Corey Taylor - X-M@$

Corey Taylor from Slipknot and Stone Sour has always pushed his craft to new levels. Ever since Slipknot came out, Taylor has reinvented his sound over and over again. While he can scream his flesh out, it is his harmonies that catch your ears attention instantly. Taylor is also one of the only artists in Heavy Music that is in two multi-million-selling bands.

Corey Taylor does not sleep much, because he can never stop creating music. On one of those sleepless nights, he decided to do a solo project that will be released on December 14 via Roadrunner Records. Today we bring you the first single from this upcoming release. The song is called X-M@$ and it is basically Taylor's rendition of a Christmas carol.

So why on earth did Taylor decide to release a Christmas single?

“I wrote this song in my kitchen one winter, listening to people bitch about the holidays. Personally, I love the holidays, but they seem to bring on severe stress in most people. So, I wrote this in honor of crotchety, drunken bastards who don't know the difference between a yuletide and a tool shed. Plus, I think it's funny.”

The track was recorded last month at Metropolis Studios in London when Taylor had some time off from Stone Sour's tour in the UK. The lyrics definitely showcase his sense of humor and he delivers a stick-poking at those who bitch about the holiday season.

However, Taylor’s humor doesn’t stop with the song words, as he drops a sneaky ‘Hi Simon!!’ at the end of the song, as a middle finger to Simon Cowell and his Xmas-hijacking X-Factor squad in the UK. Click to listen to this comical song now!

You can pick up the digital single from all leading digital retailers on December 14. Taylor will be donating proceeds from the song’s sales to Teenage Cancer Trust. Now that's METAL! \m/

Painted In Exile

The first time we experienced the musical power that Painted In Exile represents, it was clear to us that this band based out of Long Island New York, was geared for some head-crushing yet harmonious adventures. What really stands out about Painted In Exile is the energy and unpredictable musical passages that they take the listener on. One minute they are playing some furious Death Metal with very fast parts, the next minute they go into a Jazz interlude. And while all this has been done before, what really sets Painted In Exile apart, is the precision that vocalist Rob Richards possesses when he lays down his lyrics.

Additionally, the band features some very talented professional musicians which understand each musical part and never deliver a wrong note. The Murphy brothers, James on guitar and William on keyboards, combined with guitarist Marc Lambert, drummer Eddie DeCesare and new bass player Connor Larkin, take the listener into a musical joyride. Every part this musicians write, blends in perfectly with Rob's vocals, creating an spectacular potpourri of divine chaos. While Painted In Exile might be hard to understand at first, once you carefully listen to their EP titled "Revitalized", you will find yourself spinning in it over and over again.

While the band works on their full length album, which might be produced by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (Hatebreed, Madball, Shadows Fall, The Red Chord), here is their brand new video for their song "Revitalized". The video makes justice to the talent that makes Painted In Exile stand out from today's flood of mediocre bands. So prepare your ears and eyes to be Painted In Exile! \m/

Moshing Potatoes: Rock with your Cook out

What do Lita Ford, Max Cavalera (Soulfly & Cavalera Conspiracy), Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society), Alex Skolnick (Testament), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Andrew W.K., Mark Morton (Lamb Of God) and Johnny Kelly (Type O -) have in common? Yes, they are all part of famous Heavy Music bands. But we bet you had no idea that they know some pretty killer food recipes. How do we know? Well, they are all featured on a brand new book called "Mosh Potatoes" by Steve Seabury.

One thing that we all have in common, no matter where we come from or what music we like, is that we all love food. Specially during the holidays. Take Thanksgiving for example, the entire holiday is centered around eating a vast amount of food with our loved ones. Or how about when you go to a concert or to a sporting event? Part of the experience is to get a $10 hot dog and to pretend that its the best hot dog ever!

With "Mosh Potatoes", Steve Seabury is taking his career as a headbanger to another level, and not only did he write a kick-ass recipe book, but he also added a twist of his biggest passions: Food, Beer, and Heavy Music! Remember: Life without food, would be just as bad as life without Heavy "kick you in the face" Music! \m/

Here are some selected quotes from some of the artists involved in Steve Seabury's "Mosh Potatoes":

"Keep a copy of Mosh Potatoes in your kitchen and your guitar case to make sure your culinary desires are well tended to both at home and on the road" -Dave Ellefson (MEGADETH)

"Mosh Potatoes is the book to get your pit on, the BBQ pit! Killing in the kitchen!" -Bobby Blitz (OVERKILL)

"Mosh Potatoes is damn hot that Satan himself would get out of the kitchen!" -Morgan Lander (KITTIE)
