If you're a fan of Madball, or just someone who would like to help, please keep your eyes open for these guitars that we will post pictures of. Check your local guitar store, pawn shop, anywhere someone might look to turn these into cash. This happened in the NY area, so that's the focus of our attention, but New Jersey, Connecticut, anywhere is a possibility. If you come across these, please contact us ASAP so we can pursue further action. Thanks!"

STRIFE's Rick Rodney Explains Why He "Escaped" From The Straight Edge Way Of Life!

After touring the world recently, STRIFE decided it was time to unleash a NEW batch of songs after 11 years of recording silence. Their newest album, 'Witness A Rebirth', was released on November 6th via 6131 records.

With producer Nick Jett (Terror, Rotting Out, Backtrack) at the helm, STRIFE recruited friend and previous collaborator, Iggor Cavalera (founding member of Sepultura and currently in Cavalera Conspiracy) to perform drums for the album and traveled to Brazil to record with him. Soon after, they returned to California and put the rest of the pieces into place, including guest vocals by Billy Graziadei (Biohazard) and Scott Vogel (Terror), plus a guitar solo by Marc Rizzo (Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy). The rest serves as a testament to their talent, bridging their past (especially the contemporary Hardcore sound. 'Witness A Rebirth' is at once both refreshing and evocative.

On Monday, December 3, with just 24 hours to promote the show, STRIFE took over a packed Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, New York and demonstrated why they are globally known for delivering a furious display of old school Hardcore music. Right after the bands set, we had the chance to chat with the bands frontman Rick Rodney.

During the interview we discussed 'Witness The Rebirth', the bands return to New York City, and why he decided to "escape" from the Straight Edge way of life. Before we share the interview with you, we figured we'd explain to you what being Straight Edge means. Straight Edge is basically living a clean life without drugs, drinking and casual sex. It's living a poison free and keeping yourself safe. It is a choice and it does not make you better or worse than anyone. We all make choices and some choose to be straight edge and some don't. Yes, it's true that some people will stop being sXe when they turn 21 but that is just another choice. Straight Edge is a way of life but has now been formed into a trend. Out there, there are true edgers.

What other factors can influence a persons decision to "escape" the Straight Edge way of life? Watch what Rodney had to say about this:

EARTH CRISIS Inks Record Deal With Candlelight Records - Statement Available

Candlelight Records proudly announces the worldwide signing of EARTH CRISIS. The Syracuse-based band, featuring vocalist Karl Buechner (also in FREYA), guitarists Scott Crouse and Erick Edwards, bassist Ian Edwards, and drummer Dennis Merrick, is currently writing and demoing material for their ninth studio album. Recording is expected to begin in June.

No Hardcore or Metal fan can be unaware of EARTH CRISIS or the contributions the band has made to Heavy Music since their founding in 1989. Championing the weak and the voiceless, the band has over 200,000 catalogue sales to date, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Regardless of passing trends, the five-piece has maintained their vision, dedication to their craft (and causes), and most importantly respected their fans in the 20-plus years of their performing career. In 2013, the band embarks on a new chapter delivering mission music as only they can.

Guitarist Scott Crouse says, “We are excited to be working on a NEW album, and equally as excited to be working on it with Candlelight. Their roster speaks for itself. It's an honor to be alongside bands like Fear Factory, Corrosion of Conformity, and our old friends in Vision of Disorder.” Vocalist Karl Buechner comments, “I'm really looking forward to sharing this next chapter of EC with Candlelight Records. I think they've proven to know the genre well, and will help push us in the right direction.” Candlelight co-owner Steve Beatty notes, “I am very proud to have EARTH CRISIS on Candlelight. I hope our partnership sees the band retain their rightful place in extreme music.”

Founded by Buechner, EARTH CRISIS has enjoyed two chapters in their musical journey. From 1991 to 2001, the straight-edge, vegan band would cultivate a global fanbase. Enduring numerous line-up changes, van accidents, and the natural up-and-down of music industry fads, the band released five full-length albums, two EPs, and two live albums before saying goodbye before a sold out audience at the 6th Annual Hellfest in 2001. Six years later, the band would reunite and perform at the Maryland Metal & Hardcore Festival January 2007. It would open the door to additional performances in the US and Europe, later leading to the band’s headline appearance at 2008’s Firestorm Fest. A rejuvenated EARTH CRISIS would later record two albums, 'To the Death' (2008) and 'Neutralize the Threat' (2011). Each followed by extensive international touring. Revealing a bit about the NEW album and its focus, Buechner conveys, “Lyrically this NEW record is going to focus strictly on an animal rights/anti-vivisection theme. Of course this is what the band is known for, but we've actually never solely dedicated an entire album to the topic.”

“EARTH CRISIS has made a name for itself not only through punishing Metal and Hardcore, but via staunch support of straight edge, animal rights, and veganism,” says Lambgoat editor Alex Arnold. “Few bands command the respect that EARTH CRISIS does, and they've earned it through 20 years of hard work and consistency. Contain, control, to dominate! Contain, control, exterminate!”

