BATTLECROSS Needs Your Help Funding Their Dream Tours!

Michigan's BATTLECROSS (the Blue Collar Trash Metallers) keep proving to everyone that they have a brilliant future ahead. Not only do they display hard hitting musical vibrations that make ANY room shake, but they absolutely possess the right mind set and attitude to be a force to be reckoned with in the Heavy Music planet. But as an upcoming band, the money to fund bigger and better tours is simply not there. This is why they need your help funding the basic costs that a touring band requires. Read on...
"BATTLECROSS is a Heavy Metal Thrash band of five hard-working guys from Detroit and we're honored by the friendship and support from all of you. We're proud that you like our music and buy our merch and your support is paying off in so many ways with these great tours and opportunities that we've landed. We owe it all to you! We were signed to Metal Blade Records in 2011 and have released one album, 'Pursuit of Honor', which has produced singles that have ranked #1 and the top ten of most requested metal tracks in North America on SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
"We're on the verge of some VERY big things---events that every Heavy Metal band has dreamed of. In the next few months, we'll be playing with bands like Anthrax and Hatebreed at the New England Metal Fest in April, at Orion Music + More with Metallica and Red Hot Chili Peppers in our home town of Detroit in June, and we were just announced to play a tour that could really give our band the break that we've been working towards for our whole life: the 6th Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest with Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Machinehead, Amon Amarth and some of the most popular acts in hard music today.
"The Mayhem Fest tour lasts 30 days and will take us all over the United States of America. The week that the tour starts, we will be releasing our NEW album, our follow up release to 'Pursuit of Honor'. This is a crucial time for the band, with the expenses associated with recording on a small recording budget, and the cost of going on a tour of this magnitude, we need to be in a position to afford to do this. We no longer can hold jobs at home, so we must work to make music our career.
"We've made great sacrifices to make BATTLECROSS grow, much like the sacrifices and stories of perseverance that we convey through our lyrics and energetic style. We've lost jobs, sold personal items, and have done whatever it took to make our dreams come true. This tour is no different!
"Touring is very expensive. On our last tour, we spent almost $10,000 in gas alone. After the tour, we traveled straight to Florida for six weeks (where we are now) to record the next album and have incurred a lot of expenses getting our members to and from the studio, while bringing in no income.
"This tour will be even more difficult as we are a NEW band and our per-show guarantees still don't cover the costs of the $1,000 + needed per day for gas/transportation, the required liability insurance ($1,000+), the cost of a small crew to help on this size of a production ($3,000), buy our merch, merch tent, our personal and band monthly bills, advertising and more will cost the band upwards of $50,000 or more to go on this tour. We've committed to $25,000 ourselves between the nightly guarantees and our merch sales, but as a NEW band, we can't count on merch sale income, especially when we're playing with so many awesome bands. We'll need to raise the rest!
"But if you know us, you know that the thought of coming up with the remaining $25,000 won't stop us from taking this amazing opportunity. This tour will give us the exposure, fan base and attention that could launch us into a global band with a dream career and we'll do whatever it takes to get there!"

