This just in. Glen Drover (ex-MEGADETH & KING DIAMOND) has announced his departure from Geoff Tate's version of QUEENSRŸCHE via the following statement:
"I am really sorry to say that I have decided to bow out of Geoff Tate's QUEENSRŸCHE.
I was very excited about doing this gig initially, but learned in the
past week or so that it's in my best interest not to do this right now. I
feel really bad for those who were excited about the idea, and to Geoff himself, who, I have to say, was very nice to me on my past trip to Seattle. I, of course, am very disappointed for arriving at this point, and
making this decision, to say the least. I sincerely wish the Geoff and the band all the luck on what they do in the future."
So what happened with Tate? This past June, QUEENSRŸCHE's Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson, Scott
Rockenfield and Parker Lundgren announced that they were parting ways
with singer Geoff Tate and recruiting powerhouse vocalist Todd La Torre
of CRIMSON GLORY (More info HERE).
Recently, the non Tate version of QUEENSRŸCHE unleashed a video teaser of their first recording with La Torre on vocals. Check it out HERE!

IllDisposed Announce Lineup Change!
Denmark Heavy Metal maniacs IllDisposed have announced that they parted ways with bassist Jonas "Kloge" Mikkelsen and have replaced him with Kussen (Danish for the "The Cunt"). Here is the bands Facebook statement:
"May we introduce our new bassplayer. He goes by the name of Kussen. That's Danish for "The Cunt".
"Unfortunately Jonas couldn't find the time to keep up with our activities anymore."
A band which slams into the Danish charts with each release, in 2012 ILL DISPOSED have reinvented themselves once again with their most brutal and straightforward album since 2008’s 'The Prestige'. The band’s impressive twelfth studio full-length 'Sense The Darkness' is all about uncompromising, groove-laden, contemporary Death Metal. Their raw, low-end sound thunders with ultra-slick production courtesy of engineer Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Heaven Shall Burn, Sick Of It All) at his Antfarm Studio, boasting nearly an hour of punishing NEW material.

ASHES WITHIN To Perform This Weekend In Brooklyn NY After Losing Their Gear To Hurricane Sandy!
Brooklyn, NY's ASHES WITHIN lost all of their to Hurricane Sandy. While the band could have thrown the towel, they decided to continue crushing senses. This Saturday, November 24th, they will be performing at the Knitting Factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, alongside with CAR BOMB and KASE REESE. If you like true underground Metal, you will be there!
What sets ASHES WITHIN apart? ASHES WITHIN plays brutal, honest music. They do not try to emulate a style, or fit into any particular arcane sub-genre of the Metal scene. Their songs are crafted for maximum visceral impact, whether it be simple or complex, harmonious or discordant. Their music is a collectively distilled response to both personal and global events. Things aren’t pretty out there, and they’re degenerating daily.
They feel like that the music they write is perhaps the only rational response to the things going on around. The world is gut-wrenchingly harsh and ugly much of the time; this ugliness has left many dead inside, hence the name ASHES WITHIN - so be it—their music stands as a rejoinder to that ugliness. Renowned in the fertile Brooklyn underground as one of the most violently cathartic acts in the scene, ASHES WITHIN are both feared and loved for their devastating stage performances.
RSVP here!

