Two Years Since The Passing Of PETER STEELE - Tribute Available!
It has been two years since we got the terrible news of Peter Steele's passing from our good friend Juliya from Fuse TV. That gloomy night we were one of the first media sources to confirm the passing of Peter Steele. As soon as we posted this very sad news, we immediately got a Twit from former Headbangers Ball host Riki Rachtman. Riki just like all of us, was in complete disbelief about Pete's death. Specially after everyone had witnessed the return of Peter Steele in full force! His last performance in New York City with Type O Negative was absolutely flawless and there was no doubt that he was completely sober the day of his passing.
A day after his passing, we headed over to 3 Of Cups in New York City were there was an unofficial tribute for Peter Steele with some of his close friends and fans. The night was gloomy yet magical. Why magical? Well, the room was full of energy and everyone was embracing each other with respect, while chanting in unison to Carnivore's and Type O Negative's classics. This immediately inspired us to start recoding some sound clips about the legacy and greatness of Peter Steele. This is how our Peter Steele tribute was born.
In order to make our tribute memorable, we decided to contact some close friends of Peter, and ask them to contribute some images of Peter, Type O Negative and Carnivore. Here is what we came up with:
Then at the end of 2010, their was a show that inevitably became a tribute to Peter Steele. Joining forces for a celebration of New York Rock were Life Of Agony, Biohazard, Vision Of Disorder and Seventh Void. The show took place at the Best Buy Theater in New York City, and once again the magic was in the air. This is when we decided to get some clips. Next thing we know, it turned into another tribute to Peter Steele! Here are those video clips:
Finally, here is Biohazard doing their song "Loss" in memory of Peter Steele!
REST IN PEACE Peter, we miss and love you! Thanks for re-igniting the Heavy Music scene! \m/

VAN HALEN Premiere Music Video For "She's The Woman"!
Good Friday headbangers, below Van Halen are premiering the second single off their NEW album, 'A Different Kind of Truth', rolling out the single and video for “She’s The Woman.”
A fun and nasty rocker with a synchronized guitar/bass intro that nearly knocks you cold, “She’s The Woman” is an instant reminder that Van Halen can still work the heavy bag. This tune is one of six NEW songs that originated from older material from the seventies and is one of the most prototypical VH songs on the album. The driving riff is a cross between “Mean Street” and “Outta Love Again” and could have easily found a comfortable home on any early DLR-era material.
“A Different Kind of Truth,” (released Feb. 7th), marks the first original Van Halen studio album with Roth on the mic since “1984.” Read our review here. X Japan Wins "Best International Band" At The Revolver Golden Gods Awards!
X Japan took home the award for Best International Band Wednesday night at the fourth annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. With the members of Anthrax presenting the award, X Japan triumphed over internationally-acclaimed Rammstein (Germany), Lacuna Coil (Italy), Sepultura (Brazil), Behemoth (Poland), and Meshuggah (Sweden). X Japan was the first Asian band to ever receive a Golden Gods nomination, and joined this year's other winners that included Avenged Sevenfold, Slash, Korn, Nikki Sixx, Slipknot, Gene Simmons and Evanescence.
"Thank you Revolver, thank you so much for recognizing us," said Yoshiki, leader of X Japan who was present at the ceremony to accept the award.
"Some people might have heard of us, we're from Japan. We toured North America in 2010, and did our first world tour last year. Now we are finishing our first English album that will be released worldwide, and are planning another world tour soon. And to our beloved fans, thank you so much for your support, we are going to keep on rocking."
X Japan is one of the most successful Rock bands in Japanese history, having sold more than 30-million albums, singles and videos, and filled the 55,000-seat Tokyo Dome a record 18 times. The popularity of the band in Japan has made them a cultural phenomenon in music, fashion and business. X Japan made its North American debut at the 2010 Lollapalooza festival, and sold out their New York City debut at the famed Roseland Ballroom as part of their first American tour that same year. In 2011, they kicked off the European portion of their world tour by selling out Shepherd's Bush Empire in London within 30 minutes, and continued their sold-out tour by performing in Latin America and Southeast Asia.