Lars Ulrich Talks About Orion Music + More & Getting Punched At A BLACK FLAG Concert!
Lars Ulrich is the mastermind behind METALLICA's annual festival "Orion Music + More" (full details HERE). Love him or hate him, Ulrich is one of the smartest business man in our music. This year the event will take place in Detroit, Michigan during the weekend of June 8-9, 2013." Our friends from Revolver Magazine recently chatted with Ulrich about this years massive musical event, a few excerpts of the interview follow:
REVOLVER: What are your favorite memories from last year’s Orion Music + More Festival?
LARS ULRICH: That whole experience I had in my film tent. It was just so cool to show movies to 300 Metallica fans and do Q&As with the directors and the producers. I also enjoyed getting a chance to play Ride the Lightning and doing the “Black Album” thing in its entirety, which was the only time we did it in America. And just hanging and being part of the scenery for a couple days.
I had fun seeing the bands, too, in the various tents, from the Hot Snakes to the Jim Breuers of the world. Seeing Avenged Sevenfold and The Sword and Sepultura and Arctic Monkeys. I got a chance to introduce the Arctic Monkeys, which was really cool, because I have a 14-year-old kid who worships the ground that the Arctic Monkeys walk on. So I actually was a pretty cool dad for a couple minutes when I introduced them.
Which artists are you most excited to see this year?
I saw the Chili Peppers in San Francisco about six months ago. They’re on a fucking roll at the moment. They’re better than they’ve ever been. I was completely blown away for two hours. We did a run with the Deftones in 2003 on our Summer Sanitarium Tour, which was really cool. Those guys are always good. Dropkick Murphys, those guys are so much fun and have so much energy. [Laughs] There’s such a positive vibe in what they do. Bringing in the 2013 incarnation of Black Flag, minus the “Black,” is obviously going to be pretty fun. My 14-year-old has turned me on to Japandroids, and I’ve heard some of their stuff, which is pretty amazing. I’ve become kind of a late fan of Fu Manchu. My girl actually turned me on to them a little while ago, so I’m a brand new fan of theirs. I’m glad that they’re with us. You know, [proto-punk band] Death. [Laughs] We’ll have Death come out and do their thing in Detroit again! And the Dillinger Escape boys. Lots of different stuff.
You mentioned Flag. Did you ever see Black Flag during their original run?
Yeah, we did. We actually saw them in New Jersey around ’84 or ’85. That was a very special night, because up ’til now—I’m not saying it won’t happen again—but up ’til now, that’s the only time I’ve been hardcore punched. We were hanging out at the Black Flag gig, and one of the bouncers asked us to leave. And I gave him a pretty obnoxious remark back, and the motherfucker just hit me hard in the stomach. And my stomach sort of caved around his fist. That’s the other thing I remember about that night other than seeing Black Flag.
Will you be playing any of your classic albums this year? Find out HERE!

DRAMA ALERT: Marilyn Manson Lashes Out At Rob Zombie - Rob Zombie Makes Public Statement & We Have It!
Last night, Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie certainly didn't play nice with each other at the DTE Energy Music Theater, in Detroit, Michigan (the ninth stop of a 36-city "Twins of Evil Tour.")
Manson and Zombie appear to have a serious beef with each other after Manson accused his fellow co-headliner of cutting his set short. Rob Zombie has reacted with the following statement:
"As stupid as this all is, I feel I must clear things up a little better. First off, I want to thank all the fans who came out in the freezing cold in Detroit last night. It was a total blast as always.
"Unfortunately things turned ugly backstage. Why? I don't know, but for some reason our touring partner (Marilyn Manson) decided to end his set by blaming me for something that I had nothing to do with and screaming he was going to "kick Rob Zombie's ass as soon as he got off stage".
"Go figure. I was backstage hanging, watching the show thinking "hey this is gonna be a great night", when suddenly he starts screaming threats. So strange. I don't get it. Christ, I've known some of his crew for 20 fucking years and some of his crew used to work for me. It's all good. No one would fuck with someone's show. It is ridiculous.
"Well, of course I felt the need to respond to the " kick my ass remark". Who wouldn't? Although I wish I had kept it backstage and kept the fans out of it. It is all 4rd grade fight after school nonsense of which I have never dealt with on tour before. Co-headlining tours always go smooth because everything is cut 50/50 and I mean everything. No one fucks with anyone's show. It is even fucking Steven.
"I've done it co-headlining tours many times before and have had no troubles. Not with Pantera, Slayer, Alice Cooper, Korn, Megadeth or anyone ever. So I didn't expect any troubles on this. It seemed like a great idea at the time.
"But shit happens. Anyway, sorry to the fans who had to dealt with the embarrassing stupidity of it all. We are all there for the same reasons to give you the best show ever… that's it."

BATTLECROSS: Full Band Interview At Metal Blade Records' 30 Year Anniversary Show In New York City!
Last week, Michigan's BATTLECROSS (the Blue Collar Trash Metallers) joined AS I LAY DYING in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Metal Blade Records. The event took place at Santos Party House in New York City, and the band proved to everyone that was present and to those watching at home via a live webcast, that they have a brilliant future ahead. Not only do they display hard hitting musical vibrations that make ANY room shake, but they absolutely possess the right mind set and attitude to be a force to be reckoned with in the Heavy Music planet.
After a very successful run at these years TRESPASS AMERICA Festival, the band is entering their rehearsal space to begin writing the follow up to 2011's 'Pursuit Of Honor' (available now via Metal Blade Records).
Prior to the bands special performance, we had the chance to chat with the BATTLECROSS boys about how the last year has changed their lives thanks to the record deal they landed with Metal Blade Records and the numerous tours they have been part of. We also discussed the overall thinking process of the band as a whole after an extensive learning process of what to do and not to in the music world. Additionally, we spoke about the bands recent appearance at the 2012 TRESPASS AMERICA FESTIVAL and we obviously touched upon Metal Blade Records' 30 years of Heavy Metal domination. Stop what you are doing right now and check this interview out!