5 Ways To Make Your Thanksgiving More Metal!
We want to wish all of the U.S. headbangers a safe and Metallic Thanksgiving day! Please be safe!
Now, here are 5 tips that will make your Thanksgiving a lot more Metal!
1) If you are hunting down your own turkey, which we assume you all are, bring a bowl of corn in order to attract the turkey. Make sure the corn is dipped into any kind of alcoholic drink, this way the turkey will die nice and drunk. This will result in a happier and healthier turkey. You will thank us once you devour that animal!
2) If you are going to say grace before chow time, make sure you crank up Lamb Of God's song "Grace", since you want to make sure your food is blessed by the Metal Gods and/or Satan!
3) Planning on drinking responsibly? Blacktooths are perfect to drink both before and after the meal of the year! Here are the ingredients you need to make a proper blacktooth:
- Bottle of Crown Royal or Seagrams 7
- Bottle of Coca Cola
- Pantera shot glasses
Serve the whiskey into the shot glass (don't spill it you slob), then add a SPLASH of Coke into the whiskey. Finally, put back the entire shot in the name of Dimebag!
4) Drive safely! Thanksgiving week has the highest percentage of car accidents in the year. So please make sure you give yourself enough time to get to your destination, drive within the speed limit, and don't even think about drinking and driving!
Suggested bands to be crank up while driving:
- Black Sabbath
- Pantera
- Slayer
- Motorhead
- Machine Head
- Meshuggah
5) Eat a lot of protein to strengthen your body for the next show you attend, if you eat too many carbs (which you probably will), you will most likely get destroyed the next time you get in the pit. Thanksgiving doesn't HAVE to be a pig-out!
Heavy thanksgiving, from your friends at Horns Up Rocks!!!

NILE Premiere Music Video For "Enduring the Eternal Molestation of Flame"!
The reigning kings of technical historically-themed brutality, NILE, have posted the music video for “Enduring the Eternal Molestation of Flame”. You can now watch it below, courtesy of NoiseCreep.com. The clip was produced and directed by Jon Simvonis for Magnum Production Studios Co. and Arctos Broadcast Facilities. It also features the African Heritage group and photography by Philippos Kokkalis.
“It was truly an honor to direct the new NILE video; a band with so many diehard fans and such a strong impact in the Metal scene,” commented Simvonis. “The video concept, as a matter of fact, was inspired by the culture and the ritual habits of the Ancient Nubia, a region along the Nile River, which is located in northern Sudan and Southern Egypt. The research and design elements of the video led to a really interesting combination of the Ancient Egyptian myths, through the prism of the Nubian African Voodoo Burial rituals. Two worlds set so close, yet so far from each other.”
NILE will tour the United States once again this March and April with 28 shows supported by three of the best local bands in every market. NILE will play two massive sets with music spanning their prolific, twenty year career. Exclusive pre-sale tickets are available now at http://www.enterthevault.com/.
“In order to commemorate our 20th year as a band,” states guitarist/vocalist Karl Sanders, “we want to bring NILE and all Metal fans an evening of NILE music that spans our entire career and play two full sets with only a brief intermission. After years of many package tours, the necessary set time restrictions have often meant that NILE’s had to streamline our set. Fans didn’t always get to hear the songs they came to hear. Thankfully, some of those classic NILE songs we have been itching to play for years will now get a chance to be heard live. We are extremely fired up.”
“Another facet of this tour which was very important to us,” continues Sanders, “we have asked promoters to include the best three local bands from their respective areas on the bill. Supporting local bands in each city is a way for us to give something back to younger bands and the metal scene. We’ve asked promoters to keep ticket prices low, so that fans of all ages can come and join us for an evening of metal. In these difficult times of our recessionary economy, an evening of killer metal shouldn’t have to break the bank. NILE are going to do our part: biting the bullet and rolling the dice to bring metal fans in the USA an unforgettable evening with NILE for a reasonable ticket price. We are sincerely looking forward to seeing all our friends and fans at the shows in 2013!”
Tour dates available HERE!
NILE’s seventh full-length studio album, 'At The Gate Of Sethu', was released on July 3rd and debuted on the American Billboard Top 200 album chart at #131. The album also secured the #2 position on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and #10 on the Current Hard Music charts.
'At The Gate Of Sethu' was produced and mixed by Neil Kernon (Nevermore, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide). Cover artwork is by Greek artist Seth Siro Anton (Exodus, Soilwork, Paradise Lost).
NILE will be performing on the 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise in January 2013 and at Circo Volador in Mexico City on March 2nd, 2013.

