BREAKING NEWS: Fear Factory's bus catches FIRE

This morning the Fear Factory crew were literally in fear. After their sold out show in Northamptonshire, England they had an incident that could have caused them their lives. As they were driving on the M1 highway to Heathrow airport to drop someone of, their tour bus caught fire. The driver noticed some smoke on one of the back tires and immediately pulled over. He then grabbed the fire extinguisher and frantically attempted to put the fire out, but the flames were too big. He immediately told everyone to evacuate the bus, and when everyone thought they were all save, they realized they were missing a crew member. So without thinking twice, one of the friends of the band ran inside and saved his life.

Here is what guitarist Dino Cazarez had to say about the incident. (Courtesy of Blabbermouth):

"We just finished playing a sold-out show in Sheffield, England and we were on our way to London airport to drop someone off. Everyone was asleep except [for] two [members of the road] crew."

"At about 3:30 a.m. the bus driver noticed smoke coming from the back right wheel. He stopped, jumped out and noticed a flame underneath the wheel. He tried to extinguish it, but the flames were too much."

"Everyone was woken up by one of our crew members yelling to get everyone up and out of the bus. Everyone grabbed there bags and ran off the bus. We stood on the side of the freeway going, 'Thank god we all made it out' until someone noticed our merchandise guy was still asleep on the bus so our good friend ran back on the smoke-filled bus and got him out just minutes before the bus was completely in flames."

"Our eyes were burning and we were all coughing from the smoke. Some of us lost wallets, money, computers etc.. But that's not important compared to our lives."

"It only took about 20 to 30 minutes for the bus to be completely covered in flames."

"The fire trucks and the police finally arrived, but it was too late to save anything on the bus."

"I hope they saved our trailer with the gear."

"A coach bus picked us up and brought us to a nearby hotel."

"We found out early this morning that the trailer was saved and the bus is just a metal frame on the side of the road. They had to scrape up what was left of the bus from the road because it melted into the pavement."

We are very glad that no one got injured, and wish the Fear Factory crew an incident free remainder of the tour. Fear Factory is currently on tour for their latest epic album called "Mechanized". The band will be touring the United Kingdom and will also be performing at various European festivals. We recently saw them take over Irving Plaza in New York City, here is the review of the show.

This is FEAR FACTORY doing REPLICA at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey:

Letchworth: A Story of Perseverance

As sponsors of the "No Mercy Metal Showcase", we were asked to pick a band that we wanted to feature on Horns Up Rocks. Thanks to Letchworth's performance at Santos Party House, our decision was very easy to make. Not only can this band play a mean blend of Heavy Metal and Hardcore, but they are also a group of very interesting guys with a great story to share.

Letchworth consists of Josh Bynum (Vocals & Keyboards), Andy Parsons (Guitars & Vocals), Steve Wick (Guitars), Mike Rogers (Bass) and Tim Armstrong (Percussion). During their energetic performance at Santos Party House in New York City, they proved how important and relevant the upstate New York underground music scene is. We have seen plenty of upstate bands in the past and they always deliver furious music. As singer Josh Bynum mentioned, the scene in upstate New York is starting to gain strength again and a lot of new bands are making their presence be felt.

Influenced by bands like Hatebreed, Lamb of God and Killswitch Engage, Letchworth was started three years ago. After struggling to keep the band going after having two band members deployed overseas, they are ready to dominate the scene and make it stronger than ever. When many bands would have called it a day, Letchworth have stuck together through thick and thin. With the completion of their mission with United States Army, the band can now get busy playing shows and continue spreading their musical ferocity.

While overseas guitarist Andy Parsons brought with him a cheap guitar and a Pro Tools rig, so whenever he had some down time he would record song ideas. He would then use the chapels keyboard to write drum parts and bass lines. Then he would send his band members in Albany those song ideas via email, and the rest of the band would polish those ideas and fine-tune them into a song.

This is how they wrote the majority of their upcoming album, which is coming out sometime within the next few months. If you get a chance to catch this band live, don't even think twice. Your ear drums must experience a furious Letchworth show packed with adrenaline and great people. Here is an exclusive piece we created, which includes an interview with Josh and Andy from Letchworth.

Special thanks to Heather Lasky for her awesome pictures!
