'God Bless Ozzy Osbourne' Coming to Movie Theaters this August!
The prince of darkness Ozzy Osbourne is constantly reinventing himself, so what's his next professional endeavor? Movie star! 'God Bless Ozzy Osbourne' was directed by Ozzy's son Jack Osbourne and it is a movie about the life of one of the most influential Heavy Music musicians of all time. The film premiered on April 24 at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City and received the following review from Entertainment Weekly:
"What could have been a glossy, fawning tribute to the most visible face in heavy metal music history — especially considering it was co-produced by his son, Jack — actually turned out to be a remarkably evenhanded look at Ozzy's monumental musical influence as well as his less exemplary life as an addict and often-absent father."
This August, 'God Bless Ozzy Osbourne' will be broadcasted at an exclusive in-theater event that will take place at various movie theaters all around the country (see below). The event will take place on Wednesday, August 24 and Monday, August 29 at 7:30 PM. (local time). The film will feature never-before-seen Black Sabbath footage, tour clips, plus stories about Ozzy in the words of members of Black Sabbath, Paul McCartney, Tommy Lee and various other musicians.
Don’t miss your chance to see this two-night event on the big screen!
Tickets go on sale to the general public Monday, August 1 at this link

Megadeth's Shawn Drover Discusses the Big 4 & TH1RT3EN (NEW Album)
For over 25 years Megadeth has been tearing up venues all over the world, and to this day they are one of the best bands in Heavy Music history. After being kicked out of Metallica for his reckless behavior, Dave Mustaine started the band in 1983 against all odds. Ever since then his mission has been to keep the Heavy Metal flag flying high without ever looking down! Megadeth is not just a band, they are a cult!
Megadeth has also proved that Thrash Metal doesn’t stand any sissies and that only the strong survive. Many failed while fighting their own demons, but this legendary band found their way out of the darkness. You can’t help admiring the fact that so many years later the band members are still in full vigor and at the pinnacle of their creativity.
At their recent show in Hartford, Connecticut, we had the chance to interview Megadeth's drummer Shawn Drover about the Big 4, their new album titled TH1RT3EN (to be released on November 1 via Roadrunner Records) and about the impact that festivals like the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival have on the entire Heavy Music scene. Metallica's 30 Year Anniversary to be Celebrated with a Series of Shows in the Bay Area!
It all started in 1981 when Lars Ulrich placed an ad in Los Angeles free newspaper The Recyler: "Drummer looking for other metal musicians to jam with the Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head and Iron Maiden". Fast forward thirty years and Metallica is the biggest and most important band in Heavy Music history. In those 30 years the band has sold over 100 million records, have won 6 Grammy's, have dominated the Heavy Music charts many times, and have reinvented themselves over and over again. Some may call them sellouts, but the truth is that they sell out every show they do!
The band decided to celebrate their 30th year of musical existence with a series of special shows at The Fillmore in San Francisco that will take place in December. Here is the Metallica's statement about this historical event:
"Thirty years of Metallica… can you believe it? We think it’s cause for a major celebration! You’ve been asking for a while now “just what the hell are you going to do to mark 30 years as a band?” closely followed by “why don’t we have more exclusive shows for Fan Club members?” We’ve heard you loud and clear and are beyond psyched to announce that the week of December 5, 2011 will be a full on Metallica week in the Bay Area, more specifically we will be playing four shows for Met Club members only at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco on December 5, 7, 9, and 10 to celebrate our 30th anniversary."
"These unique shows will include special guests and events, rare songs, varied set lists, odds and ends, and all the nutty stuff you expect from Metallica… fun for the entire family! Come to the Bay Area and spend the week with us to not only close out 2011 out with a bang, but to celebrate over three decades worth of craziness."
"Participate in the entire week of festivities with special four pack tickets (one ticket for each of the four shows) and automatic entry into the contests for various other special events, available for the clever price of $19.81 (get it??). If you can’t join us for the full week, we’ll have individual show tickets too and as you can see we’re going back to early ’80′s ticket pricing (but not the hair!)… single show tickets will be just $6.00 each. Both four packs and individual show tickets will be available for Fan Club members only through a reservation system and we do have to add facility fees, blah, blah. Clubbers can log in for all the details… we’re taking reservations through August 8."\
"Hope to see you for a week of madness in December!". METALLICA