TURISAS Begin Recording NEW Album & Announce Lineup Changes - Statement Available!
Finland's TURISAS have started tracking their fourth studio album. The recording sessions for the drum parts are taking place at Atomic Spa studio in Helsinki, Finland, and will continue recording in different locations until the end of January. The follow-up to 'Stand Up And Fight' (2011) is scheduled to be out in May of 2013 via Century Media Records.
There is more TURISAS news. The band has announced a few lineup changes. Tuomas "Tude" Lehtonen (original drummer) is departing the band and will be replaced by Jaakko Jakku. Also departing is Jukka-Pekka Miettinen (bassist), who will focus on his own musical projects.
Lehtonen had the following to say regarding his decision: "I can't tell you how hard it feels to step away from the path we've been walking together for the last 15 years — and to start a new era in my life without the band.
"There are many reasons for me to quit the band. The stress from the years spent on the road and different artistic visions have lead to a mutual decision for me to step back and hand over the drumsticks to the next guy.
"In any case, it has been a great experience and all the memories from being on the road are something that I will always cherish. The biggest thanks go to all of the past and present members of the band, not to forget all the technicians and fellow drummers I've met on shows and on tour — and, of course, especially to all the fans that have allowed us to grow to the level that TURISAS are at today.
"Good luck and lots of success to all my bandmates — I feel that I will never be straying too far away from the band. I shall always be proudly carrying the heart of TURISAS wherever I go. The man can leave the band but the band will never really leave the man."
As previously announces, TURISAS will once again return to the States in February/March 2013 for a headlining tour featuring FIREWIND and STOLEN BABIES as special guests! In regards to the trek, the band comments: "Back to America straight out of the studio! We've spent the last six months off the road writing some NEW killer tunes and are just about to start recording them as we speak. The great memories from our previous tour last spring is making us even more excited to hit the road again after this long break. We're coming up with NEW cool and crazy ideas for this tour, and who knows, maybe we'll even try out and premiere some completely unreleased NEW material. One thing is certain, after 9 months off the road there will be some serious energy to be released on stage! Serve us your weakest piss-light beer! We'll take it! America here we come!"
Tour dates and details are available HERE!
Fans can also see TURISAS before their "Guards of Glory - North American Tour 2013" on the heavy metal cruise, 70,000 Tons Of Metal, which kicks off on January 28th in Florida. For more information about 70,000 Tons Of Metal, please visit: http://70000tons.com/

Singer Efthimis Karadimas regarding the concept of 'Cassiopeia': "'Cassiopeia' has a specific thesis and though its name is linked to both the constellation and the mythical character of Andromeda´s mother, it refers to arrogance as leading characteristic of the human race; the outcome of this and the overweening state of affairs are so popular these harsh days everywhere. The entire world seems to be shifting from its previous position to a NEW one and all and each one of us that used to feel like masters of our destiny are now starting to wonder about when, where and how this transition will end. It may be a punishment like 'Cassiopeia and Andromeda' who claimed themselves more beautiful even to nereids suffered, or it may be just another change. Time will certainly tell."
And about "Oberon & Titania": "The song is based on Shakespeare's A Midsummer's Night Dream couple; He is the king of fairies and She is the fairy queen. Despite their apparent close relationship, they end up forcefully using their powers and skills against each other; like maniacs blinded by light of passion and haughtiness they drag themselves to the lowest dungeons of nature. It is the ceaseless passion between two beings; passion that unites before it destroys anything around it once unleashed. It is true we are nothing when it comes to sustaining our gratefulness in front of desire. We are born broken in a dilute world poets' admiration cannot disguise. And none can break the broken."
'Cassiopeia' will be released the 18th of January, 2013 via Metal Blade Records in Europe!
The recordings for 'Cassiopeia' took place in four different places, something NIGHTFALL is quite familiar with. Vocals and keys were recorded in Greece (Soundflakes studios & Cyberia) while the drums got hammered down in Germany in the Soundlodge studios. Guitars and bass were recorded in the U.S. in Nashville, Tennessee in the Boomcave studios.
More than on the previous album 'Astron Black & The Thirty Tyrants', in 'Cassiopeia' the spirit of old school Heavy Metal larks in almost every riff, with Mercyful Fate´s and King Diamond´s guitar style having its top notch, always the NIGHTFALL way.

