Trevor Strnad from THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER recently posted the following statement on his bands Facebook page in regards to illegal downloading in anticipation his bands NEW album 'Everblack' (available this June via Metal Blade Records): "HOW IT IS: We have almost 1,000,000 likes on here. Will we sell 1,000,000 copies of 'Everblack'? Fuck no! The reality is that 98% of you ‘fans’ are going to be content to steal the album and in turn we get nothing… a laughable fragment of the ‘likers’ will actually be cool and pick it up.
"It’s not about the money, the reality is that we get chump change for CD (and digital) sales BUT WE NEED TO SELL THEM TO EXIST! If there are no record sales the music industry will stomp us out like a bug and it’ll be completely over… the sales show them ‘how relevant’ we are.
"If you don’t buy the albums they’ll determine that there is no demand for TBDM, and there won’t be any more awesome concerts, tours, DVDs nor new music. Sure we understand you may really love our tunes, but if you haven’t paid for them, it’s a total loss to us… all the love in the world isn’t going to mean shit in the end. We need your support and every two years I am going to ask the same thing of you and make the same goddamn argument. "Think of it like a vote… If you’d like to see us continue our reign of terror over the Metal world, you’ll pick up a copy of 'Everblack'. It’s as simple as that.

Hellyeah! According to Blabbermouth, Denmark's VOLBEAT have locked themselves at a recording studio to lay down tracks for their fifth studio album (set to be released this spring via Spinefarm Records/Universal Music). Titled "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies", the sessions are lead by Rob Caggiano (ex-ANTHRAX), alongside Jacob Hansen, who has a long history with VOLBEAT (he produced and mixed the band's prior four releases). Caggiano's producer credits include CRADLE OF FILTH, THE DAMNED THINGS, BLEEDING THROUGH, and of course ANTHRAX's 'Worship Music'.
"We're back in the studio, this time breaking some of our old habits
and this sometimes means leaving our comfort zone", commented Michael Poulsen (VOLBEAT frontman).
" We are recording in a
new environment, producing with a new setup, breaking new sonic ground
and it's exciting! Together with our longtime collaborator Jacob Hansen, we also have the honor of having producer Rob Caggiano
on board in the producer's seat. Expect lots of surprises and some of
our most rocking heavy songs to date. We feel more than ever that we are

The band has just announced that their sixth studio album, which should see the light of day this June, is entitled 'Everblack'. The band is currently tracking drums with producer Eyal Levi (DAATH, WHITECHAPEL, SIX FEET UNDER) in Detroit, Michigan. The vocal and guitar parts will be recorded at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida, with producer Jason Suecof at the helm. The reigning kings of the Big Four, METALLICA, are currently locked
up at their headquarters in
San Rafael, California recording a brand NEW album. In the January 2013 issue of Metal Hammer magazine, this is what the bands drummer/visionary Lars Ulrich had to say about the new songs:
"The stuff that
we were banging out yesterday, it felt heavy, it felt energetic, it was
loud, it was fast, it was rocking, it was crazy. The snare drum was on
there and there were guitar solos, in case anybody was wondering." He
added: "What we're doing now certainly sounds like a continuation of
where we left off four years ago."
Once the bands 10th studio album is completed, it will be released via the band's NEW record label Blackened Recordings.

When asked about how far along is the band with the writing of the NEW album, James Hetfield said: "I only have 846 riffs. In iTunes, you can see how many things you've got. And that does not include the soundchecks, the stuff we goof around with here. You plug in an amp. Suddenly it makes you feel good — you come up with a riff. 'Dude, did you get that?' You can't get away from being recorded here."
Apparently a NEW METALLICA song called "Darkness" has surfaced over the Internet, while we can't confirm if this song is part of their upcoming album, we can confirm that the song kicks ass! Crank it now before it gets taken down!
UPDATE: This is an EVILE song! We will have to wait patiently for NEW METALLICA tunes!
On Thursday, August 2, METALLICA celebrated James Hetfield's 49th birthday in Mexico City. At the end of the concert, which was the fourth show of the band's eight-date run at Palacio de los Deportes (Sports Palace), Hetfield for pied in the face in a sign of appreciation for 49 years of rocking!

You heard it here first in mid April, but now the details have been revealed for HATEBREED's upcoming “10 Years of Perseverance” fall tour, a United States headline tour to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the band’s ground-breaking 2002 major-label debut, 'Perseverance'. The tour features direct support from Whitechapel and special guests All Shall Perish and Deez Nuts, and kicks off on September 13th in Clifton Park, NY.
'Perseverance' is recognized worldwide as a landmark album in HATEBREED’s musical catalog—an album that skyrocketed the band to immediate leader-of-the-pack status after its release. Released on March 26, 2002, the band’s second full-length studio album blasted open the doors of American DIY Hardcore in mainstream culture with songs such as "I Will Be Heard", "A Call For Blood" and the album's title track, "Perseverance". HATEBREED recently announced that they are in the studio self-producing their upcoming full-length album with co-producer assistance from world-renowned Metal producers Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Avenged Sevenfold, Gojira) and Chris “Zeuss” Harris (Suicide Silence, All That Remains, Shadows Fall).
The band just reported that they have finished the drum tracks. When asked about the recording process, drummer Matt Byrne said, “I got the biggest and best drum tone ever for this NEW album and Zeuss really helped me dial in the sound. Having 25+ days of pre-production really helped make this an efficient and fun recording session.”
HATEBREED has also expanded on their 2012 European tour plans. See below for updated touring information and stay tuned for more band updates coming soon.