JOHNNY DEPP Joins MARILYN MANSON At The Revolver Golden Gods Awards - Video Available!
Heavy Music history was written last night at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. Not only did the Revolver Golden Gods Awards welcome the elite of the music we all love, but the energy inside the sold out venue was incomparable. While there were many highlights at this successful event, it was actor Johnny Depp who added that extra flavor to the biggest Heavy Music award show in all of the America's.
Depp joined the "antichrist superstar", Marilyn Manson, on stage and with guitar in hand performed Manson's rendition of the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" and Manson's groundbreaking hit "The Beautiful People". While Manson seems to have lived his best years as a performer, Johnny Depp showed another one of his talents. That man can shred on guitar! Here is the evidence.
MARILYN MANSON is ready to once again infect the world with yet another NEW album. Entitled 'Born Villain, Manson's next musical conquest is set to be released on May 1 (one day earlier internationally) via Cooking Vinyl and Manson's own label Hell, Etc. The 4th Edition Of The Revolver Golden Gods Awards To Take Place Tonight In Downtown Los Angeles!
Today (April 11), America’s only Hard Rock and Heavy Metal award show will take over downtown Los Angeles! The fourth annual REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARD SHOW presented by Epiphone® will take at Club Nokia in Downtown Los Angeles. For the first time ever, the event will be broadcast live in its entirety on Xbox LIVE, as well as on the Xbox and Revolver Facebook pages.
Right before the official start of the show, PANTERA will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their landmark album, Vulgar Display of Power, with the worldwide debut of their first music video in 12 years, for the previously unreleased song, “Piss,” from the Vulgar recording sessions. PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul commented, “‘Piss’ is the only unheard complete Pantera track in existence. It was recorded at the same time as Vulgar Display of Power and it’s 100 percent Pantera with attitude and our signature groove! After mixing it, I can’t believe it didn’t make the record! HUNG AND GUITAR WORLD TEAM UP FOR THE PREMIERE OF "PROGENY" - Listen Now!
HUNG and Guitar World team up for the world premiere of "Progeny" off the upcoming self-titled debut out May 8th 2012 courtesy of The End Records and Chris Adler from Lamb of God’s label ReThink Records. The debut album features 10 punishing and sonically aesthetic tracks engineered and produced by Andy Abel and Lyris Hung at Abel Studios in Connecticut, with vocals tracked and produced by Ryan Kelly at MSR Studios and Nova Studios in New York City. Listen to "Progeny" below, courtesy of Guitar World.
HUNG violinist Lyris Hung says about "Progeny": “The song 'Progeny' is one of HUNG's most sonically diverse pieces, and one that shows off some of our most lyrical material. It's one of my personal favorites because it travels through many different musical landscapes… My approach to the violin lines are more traditional in a 'violinistic' way, allowing the instrument to take a lot of sweeping parts above the rest of the band and even the rhythm violin parts tend to be integrated with melody.”
HUNG is also proud to announce May 3rd as the date for the record release show and party at The Trash Bar in Brooklyn NY. Tickets are $15 at the door and include a free CD and T-Shirt. Doors open at 7:00pm with an open bar from 7:30 to 8:30pm.
HUNG is a five piece Metal band from New York City featuring Lyris Hung (Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Bryan Adams) on violin, ‘Evil’ Jon Clark on guitar, bassist Sam Roon, drummer Kenny Grohowski and singer Dmitry Kostitsyn. The band is gearing up for the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival as a main stage performer this year.