VISION OF DISORDER Premiere Music Video For "Hard Times"; Band To Perform Hurricane Benefit Show This Weekend In Brooklyn NY!
Long Island Hardcore pioneers VISION OF DISORDER have just released their newly-completed official video for the pummeling track “Hard Times”. The fourth anthem from their lauded, fourth full-length 'The Cursed Remain Cursed', VOD enlisted the expertise of Tom J. Cronin to direct and construct the high-paced visual depiction of the song, filmed live at two vicious gigs in London and Manchester just days before the release of 'The Cursed Remain Cursed' this past September.
Crowd-walk, stagedive and jaw-punch your way through “Hard Times” (courtesy of Noisey, VICE Magazine’s music channel):
We are also now just days away from “Picking Up Change: Hardcore For Hurricane Relief”. After witnessing the devastation brought on by Hurricane Sandy on October 29th, the band immediately reorganized their headlining show in Brooklyn this Saturday, November 24th to benefit victims of Sandy’s wrath across the region. An event coordinated by VISION OF DISORDER alongside Candlelight Records, Earsplit PR and Metal Insider, officially, 100% of the ticket proceeds from VOD as well as supporting acts Yuppicide, Swarm of Arrows and Primitive Weapons will be donated to the Red Cross to aid residents whose lives were impacted by the storm. Show attendees are invited to bring supplies -- nonperishable food, batteries, toilet paper, etc. -- for area shelters and food banks, as donation bins will be posted outside of the venue. Supplies to aid pets and animals displaced by the storm will be donated to Last Resort Animal Rescue in New Jersey.
We recently conducted the following interview with members of the band:

Get Your Loved Ones A SLAYER Christmas Holiday Jumper!
Don't be cold during the holidays! Thanks to the SLAYER maniacs, you can now rock their NEW Christmas holiday jumper while listening to the bands music loud and roud.

As previously reported, SLAYER's classic song "Raining Blood", taken from one of he most influential Heavy Metal albums of all time ('Reign In Blood), was picked by Google for a 30 second commercial. The commercial is for Google's NEW Chromebooks by Samsung. The commercial is part of Google's NEW campaign that is designed around the "a computer for everyone" theme. Watch it HERE.
Slayer recently wrote Heavy Metal history as they performed in India for the first time in the bands career. The bands historic performance took place at the Vladivar Rock 'N India event in Bangalore, India. Footage available HERE!
As previously announced, SLAYER have two songs recorded for their next batch of NEW music. Kerry King recently announced that they have two more songs in the grill, that are missing vocals and leads. During a recent interview with Artisan News, King spoke about the NEW album and whither or not Jeff Hanneman's spider bite injury will delay the production of the record.
Has Jeff Hanneman's injury delayed the NEW SLAYER?
"Not yet. We've recorded very little. We got a little bit done. We had a 12-day window where we hijacked [producer] Greg Fidelman from METALLICA and worked with him a little bit. So we've got two [new songs] done; they've gotta be mixed. We've got two other ones that need vocals and leads. [There are] three other demos and three other [tracks] we still have to demo. But [this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour] is the last thing we're doing, so hopefully we'll get [the rest of the album] done before we pick up and tour again in October."
Jeff Hanneman's flesh eating disease.
"You hear about it, but I didn't even think we had that kind of spider in California. And I really think at the end of the day it's a speculation, because his arm was so fucked up, I can't imagine them even finding where they think it started, if you had my opinion. But, you know, that flesh-eating stuff, you can get scratched by a nail, you can get scratched by anything, and if you don't take care of it, it's gonna turn into something like that. But whatever got him, that is what happened — he had had the disease."

