Members Of UNEARTH & FEAR FACTORY Talk About Future Plans, Evolution Of Metal & Mortal Kombat!

Two bands that understand that Heavy Music is in the middle of yet another evolutionary process are UNEARTH and FEAR FACTORY. After being two of the most popular bands in our genre for over a decade, both bands have made sure to remain relevant during this times of change by touring often and by writing great music. Paying dues is all part of making in the music industry, and all members of both bands truly understand that.
 
We recently caught up with Metal bro's Trevor Phipps (UNEARTH) and Matt DeVries (FEAR FACTORY) outside of Irving Plaza in New York City. During the interview we chatted about the evolution of Heavy Music, their bands future plans and we even talked about Mortal Kombat!

Machete's Favorite Band ASESINO Announces NEW Album Title; Band To Enter The Studio Soon!

Asesino (assassin in Spanish) is one of the most extreme Heavy Metal bands today. The chaotic combination of elements of Death Metal and Grindcore within their music can make a persons eardrums bleed profusely. Asesino was formed in 2002 after Dino Cazares (Fear Factory) left Brujeria and decided to create yet another extreme Metal band. Apart from Dino’s shredding guitars, Asesino features Tony Campos from Soulfly on vocals/bass and Emilio Marquez from Engraved on drums.

Tony Campos: Maldito X
Emilio Márquez: Sadístico

- Asesino usually performs Slayer covers live, most notably "Angel of Death" and "Raining Blood".

- Similar to Brujeria, the lyrics are all in Spanish and they deal with the same subject matters: death, violence, and perversion.

- Asesino enjoy making satirical comments during the show, and when they perform Brujeria songs, they change the original lyrics to something more fitting.

Dino Cazares Updates Fans On The Future Of DIVINE HERESY!

Dino Cazares, the riffmanufacturer, has issued the following update regarding the future of DIVINE HERESY:

"Hello, DIVINE HERESY fans. I just wanted to give you the latest news on DIVINE HERESY. 'Cause there are a lot of rumors out there on whats going on with DIVINE HERESY (HERE is what Tim Yeung told us). Well, only I can give you the truth.

"I have five songs written for the new CD. It's technical, brutal and melodic. Everything you would want from a DIVINE HERESY CD.

"I'm currently on tour with FEAR FACTORY for the rest of 2012 And part of 2013. When I'm off, I will complete the writing process and I will let you know who will be performing on the new CD.

"I am currently shopping for a new record company and have some surprising offers."

Bassist Joe Payne quit DIVINE HERESY in January 2011. Drummer Tim Yeung, who has been recording and touring with MORBID ANGEL for the past couple of years, is no longer a member of DIVINE HERESY. DIVINE HERESY frontman Travis Neal recently joined DIRGE WITHIN as the replacement for Jeremy "Jerms" Genske.

VEXT Announces NEW Bassist Search - Audition Information Available!

As previously reported Tommy Vext (ex-Divine Heresy & Snot) has a brand NEW project called VEXT. If you haven't heard it yet you might want to give your ears a chance to listen to a very fresh approach. The bands debut EP is called 'Impermanence' and its available now via all digital outlets.

Tommy Vext has just announced that bassist Andrew Jacobs has stepped down as the bands bass player. Here is Tommy's statement:

"Do to personal reasons (AJ) Andrew Jacobs has been forced to step down from his responsibilities as the bassist of Vext.

FEAR FACTORY Announce U.S. Dates For The World Industrialist Tour 2012!

Legendary Metal manipulators FEAR FACTORY are pleased to announce a U.S. headlining tour next month. Set to commence on August 1 in Fresno, California, the next segment of the "The World Industrialist Tour 2012" will pummel its way across the country and includes a stop at this year’s Juggalo Gathering in Cave In Rock, Illinois alongside Soulfly, Static X, DMX, Onyx, and George Clinton among others. Additional dates will be announced in the coming days. Tommy Vext Talks About How His Accident Gave Birth To 'Impermanence' & Apologizes To Dino Cazares!