JOB FOR A COWBOY's 'Demonocracy' Out TODAY; NEW Behind-The-Scenes Video Available!
JOB FOR A COWBOY's long-anticipated NEW full-length 'Demonocracy' is out TODAY through Metal Blade Records. Produced by Jason Suecof (Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Trivium) at Audiohammer Studios, the complex Death Metal opus, tackles a host of political and economic themes and has already reaped the praise of fans and critics nationally. In a 4/5 rating, Alternative Press calls 'Demonocracy' "an ass-kicking, skull-cracking record," Hellbound commends the band for managing to “bend the ol’ familiar Death Metal formula their way and come up with something that is both invigorating and original,” while Stereokiller notes: “…a solid slab of some really heavy technical Death M etal. JOB FOR A COWBOY has separated themselves from former peers such as All Shall Perish and Whitechapel, and has now firmly fitted themselves with the likes of Suffocation and Dying Fetus." Metal Army America opines in an A+ review: "History was made with this album," while Craveonline agrees: "JOB FOR A COWBOY…produce ugly music for an ugly world. If art is a reflection of humanity, then JOB FOR A COWBOY are showing us a part of ourselves we don't want to see. The band's latest opus of ugly is 'Demonocracy' and once again they come out of the gate firing on all pistons."

Set for release on May, 8th, 2012, the record was produced by Dave Otero of Denver's Flatline Audio and sees the band exploring innovative NEW techniques in song writing without abandoning their signature formula of confrontational audio wreckage and self-loathing lyrical content.
Vocalist Travis Ryan adds: "We just returned from a great European tour where we played a ton of NEW songs which were received extremely well by everyone over there! So much so that we decided to premiere the second sample track of our NEW album 'Monolith of Inhumanity' on a European website for all our fans and the NEW fans we just made during this last tour! We had a blast and we hope you all get a kick out of the NEW track "Lifestalker". This NEW album is light years ahead of the rest of our albums and we look forward to coming back to Europe to decapitate you all with it!"
Check out Lifestalker at THIS LOCATION.
'Monolith Of Inhumanity' is an achievement that stands out as one of the most volatile, ambitious, and impossible to aptly categorize records you will hear in 2012. Dragging their ever-evolving deathgrind sound kicking and screaming into the epic territory inhabited by the likes of Dimmu Borgir and Anaal Nathrakh, the quartet redefine all perceptions of what CATTLE DECAPITATION is. With their seventh full-length, the band have never sounded more focused, aggressive, or manically determined to get in the faces of those who erroneously believe they've already experienced the band at their extreme best.
The 11-track 'Monolith Of Inhumanity' features a host of guests including Mike Majewski of Devourment (guest vocals on "Projectile Ovulation"), Lenard Leal of Cephalic Carnage (backing vocals by on "A Living, Breathing Piece of Defecating Meat"), The Cephalic Carnage Community Men's Choir, consisting of all current Cephalic members and alumni Jawsh Mullen and Zac Joe (gang choir vocals on "The Carbon Stampede"), and ambient and noise interludes by Los Angeles' most extreme decimator of sound, John Wiese, as well as another strikingly brutal cover by Wes Benscoter.

Learn To Pummel The Drums Like LAMB OF GOD's Chris Adler; “The Faded Line” Lesson Available!
DRUMmagazine.com has posted the latest article in its ongoing series that documents the skyrocketing career of LAMB OF GOD drummer CHRIS ADLER. In this installment, CHRIS ADLER offers professional drumming tips to help his fans navigate their way through “The Faded Line,” from LAMB OF GOD’s 2004 breakout release Ashes Of The Wake.
“It’s super easy for me to just go in there and do the straight 4/4 beat or whatever,” ADLER describes his role in the songwriting process. “But I try to get them to loop whatever it is, or record it for me, so I can take a minute and think about it, ’What else can I do with this? What’s interesting? What’s going to be fun for me to play for the next 18 months?’”
In addition to ADLER’s expert technical advice, the article includes a full note-for-note transcription of his ferocious drum part from “The Faded Line,” as well as streaming music, and a 3-D diagram of the drum kit he used to record Ashes Of The Wake.
Stay tuned for more updates on the features and future news about LAMB OF GOD!