Local Band Plays With Fire = THE CONTORTIONIST & Jeff Loomis Are Forced To Cancel Tour Date In Lansing, MI
Here’s a few accounts of what happened according to a few Facebook users (kept anonymous):
“So, these are the ASSUMPTIONS I’ve gathered from tonight’s show and what went down. There was an adjoining room where local bands were playing in between the nationals, and one of the bands who I won’t name was breathing fire, and pouring fuel on the floor and lighting shit on fire, so the smell got in the air ducts and the entire place reeked of lighter fluid. During the band’s set, people in the pit were getting unnecessarily violent and a few people ended up bloody. Even the owner of the venue was attacked. So, the tour manager felt it was no longer safe for the bands to be there so they packed up their shit. This is all word of mouth. The only thing I saw was bloody and angry people and all I could smell was lighter fluid so I walked outside. Now said band and the promo company is telling everyone on the event page that they are all faggots and pussies. Real nice. Don’t think I’ll ever go to a show there again…”
“Some band from Flint somehow ended up playing in between 7H7E (7 Eyes 7 Horns). They over-ran by like 30 minutes, and when the sound guy tried to unplug them, a bunch of dudes threatened to kick the shit out of him. Some guys got beaten up, there were baseball bats (apparently) and barbed wire. Some kind of “gang” thing. Fuckin sketchy as hell.”
“So thanks to King for beating the shit out if everybody and making The Contortionist and everybody leave. Go sell crack in Flint and stay out of Lansing. You ruined a night that was supposed to top them all…”
“Thanks a lot, King; you and your douchebag fans used pyrotechnics (the smell of kerosene was overwhelming) and your lust of fighting, which led to Loomis (Jeff Loomis) not being able to play.”
“Very unfortuante what went down in Lansing tonight, it was suppsoed to be a great show and a party to celebrate the new The Contortionist album release, instead we get a shitty local band named “KING” ruining it for everyone by doing pyros and starting bloody fights, the tour manager decided to cancel the whole show for security reasons :(“
Meanwhile, Chimp Spanner apologizes to all the fans like a sir:
"Just a quick message to all of you who traveled to Lansing to see us tonight – we’re absolutely gutted the show couldn’t happen. The safety of the bands, and you all, comes first. We will be at Blondies on August 5th, so if you can come (again) it’d be great to see you and have a belated beer or two with you all. Thanks for being so cool about it, and especially to those of you who still managed to walk away with a tee shirt or two. ♥ you guys!x"
King's apology:
"We apologize to everyone that didn’t get to see the acts after us. However the problems that any well to do security staff could have easily defused were minor ie. no serious injuries etc. and we’re confused why the whole show was stopped because of one incident. PEACE"

MC5's Michael Davis Dead At 68 - Rock In Peace!
Yesterday (February 18), it was announced that Michael Davis, the legendary bassist of MC5, passed away this past Friday, February 16, of live failure at the age of 68. Davis died at the Enloe Medical Center in Chico, California after receiving a month-long treatment for liver disease. He is survived by his wife, Angela Davis, as well as three sons and a daughter. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, his friends, his band mates, and his fans!
In 1964, while studying fine art in Michigan, Michael Davis was recruited by Detroit's own MC5. Without thinking twice, Davis quit school and joined MC5! MC5 political fueled music was heavily influenced by poet John Sinclair, whose affiliation with the White Panther Party (a radical-leftist anti-racist group) inspired the band’s political energies. The bands first album entitled 'Kick Out the Jams' was released via Elektra Records in 1969.
In 1972, MC5 called it a day and as a result Davis joined Ron Asheton (The Stooges) on the band Destroy All Monsters. In 2004, he rejoined forces with MC5 for a legendary tour. Additionally, Davis co-founded the non-profit "Music is Revolution Foundation", which supports music education in public schools.