SHAI HULUD Release NEW Album Teaser & Announce Release Date!
SHAI HULUD will be releasing their NEW album, 'Reach Beyond the Sun', on February 19th, 2013 via Metal Blade Records. NEW music and pre-orders will be available on December 10th, but for now, fans can sample a portion of a NEW track here:
About Reach Beyond the Sun:
'Reach Beyond the Sun', the fourth entry in Shai Hulud's storied catalog, will see its release in February of 2013. The album was produced by current New Found Glory guitarist, Chad Gilbert, and notably, vocalist on Hulud's debut LP 'Hearts Once Nourished With Hope And Compassion'. In addition to producing, Gilbert also returned to sing on the album - his first offering of recorded vocals with the band in over a decade. Not unlike Shai Hulud's previous releases, 'Reach Beyond the Sun' was born of several years of toiling before ever entering a studio. The band's previous effort, 'Misanthropy Pure', a polished, Metallic and frenzied piece of masterwork, is contrasted by the much more visceral, instinctively compositional songs found on 'Reach Beyond the Sun', an embracement of the raw Hardcore/Punk elements that sit at the cornerstone of the band's influences. Longtime bass player Mad Matt Fletcher asserts, "Anyone who really knows the band will agree this album is our definitive sound, encompassing all of our different influences and styles." He conclusively reiterates, "Yep, this sounds like Shai Hulud."
"Shai Hulud comes from the isolated corner of Hardcore where a screaming voice has meaning and purpose. (Their) lyrics empower and inspire. A gift of perspective, if not of true insight." - Nick Pierce / Shai Hulud fan
Lyrically, Shai Hulud continues to evoke deeper thought, and a range of true human emotions practically unique to the band as the modern underground often shies away from depth for fear of the vulnerability of inner exposure. Shai Hulud affirms "True strength is inviolate" in the song "Monumental Graves," and introspectively queries "Is ours, indeed, a sunless path to waiting graves we prepare for ourselves?" and "Will we bring our hearts back to life?" in the songs "I, Saturnine" and "A Human Failing," respectively, boldly turning their insides out. Regarding "A Human Failing," a song about a generation willing to turn numb in lieu of a life of pain and feeling, guitar player Matt Fox comments "It's become 'cool' to be cold. No pun intended." In the interest of challenging misinterpreted notions of pessimism, the song "Think The Adder Benign" professes "No, I do not believe roses only bloom just to conceal the thorns. I merely accept the thorn pricked finger bleeds" while "To Suffer Fools" maintains the band's active frustration and misanthropy, a trait by which Shai Hulud are notorious: "Pour the salts of acumen straight into the eyes to recondition the mind."
In recording 'Reach Beyond the Sun', Shai Hulud welcomed the vocal talents of accomplished friends from throughout the Hardcore community. Fans will note guest vocals from: Jay Pepito (Reign Supreme, Blacklisted) on "A Human Failing, John Vigil (The Ghost Inside) on "If A Mountain be My Obstacle," Louis Hernandez (Alpha & Omega) on "Man Into Demon," all officially recorded former Hulud vocalists Matt Mazalli, Damien Moyal, and Geert van der Velde on "Medicine to the Dead," as well as additional vocals throughout the album from the likes of Justin Krauss (With Life In Mind), Martin Stewart (Donnybrook, Terror), David Wood (Down To Nothing, Terror), among others.
Since the release of 'Misanthropy Pure' in 2008, Shai Hulud has toured Europe, Southeast Asia, Canada, the US, and Mexico. Most recently, the band appeared at the Revelation Records 25th Anniversary shows, both in LA and New York. Plans are already beginning to unfold for 2013, beginning with Shai Hulud's trek to Australia for the first time as part of Soundwave 2013, which also features Metallica, Slayer, Blink 182, The Offspring, and many more. More plans are beginning to unfold in support of 'Reach Beyond the Sun', which will invariably see Hulud performing in front of more fans, NEW and old, than ever before.
Within 'Reach Beyond The Sun' is found the glimmer of hope emerging as a keen perception of reality on a gridlocked battleground of grim pessimism versus unthinking optimism - a conflicting array of swirling thoughts and depth of emotion, honestly illustrating and defining the beauty and tragedy of the human experience. To the backdrop of progressive, Metallic Hardcore/Punk, Shai Hulud is thinking and expressing in perpetual forward motion.
Onward and upward. Always. Forever.
'Reach Beyond the Sun' will be released on February 19th in North America, and February 15th/18th in Europe via Metal Blade Records.