Jamey Jasta Explores a NEW Facet as a Musician with his Solo Album!
Hatebreed and Kingdom Of Sorrow front-man Jamey Jasta is never busy enough and is always searching for the next musical high. His latest adventure finds Jasta joining forces with various top notch Heavy Music musicians and presenting to the masses his debut solo album titled "Jasta". When we first talked to Jasta about this new project, he made it very clear that it all came to life when he realized that he had written a ton of good songs that didn't fit with the sounds of Hatebreed and/or Kingdom Of Sorrow.
While some may say that he is simply releasing a new project because of the money, we couldn't disagree more. The whole album is a very honest and diverse approach, and thanks to musicians like Zakk Wylde from Black Label Society, Randy Blythe and Mark Morton from Lamb Of God, the album features a potpourri of songs that showcase Jasta experimenting with different singing styles.
In times in which there is a lack of diversity within the Heavy Music world, it is refreshing to be able to listen to an album that takes the listener into various soundscapes right from beginning to the end. If you are a fan of Hatebreed or Kingdom Of Sorrow, listen to the album with an open mind as you will find Jasta not just screaming, but also harmonizing. With this new solo album Jamey Jasta is proving that he is always working on improving his musical craft, which is what makes him a force to be reckoned with.
Track listing:
01. Walk That Path Alone
02. Mourn The Illusion
03. Screams From The Sanctuary
04. Nothing They Say
05. Anthem Of The Freedom Fighter
06. Something You Should Know (Ft. Phil Labonte of All That Remains)
07. Set You Adrift
08. Enslaved, Dead or Depraved (Ft. Randy Blythe of Lamb of God)
09. With A Resounding Voice (Ft. Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying)
10. The Fearless Must Endure (Ft. Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society)
11. Heart Of A Warrior (Ft. Mike Vallely)
12. Death Bestowed (Ft. Mark Morton of Lamb Of God)
"It is a little something different for me and I hope you guys dig it. There are a lot of collaborations, a lot of clean vocals, and there are different styles of riffing. It is still heavy and aggressive. There is some screaming, but I tried some different things to change up the recipe a little bit."

Body Of Daniel Bobis (Cipher Drummer) Found in Indonesia
Daniel Bobis from the band Cipher went missing on Sunday morning after wiping out on a wave while surfing. According to his wife, the leash in the surf board broke as he was surfing in an area that is famous for its 12 foot waves.
The New York Daily News has reported that the body of Daniel Bobis was discovered this Thursday (July 28) by fishermen in Indonesia. Search crews in West Lampung, Sumatra, said the fishermen pulled the body of Bobis out of the water.
Bobis was the drummer for the Long Beach, New York Hardcore/Metal/Punk band Cipher. Additionaly, Bobis was a Math teacher at a Long Beach High School and also a surf team coach.
“I am truly sorry to be writing this. Last night Rachel, Bob, Lydia, and Brian received word that a body was found somewhere up the coast by fishermen. They immediately traveled together in hopes that it was a coincidence…It was not. They positively identified Danny. He is gone and now we must mourn. So please do not focus on what the media may release. In this terrible time of tragedy we must keep our energy on what Danny stood for and how we can be there for his family. We must come together and stay together. Danny you will never die in our hearts and we know your up in heaven ripping waves. I’ll see you when I get there brother… We love you.” - A Relative of Daniel Bobis
"Daniel Bobis has passed away. No further details have been provided, nor are necessary at this time. We are all deeply saddened by the loss of this amazing husband, teacher, surfer and friend to so many." - Statement by Bobis' good friend and fellow Long Island surfer Sean Persall
We send our deepest condolences to Bobis' family, friends, and fans! Rest In Peace! \m/

