all of the dialogue."

TOM: "When we first formed Slayer, we used to rehearse all the time, religiously, 24/7. Jeff and I spent a lot of time hanging out together, he lived in my father's garage which was also our rehearsal space. When he got his own apartment, he had an 8-track and I would go there to record songs I'd written, not Slayer songs, other stuff I'd written. At a certain point, you still have the band but you start your own lives outside of the band, so that 24/7 falls to the side, you don't spend as much time together as you once did. I miss those early days."

KERRY: "He was a gigantic World War II buff, his father served in that war, so when Slayer played Russia for the first time - I think it was 1998 - Jeff and I went to one of Moscow's military museums. I'll never forget him walking around that place, looking at all of the tanks, weapons and other exhibits. He was like a kid on Christmas morning. But that was Jeff's thing, he knew so much about WW II history, he could have taught it in school."

TOM: "We were in New York recording South of Heaven. Jeff and I were at the hotel and we had to get to the studio - I think it was called Chung King, a real rundown place. So we left the hotel and decided to walk, but then it started raining. We walked maybe five blocks, and it was raining so hard, we were totally soaked, so we decided to get a cab. Here we are, two dudes with long hair and leather jackets, absolutely soaked, thumbing to the studio. No one would stop. We had to walk the entire way."

TOM: "Jeff was a lifeline of Slayer, he wrote so many of the songs that the band will always be known for. He had a good heart, he was a good guy."

*****

"We've just learned that the official cause of Jeff's death was alcohol related cirrhosis. While he had his health struggles over the years, including the recent Necrotizing fasciitis infection that devastated his well-being, Jeff and those close to him were not aware of the true extent of his liver condition until the last days of his life. Contrary to some reports, Jeff was not on a transplant list at the time of his passing, or at any time prior to that. In fact, by all accounts, it appeared that he had been improving – he was excited and looking forward to working on a new record."

Dave Lombardo Remembers His Friend & Bandmate Jeff Hanneman!

One week ago, the Heavy Metal world suffered together as one when we all got the sad news that Slayer guitarist and founding member Jeff Hanneman passed away of liver failure at the age of 49. His friend and former bandmate Dave Lombardo paid tribute to Hanneman via the following post:

"Jeff was the guy that shaved his head and shared the music he was so inspired by. I enjoyed Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, Black Flag and The Germs with him. My drumming was getting faster and Jeff was writing original songs with a punk attitude. The fusion of Heavy Metal and Punk took over Slayer’s early mediocre style, hence a new force was born.

"Thank you, Jeff, for your inspiring discovery of Punk Rock that has continued to shape my personal drumming style."

Joining them for a very special mini PANTERA jam, were Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown who performed "This Love" with the rest of ANTHRAX (who were joined by Jon Donais from SHADOWS FALL on lead guitars). It was the first time that Phil and Rex jammed to some PANTERA music since the bands untimely demise in 2001. Here is footage of this historic moment:

Knowing our fans around the planet recognize that venue for many legendary metal moments, and of course with JUDAS PRIEST being a British metal band it was the perfect gig for us to film and record. Big thanks as always to you our metal family of fans — so start banging your heads one more time with us as we scream together 'The PRIEST is back!'" - JUDAS PRIEST

We're keeping the sites quiet for now whilst the guys are in the studio - more details to be announced soon!"

Heavy Metal's Replacement For Pope Benedict XVI Has Been Unleashed In Rome!

As Pope Benedict XVI steps down because he is not Metal enough. For real, what a quitter! We smell some conspiracy lined up by the Catholic church, but lets not even go there. Rome, Italy, is ready to welcome the NEW Pope. While Ian Fraser "Lemmy" Kilmister from Motörhead would be a great candidate, Lemmy is god so he wasn't considered for the Vatican's unholiest position. Then we got Robert John Arthur "Rob" Halford from Judas Priest, but Halford is the Metal God. And while John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne would make the Vatican go "fucking crazy", Ozzy is the Prince Of Darkness and that might be too controversial for the super sacred Catholic church (note our sarcasm).

So after many hours of deliberating a group of Metallic Cardinals that wear leather and spikes instead of some wacked uniform, have announced that the NEW Pope is:

Kim Bendix Petersen, also known as our holiness King Diamond! Born in Copenhagen, Denmark on June 14, 1956, he is at the perfect age to become the 267th Pope and with his heart fixed he is ready to reign in blood for many years (not like the quitter dude who just retired). Please welcome Kim Bendix I to the Vatican. His first order of business as the NEW leader of the Catholic Church is to headline a massive live concert at the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran at the ecclesiastical Province of Rome! His special guests: Motörhead, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath WITH Bill Ward, Slayer, and Testament. Oh, and we can't forget Metal Church. Now get off your knees and start headbanging!

He has also announced that from now on priests and nuns can have as much sex as they want and the NEW testament will be rewritten by Kim Bendix I! About bloody time! Get it?

As previously reported, KING DIAMOND, BOLT THROWER, TESTAMENT and CHILDREN OF BODOM have all been confirmed for this year's Tuska festival! Finland's Heavy Metal fest will take place between June 28-30 in Suvilahti, Helsinki, Finland. It has also been announced that "The King" will be Friday night's closing performance at Bloodstock Open Air 2013! This memorable event marks not only their first-ever U.K. festival appearance, but their first U.K. show of any kind in many years and will be their only U.K. date in 2013!