context of, say, the age of planet Earth, we're pretty close. But in the
context of, say, other things, there may be one or two football
seasons, or one or two baseball seasons, or one or two hockey seasons…
We've gotta do this movie,
and we're gonna get back to writing when we've done this movie. I would
say late '13 or early '14. It's difficult to imagine… I think even late
'13 may be a bit optimistic. I would say hopefully we can realistically
get a record out probably about a year and half from now, so maybe
early '14."

The METALLICA machine never stops! For the past 3+ years, the Kings of Thrash Metal have been busy touring the entire world in support of their night studio album 'Death Magnetic' (released on September 12, 2008 via Warner Bros.). While the band still has numerous tour dates planned (dates below), both James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich updated their devoted fan base about the bands 10th studio album. This are some excerpts of an interview that METAL HAMMER magazine conducted with the two Metal icons.
Lars Ulrich: "We're circling the NEW stuff. We've started writing a little more in stages. There's so many projects that we do all the time. When we wrote the 'black album,' we started writing it and we finished writing it without anything else [going on] — it was three months, boom. We don't do it like that anymore. We'll write for awhile and we'll go to Brazil and then we'll come back and go do a week's worth of shows with Lou Reed, and then we'll write for two weeks and then we'll pick our noses and we'll do something else and then we'll play the Fillmore, you know what I mean? So it's difficult to be cohesive in an interview about it. I don't really have any direction yet, and I've heard most of it. It sounds heavy and energetic and very Metallica-like, but whether it's more like 'Death Magnetic' or more like this or that, I don't know."
About who will be producing the NEW METALLICA album:
James Hetfield: "He's a different kind of producer. He's challenging. He's a very cut-and-dried, to-the-point kind of producer, but he's also very open, and open to lots of ideas. He does have lots of great ideas of his own as well. But I think that the main thing for us was getting to the core and essence of Metallica, and that's the reason we chose to work with him. He gets the best out of artists that have been around for a while, I believe. And he helps you get back to that essence. That's what we wanted him for."
Lars Ulrich: "Rick is a lot about creating comfort and atmosphere and a vibe, and right now that's kinda how it's looking. We haven't sat down and gone to the next level on direction and practical elements and all that type of stuff. I saw Rick in L.A. two weeks ago and we talked about him coming up to San Francisco in March or April to start talking about the process, but as you know, we've got another couple of balls in the air with our movie and live dates and the Orion festival. It never ends, and right now some of these balls are quite time-consuming. Rick is not a one-trick pony; he builds a particular ease around whatever your task is, so I think whatever we want to do for this next record, he will help us with that, whatever it may be."
METALLICA have 10 more European dates before their two day festival: "Orion Music + More", which is scheduled for June 23-24 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. They are also in talks with Rick Rubin to produce their tenth studio album at some point this year.

In a historical twist of events, METALLICA will be performing six back-to-back shows in Mexico City show after their five previous shows sold out in a matter of minutes! Heavy Metal's biggest band, will be performing at the Sports Palace in Mexico City on August 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, and 9. Additionally, the band will be unveiling their NEW stage: a 140x50-foot stage that features colossal components and striking visual elements spanning Metallica's 30-year career.
Arizonian Metallers FLOTSAM AND JETSAM have good news for their devoted fan-base. The band has announced that they are "four songs into pre-production" for their NEW album! Their 11th studio album is tentatively due in late 2012/early 2013. The band is hoping to complete all songs by the middle of the summer.
Get this, the band has funded their album via the PledgeMusic.com project, which encourages fans to contribute funds to the recording of albums and the artists themselves to donate to charity as a part of their fundraising.
The dudes over at Metal Injection caught up with Clown, aka M. Shawn Crahan at SXSW, right before he hosted a Q&A session for his NEW photo book, 'The Apocalyptic Nightmare Journey', out June 19th. Crahan discusses how the book came about and addresses all the recent controversy about the future of Slipknot. Here are some excerpts from the interview.
"I can clear it up easily for you. Everyone in the band is writing all the time. Whether it's a micro-cassette recorder or a memo on your iPhone or Corey writing random things he invents in his head on a piece of paper or Joey saying 'I got nothing to do, I'm gonna go in the studio with all these ideas. I'm going to rent out a studio for a month and a half and I'm going to fucking write.'
"I think what people don't understand about what's being said is that we're all dealing with Paul's death differently. Some want to move, some want to take time. But basically, what's being said is of course things are being written. But nothing is done because we're not together yet. And there is no reason to get together to talk about it because there are other things moving, like the grieving process.
"Stone Stour is going to go out and do their thing, which they should. They've earned it. It's a good thing. Just me down here at SXSW, I'm the only guy here, doing something. I should be allowed to have this outlet.
"Really, what it all comes down to is that, yes, writing is being done seriously every day, but it is going to be a while. It's just going to be. There's things going on. It gets a little perverted in the press, almost like 'he says yes, he says no, we got a problem.' It's more like, yeah, writing is going on but it's going to be a while, and both of them are telling the truth, and I'm here to tell you, we're not going nowhere!"