Five Finger Death Punch Debut NEW single "Under it and Over It"
California's Five Finger Death Punch is widely renowned as one of the most important bands of recent Metal history- where today they play sold out shows, headline prestigious festivals and command an army of die-hard fans across the globe. The band has finalized the production of their third studio album titled "American Capitalist" (set to be released on October 11 via Prospect Park). The album was recorded at “The Hideout” in Las Vegas, NV with producer Kevin Churko. Right now, you can listen to their first single titled "Under It and Over it" by clicking here!
“This record crystallizes the sound of Death Punch," says guitarist Zoltan Bathory.
Singer Ivan Moody adds, "I literally laid every ounce of blood I had on this one. We are a people’s band. Our fans understand us because of who we are. We've never tried to be anybody else but FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH. If you’re inclined to please the whole world, you've got to take a step back and realize that at the end of the day, you have to be you- first and foremost. Otherwise, you're useless to anyone else".
The bands last album, "War Is The Answer", debuted at #7 on the Billboard chart. ‘Far From Home’ peaked #2 at Active Rock radio and was named the #1 Rated Song at Mediabase Rate-The-Music for eleven straight weeks, while the hit single “Bad Company” hit #1 at Active Rock radio. Both 5FDP albums, War Is The Answer (2009) and The Way of the Fist (2007) are RIAA-certified Gold and continue to post some of the strongest sales week after week in the world of hard rock and metal- charting for 100 straight weeks on the Billboard Top 200.
Keep your eyes peeled for the cover of the September 2011 issue of Revolver Magazine, on stands August 16th, featuring Five Finger Death Punch. This wont be the first time that 5FDP appears on a magazine cover, they have previously appeared on the covers of Metal Hammer and Revolver Magazine, as well as receiving three Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards in back-to-back years.
Additionally, the band has been featured in Kerrang!, Rocksound, Guitar World, Guitar Edge, Decibel, Billboard, MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball, MTV2, Fuse, Yahoo!, AOL Music, Hard Times, MySpace Music, CBS’s Criminal Minds, ESPN’s The X-Games, Sportscenter and more.

“This record crystallizes the sound of Death Punch," says guitarist Zoltan Bathory.
Singer Ivan Moody adds, "I literally laid every ounce of blood I had on this one. We are a people’s band. Our fans understand us because of who we are. The Devastated Announce Fall tour & NEW single
The Devastated was formed after former members of Impending Doom, Bleeding Through, and Oblige, joined forces and decided to combine all of their influences to create their unique, self-proclaimed "grimy, gross, groove" sound. Recently signed to Century Media Records, the band is now ready to bring their music to the masses by joining the "Metal, Arise! Tour" this fall (with headlining off-dates).
The "Metal, Arise! Tour" was manufactured by The House of Blues, Decibel Magazine, Metal Blade Records, IndieMerch and Red/'stache Media. Joining The Devastated on stage will be Allegaeon and The Browning. The metallic festivities will kickoff in the Cambridge Room at the House Of Blues in Dallas, Texas, and will conclude in the Delta Room at the House of Blues in San Diego, California.
The band will also be releasing their debut digital single "Devil's Messenger" on I-Tunes on August 2nd, and the band promises that while the sound quality will be top-notch, the song itself will be "really ugly" on your ears! Produced by the band themselves along with Chris Eck and co-production/mix by Daniel Castleman (best known for his work with As I Lay Dying), "Devil's Messenger" will be fans' first taste of the new Devastated album, due out 2012.

Machine Head's Phil Demmel & Dave McClain Discuss NEW Album & Life on the Road
As we all know, Machine Head are currently putting the final touches to their seventh studio album titled "Unto The Locust" (set to be released on September 20th via Roadrunner Records). Judging from their first single "Locust", the record touches on darker themes and Robb Flynn has declared it to be his most personal record to date. At current time Flynn is flying back and forth between Oakland, California (where the record is being mixed) and the 2011 Rockstar Mayhem Festival! We had the chance to catch up with lead guitarist Phil Demmel and drummer Dave McClain, to discuss with them the new album and how they keep themselves focused while living on the road. This interview is not to be missed! Headbang motherfukkas!
"It is a different record then 'The Blackening', but we feel like we stepped our game up again." - Phil Demmel
"We are super proud of this record. In the last three albums, including this one, we've had complete musical freedom to do what we want to do. It is the first time we have the same lineup for more than two records. We feel that as much as we love 'The Blackening', we feel really proud of this one and are certain that people will feel the same way about this record as they did with 'Through the Ashes of Empires' and 'The Blackening". - Dave McClain