EARTH CRISIS will break from songwriting at month’s end to perform four shows for their Australian fans. Confirmed dates are noted below. Tickets are on sale now.

EARTH CRISIS Australian Tour:

- 1/31/2013: The Hi Fi - Brisbane
- 2/01/2013: Hermanns Bar - Sydney
- 2/02/2013: The Corner Hotel - Melbourne
- 2/03/2013: Fowlers Live - Adelaide

The MADBALL Camp Comment On The Passing Of Their Friend & Crew Member John "Vermont" Hughes (Rock In Peace)

Pictured here: Freddy Cricien (Madball) & John Hughes (RIP)

We just got word from the MADBALL camp, that their friend and crew member John "Vermont" Hughes passed away yesterday night (January 15) at the young age of 28. Here is a message that the band posted a few hours ago regarding this very sad news:

"R.I.P. Jonathan Richard Hughes

"It is with great sorrow that we say good bye to one of our own tonight - He was a little brother to us all, a hard working and loyal young man who unfortunately had his life cut short. I can't thank him enough for all is help over the years - He was not just our Merch guy. He handled many duties and was helpful with many aspects of our "business". His input creatively with merchandising was always welcomed and greatly appreciated. On the personal side - we broke bread more times than I can count and shared many tales and good times. There will forever be a void in our camp without "the kid". We send our condolences with much love out to: Barb, Jen, Lydia and the entire Hughes Family.

"To my fellow highway man, continue on your Journey friend, we'll see you again.......

"Love Always, Freddy, Hoya, Mitts and Mike" - Madball
Our condolences go out to John's family, friends, and everyone at the MADBALL camp.

TERROR Parts Ways With Century Media Records & Join Victory Records; Scott Vogel Comments On Bands NEW Home

Victory Records is proud to welcome TERROR to the Victory family. They will release their sixth studio album titled 'Live By The Code' in April, 2013 in the US and Canada. Check out the Victory Records’ webstore for NEW merch designs- available now.

TERROR vocalist Scott Vogel comments, “When I was in high school, I would go to ‘Home of the Hits Records’ in Buffalo, NY and every week I would check for NEW Victory releases. Growing up, Victory Records always had the best hardcore bands, period. They had this awesome packaging and vibe that I loved. INTEGRITY, STRIFE, BLOODLET, EARTH CRISIS -it was a fucking amazing time for Hardcore. Later, I met Tony when he came to Buffalo to see SNAPCASE. We stayed in contact and made plans for my second band DESPAIR, but soon after we broke up. Victory and my band BURIED ALIVE worked together for years. They also had HATEBREED, BLOOD FOR BLOOD, ALL OUT WAR and REACH THE SKY, all bands I’ve always respected and held in the highest regard. This summer I hung out with Tony and we had a wild night in Chicago. We talked about the good and bad of Hardcore today and just had a blast. No business talk, no nonsense. We were under contract at the time so there wasn't even room for it. As we got ready to release 'Live By The Code', TERROR and Century Media debated on how to release the record right and VICTORY RECORDS seemed like the best fit. Tony and I are both insane. We both come from the same place. We both scratch and fight to stay afloat. We still believe in the essence of Hardcore and still love WARZONE. This is pretty fucking exciting.”

Vogel claims 'Live By The Code' “hits harder than 'Keepers Of The Faith'”, calling it the “dirtiest, rawest and most Hardcore record we’ve done since 'Lowest Of The Low'”. While the album is set for an April, 2013 release date, fans can expect to pre-order their copy of the album soon along with other merch packages. A brand NEW music video for their album-titled single, “Live By The Code” is also on the horizon, so stay tuned.

Don't forget that this February, TERROR will co-headline a tour with H2O. Featuring BACKTRACK and CODE ORANGE KIDS as support, the trek begins in Washington, DC and weaves throughout North America before ending in Richmond, VA. See below for all upcoming tour dates.

How Yesterday's Election Results Benefit The Heavy Music World!

Yesterday (November 6th), the people of the United States voted Barack Obama as their 44th president. The people also voted for various legislation's that in way or another, benefit the Heavy Music world. Here is what we are talking about:

- Residents in two states (Colorado and Washington) voted to legalize recreational marijuana. Other states have legalized medical marijuana (including Massachusetts on Tuesday).

How does this benefit the Heavy Music world? Well, while we don't condone the use of marijuana, we believe that it is a much healthier vice than cigarettes, alcohol, and other controlled substances such as cocaine and heroine. Additionally, the medicinal aspects of marijuana help thousands of patients worldwide to cope with many diseases.

- Maine and Maryland became the first states in which voters approved gay marriage. It had failed previously in 32 states, including Maine as recently as 2009. In addition, Wisconsin elected the first openly gay U.S. senator in history, with Rep. Tammy Baldwin’s (D) victory over former governor Tommy Thompson (R).

How does this benefit the Heavy Music world? Our music is all about the unity of the masses regardless of sexual orientation, race, nationality and religion background.