America's reigning kings of brutality, CANNIBAL CORPSE, will unleash their twelfth studio offering this March via Metal Blade Records. Aptly titled 'Torture', the follow-up to 2009's 'Evisceration Plague' offers up 12 tracks of maniacally precise, soul-searing Death Metal. Torture was again produced by Hate Eternal's Erik Rutan at his own Mana Recording Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida as well as Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, and features the maniacal cover art by longtime CANNIBAL CORPSE artist, Vincent Locke, viewable below.
While 'Torture' marks the latest progression in the band's sound, it also witnesses a return to what drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz accurately terms "the frenzied attack of 'Butchered At Birth' (1991) or 'Tomb Of The Mutilated' (1992)," infusing the band's advanced musicianship with the raw savagery that haunted their earlier releases, and in the process conceiving the definitive CANNIBAL CORPSE record. Adds bassist Alex Webster on the outcome of the record: "We're extremely happy with how 'Torture' turned out. Erik Rutan did an amazing job with the production, and the songwriting and performances may be our strongest yet. We can't wait until our fans get to hear the whole thing!"

As a precursor to the release, CANNIBAL CORPSE will perform a special one-off show at the Culture Room in West Palm Beach, Florida on January 22nd then head to the seas to take part in this year's edition of the '70,000 Tons Of Metal' Cruise. The band will get a short break before a near month-long march through Europe on the 'Full Of Hate' 2012 tour with labelmates Behemoth.

Norwegian Avant-garde Metallers BORKNAGAR have finalized mixing duties for their upcoming studio album with Jens Bogren at acclaimed Fascination Street Studios (Opeth, Paradise Lost, Katatonia, etc.) in Sweden, and they have now checked-in to announce that the long awaited NEW effort will be titled 'Urd' and is to be released on March 26th, 2012 in Europe as well as March 27th, 2012 in North America via Century Media Records.
BORKNAGAR's mastermind Øystein G. Brun has checked-in with the following message:
"Well, our new album 'Urd' was finished in mid-December and all in all we spent about 6 months to record, produce and mix it. In the 'Bork-World' this isn't really long, but I can assure you that we have never before invested so much time, energy and effort into one single production. It has been a tough, yet inspiring ride. Since June 2011 I have constantly been working with this album, recording, editing and so forth - day and night. The same goes for my comrades, never before have we made an album where everybody in the band has been so heavily involved and dedicated as this time around. 'Urd' is surely the peak of our musical journey so far and we are extremely proud to have made this giant of an album! It's massive, it's emotional, it's fast, it's slow, it's epic, and it's progressive...all the ingredients that we have crafted our musical world on! And not to mention the 'golden threesome' on vocals (Vintersorg, Mr. Vortex and Lazare) really shines on this album...Do I need to say more?!"
Furthermore, he explains the album title within the band's historical context as follows:
"Our previous album was called 'Universal' and where should we go after an album title with such a magnitude? Well, we decided to head back home to earth. We really wanted to get back to the core of the band, where it all started - the admiration and pondering about nature and mankind's place therein. 'Urd' is the name of one of the norns that according to northern mythology stands under Yggdrasill and weaves the lifeline of mankind. 'Urd' is representing the past, while 'Verdande' is representing the present and 'Skuld' is representing the future. You might very well say that this is an ancient expression of what we today know as DNA. And I have always been very fascinated by the fact that parts and bits of our DNA actually derive from the very beginning of time. All living creatures are somewhat connected to the very first organic cell. That is some of the story behind the album title..."

The members of French progressive Heavy Metal band Gojira, have entered a New York City studio to record their sixth studio album. This is great news for a band that has been dealing with some hard times lately.
At current time the band is without a label, and the hard drive where they had most of their new EP "Sea Sheperd" recorded crashed earlier this year. The highly anticipated EP is set to be released in early 2012, and it features guest appearances by Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad), Fredrik Thordental (Meshuggah), Randy Blythe (Lamb Of God), Anders Fridén (In Flames) and Max Cavalera (Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy, Sepultura).

"I've been about spirituality since the first album. It's hard to define what spirituality is, but it's more like getting closer to [oneself]. It's where each thing we do is sacred; not like going to a church or when you are with a dying person, but waking up in the morning… I've tried to take this dimension when I've written the music, like sometimes I don't even know what I'm going to sing and the words come out fluently. It's not a concept album like in the past, it's more about being spontaneous with feeling, and it's more true and honest."