Tommy Vext (ex-Divine Heresy & Snot) has a brand NEW project called VEXT. If you haven't heard it yet you might want to give your ears a chance to listen to a very fresh approach that is the result of Tommy's union with former members of MUTINY WITHIN and guitar monster Angel Vivaldi (listen below). The bands debut EP is called 'Impermanence' and its set to be released on July 3rd via all digital outlets.

Recently, the band presented their brand NEW sonic assault at their CD release show in New York City's Sullivan Hall. While the weather wasn't ideal for a Tuesday night show, the masses showed up ready to party and VEXT presented them with the perfect soundtrack.

'Impermanence' was mixed by Chris Clancy (formerly from Mutiny Within) at Colin Richardson's studio in the UK. The musical direction of the band combines elements of Pantera, Alice In Chains and Tool, but Tommy makes it clear that it is something NEW and risky. For the production of Tommy's vocals, the band were lucky enough to count with Disturbed's frontman David Draiman who coached Tommy throughout the entire process. Additionally, Tommy is an alumni from vocal coach Melissa Cross (considered the best in the business).

Once VEXT finished feeding the masses with their unique blend of music, we sat down to chat with Tommy about the inspiration behind 'Impermanence' and how his health scare in 2010 influenced his NEW musical project. He also publicly apologized to Dino Cazares (FEAR FACTORY, DIVINE HERESY & ASESINO) in hopes to patch up his relationship with the "riffmanufacturer" within the near future. Today (May 4th), and throughout the week, AOL Music will stream 'The Industrialist', the forthcoming NEW full-length from legendary futuristic Metal sorcerers FEAR FACTORY. Slated for North American release June 5, 'The Industrialist' is the second album written by vocalist Burton C. Bell and guitarist Dino Cazares since reuniting in 2009 after a seven-year split. FEAR FACTORY's eighth studio album 'The Industrialist' is out in Europe today (June 1st) and due in North America this Tuesday, June 5 via Candlelight Records. Once again the industrial Metallers have come up with a conceptual record based around a story written by vocalist Burton C. Bell. Lyrics to the album's ten songs divulge the narrative as discussed recently by Bell on the interview below. The album's artwork was created by American designer Anthony Clarkson with additional direction from the band. The album will be available on three formats — standard CD, a limited edition deluxe digi-book (featuring two additional songs), and 180-gram double vinyl.

'The Industrialist' follows the 2010 release of 'Mechanize'. Widely regarded, the album was the first release from FEAR FACTORY in six years. 'Mechanize' debuted on Billboard’s Top 100 album chart week of release and topped CMJ’s Loud Rock radio chart as programmers embraced the band’s triumphant return. Sirus XM and Headbangers Ball’s host Jose Mangin noted, “after Mechanize dominated 2010 as Liquid Metal’s Album Of The Year, North America is chompin’ at the bit to get an ear full of new FEAR FACTORY. I have no doubt that FEAR FACTORY are going to kick our collective asses in 2012.”

The Real Reason Why GENE HOGLAN Left FEAR FACTORY! And No, It Is Not Because Of TESTAMENT!

As previously reported, Los Angeles based Industrial Metal machines FEAR FACTORY recorded their NEW album 'The Industrialist' (set to be released on June 5th via Candlelight Records) without a drummer, and they recently recruited drummer Mike Heller from MALGINANCY and SYSTEM DIVIDE for their tour with SHADOW'S FALL, THE BROWNING, THE DEVASTED, and LEGACY OF DISORDER!

So what happened with Gene Hoglan? While there have been speculations that Hoglan left FEAR FACTORY in order to join TESTAMENT, we were told be a very reliable source that the real reason behind Hoglan's departure is that Hoglan will be rejoining DETHKLOK on an upcoming tour (yet to be announced). So it really comes down to Hoglan going for the gig that offers him the biggest pay check. We personally don't blame him at all!

While Hoglan recorded drums on TESTAMENT's upcoming album 'The Dark Roots Of Earth' and has been touring with the band ever since last years tour with ANTHRAX and DEATH ANGEL, no official confirmation has come from TESTAMENT's camp regarding Hoglan becoming the bands permanent drummer.

Last night, FEAR FACTORY's "riffmanufacturer" Dino Cazarez put away any rumors that Hoglan left the band in bad terms when he posted the following Twit:

"Hanging with Gene on the flight back from Chile"