BUTCHER BABIES Announce NEW Recording Contract; Band To Perform At The Roxy!
Century Media Records is proud to announce the signing of the BUTCHER BABIES to their worldwide family of artists. Hailing from Los Angeles, the BUTCHER BABIES have emerged as one of the biggest draws on the Sunset Strip, their incendiary blend of Heavy Metal and horror-inspired theatrics inciting crowds worldwide.
Fronted by Carla Harvey and Heidi Shepherd - named two of the year's 'Hottest Women In Rock' by Revolver Magazine - the blood-splattered band left their mark on the United Kingdom in June, appearing on the Download festival and supporting Anthrax in Cardiff. They returned to America as direct support for Otep in fall, and are wrapping up their first headlining tour tonight in front of a hometown crowd at the Roxy on the Sunset Strip. The band - vocalists Harvey and Shepherd, guitarist Henry Flury, bassist Jason Klein and drummer Chris Warner - will be performing with labelmates In This Moment tomorrow night in Las Vegas.
"Century Media has been a huge supporter of BUTCHER BABIES for a long time, and it feels natural to join their tight knit family," said the band of their signing. "It's an honor for us to be on a roster amongst many other bands that have inspired us for so long. We couldn't be more excited about the future of this union."
The Butcher Babies' track "Axe Wound" is currently in rotation on Sirius XM Liquid Metal, and their short movie/video fo the track "Mr. Slowdeath" can be watched here:
The band are currently at work on their full-length debut, which is slated for worldwide release in summer 2013 via Century Media Records.

KYLESA: NEW Album 'From The Vaults, Vol. 1' Available Tomorrow - Full Album Stream Available!
Kylesa’s 'From The Vaults, Vol. 1' will be available tomorrow (November 20) via Season of Mist Records. The twelve-song collection which features unreleased, NEW and alternate versions of songs spanning the Savannah-based band’s catalogue, is now streaming in its entirety via Loudwire (click HERE to listen).
"This project has been a labor of love," explained guitarist/singer/producer Phillip Cope. "We have spent over a year going through old songs, covers, etc. and collected those we felt went well together; remixing and finishing them up. We didn't want to release something just thrown together so we put a lot of thought and time into it. I am really happy about how this came together. I think it is a good representation of Kylesa's different styles from early on to present day."
Singer/guitar player Laura Pleasants recently gave Decibel Magazine an in-depth look at the songs included on From The Vaults, Vol. 1 with a track-by-track rundown: click HERE to listen!.
The band is currently recording a NEW album at The Jam Room in Columbia, South Carolina with Cope once again producing the album. He has previously produced releases from Baroness, Withered and Black Tusk.

IN FLAMES: Anders Fridén On Touring With LAMB OF GOD, Bands Evolution & Musical Future!
For over 20 years the members of In Flames have been on a constant musical evolution in which they have pushed the boundaries of the Gothenburg Swedish Melodic Death Metal scene to the limit. While some may say that the band has experimented way too much with their sound, the reality is that In Flames have always stood out for making sure that every record they release is a different chapter of the In Flames book. With the release of their 10th studio album entitled 'Sounds of a Playground Fading' last year via Century Media Records, the band once again is proving that they do not like playing it safe.
Right before the bands recent set at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City, we had the chance to chat with In Flames' frontman Anders Fridén about their current tour with Lamb Of God, Hatebreed and Sylosis. We also discussed the impact of Hurricane Sandy on the entire world and what the future plans are for the In Flames machine. Additionally, we chatted about the message behind Anders' lyrics and what the band wanted to accomplish when they released 'Sounds Of A Playground Fading'.
