2011 Mayhemfest Artists Perform Pantera’s ‘Walk’ in Tribute to Dimebag Darrell!

The 2011 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival came to a close over a week ago at the Cruzan Ampitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida. For the first time ever the opening act of the main stage was rotated throughout the tour, so some of us got to see Machine Head and some of us got to see Trivium opening the main stage. For most the real action was on the second stages sponsored by Revolver Magazine and Jägermeister, simply because the lineup on both stages was composed of hard hitting bands that could easily be "headliners". The only downfall of the festival was the fact that In Flames had to pull out from the festival due to a family emergency.

Prior to the festivals wrap up show, several of this year’s festival artists took to the mainstage in Dallas, TX to perform a special tribute to Dimebag Darrell by performing Pantera’s "Walk".

Numerous artists on this year’s fest took the time to thank the fans and festival team in a brand new video that can be viewed below:

“The 2011 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival was even more rad than I thought it would be! I got turned on to killer new bands, rediscovered legendary older bands, and played to the hands down best fans on the planet,” states Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin. “From the producers of the whole event down to the carpenters, everything was handled with professionalism and care, making a drama-free environment that was a pleasure to be a part of.”

“The critically acclaimed 'tour of the summer,' the The 2011 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival, was quite an enigma to me when we first were approached with the idea,” adds Megadeth vocalist and guitarist Dave Mustaine. “But lemme tell ya, it became real clear that we had made a brilliant decision! I was honored to play for John Reese and whole Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival team.”

“The The 2011 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival was certainly a touring highlight for me in the seven years I have been in Megadeth,” states Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover. “So many fantastic bands, amazing crowds every night and the overall positive vibes both on and off stage between bands, crews and the entire festival staff will be something I will remember for life.”

“What an amazing summer on the the 2011 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival! A huge thanks to John Reese and everyone involved for creating such a band friendly atmosphere for metal and hard rock,” adds Machine Head drummer Dave McClain. “Machine Head are honored to have been a part of it for the second time and we hope there's more in the future!”

MAYHEM FEST 2011 LINEUP!

The lineup for the 2011 Mayhem Fest was announced yesterday on Sirius XM Liquid Metal, and after analyzing the lineup carefully, its safe to assume that the festival will be killer this summer! However, once the lineup was announced, many Metalheads were asking: "Why aren't Megadeth and Machine Head co-headlining the event?" Our opinion is that while Disturbed and Godsmack are very good bands and have had very successful careers, Megadeth and Machine Head are Heavy Metal legends and they are both very relevant today.

In 2010 Megadeth was part of "The Big Four Tour" and of the "Jagermeister Music Tour", which were considered two of the best tours of the year. On the other hand, Machine Head's latest album "The Blackening", is one of the best Heavy Metal albums of the last 10 years. Alright, now that we have that on the table for you to ponder on, here is the 2011 Mayhem Fest lineup:

MAIN STAGE:

- Disturbed

- Godsmack

- Megadeth

- Machine Head

- In Flames

- Trivium

EXTREME STAGE:

- Suicide Silence
- All Shall Perish
- Straight Line Stitch

JAGERMEISTER STAGE:

- Unearth
- Kingdom Of Sorrow
- Red Fang
